Trump’s New Social Media Platform Set to Launch on Presidents’ Day

Former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social is expected to launch on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 21, according to the latest Apple App Store listing.

Truth Social, which the 45th president announced in October, is the latest conservative alternative to large social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which the former president has repeatedly slammed for censorship.

The new app is being launched by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and can be preordered before its expected release date.

According to the app store listing, users of the platform can share their “unique opinion by posting a TRUTH, Re-TRUTH, photo, news story or video link to communicate with your friends, customers, and the world.”

“Stay informed about breaking news while staying directly connected with the people who influence you – don’t be shocked if they take your TRUTH viral!” the listing reads. (Read more from “Trump’s New Social Media Platform Set to Launch on Presidents’ Day” HERE)

Democrats Quietly Explore Barring Trump From Office Over Jan. 6

In the year since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a handful of Democrats, constitutional scholars and pro-democracy advocates have been quietly exploring how a post-Civil War amendment to the Constitution might be used to disqualify former President Trump from holding office again.

Calls for Congress to take steps to strip Trump of his eligibility, which reached a crescendo in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot, have since decreased. But those who remain engaged on the issue say discussions about applying Section 3 of the 14th Amendment have been ongoing.

“If anything, the idea has waxed and waned,” said Laurence Tribe, a constitutional expert at Harvard Law School. “I hear it being raised with considerable frequency these days both by media commentators and by members of Congress and their staffs, some of whom have sought my advice on how to implement Section 3.”

An analysis by The Hill found that around a dozen Democratic lawmakers have spoken either publicly or privately over the last year about how Section 3 of the 14th Amendment might apply to those who engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6.

Among those whose offices have spoken recently with Tribe are Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who sits on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee; Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee; and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). Trump Approval Higher Than Day He Left, 85% In GOP: Poll

Former President Donald Trump’s approval rating has increased since he left office a year ago, and nearly 9 in 10 Republicans now have a favorable view of him.

In dual surveys on Thursday showing Trump’s rise and successor President Joe Biden’s fall, 52% of voters told Rasmussen Reports that they have a favorable impression of the former president. Some 47% don’t.

Among Republicans, 85% have a favorable view, with 63% declaring a “very favorable” opinion. Even 23% of Democrats and 51% of independents agree.

When he left office on Jan. 20, 2021, Trump’s Rasmussen approval rating was 51%. And his GOP approval was 84%, so he has actually increased support.

The survey, like others before it, shows that many Republicans are sticking with Trump despite efforts by legacy media and Democrats to ridicule the 45th president and blame him for the Jan. 6 Capitol riots and dividing the nation. Biden Unleashes on Trump, but Ignores Real Election 2020 Challenges

Joe Biden on Thursday, the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, unleashed a vitriolic attack on “former president” Donald Trump, but ignored the evidence that there were, in fact, issues coming out of the 2020 presidential election that should cause concern for Americans.

Those issues are that a review of the impact of the decision by leftist legacy and social media companies to suppress accurate reporting about Hunter Biden and his foreign dealings, some apparently involving Joe Biden, revealed that had those reports been carried more widely, enough people would have withheld their vote for Joe Biden to keep Trump in the White House. . .

Biden, according to the Washington Examiner, charged, “For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election, he tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob breached the Capitol. But they failed. They failed.”

He claimed that, “A former president of the United States has created and spread a web of lies about the 2020 election. He’s done so because he values power over principle … he can’t accept that he lost.”

And he incorrectly claimed, “Right now, in state after state, new laws are being written, not to protect the vote but to deny it. Not only to suppress the vote but to subvert it … the former president and his supporters have decided the only way for them to win is to suppress your vote and to subvert our elections. It’s wrong, it’s undemocratic, and frankly, it’s un-American.” (Read more from “Biden Unleashes on Trump, but Ignores Real Election 2020 Challenges” HERE)

White House: During Jan. 6 Anniversary Remarks, Biden Will Discuss ‘The Role His Predecessor Had’ (VIDEO)

While marking the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot this Thursday, President Joe Biden will attribute blame for the chaotic and violent episode to then-President Donald Trump, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Psaki was asked whether the president will discuss Trump’s “role in the riot.”

“Yes,” the press secretary responded.

Psaki said that she expects the president to discuss “the singular responsibility President Trump” bears for the “chaos” as well as the “carnage.” She said that Biden “will forcibly push back on the lies spread by” Trump.

She said that Biden will talk about “the importance in history of the peaceful transfer of power, of what we need to do to protect our own democracy and be forward looking. But he will also reflect on the role his predecessor had.”

With More COVID Deaths in 2021 Than ‘20, When Does Trump Get His Apology?

The fullness of time and now the Omicron wave have made it obvious how preposterous the chief lines of criticism against Donald Trump were during the pandemic.

