By Susan Ferrechio.

Senate Democrats, facing an increasing threat of losing their majority in November, rolled out an ambitious and populist legislative agenda on Wednesday that aims to rally their base and divert voter attention away from the unpopular health reform law.

The agenda, which includes a minimum wage bill and legislation to ensure women and men are paid equally by making it easier for employees to file lawsuits, has no chance of becoming law because the Republican-run House will not take up any of the proposals.

But Democrats hope to benefit from the effort by contrasting themselves against Republicans, who they portray as a party that only cares about big corporations and the rich.

Democrats are calling their plan the “Fair Shot for Everyone” agenda.

“While Republicans defend a system that benefits huge corporations and a few at the top, Democrats will go on offense with a positive agenda that has broad support among liberals, conservatives and moderates,” Democratic leaders announced in a press release issued before they addressed reporters on Wednesday.

Democrat Tells Americans: You’re Too Stupid to Use Our Wonderful Healthcare.gov Website

By Bryan Preston.

When it debuted in October 2013, Healthcare.gov wasn’t finished. The backend that verifies payments didn’t even work. It had major security flaws. It could not handle even a trickle of the traffic that its designers, the U.S. federal government, should have anticipated.

But Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) has a message for Americans who’ve had trouble using that site: It’s your fault.

“We have hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up who didn’t get through,” he said. “There are some people who are not like my grandchildren who can handle everything so easily on the Internet, and these people need a little extra time. It’s not — the example they gave us is a 63-year-old woman came into the store and said, ‘I almost got it. Every time I just about got there, it would cut me off.’ We have a lot of people just like this through no fault of the Internet, but because people are not educated on how to use the Internet.” Emphasis added.

Photo Credit: downtownelgin / Creative Commons An Illinois lawmaker who recently resigned his seat is under investigation for possession of child pornography.

Authorities from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations seized electronics from Keith Farnham’s state office last week and are seeking child pornography materials, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The warrant states they are searching for “documents in any format or medium pertaining to the possession, receipt, or distribution of child pornography,” the newspaper reported.

Thomas Frank: When Clinton, Obama Sold ‘Hope,’ They Sold Out Rank-and-File Democrats

What’s the Matter With Kansas? author Thomas Frank believes the matter with Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as presidential campaigners was that they spent too much time “selling tidy homilies” about “hope” and too little advocating ideas such as single-payer health care. Frank stated his case Sunday in his latest weekly column for the liberal online magazine Salon.

Frank suggests that all the non-ideological rhetoric of hope from Clinton and Obama presaged the sort of lefty-disappointing policies they’ve often yielded (e.g., “Clinton’s deregulations [and] Obama’s spying program”). In that regard, he comments, they’re typical of Democrats over the past three-plus decades:

…Maybe [‘hope’] and these two presidents’ fecklessness actually complement and explain one another. Maybe ‘hope’ is the ideal philosophical doctrine for a party determined to dump its old constituents and chart a brave new course in a marketized world. As a slogan, ‘hope’ is vague and ethereal…but perhaps that is what makes it the consummate brand identity for a party that so often triangulates away the concerns of its rank and file…

Moreover, declares Frank, “this particular platitude is not harmless…To describe politics in terms of ‘hope’…allows [Democrats] to sell us out over and over.”

Shocking Video: Democrat Official Gives Hitler Salute During a Discussion about Government Transparency

Photo Credit: Palm Beach Post The embattled planning board member who gave the Hitler salute during a public meeting last week has offered her resignation.

Wellington village leaders, employees and residents have expressed outrage since Marcia Radosevich referenced the Nazi dictator during a Planning, Zoning & Adjustment Board meeting March 5, when she directed the gesture at the village’s planning director.

In a letter late Thursday to the Wellington Village Council, Radosevich apologized for her actions and said, “Although I have been asked to remain on the PZAB, I am offering my resignation … so that the public and the village council can focus on important issues regarding the government’s responsibilities to us.”

It’s unclear whether the village council must vote to accept her resignation. Village hall is closed on Fridays.

Councilman Matt Willhite, who appointed Radosevich to the planning board in 2012, said Friday her resignation is “probably for the best.”

Obama and The Democrats Plot To Control America

Photo Credit: WNDBarack Obama’s presidency will come to an end. The legacy of pain he will leave behind will not — at least for years to come. He and his fellow Democrats plan to keep their grip on the levers of power-even if they lose control of Congress and the White House. And they will do so with “invisible hands” gone but not forgotten.

Every first-term president has a single compelling desire: to win a second term. But for Obama and his liberal allies to accomplish a second major goal, to “fundamentally transform America,” requires more than two terms. Their agenda depends on fundamentally transforming our government and how its vast powers will be deployed.

How was this done?

The trillion-dollar so called “stimulus” bill was the first major step to vastly increase our spending and deficits. It was a sign of things to come. Budget-breaking binges have followed with no serious efforts to control our massive federal debt. The Democrats have run up more red ink than all previous administrations combined.

