The Department of Justice on Friday charged 44-year-old Russian Elena Alekseevna Khusyaynova of meddling in the United States’ midterm elections. Khusyaynova allegedly oversaw the finances of “Project Lakhta,”an international influence operation geared at causing commotion on social media.
“Project Lakhta” pushed “arguments and misinformation online about a host of divisive political issues, including immigration, the Confederate flag, gun control and National Football League protests during the national anthem,” the Washington Post reported. The efforts also focused heavily on mass shootings that took place in Charleston, Las Vegas and Charlottesville, CNN reported.
“The conspiracy has a strategic goal, which continues to this day, to sow division and discord in the US political system, including by creating social and political polarization, undermining faith in democratic institutions, and influencing US elections, including the upcoming 2018 midterm election,” the criminal complaint in the Eastern District of Virginia said Friday. . .
Yevgeniy Viktorovich Prigozhin, a close friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is said to be behind the two companies, Concord Management and Consulting LLC, and Concord Catering, who started the project, CBS News reported. . .
“Colored LGBT are less sophisticated than white; therefore, complicated phrases and messages do not work,” the guidance said, Business Insider reported. “Be careful dealing with racial content. Just like ordinary Blacks, Latinos, and Native Americans, colored LGBT people are very sensitive toward #whiteprivilege and they react to posts and pictures that favor white people.” (Read more from “Justice Department Charged a Russian With Meddling in the Midterm Elections” HERE)

A Department of Justice employee who helped orchestrate a protest against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has been fired and is now asking supporters to donate money for her living expenses and legal fees for a potential lawsuit.
Allison Hrabar’s background was first reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation following an incident where she and other activists chased Nielsen out of a restaurant in June. After the incident, Hrabar told a Washington Examiner reporter that she worked for the federal government and was protected by the First Amendment.
“We aren’t the only ones who can do this. Anyone who sees Kirstjen Nielsen at dinner, anyone who sees anyone who works at DHS and [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] at dinner can confront them like this, and that’s what we hope this will inspire people to do,” Hrabar said at the time.
The Justice Department did not renew Hrabar’s contract Monday following evidence — some of which was discovered by TheDCNF — that she was organizing protests for the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America during her time at work as a paralegal for the DOJ. . .
“When I got to work on September 24, I was met at the door by security and forced to pack up my office. I was told, again, that this was merely a non-renewal of my term,” she added. “I don’t regret standing up for immigrants unable to advocate for themselves. My only concern is that the Assistant Attorney General’s decision to force me out of a job has left me without insurance to cover my high medical costs, and without an income to cover the legal fees needed to fight back.” (Read more from “Fired Justice Department Employee Sets up Gofundme” HERE)
Resistance leader Allison Hrabar said in an undercover video that as a federal employee, she couldn’t be fired, but she may have overstated her case.
Project Veritas released a statement Monday from Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores indicating that Ms. Hrabar, formerly a federal paralegal, has either resigned or been dismissed. . .
DEVELOPING AT JUSTICE DEPT: DOJ Director of Public Affairs Sarah Isgur Flores confirmed to Project Veritas regarding official we caught discussing resistance inside DOJ, saying: “She is no longer an employee.” #DeepStateUnmaskedpic.twitter.com/RfGT7bufJm
In an undercover video released last week, Ms. Hrabar described her work for the anti-Trump resistance as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, which included running license plate numbers at work to find the address of a lobbyist.
She admitted that she was not permitted to do so “officially.” Other DSA members said that she used the department’s Lexis Nexis system to ferret out the addresses of protest targets. . .
Ms. Hrabar was also part of a band of activists that chased Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from a Mexican food restaurant in June. (Read more from “Activist Federal Staffer Who Said She ‘Can’t Really Get Fired’ No Longer Working at DOJ” HERE)