It has been said, over and over, that Trump almost single-handedly killed Americans. MSNBC host Chris Hayes a couple of months ago called for a truth-and-reconciliation-commission-type inquiry into how the former president “willfully got hundreds of thousands of people killed.” Willfully!

During one of the 2020 presidential debates, Joe Biden said of Trump, “Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America.”

Why, then, does Biden get to stay in office? Tragically, more people died of the coronavirus in 2021 than in 2020. Indeed, if you simply look at the progression of cases and deaths in the United States over time, you’d have no idea that a new president took office in January 2021.

That line from Biden in the debate, by the way, wasn’t a one-off; it was one of his main themes. “If this president is reelected, we know what will happen,” Biden said of Trump at the Democratic convention. “Cases and deaths will remain far too high.” (Read more from “With More COVID Deaths in 2021 Than ‘20, When Does Trump Get His Apology?” HERE)

Pelosi, Trump Reveal Plans for Competing Jan. 6 Observances

As members of Congress engage in a prayer vigil to mark the one-year anniversary of the riot on Capitol Hill, former President Donald Trump will mark the occasion at his Mar-a-Largo resort in Florida — battling the press.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, announced on Thursday a schedule of events for Jan. 6. Trump similarly announced the specifics for a press conference set for the same day.

“These events are intended as an observance of reflection, remembrance, and recommitment, in a spirit of unity, patriotism, and prayerfulness,” Pelosi said. “The patriotism and courage of our members as we prepare for this difficult day is an inspiration for which I sincerely thank you.”

In a letter to Democratic colleagues, which was shared with the media Thursday, Pelosi outlined the schedule, which includes four events. Congress will not be back in session until Jan. 10, but Pelosi invited her Democrat colleagues to the events. She said Congress will also live-stream its commemorations.

The first thing on her list is a pro forma session in the House at noon with a moment of silence on the House floor. At 1 p.m., Carla Hayden, the librarian of Congress, will host a conversation between historians Jon Meacham and Doris Kearns Goodwin about the events of Jan. 6. Joe Rogan Names One Person He Thinks Could Beat Donald Trump in 2024

Joe Rogan said former First Lady Michelle Obama could beat former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election if she decides to run.

Rogan spoke with comedian Tim Dillon on his “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast Dec. 24. The pair discussed a variety of topics, including COVID, vaccines and the 2024 election.

Rogan segued into the election by mentioning how the press is “trying to ice out” Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Michelle Obama and they’re gonna bring Harris,” said Rogan. “Michelle Obama and Harris. Harris comes back as the vice president, Michelle Obama’s the president. We get a double dose of diversity.”

Trump Endorses Alaska Gov. Dunleavy – If He Doesn’t Support Murkowski

Former President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday he is endorsing GOP Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s reelection bid, as long as Dunleavy refrains from backing Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in her race.

Murkowski was one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump earlier this year on a single article of inciting insurrection in connection with the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol. She is the only one of those seven to come up for reelection next year.

Trump did not mention Murkowski’s impeachment vote in an emailed statement from his Save America PAC, which initially stated that Dunleavy “has my Complete and Total Endorsement” before adding that support was “subject to his non-endorsement of Senator Lisa Murkowski who has been very bad for Alaska, including losing ANWAR, perhaps the most important drilling site in the world, and much else.”

“In other words,” Trump emphasized, “if Mike endorses her, which is his prerogative, my endorsement of him is null and void, and of no further force or effect!”

The 45th president endorsed Murkowski’s primary rival Kelly Tshibaka in June and he has vowed to travel to Alaska to personally campaign against the incumbent. (Read more from “Trump Endorses Alaska Gov. Dunleavy – If He Doesn’t Support Murkowski” HERE)

Trump Asks Supreme Court to Keep White House Records Shielded From Jan. 6 Committee

Former President Donald Trump petitioned the Supreme Court on Thursday to keep White House records concealed from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Select Committee on Jan. 6.

For months, Pelosi’s partisan probe has sought about 700 pages of documents housed by the National Archives to investigate the administration and connect the Trump White House with the riot at the Capitol in January. President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied Trump’s request to keep White House records private from House investigators while lower courts have rejected the former president’s claims of executive privilege.

“The limited interest the Committee may have in immediately obtaining the requested records pales in comparison to President Trump’s interest in securing judicial review before he suffers irreparable harm,” wrote Trump’s legal team, adding a request that the Supreme Court put a hold on lower rulings, which would otherwise compel their release. “The records sought are in the custody and control of the [National Archives and Records Administration] and therefore are being preserved as a matter of law. The Committee has identified no reasonable justification for requiring the documents immediately.” (Read more from “Trump Asks Supreme Court to Keep White House Records Shielded From Jan. 6 Committee” HERE)
