More Evidence Emerges That the Media Is on Team Biden

Just over three weeks before Election Day 2016, Chris Cillizza, now with CNN, infamously tweeted, “Let me say for the billionth time: Reporters don’t root for a side. Period.”

No doubt he really believed it, as do many journalists who truly feel they are treating their stories’ subjects fairly. But as a group, their overall body of work shows quite clearly that they have “put on the jersey,” meaning that members of mainstream media are squarely on President Joe Biden’s team and have been since before Election Day 2020.

In the latest iteration of the media’s anti-Trump bias, The Washington Post was forced to issue a massive and embarrassing correction on its reporting of a phone call between former President Donald Trump and a Georgia official regarding disputed election results.

The quotes attributed to Trump by a single, anonymous source were things he actually did not say, as proven by a recording of the call released two months after the original, erroneous reporting.

Unexplained in this fiasco is how multiple news outlets were able to independently and wrongly confirm the initial, factually inaccurate story in the first place.

Worse, the fake quotes included in the first version of the Georgia phone call story were seized upon by Democrats and deployed during Trump’s second impeachment trial. Here was bad reporting being weaponized for political purposes.

This should be a jarring wake-up call for journalists. In all likelihood, it probably will not be.

As communications director for the Trump 2020 campaign for two years, I saw the media’s bias in action daily. Perhaps there was no better example than our elongated struggle to get Beltway reporters to cover the story surrounding Hunter Biden’s business dealings, which we viewed as a scandal that involved Joe Biden every bit as much as his son.

The media dug in and enforced an almost total news blackout of the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop, which contained emails that we strongly believed connected Joe Biden himself as having known about, approved of, and possibly benefitted from Hunter Biden’s foreign schemes. Social media giants blocked users from sharing it and Twitter even locked the account of the New York Post for having broken the story in the first place.

Most outlets only reported on the laptop in the context of trying to discredit it as an implication of Joe Biden. And almost every publication trumpeted a letter from “former senior intelligence officials,” who wrote that the information contained on the laptop seemed like “Russian disinformation,” even though they admitted they had no actual knowledge of that being the case.

The emergence of Tony Bobulinski, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, did little to sway reporters, who were alarmingly unconcerned about his adamant assertion that Joe Biden knew all about the overseas transactions and was actually cut in on some of the action.

And when James Rosen of Sinclair Broadcasting broke the story that in 2019 the FBI opened a money laundering investigation into Hunter Biden and his associates, which was still considered “open and ongoing,” no one else in the Beltway media showed the slightest interest.

Over the course of the last two weeks of the 2020 campaign, we held repeated conference calls with the media, often featuring U.S. senators and members of the House of Representatives, calling on reporters to lift the blackout and cover the story in the manner it deserved.

As Election Day neared, we implored journalists to tap their sources at the Department of Justice to confirm the FBI investigation into the activities of Hunter Biden and his associates, as Rosen had done for Sinclair Broadcasting.

There were no takers, except for a few who went through the front door of the Department of Justice press office to receive a standard refusal to comment, rather than enlisting the legion of anonymous sources they frequently used to write stories about Trump.

It was not until Dec. 9, 2020—more than a month after the election—that the media felt safe to report on the FBI investigation into Hunter Biden. And that was only because he issued a statement himself confirming its existence.

The media blackout worked. Trump pollster John McLaughlin found that 36% of Joe Biden voters were unaware of the entire saga, and that 4.6% of total Biden voters would have changed their minds if they had known about it—clearly enough to swing the election in key states.

With Election Day behind them, major news outlets have continued their practice of slanted reporting, both to continue heaping scorn on Trump and to promote Biden.

Another way to gauge which way the media leans is to examine accounts of similar episodes occurring under both Trump’s and Biden’s administrations. The disparate treatment of comparable events is striking.

In March 2020, The Washington Post gloomily reported on Trump’s approval of a coronavirus relief package under the headline, “Trump signs $2 trillion coronavirus bill into law as companies and households brace for more economic pain.”

Nearly a year later, the Post openly celebrated Biden’s approval of a $1.9 trillion package by tweeting the headline, “Biden stimulus showers money on Americans, sharply cutting poverty in defining move of presidency.”

In an apoplectic headline about the Trump administration’s response to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, The New York Times fumed, “In Extraordinary Statement, Trump Stands With Saudis Despite Khashoggi Killing.”

But when Biden failed to take any strong action against the Saudis after he became president, The New York Times gave it a soft landing with the friendly and empathetic headline, “Biden Won’t Penalize Saudi Crown Prince Over Khashoggi’s Killing, Fearing Relations Breach.”

The media is forever creative, however, as sometimes a clear Democratic scandal can also be turned against Republicans. Take, for example, the handling of two scandals battering New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo—the forcing of COVID-19 patients into nursing homes while covering up the number of deaths, and the growing list of women accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.

