While all eyes are on South Carolina following New Hampshire’s Republican primary on Tuesday, one state will hold its nominating contests two weeks earlier — Nevada.

Nevada is holding a state primary on Feb. 6 and a party-run caucus two days later, but only one of the nominating contests will count for awarding delegates to the Republican National Committee’s July convention. While former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will be on the primary ballot, former President Donald Trump is the only major Republican candidate competing for delegates in the Nevada GOP-run caucus.

“I know that some people got angry when CNN called Iowa before people voted, but you could’ve called Nevada months ago,” Jeremy Hughes, a Republican strategist based in Nevada, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Nevada Republican Party had been holding caucuses in presidential cycles for decades until former Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak signed legislation in 2021 requiring a primary system for such elections. The state GOP has pushed back against the new law, deciding to hold the caucus anyway and award the 26 delegates proportionally through its results.

Trump to Appeal E. Jean Carroll Ruling Over Alleged ‘Insane’ Conflict of Interest

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team plans to appeal the $83.3 million decision in the defamation lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll due to an alleged “insane” conflict of interest with the presiding judge.

As Breitbart News reported Friday, a jury awarded “an additional $83.3 million to former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who says former President Donald Trump damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.” . . .

Over the weekend, Donald Trump’s legal team said they will appeal the ruling, with attorney Alina Habba claiming they were unaware of the fact Judge Lewis Kaplan had previously mentored E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, in the 1990s. Despite similar last names, the two have no relation. . .

“It was never disclosed. It’s insane and so incestuous,” Habba said, alleging that the past relationship had never been disclosed.

According to the Daily Mail, the conflict-of-interest allegations erupted from an “anonymous former Weiss partner, who reportedly claimed Roberta Kaplan — a junior associate — made an extra effort to stand out to the managing partners.” (Read more from “Trump to Appeal E. Trump Ordered to Pay $83.3 Million to E. Jean Carroll in Damages for Defamation, Former President Explodes: ‘This Is Not America!’

Former President Donald Trump was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages to E. Jean Carroll for defaming her, a New York jury decided on Friday afternoon. The former president lashed out over the decision on social media.

The nine-person jury began deliberations in federal court at 1:40 p.m., and they reached a verdict in less than three hours. However, Trump reportedly exited the courthouse around 4 p.m., before the jury delivered its verdict in the trial that began on Jan. 16.

The jury came to the conclusion that Trump made defamatory comments toward Carroll while in the White House in June 2019, and the verdict was announced by federal Judge Lewis A. Kaplan.

The jury decided Trump must pay $18.3 million in compensatory damages, including $11 million for damage done to Carroll’s reputation and $7.3 million for emotional harm and other damages. In addition, Trump was also ordered to pay a whopping $65 million in punitive damages – for a total of $83.3 million. . .

Trump furiously reacted to the jury’s decision in an enraged diatribe on Truth Social.

The survey, conducted from January 24-26, 2024, among 543 likely GOP primary voters, revealed that Trump commands a substantial 27-point lead over Haley, securing 58 percent support compared to her 31 percent. With 11 percent of voters remaining undecided, the findings underscore Trump’s continued popularity within the Republican base.

Among registered Republicans, Trump maintains an even more commanding lead, with a staggering 41-point advantage over Haley. The numbers show Trump at 69 percent compared to the former governor’s 28 percent. Even among independent voters, Trump outpaces Haley by 15 points, with 48 percent support to her 33 percent. However, Haley manages to secure a significant lead among Democrat voters, with 49 percent favoring her over Trump’s five percent.

Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley on Friday attempted to advance her campaign’s narrative that former President Donald Trump is “confused,” sharing a statement he made in a video but misinterpreting what he actually said — at least, according to many social media users, who quickly dunked on her.

Trump released a video statement on E. Jean Carroll — a woman whom Democrat operatives, including Reid Hoffman, back — who has admitted to visiting convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s “Pedophile Island. Carroll has sued Trump for defamation after he vehemently denied her claims that he sexually assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the early 1990s. The accuser’s second defamation trial is underway as the jury determines the amount in damages to be paid. . .

Haley, however, tried to use the video to dunk on Trump, asserting that he was confused, as she apparently believes Trump got Carroll and Haley confused when he stated, “You have somebody running for office”:

RNC Withdraws Resolution to Declare Trump Nominee Following Backlash

A Republican National Committee member has withdrawn a draft resolution that would have declared former President Donald Trump the presumptive nominee in 2024 on Thursday following backlash and Trump’s own opposition.

