Dumped: Sidney Powell Releases Her ‘Kraken’ Suit

Sidney Powell, the high-profile attorney who vowed to “release the Kraken” in a lawsuit alleging widespread fraud in Georgia resulting in a presidential victory for Joe Biden, has voluntarily dropped her legal action less than 24 hours before Biden’s inauguration.

In a motion filed at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Powell and other attorneys agreed with defendants including Gov. Brian Kemp and Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger to have the case dismissed.

“This civil action brings to light a massive election fraud,” her original lawsuit had indicated.

“I feel very optimistic the truth will get out,” Powell had said in November concerning her actions trying to prove fraud helped steal the election away from President Trump. “Of course, everybody on the face of the earth now is trying to suppress it, including people in our own government.

Trump Pardons Ex-Strategist Steve Bannon

President Donald Trump pardoned former chief strategist Steve Bannon in the final hours of his White House term as part of a flurry of clemency action that benefited more than 140 people, including rap performers, ex-members of Congress and other allies of him and his family.

The last-minute clemency, announced after midnight on Wednesday, follows separate waves of pardons over the past month for Trump associates convicted in the FBI’s Russia investigation as well as for the father of his son-in-law.

Trump Is Considering Forming a New Political Party

President Trump has talked in recent days with associates about forming a new political party, according to people familiar with the matter, an effort to exert continued influence after he leaves the White House.

Mr. Trump discussed the matter with several aides and other people close to him last week, the people said. The president said he would want to call the new party the “Patriot Party,” the people said. . .

It’s unclear how serious Mr. Trump is about starting a new party, which would require a significant investment of time and resources. The president has a large base of supporters, some of whom were not deeply involved in Republican politics prior to Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign. Donald Trump’s Facebook Gets Almost 200,000 Likes Despite Being Blocked

Donald Trump’s Facebook page attracted almost 200,000 likes over the past two weeks despite being “indefinitely” blocked from posting.

The president—who will exit the White House on Wednesday following the inauguration of Joe Biden—was effectively exiled from mainstream social media platforms this month after a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6.

Unlike Twitter, which removed Trump’s account from view amid a suspension, Facebook kept his profiles visible but ruled they would no longer be able to post status updates. Both platforms said allowing Trump to post risked inciting further violence.

While the president’s frequent outbursts on social media have been silenced, the moves have not stopped his Facebook profile from gaining new likes in the days since, according to statistics compiled by U.S. analytics company Social Blade. President Donald Trump issued a farewell address to Americans on Tuesday, where he celebrated the successes of his administration and expressed optimism for the nation’s future. . .

The president began by thanking his family, along with Vice President Mike Pence and the entire Pence family, as well as law enforcement and the U.S. military before extending his gratitude to the American people for what he referred to as the “privilege” of serving as commander in chief.

Reflecting back on when he first took office, the president said:

“Four years ago I came to Washington as the only true outsider ever to win the presidency. I had not spent my career as a politician, but as a builder looking at open skylines and imagining infinite possibilities. I ran for president because I knew there were towering new summits for America, just waiting to be scaled. I knew the potential for our nation was boundless as long as we put America first.

America had given me so much, and I wanted to give something back. Together with millions of hardworking patriots across this land, we built the greatest political movement in the history of our country. We also built the greatest economy in the history of the world.”

Democrats Pledge to Fight Trump Rule Ensuring Banks Won’t Refuse Service to Conservatives

In its final days, the Trump administration is seeking to disrupt the way progressive activists increasingly impose their will on big business: through banks controlling the loan lifelines to the economy.

A regulation just finalized (update) aims to prevent lenders from blackballing businesses in industries opposed by the left by requiring banks to demonstrate that their loan decisions are “based on quantitative, impartial risk-based standards,” rather than political or reputational concerns.

he proposed Fair Access to Financial Services Rule (FAFSR) is a response to successful pressure campaigns waged by environmental groups and congressional Democrats, which culminated in every major American bank refusing to finance drilling projects in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), despite such drilling being authorized by President Trump in 2017.

Bryan Hubbard, a spokesman for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, told RealClearInvestigations that the rule codifies longstanding OCC guidance on banks’s obligation to provide equitable access to their services, and will ensure that banks are not “terminating entire categories of customers.”

The rule has been published in the Federal Register, but it may be short-lived with the end of Trump’s term. Many Democrats oppose the measure and they will have 60 legislative days to disapprove the rule by a simple majority vote, as provided under the Congressional Review Act. After a horde of Trump supporters sacked the U.S. Capitol building over Congress certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s win in the Electoral College this month, Democrats and legacy media raised hysteria that the recent incursion was the first in what was supposed to become a series of domestic attacks targeting state capitols ahead of the inauguration. . .

Upwards of 25,000 federal troops descended on Washington to prepare for the imminent insurrection, occupying the city with more boots on the ground in the Beltway than in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. At least 17 other states called up the National Guard. Police ramped up security in all 50 state capitols, bracing for an attack, while Democrats exploiting the Jan. 6 crisis at the Capitol continued to feed fears of a right-wing revolution after spending eight months vilifying law enforcement in the wake of their own in the name of social justice. . .

As the New York Times published on Sunday, however, FBI warnings of a violent uprising, amplified by Democrats with hysterical theatrics featuring more troops occupying Washington than parts of the Middle East, have yet to substantiate.

“After Capitols Become Fortresses, Far-Right Protesters Are Mostly a No-Show,” the Times headlined its reporting.

The nation’s militarized streets on Sunday were a remarkable spectacle as police and National Guard officers faced off with promised right-wing protests that, at least on Sunday, were reduced to a whimper. Protesters in some states could be counted on one hand.

“I would love to see his phone records, to see whether he was talking to Putin the day that the insurgents invaded our capitol,” Clinton, who lost the presidential race against Trump in 2016, said. “But we all know that not just him, his enablers, his accomplices, his cult members, have the same disregard for democracy.”

Trump’s Former Personal Physician, Who Drew Attention During Campaign, Dies

President Trump’s former personal doctor, Harold Bornstein, who once declared Trump “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency,” has died at 73.

Bornstein died Jan. 8, and a paid death notice was included in the New York Times on Thursday. Bornstein served as the president’s physician from 1980 until after Trump reached the White House in 2016.

Bornstein, who sported a distinctive look featuring shoulder-length hair, briefly entered the limelight after Trump began questioning his former political opponent Hillary Clinton’s stamina and fitness for office. As those questions were returned to him, Trump released a glowing 2015 medical report signed by Bornstein, leading the media to pay attention to the longtime doctor. Trump Will Not Invite the Bidens to the White House Before Inauguration

President Donald Trump will not invite President-elect Joe Biden to the White House ahead of the inauguration Wednesday, according to reports.

Typically, the sitting president invites his successor to the White House ahead of the inauguration. The sitting first lady welcomes the incoming first lady for tea and a tour of the building.

Both President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama welcomed the Trumps to the White House ahead of the inauguration ceremony after President Donald Trump beat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016.