A video uploaded by Project Veritas on Wednesday shows Department of Justice employees detailing how they “resist” the current administration from inside the government.
Project Veritas was founded by James O’Keefe and is dedicated to investigating and exposing “corruption, dishonesty, self-dealing, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions in order to achieve a more ethical and transparent society,” according to its website.
Statements made by both a paralegal at the DOJ and a former Health and Human Services employee in the video amount to what Project Veritas attorney Ben Barr outlines as illegal leaks inside the government.
The video included footage of activist members of the Democratic Socialists of America who work at the Department of Justice and admitted to using government resources to find out personal information about government officials that they wanted to protest against, including their home addresses.
Jessica Schubel who is the former Chief of Staff for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services during the last Obama administration says that “There’s like a little resistance movement” inside the government. She admitted to an undercover Project Veritas journalist that someone who currently works inside Health and Human services gives her information before it is released, even admitting that the information was confidential.
Department of Justice paralegal Allison Hrabar is reportedly one of the DOJ employees who is using government resources to further her own political cause. She made the news in June after taking part in a protest that chased Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from a restaurant.
According to Hrabar, “There’s a lot of talk about how we can like, resist from inside,” at the Department of Justice.
She also talked about a fellow federal employee who works for the US Department of Agriculture who slows down the process of removing individuals from the food stamps program.
“We have a member who works for the people who distribute food stamps, and they can like take that away, and they’re slowing what they do … what they’re doing means that people are going to be able to stay on food stamps for another month or two, which is like really important.”
As for Hrabar herself, she appears to be using government resources to find the individuals that the Democratic Socialists of America want to protest. Fellow DSA member, Cliff Green, appeared on video and spoke about how Hrabar finds the homes of the objectionable Trump administration officials.
“So Allison is a paralegal, so she, her living is researching people, so she’s very good at researching people. So, they just find the companies, and then the people that run those companies, and then they find their home address. She uses Lexis Nexis and a couple other software things.”
Natarajan Subramanian, who serves as an auditor for the Government Accountability Office and fellow DSA member, explained to a Project Veritas journalists that Hrabar uses her work computer for her research. Subramanian said, “That’s the kind of thing that you would get fired for … people do not have the silver bullet, the smoking gun or whatever. Um, if they were able to get proof of that, you know? So, we’re all walking that line.”
Hrabar explained, at one point that she had dug into records, finding that a government official they wished to protest against had moved, so she had to dig deeper. After finding what they thought was the new home of the official she explained: “And so we ran the license plate, and it was a car registered to (the official) … and someone saw him through the window, which is also …”
A Project Veritas journalist asked if they were able to run the plates, to which Hrabar responded that they can, but not officially.
A spokesperson for the Department of Justice issued a response to Project Veritas, saying:
“These allegations are deeply concerning. Department policy prohibits misuse of government resources to advance personal interests. We are looking into this immediately and have referred this matter to the Inspector General as well.”
Project Veritas President James O’Keefe said that this video “may be the largest case of unaccountability in our government that has ever been exposed.”
“Through our undercover reports, we now have proof of government employees leaking confidential information and using government resources to advance their resistance of official government policies they disagree with,” O’Keefe said.
“These videos are the Deep State incarnate, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.” (For more from the author of “Watch: Undercover Video Catches Socialist DOJ Staffer ‘Resisting From the Inside’” please click HERE)

Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr told Congress earlier this week that he informed half a dozen FBI and Justice Department officials about his contacts with dossier author Christopher Steele and opposition researcher Glenn Simpson.
Sources familiar with Ohr’s testimony before the House Judiciary and House Oversight Committees told The Daily Caller News Foundation that Ohr informed Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page about his interactions with Steele and Simpson. He also informed Justice Department prosecutor Andrew Weissmann about his dossier-related work. . .
Ohr testified that he informed his Justice Department peers, but not his superiors, about his contacts with Steele and Simpson. One of the superiors kept out of the loop was former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates. Ohr said he was demoted as assistant deputy attorney general in December because he failed to tell Yates and other top officials about his dossier interactions.
Republicans have sought an interview with Ohr to find out why he maintained contact with Steele even after the FBI decided to cut ties with the former British spy just before the 2016 election. The FBI said in applications for spy warrants against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page that the bureau dropped Steele as an informant because he had unauthorized contacts with the media. Despite that, Ohr met and spoke with Steele numerous times through May 2017. Ohr debriefed the FBI at least 12 times following his post-election contacts with Steele.
Weissmann’s contact with Ohr about the dossier is significant because of the mutual interest that Weissmann and Fusion’s Simpson had in former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. (Read more from “Here Is Who Bruce Ohr Did and Did Not Tell About His Dossier Contacts” HERE)

President Trump on Wednesday said if the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation do not look into China hacking Hillary Clinton’s emails their credibility will take a significant blow.
“Hillary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China. Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!” he tweeted.
The president’s tweet comes one day after a Daily Caller report about how Clinton’s private email server was hacked by a Chinese company, which served as a front for the Chinese government and forwarded every email to them in real time.
A Chinese-owned company operating in the Washington, D.C., area hacked Hillary Clinton’s private server throughout her term as secretary of state and obtained nearly all her emails, two sources briefed on the matter told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Chinese firm obtained Clinton’s emails in real time as she sent and received communications and documents through her personal server, according to the sources, who said the hacking was conducted as part of an intelligence operation.

