Country Plans to End Vaccination Requirements for Health Care Workers

The United Kingdom is moving to end its vaccine requirement for health care workers.

Speaking before Parliament Monday, U.K. Health Minister Sajid Javid announced that the government would open discussions on ending vaccination as a condition of employment in health and social care settings, citing the overwhelming population of vaccinated people and evidence suggesting that the Omicron variant is less severe than previous variants of COVID-19.

“Last Thursday, we woke up to a new phase of this pandemic, as we returned to Plan A,” Javid said. “People are no longer advised to work from home. Face coverings are no longer mandatory. Organisations no longer have to require the NHS Covid Pass. And from today, there’s no limit on the number of visitors allowed to care homes. Week by week, we are carefully moving our COVID response from one of rules and restrictions, back to one of personal responsibility.”

“We know of course that COVID-19 is here to stay,” he continued. “While some countries remain stuck on a zero-COVID strategy and others think about how they will safely open up here, we’re showing the way forward, and showing the world what successfully living with COVID looks like. The principle we’re applying is the same principle that’s guided our actions throughout this pandemic: and that is to achieve the maximum protection of public health with the minimum intrusion in people’s everyday lives. To me, this is what learning to live with COVID is all about.”

Javid then turned to the regulation which mandated vaccines as a condition of employment in health care. “When we consulted on Vaccination as a Condition of Deployment in the NHS and wider social care settings the evidence showed that vaccine effectiveness against infection from the dominant Delta variant has been, or was, between 65 and 80 percent depending on which vaccines you had received,” he said. “Balanced against this clear benefit was the risk that there would always be some people who would not do the responsible thing and choose to remain unvaccinated and in doing so, choosing to walk away from their jobs in health and care.” (Read more from “Country Plans to End Vaccination Requirements for Health Care Workers” HERE)

Pension Agency Latest to Track Exemptions From COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

The federal agency overseeing government pensions on Friday became the latest agency to create a rule for keeping records on employees who seek medical exemptions from the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement.

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. placed a proposed rule on the Federal Register about keeping records of staff who request medical exemptions to the vaccine mandate for federal workers. A public comment period will end March 29.

The agency has more than 1,000 employees. The submitted regulation says: “PBGC estimates that an average of two employees each year will submit Request for Exemption to COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Forms.”

Earlier this week, the Commerce Department submitted a similar rule to the Office of Management and Budget for public comment. That Cabinet-level department has about 47,000 employees.

The developments follow President Joe Biden’s executive order requiring all federal employees to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot.

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.’s notice on the Federal Register was placed by Hilary Duke, the agency’s assistant general counsel for regulatory affairs.

Several Republican lawmakers already have criticized the Biden administration for what they characterized as its “tracking” of federal employees who seek religious or medical exemptions from getting one of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The notice for the latest rule says:

PBGC allows an exception from the vaccination requirement for employees who demonstrate medical reasons or disabilities that would make the COVID-19 vaccine unsafe for them. …

[E]mployees must complete the Request for Medical Exception to COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement form. The PBGC uses the information on this form to verify employees’ assertions that they are entitled to an exception to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement because of their medical or disability statuses.

A spokesman for the pension agency told The Daily Signal early Friday that it would attempt to comment by 4 p.m., but the agency had not responded as of publication time.

For the time being, the proposed rule would not be enforceable because a federal judge last week blocked the Biden administration from enforcing the president’s executive order that every federal worker must be vaccinated.

The matter hasn’t been fully adjudicated, however.

The Supreme Court struck down a separate Biden administration mandate that would have applied to private employers with 100 or more employees.

The pension agency’s proposal comes as the Biden administration considers keeping a list of those who apply for religious exemptions to the president’s vaccine mandate for federal employees.

The rule this week from the Commerce Department said the department would use the medical exemption request form “to make a recommendation to the supervisor based on the medical information provided in the form.”

The Office of Management and Budget oversees all federal regulations.

“To process an employee’s medical exception, agencies need to collect certain information, including, for example, the employee’s name, the request for an exception and, if they are provided one, that they have been granted an exception,” an OMB spokesperson told The Daily Signal when asked for comment earlier this week on the Commerce Department proposal.

The Daily Signal first reported Jan. 11 that the Biden administration was testing a policy at a small federal agency, the Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia, that likely would serve as a model for government-assembled lists of Americans who object to taking the COVID-19 vaccines on religious grounds. Four days later, The Daily Signal reported that 18 other federal agencies are considering doing so.

The Daily Signal also first reported that 41 House Republicans signed onto a letter criticizing the Biden administration for tracking religious exemptions. (For more from the author of “Pension Agency Latest to Track Exemptions From COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate” please click HERE)

Actress Comes Out Hard Against Vax Mandates: ‘This Is Not Safe. This Is Not Healthy’

Marvel’s Ant-Man star Evangeline Lilly has come out against vaccine mandates, saying “nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will.”

The star of ABC’s Lost revealed in an Instagram post that she attended the recent Washington, D.C. rally on Sunday where anti-mandate protestors marched from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial to voice their opposition to forced injections.

“I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will,” she wrote. “This is not the way. This is not safe. This is not healthy. This is not love. I understand the world is in fear, but I don’t believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems.”

The Hobbit star added: “I was pro choice before COVID and I am still pro choice today.”

Study Says Two Thirds of Omicron Cases Are Reinfections

More than two-thirds of cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 are among people who have been reinfected with the virus, a new study said Wednesday.

Imperial College London researchers reported that around 3,582 people — or about 66% of participants in the study — who tested positive in January had already been infected with the virus, CNBC reported.