On the story involving Cuomo’s alleged conduct with women, the venerable Associated Press was still able to work in criticism of Republicans and praise for Biden at the same time, offering this opinion in what masqueraded as a straight news piece:

Republicans have seized on the scandal to try to distract from Biden’s success tackling the coronavirus pandemic and challenge his party’s well-established advantage with female voters.

To the credit of some in the White House press corps, a substantial amount has been written about Biden’s refusal to hold a press conference, likely because reporters have personal interest in such an event. So Biden, who was excessively protected from the media by staff during the campaign and has been known to wander wildly off-script, has yet to face wide-ranging and rapid-fire questioning.

But that did not stop Politico from gushing that Biden “has surprised some of his former colleagues and allies with a largely gaffe-free White House debut,” despite purposefully limited opportunities to make such mistakes.

The mainstream press wants very much for the public to believe that they have not chosen sides. But their 2020 campaign coverage and their reporting on the first weeks of the new president reveal that too many of them are indeed wearing the Biden jersey. Donald Trump Endorses COVID Vaccine

President Donald Trump encouraged his followers who are hesitant getting the coronavirus vaccine to go ahead and get the vaccine because it is safe and effective.

“I would recommend it,” Trump said during an interview on Fox News. “And I would recommend it to a lot of people that don’t want to get it and a lot of those people voted for me, frankly. But again, we have our freedoms and we have to live by that and I agree with that also. But it is a great vaccine. It is a safe vaccine and it is something that works.”

Trump made the remarks after Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Sunday that it would be huge if Trump came out and encouraged people to take the vaccine. (Read more from “Donald Trump Endorses COVID Vaccine” HERE)

Trump Impeachment Whistleblower: Sue Conservative Media To ‘Deradicalize’ It

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman (Ret.), a key figure in the first impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, published an op-ed Monday at the Lawfare blog in which he proposed suing conservative media outlets to make them less “radicalized.” . . .

Now, lamenting that he had not responded by suing President Trump over tweets about him, and noting that the First Amendment “gravely” limits what government can do to stop “lies” by the media, Vindman argues that “right-wing media” (alone) should be held accountable through a lawsuit strategy:

Recent events have made the need for accountability more pressing than ever. Should anyone be surprised that viewers of right-wing media are radicalized when media personalities themselves promote radical ideas based on lies?

Civil consequences, rather than governmental restrictions on First Amendment rights, could be a meaningful way to take what are fundamentally money-making ventures and demand truth from them, instill rigor in their reporting, and uphold accountability. Like a tabloid being sued and paying severe penalties, media companies and right-wing media personalities will claim that what’s at stake is freedom of speech. But defamation is not covered by the First Amendment, so this is, by definition, not true. And the generous standards in defamation law for purposes of protecting the press offer a true safe haven for good-faith actors even when they err. Putting companies in fear of the real costs in civil damages for slander, libel, and false claims that can cumulatively incite violence and that can individually harm actual human beings should have a restraining effect on their behavior.

Mainstream Media Misquoted Trump in Notorious Election Fraud Phone Call with Georgia Investigator

The Wall Street Journal first published audio last week of the roughly six-minute call on Dec. 23 between Trump and Frances Watson, the chief investigator of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, in which Trump urged her to look for fraud in mail-in ballots in Fulton County, where much of Atlanta is located.

Indeed, Trump can be heard telling Watson, who was in the middle of conducting an audit of voting results in Cobb County, that he won the 2020 election and that she would be “praised” when the “right answer comes out.” He also insisted “something bad happened.”

In response to Trump, the investigator said: “I can assure you that our team and the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation], that we are only interested in the truth and finding the information that is based on the facts.”

However, the audio shows that early reports in January about that call, based on anonymous sourcing, misquoted Trump. In those reports, Trump was quoted as urging Watson to “find the fraud,” and if she did so, the investigator would be a “national hero.”

Outlets such as CNN published these quotes, corroborating what was first reported by the Washington Post. While CNN’s version, reliant on a single anonymous source, remains unchanged, the Washington Post stuck a long correction note to the top of its report[.] (Read more from “Mainstream Media Misquoted Trump in Notorious Election Fraud Phone Call with Georgia Investigator” HERE)

State Passes Resolution Naming Trump ‘One of the Greatest’ Presidents

The Alabama Republican Party passed a unanimous resolution declaring former President Donald Trump “one of the greatest and most effective” presidents in US history, presenting him with a framed copy on Saturday, according to a report.

The memento was gifted to Trump during a reception at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, on Saturday evening.

“The resolution, basically, it just talks about the greatness of Donald J. Trump, how he made America great again and I hope other states will follow suit,” Perry Hooper Jr., a former state representative and a member of the Alabama GOP’s executive committee, told Fox News prior to the ceremony. . .