The entitlement crisis has been a crisis that has not been allowed to go to waste. Under Obama’s feeble economy and sputtering “recovery” (the weakest in modern history), spending on welfare, food stamps, and disability payments have soared. Hooking people onto the government IV line is an excellent way to increase dependency and the number of future dependable Democrats. It is also an excellent way to bankrupt America.

Republican Beats Out Dem in Florida Special Election

Photo Credit: Fox News Republican David Jolly narrowly defeated Democrat Alex Sink on Tuesday in a Tampa-area House race largely seen as a critical test for ObamaCare.

With nearly 100 percent of the vote counted, Jolly had 48.5 percent of the vote to Sink’s 46.7 percent. Libertarian Lucas Overby had 4.8 percent.

The race to replace the late Rep. Bill Young was considered a tossup, and was cast as a political bellwether, and a testing ground for each party’s messaging strategy — which revolves in part around the Affordable Care Act.

Jolly’s election night headquarters in Clearwater Beach erupted into loud cheers as it became clear he was the winner. In his victory speech, Jolly simultaneously struck a conciliatory tone and expressed gratitude for his mentor, Young, and Young’s family. Jolly was introduced by former “Price is Right” game show host Bob Barker, via video. Young’s two adult sons were also onstage with Jolly, and he embraced them at the end of his speech.

Jolly didn’t mention the issue that dominated much of the campaign — the president’s health care package — and instead said that Pinellas County must work together.

Top Democrat Sees Another Train Wreck Coming for Own Party

Photo Credit: WNDA former high-ranking Clinton administration official and law partner with Hillary Clinton sees potential political disaster for Democrats in 2014 over Obama administration health-care policies.

But it’s not just Obamacare that has Webb Hubbell, former chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and associate attorney general of the U.S., concerned about the political fortunes of his party. It’s what he calls “tinkering with Medicare, the tried and true social insurance program that so many older Americans rely on – which so many future older Americans will rely on, too.”

“You have to wonder why the administration would hand the Republicans such a gift,” he writes in a commentary piece in WND today.

What concerns Hubbell, who served 21 months in prison in the 1990s after pleading guilty to federal charges of overbilling clients at the Rose Law Firm where he was partnered with Hillary Clinton and Vince Foster, is a proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services to allow insurance companies to limit Medicare coverage for certain classes of drugs, including anti-rejection medications for transplant patients and medications to treat depression and schizophrenia in the elderly.

“The proposal isn’t based on a needs analysis but on an actuarial cost study that has drug companies, patient advocates and both Democrats and Republicans in Congress all up in arms,” says Hubbell. “And when Republicans and Democrats agree on anything, we all stand up and take notice.”

Dem Says GOP Would Back Abortion ‘If Their Daughter Got Pregnant by a Black Man’

Photo Credit: MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty ImagesAn Alabama Democrat with a history of making incendiary racial remarks claimed that Republicans wouldn’t oppose abortion “if their daughter got pregnant by a black man.”

Alvin Holmes, a black Democrat who represents Montgomery, was debating Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin, a Republican who had proposed a bill that would ban abortions of fetuses with a detectable heartbeat.

The Tuesday debate quickly steered towards race, with Holmes saying that Republican support for abortion was based on a double standard.

“Ninety-nine percent of all of the white people in here are going to raise their hand that they are against abortion,” said Holmes, according to the Huntsville Times. “On the other hand, 99 percent of the whites who are sitting in here now, if their daughter got pregnant by a black man, they are going to make their daughter have an abortion.”

“She’s got two other white children and then she’s going to have a little black baby going to be running around there, in the living room, in the den, with the rest of them,” Holmes continued.

Obama: Dems Paid ‘Dear Price’ in 2010 Midterms

Photo Credit: ReutersPresident Barack Obama says Democrats paid a “dear price” for not paying enough attention to the 2010 midterm elections and urged donors to not repeat the same mistakes this year.

Democrats lost control of the House and gave up seats in the Senate in the 2010 midterms. Speaking at a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Obama says Democrats may be good at presidential elections, but “get a little sleepy” in the midterms.

Biden to Democrats: Don’t Apologize in 2014

Photo Credit: AP/Susan WalshVice President Joe Biden on Thursday told Democrats to stop apologizing for their policies and go on offense as party leaders try to overcome pessimism about prospects for the November election.

At a Democratic National Committee gathering, Biden said he and President Barack Obama have an obligation to raise money and campaign for the party’s candidates. He said he has signed up to participate in more than 120 races and that Obama has given him permission to participate in every campaign where he can be helpful.

“I am so tired about hearing about the demise of the Democratic Party. Give me a break,” Biden said. “My central message to you is look: I think we should not apologize for a single thing.”

In his pep talk to state chairmen, the vice president tried to portray the party as starting on solid ground as campaigning gears up.

“There is no Republican Party,” Biden said, accusing the GOP of masquerading as conservative while actually espousing anti-government views that he said Americans reject.