An additional 7.5% of the infected participants said they believed they had previously had the virus but did not confirm that with a test.

The study looked at more than 100,000 PCR tests that were collected across England between Jan. 5 and Jan. 20.

The study’s authors said in a paper released Wednesday that the Omicron variant has hit England at “unprecedented levels” and has nearly replaced Delta as the country’s most prominent variant, CNBC reported. (Read more from “Study Says Two Thirds of Omicron Cases Are Reinfections” HERE)

The NYT FINALLY Admitted What We’ve Known About Natural Immunity and COVID

The CDC has finally admitted that those with natural immunity had six times the protection as those who were vaccinated when the Delta wave hit. So, obviously—it’s not shocking that those with natural immunity represented a lower percentage of deaths and hospitalizations during this wave. It’s a thing, folks. We’ve known it for months. The experts and the media are just showing up. They’re late to the party (via NYT):

By the week beginning Oct. 3, however, vaccinated people with a prior diagnosis fared best against the Delta variant. Unvaccinated people with a history of Covid also had lower rates of infection and hospitalization than those protected by vaccines alone.

The data are consistent with trends observed in international studies, the researchers said.

Waning of vaccine-derived immunity may explain why vaccinated people were less protected from infection with the Delta variant than those who had a prior diagnosis, the researchers said.

A recent study of employees at the Cleveland Clinic suggested that while vaccination does not add much benefit to a prior bout for the first many months, it may offer better protection against symptomatic illness over the long term than does immunity from a previous infection.

WATCH: Undercover Teens Expose Vaccine Push Without Parental Consent

. . .According to The Denver Post, public schools in Littleton, Colorado, no longer will offer COVID-19 vaccinations after a video purportedly showed students signing up for jabs without parental consent or being asked for identification.

This isn’t the first time schools have been accused of vaccinating children without parental permission. One school in Los Angeles reportedly bribed students as young as 13 with pizza to get vaccinated. Here at The Western Journal, we believe parents — not schools — should decide what’s right for their children. You can help us fight those who believe otherwise by subscribing.

A series of videos were posted by the Twitter account Libs of TikTok (as well as what the Post described as a “far-right website,” which it didn’t identify) showing one student at Heritage High School giving a fake name and lying about his age to pass as older than 18.

Supreme Failure: Biden’s Vaccine Mandate Gets Final Kick in the Face

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will withdraw a rule mandating that private businesses with more than 100 employees require that they be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing against the virus.

OSHA will formally withdraw the rule on Wednesday, according to a document published Tuesday in an advanced version of the Federal Register. The rule, announced in November by President Joe Biden, was immediately challenged by several states and private companies, and the Supreme Court issued a stay on Jan. 13 while federal appeals courts consider its legality.

“After evaluating the Court’s decision, OSHA is withdrawing the Vaccination and Testing ETS as an enforceable emergency temporary standard,” the agency wrote in the Register.

New State Law Would Make It Illegal to Request a Person’s Vaccine Status

A new law proposed in South Carolina could make it illegal for an employer or other organization to ask about a person’s vaccine status.

South Carolina House Bill 4848, also called the “don’t ask” bill, would make questions about a person’s COVID-19 status a misdemeanor crime.

“Notwithstanding another provision of law to the contrary, any employee, officer, agent, or other representative of a public, nonprofit, or private entity who inquires about the COVID-19 vaccination status of any student, employee, member, or anyone else seeking admission on the entity’s premises is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than fourteen thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.” the bill’s text states.

Republican state Rep. Bill Chumley served as one of the co-sponsors of the newly-proposed bill.

“South Carolina didn’t want to get in this fight,” Chumley said, according to FOX Carolina. “It was brought to us by the federal government.” (Read more from “New State Law Would Make It Illegal to Request a Person’s Vaccine Status” HERE)

Hospital Denies Unvaccinated Patient Spot on ‘Active’ Kidney Transplant List (VIDEO)

A man seeking a kidney that could save his life is claiming that he has been denied a place on the active transplant list because of his COVID-19 vaccination status.

Shamgar Connors, 42, is a husband and father of two. He and his wife, a nurse, decided against taking the COVID-19 vaccine after the entire family suffered through the disease last year. However, a doctor at University of Virginia (UVA) Hospital allegedly told him that despite his prior COVID-19 infection, his unvaccinated status will not allow him an “active” spot on the list for a life-saving kidney transplant.

“Art said you’re not interested in the COVID vaccine,” UVA Hospital’s Dr. Karen Warburton said to Connors, according to a recording of the call obtained by Fox News Digital. “So, it is a requirement for you to be active.”

According to the UVA Hospital website, Dr. Warburton is an associate professor with an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certification in nephrology, a specialization of internal medicine focused on the kidneys. Her clinical practice is centered on pancreas and kidney transplants.

“I just had COVID, so I don’t — so why would I get the vaccine?” Connors responded on the phone. However, the hospital did not budge, according to Connors.

Young Dad Removed From Heart Transplant List Because He’s Unvaxxed (VIDEO)

A 31-year-old father has been removed from the heart transplant list at a Boston hospital because he is refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine, his family said.

DJ Ferguson was first on the list to receive the transplant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital — but he is no longer eligible because of his vaccination status, CBS Boston reported.

His father, David Ferguson, said his son — who is fighting for his life in the hospital and is in desperate need of the transplant — doesn’t believe in the COVID-19 vaccine.

“It’s kind of against his basic principles, he doesn’t believe in it. It’s a policy they are enforcing and so because he won’t get the shot, they took him off the list of a heart transplant,” David told the outlet.
