DOJ Sues State to Reverse Ban on Trans Treatments for Minors

The Department of Justice sued Tennessee on Wednesday over a state law prohibiting transgender hormone treatments and surgeries for minors.

Tennessee’s ban on sex-change treatments for minors violates the Equal Protection Clause, the DOJ said in a statement. The law discriminates against “transgender youth” diagnosed with gender dysphoria, blocking sex-change treatments for them “while allowing non-transgender minors access to the same or similar procedures.”

“No person should be denied access to necessary medical care just because of their transgender status,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, who leads the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division. “The right to consider your health and medically-approved treatment options with your family and doctors is a right that everyone should have, including transgender children, who are especially vulnerable to serious risks of depression, anxiety and suicide. Hunter Biden’s Lawyers to Meet DOJ as Special Counsel Remains Unnamed by Garland

Hunter Biden’s lawyers will reportedly meet in coming days with U.S. prosecutor David Weiss and one Justice Department official after an IRS agent alleged the improper politicization of a tax probe into the president’s son — all while Attorney General Merrick Garland refuses to name a special counsel in the case.

As far back as May 2019, Hunter has been under investigation by the DOJ for tax fraud, money laundering, and violation of lobbying laws. Federal prosecutors, led by Weiss, have reportedly considered charging Hunter over a year ago for three tax crimes and one gun crime.

Though Hunter has so far avoided indictment, prosecutors could bring charges against him, sources familiar with the investigation told CNN. In the coming days, the case will be discussed between the DOJ, Weiss, and Hunter’s attorney, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Apparently Hunter’s lawyers called for the meeting.

On Wednesday, an IRS whistleblower alleged two Biden administration political appointees within the DOJ are working to block charges against Hunter for tax violations against recommendations. Trans Perp Who Admitted to Vandalizing Catholic Church, Assaulting Worker Offered No-Jail-Time Plea Deal From Biden’s DOJ

A transgender perpetrator who admitted to vandalizing a Catholic church and assaulting a worker was offered a plea deal from Biden’s Department of Justice that recommended no jail time.

Maeve Nota, a 31-year-old individual who identifies as transgender, admitted to vandalizing St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington, by spray-painting graffiti, shattering doors, destroying a statue of the Virgin Mary, and assaulting a member of the church staff.

Nota spray-painted the outside of the church with profane and offensive messages, including “F*** Catholics,” “rot in your fake hell,” “kid groomers,” “religion of hate,” “rapists,” and “woman haters.”

Surveillance footage from the incident captured Nota kicking and smashing the two glass doors with a rock.

Nota attempted to flee the scene when followed by a church employee. Nota admitted to spray-painting the worker’s face during the chase. The employee also reported being hit by a rock thrown by the vandal. DOJ Probing TikTok Over Allegations of Spying on U.S. Tech Journalists

The Justice Department is investigating claims that the Chinese company that owns TikTok has been spying on US tech journalists, according to a report Friday.

The probe into ByteDance stems from the company’s acknowledgment in December that employees had obtained data of US TikTok users, some of whom were reporters, the New York Times said.

Sources told The Times that the Justice Department, along with the FBI and the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, are looking into how ByteDance employees were able to access that data.

The Justice Department did not respond to an inquiry from the Times or The Post, and the specific scope of the investigation is unclear.

DOJ Says Trump Can Be Sued Over January 6

The Justice Department (DOJ) said Thursday that former President Donald Trump can be sued in connection to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Attorneys for the DOJ Civil Division filed a court brief in response to the D.C. U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals asking the agency to respond to Trump’s claim of absolute immunity in a bid to dismiss the civil lawsuits brought against him.

“Speaking to the public on matters of public concern is a traditional function of the Presidency, and the outer perimeter of the President’s Office includes a vast realm of such speech,” government lawyers wrote. (Read more from “DOJ Says Trump Can Be Sued Over January 6” HERE)

DOJ Chooses Not to Charge Matt Gaetz in Sex-Trafficking Investigation

The Justice Department (DOJ) has formally decided not to charge Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) in a sex-trafficking investigation.

“The Department of Justice has confirmed to Congressman Gaetz’s attorneys that their investigation has concluded and that he will not be charged with any crimes,” Gaetz’s office told The Daily Wire on Wednesday.

CNN first reported that DOJ officials informed witnesses of the decision by DOJ leadership. The Daily Wire reached out to the DOJ for comment.

Investigators were reportedly looking into whether Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl, participated in sex trafficking, and obstructed justice in the ensuing probe. An alleged trip to the Bahamas in 2018 was of particular interest, according to CBS News.

Gaetz, 40, has long denied any wrongdoing. The congressman said he never paid for sex. He also asserted that he never had sex with a minor, claiming he only had sex with a 17-year-old when he was 17, per The Washington Post. Report: DOJ Weighs Searching More Locations Linked to Joe Biden for Classified Docs

The Justice Department (DOJ) is reportedly considering launching additional searches for classified documents at more locations linked to President Joe Biden, CBS News reported Sunday.

The potential for additional searches comes as the DOJ scoured Biden’s Wilmington residence Friday and found six more items consisting of with classified marking, according to Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer. The content of the classified materials is unknown.

Bauer claimed Saturday that Biden offered to allow the FBI to conduct the search led by the DOJ. It is unclear if Biden has offered to permit the DOJ to conduct further searches at separate locations linked to Biden.

The White House had previously claimed on January 14 that all searches for all classified documents were completed.

White House, DOJ Worked Together to Conceal Biden’s Classified Doc Scandal: Report

The White House and the Department of Justice (DOJ) worked together to conceal the discovery of President Joe Biden’s classified documents for months, according to The Washington Post (WaPo).

Days after the first trove of documents was discovered at the Penn Biden Center, a senior official in the DOJ wrote a letter to Biden’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, asking for him to cooperate in the inquiry, WaPo reported.

The official also asked Bauer to get the documents but to not look inside, and requested for him to disclose where more documents could be located, according to the outlet. More documents were discovered at Biden’s Delaware residence Dec. 20, Jan. 10 and Jan. 11.

The White House had initially endeavored to find out how the documents had gotten to the Penn Biden Center and other locations, but on Nov. 10, the DOJ said it would be taking over the investigation, two anonymous sources told WaPo.

GOP Is Holding Democrats Accountable for the Border Crisis

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who is set to be the leader of the House Judiciary Committee, is calling on 11 Department of Homeland Security officials to give voluntary testimony and compliance as Republicans launch an investigation into the border crisis and the politicization of the Justice Department.

In a letter, Jordan criticized ten officials, including DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, over “serious allegations of abuse and misconduct within the senior leadership.”

For the past 21 months, Republicans have investigated the lawlessness of the department that has allowed for chaos at the border. Since the GOP won the House, those investigations will intensify.

“Over the past twenty-one months, we have made several requests for information and documents concerning the operations and actions of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its components,” Jordan’s letter states. “To date, you have ignored these requests, or you have failed to respond sufficiently.” (Read more from “GOP Is Holding Democrats Accountable for the Border Crisis” HERE)

Senator: Hundreds of FBI Agents Resigned Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, reportedly received documents from a whistleblower showing hundreds of FBI agents resigned between 2004 to 2020 amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Grassley’s office shared information about a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) internal report titled “Retirements and Resignations During Unwelcome Sexual Conduct Adjudications.”

According to that document:

665 FBI employees, including 45 [Senior Executive Service (SES)]-level employees have retired or resigned following an FBI or [Justice Department Office of Inspector General (OIG)] investigation into alleged misconduct, but prior to [the Office of Professional Responsibility’s (OPR)] issuance of a final disciplinary letter.