Maryland RNC Committeeman Dave Bossie withdrew his resolution to declare Trump presumptive nominee after his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire and dominance over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley in polls of the remaining states, a source familiar confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

The draft resolution claimed Haley had no mathematical path to the nomination and cited the need to prepare for a general election matchup with President Joe Biden.

When news broke of the proposed resolution, Haley spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas responded, asking, “Who cares what the RNC says?”

“We’ll let millions of Republican voters across the country decide who should be our party’s nominee, not a bunch of Washington insiders,” she added.

Fani Willis and Nathan Wade Facing Subpoenas Over Alleged Affair and Financial Entanglements

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade are expected to face subpoenas amid allegations of an extramarital affair and questionable financial ties.

The controversy came to light as Wade and a former/current law partner were informed to anticipate subpoenas for a hearing scheduled on February 15. The hearing aims to address claims made by Mike Roman, one of Trump’s co-defendants, alleging an improper romantic relationship between Willis and Wade and accusations of mishandling public funds.

Roman’s attorney emphasized that the real issue revolves around the impropriety of having Wade on the team and presenting the case to the grand jury, citing conflicts of interest and the appearance of impropriety. Roman has pushed for the case’s dismissal due to these alleged conflicts.

Regardless of the hearing’s outcome, the allegations against Willis and Wade are the latest distractions in their high-profile case against Trump and his co-defendants. The list of improprieties dates back to 2021 when Willis hired Wade.

Wade’s divorce filing a day after signing a lucrative contract with Willis raised eyebrows, especially as bank statements revealed he covered at least two plane trips for himself and Willis. Willis paid Wade an hourly rate higher than the state’s best-credentialed prosecutor for a similar case against Trump. Wade allegedly earned over $650,000 on the case.

The tangled web includes Wade being held in contempt of court in an unrelated case and allegations of significant contracts awarded to Wade’s law partner, suggesting deep-rooted conflicts of interest in the prosecution of Trump.

While Willis accuses Wade’s estranged wife of obstructing the election interference case against Trump, she has not directly addressed the allegations of an affair or financial improprieties. In response to the claims, Willis cited racism, portraying the accusations as racially motivated.

The controversy extends beyond the alleged affair, as reports reveal Willis colluded with Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 Committee, seeking tips to aid in prosecuting Trump. Willis’s actions, coupled with her public statements expressing a desire for prison sentences for Trump and co-defendants, raise questions about the political nature of the prosecution.

Now Another State Launches Bill to Ban Trump From Ballot

Democrats across America apparently have such a fear of President Donald Trump’s presence on the 2024 presidential ballot they are trying in multiple ways to simply have him removed. . .

But now one lawmaker in Hawaii apparently believes his arguments, essentially the same as those used in multiple other states, are somehow better.

There, state Sen. Karl Rhoads, a Democrat who often lashes out angrily at Trump, is pushing for a bill that would ban Trump from the state’s ballot.

His plan aims to “specify that election ballots issued … shall exclude any candidate who is disqualified under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. . .

‘I Feel So Much Better’: Lindsey Graham Reportedly Hugged Fani Willis After Georgia Trump Testimony

A new book claims that Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina embraced Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is prosecuting former President Donald Trump, after he provided testimony in the case, Politico reported on Wednesday.

Willis obtained an indictment against Trump and several other defendants on Aug. 19, on 41 different charges related to an alleged criminal racket to overturn the state’s 2020 presidential election results as well as the filing of false documents. Graham, who was briefly involved in Trump’s efforts before acknowledging Joe Biden’s victory in the election, testified before the grand jury in the case on Nov. 22, 2022, where he allegedly “turned on a dime and threw Trump under the bus” and attempted to hug Willis after his testimony, according to Politico.

“That was so cathartic…I feel so much better,” said Graham to Willis after his testimony to the grand jury during an encounter in the courthouse where he testified, Politico reported. Graham thanked Willis for the “opportunity to tell his story” and, then, attempted to hug Willis.

“‘She was like “whatever, dude,”’ according to one witness of the strange encounter,” recounted Politico. The extracts were quoted from a chapter in a book by Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidmanin, titled “Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election,” which is scheduled to be published on Tuesday.