Communication between Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and Christopher Steele reveals Ohr’s deep involvement with the unverified dossier and the alleged surveillance of Trump campaign officials.
Fox News reviewed emails, texts and handwritten notes exchanged by the two men. Steele is the author of the dossier, which Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid Fusion GPS to create, and was used to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
Steele, according to Ohr’s documents, was “very concerned about (former FBI Director James) Comey’s firing — afraid they will be exposed.”
According to Fox News, Steele had also asked Ohr to help with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska after rumors of U.S. imposed sanctions on Russia started circulating. They reportedly communicated even after Steele was cut as a source for giving confidential information to the media.
During his congressional testimony, former FBI agent Peter Strzok said that “the FBI received documents and material from Mr. Ohr.”
“Bruce Ohr, the fourth-ranking official at the Department of Justice, his wife works for Fusion GPS in the summer. He gets information and passed it to the FBI. That becomes the basis to spy on the Trump campaign, plain and simple,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity after Strzok’s testimony.
“This is the first time to my knowledge the FBI has admitted that, and it was good that we got some of that information out today.”
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced on Wednesday that Trump revoked former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance.
“First, at this point in my administration, any benefits that senior officials might glean from consultations with Brennan are now outweighed by the risks posed by his erratic conduct and behavior,” he said. “Second, the conduct and behavior far exceeded the limits of any professional courtesy that may have been due him.”
In addition to Brennan, according to The Hill, Sanders announced that Trump is reviewing security clearances for former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former National Security Administration Director Michael Hayden, and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, among others.
On Friday, Trump said that he suspects he will “very quickly” revoke Ohr’s security clearance for his involvement in the dossier.
Ohr will testify before members of the Oversight and Judiciary Committees on Aug. 28, the Washington Examiner reported.
The Justice Department official will have to “answer why he had 60+ contacts with dossier author, Chris Steele, as far back as January 2016,” Rep. Mark Meadows said. “He owes the American public the full truth.”
House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy added, “We are going to be back and we are going to interview Bruce Ohr. Not in a public circus setting but in a deposition with no time limits and we are going to get to the bottom of what he did, why he did it, who he did it in concert with, whether he had the permission of the supervisors at the Department of Justice.” (For more from the author of “Uncovered DOJ Texts Reveal Secret Fear of Being ‘Exposed’” please click HERE)
The Daily Caller News Foundation is suing the Department of Justice for failing to produce records regarding the Columbia University professor who received four memos from former FBI Director James Comey, one of which was leaked to The New York Times.
Cause of Action Institute, a conservative nonprofit watchdog, filed the lawsuit on behalf of TheDCNF Monday after the Justice Department and the FBI failed to produce any records related to Daniel Richman in response to the news organization’s April 25 Freedom of Information Act request.
Richman is a long-time friend and confidante of Comey and obtained at least four of the former FBI director’s memos about his conversations with President Donald Trump, two of which contained classified information, according to news reports. He leaked at least one Comey memo to The New York Times.
Meanwhile, Comey, in a July 5, 2016 press conference, absolved then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton of any criminal activity in using her private server for government business while she served as secretary of state, saying that she was “extremely careless,” but not grossly negligent in using a private server for official government business. Gross negligence would constitute a federal offense tied to the mishandling of classified government secrets.
Comey hired Richman as a special government employee, or SGE, to conduct an assortment of personal duties for him, including the task of developing “talking points” about the bureau’s investigation of Clinton’s use of a private email server. Newly released documents confirm House and Senate investigators’ claims that the Department of Justice and FBI used materially false and misleading information to secure wiretaps on Carter Page, a former volunteer foreign policy advisor to President Trump. The highly redacted documents released in response to Freedom of Information Act requests show how the FBI was able to convince the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to surveil the Naval Academy graduate and energy consultant for a year of his life.
The wiretap was applied for and granted in October 2016, shortly before the end of the presidential campaign. Approved applications last for 90 days. The Department of Justice requested and received three renewals, for a total of one year of surveillance. Despite claiming to the court in 2016 that “the FBI believes that Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government,” the government has yet to charge Page with breaking any of the serious laws it alleges he knowingly transgressed. . .
s members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Senate Judiciary Committee previously reported, a salacious and unverified dossier was essential to the government’s case for spying on Page. The information from the dossier is presented to the court as if it’s believable.
For instance, the application states, “the FBI has learned that Page met with at least two Russian officials during this trip.” The only way it learned that was through the dossier. Steele’s claim that Page had a “secret meeting with Igor Sechin, who is the President of Rosneft [a Russian energy company] and a close associate to Russian President Putin” to lift sanctions is included.
Another secret meeting with Igor Nikolayevich Divyekin to discuss releasing dirt on “Candidate #2” to “Candidate #1’s campaign” is mentioned. Also, while Page had left the campaign by the time the wiretap was sought, it is clear that the FBI believed its wiretap would find information on the Trump campaign, stating that the “Russian government’s efforts are being coordinated with Page and perhaps other individuals associated” with the Trump campaign. In an unprecedented move, the Department of Justice has released 412 pages of top secret documents related to surveillance conducted against former Trump campaign chairman Carter Page. . .
A memo released by Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has revealed that the Justice Department and FBI relied heavily on the Democrat-funded Steele dossier in the FISA applications, despite the dossier being mostly uncorroborated now and at the time it was used in the applications.
In the dossier, former British spy Christopher Steele alleged that during a trip to Moscow in July 2016, Page met secretly with two sanctioned Kremlin insiders, Igor Sechin and Igor Diveykin, as part of a collusion scheme involving the Trump campaign. . .
“This is an unprecedented moment in FOIA transparency, as never before has a FISA warrant been processed for release,” Bradley Moss, a national security attorney who filed one of the numerous lawsuits for the Page documents, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“Now, with the actual documents in hand, not political spin written by lawmakers with agendas, the American public can make their own decision on whether anything was inappropriate about the surveillance of Carter Page,” added Moss.