The resolution declares Trump “one of the greatest and most effective presidents in the 245-year history of this Republic” and details some of his accomplishments in the Oval Office — and blasts his successor, President Biden. Dr. Fauci Wants Donald Trump’s Help with COVID

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, now wants former President Donald Trump’s help after he has repeatedly taken shots at the former president in the months since the election.

Fauci made the remarks during an interview on Sunday with Fox News host Chris Wallace after Wallace played clips of four former presidents encouraging people to get vaccinated. . .

“Doctor, how much of a difference will it make if President Trump, who was largely responsible for the success of Operation Warp Speed, how much of a difference will it make if President Trump leads a campaign for the people who are most devoted to him to actually go out and get the vaccine?” Wallace asked.

Fauci responded by saying that if Trump led a campaign for his followers to get vaccinated that it “would make all the difference in the world.”

“He’s a very widely popular person among Republicans,” Fauci said. “If he came out and said, go and get vaccinated, it’s really important for your health, the health of your family and the health of the country, it seems absolutely inevitable that the vast majority of people who are his close followers would listen to him. He’s such a strongly popular person. I cannot imagine that if he comes out that they would not get vaccinated. It would be very helpful to the effort for that to happen.” (Read more from “Dr. Fauci Wants Donald Trump’s Help with COVID” HERE)

Trump Rails Against Biden’s Border Crisis

Former President Donald Trump railed President Joe Biden’s Democratic-engineered crisis at the border in a statement Tuesday.

“When I was President, our Southern border was in great shape – stronger, safer, and more secure than ever before. We ended Catch-and-Release, shut down asylum fraud, and crippled the vicious smugglers, drug dealers, and human traffickers,” Trump said. “The wall, despite horrendous Democrat delays, would have easily been finished by now, and is working magnificently. Our country is being destroyed at the Southern border, a terrible thing to see!”

Donald Trump Vows to Campaign in Alaska Against Lisa Murkowski; Where Murkowski Is in Polls

By Breitbart. Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he would campaign against Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in 2022 when she is due for reelection.

“I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski,” Trump said in a statement Politico first reported.

“She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator,” Trump continued.

Trump also pledged to campaign against Murkowski in a series of tweets in June 2020.

Murkowski was one of seven GOP senators who voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial in January and is the only one going up against voters next year. (Read more from “Donald Trump Vows to Campaign in Alaska Against Lisa Murkowski” HERE)

Where Lisa Murkowski Is in Polls as Trump Vows to Campaign Against ‘Disloyal’ GOP Senator

By Newsweek. . .On Saturday, Trump’s team released a recent poll that they commissioned on Murkowski to support their efforts to oust her. Conducted between January 30 and February 1, the McLaughlin and Associates poll found the ex-president’s Alaska favorability rating at 52 percent—nine points higher than Murkowski’s 43 percent.

Murkowski is the 86th most popular Republican in Congress, with 13 percent sharing a positive opinion, 23 percent sharing a negative opinion and 19 percent sharing a neutral opinion of the senator, according to a December 2020 YouGov poll. She is most popular among Millennials and Generation X, and is more popular among men than women.

A publicly funded poll of 1,081 Alaska voters, conducted by Public Policy Polling in June, showed Murkowski with an approval rating of just 29 percent and a disapproval rating of 55 percent. While Trump’s approval rating in the state sat at 46 percent and disapproval rating 49 percent. . .

However in late 2019, Murkowski was voted among the five least popular senators, along with Collins of Maine, who also voted for Trump’s conviction and is considered one of his opponents in the party, according to Morning Consult. Trump SLAMS ‘Spiraling Tsunami’ at Mexico Border; Here’s How the White House Responded (VIDEO)

By WND. Amid a surge of migrant families and unaccompanied children, former President Trump on Friday issued a statement scolding President Biden for a “spiraling tsunami” at the border.

“Our border is now totally out of control thanks to the disastrous leadership of Joe Biden,” Trump said. “Our great Border Patrol and ICE agents have been disrespected, demeaned, and mocked by the Biden Administration. A mass incursion into the country by people who should not be here is happening on an hourly basis, getting worse by the minute.” . . .

“The spiraling tsunami at the border is overwhelming local communities, depleting budgets, crowding hospitals, and taking jobs from legal American workers,” he said.

Trump said that when he left office, his administration “had achieved the most secure border in our country’s history.”

“Under Biden, it will soon be worse, more dangerous, and more out of control than ever before. He has violated his oath of office to uphold our Constitution and enforce our laws,” he said. (Read more from “Trump SLAMS ‘Spiraling Tsunami’ at Mexico Border” HERE)

By Daily Caller. Former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s immigration policies in a lengthy statement published Friday afternoon. . .

White House press secretary Jen Psaki dismissed Trump’s criticism out of hand at Friday’s briefing.
