Castor said the defense team will adhere to the strategy outlined in the brief they submitted to the Senate on Feb. 2. . .

Castor noticed that some Democrats nationwide cheered when the rioters were burning down the cities and attacked the federal law enforcement officers last summer in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd. . .

GOP Senator Compares Trump Impeachment Proceedings to Soviet ‘Show Trial’

By The Hill. Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) knocked Democrats on Sunday over the speed at which the House voted to impeach former President Trump last month, comparing it to a “show trial,” the likes of which he said would have been found in the Soviet Union.

Speaking with host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Cassidy said he believed House Democrats had done an “incredibly poor job” at building a case for impeachment ahead of their vote last month. Ten House Republicans joined Democrats in voting in favor of impeaching Trump over inciting an insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“The president wasn’t there. He wasn’t allowed counsel. They didn’t amass evidence. In five hours, they kind of judged, and boom, he’s impeached,” Cassidy said. “Now, I’m told that under the Watergate, under the Clinton impeachments, there were truckloads of information. Here, there was a video. There was no process. I mean, it’s almost like, you know, if it happened in the Soviet Union, you would’ve called it a show trial.”

Cassidy went on to claim that there was no “defensible process” behind the House’s impeachment vote. Despite the characterization and criticism of the proceedings, Cassidy claimed he would act as an impartial juror. Biden Admin Yanks Maternity Leave From Trump Appointees Days Before Some Give Birth

President Joe Biden’s administration denied multiple President Trump-era aides their previously established maternity leave, some days before birth, reports Politico.

Even though some Trump aides made arrangements for parental leave early in 2021 in advance of their children’s births, multiple federal employees were told shortly before or after their babies arrived that the benefits would no longer be extended to them after Biden and his team took office.

Some families pleaded with the new administration to honor the previous agreements, one couple writing that they were counting on the leave to deal with “unforeseen complications” during the birth of their child.

“[T]he remaining 9-10 weeks afforded to federal employees is critical to our family and livelihoods as we work to raise a strong, healthy boy under unique and unforeseen complications to our birth plan,” the married Department of Homeland Security officials wrote.

But their calls were disregarded by Biden’s transition team, which said the officials’ previously pledged benefits including payroll ended when former President Donald Trump departed the White House. Continuity between administrations is a long-established tradition in the interests of fairness and unity.

The President and his defense team are permitted to put on a defense in the US House—They were not permitted to put on a defense!

Impeachment is for a President who is the occupant of The White House—-President Donald J. Trump is no longer in office; he is a private citizen; private citizens cannot be Impeached by the Congress!

An Impeachment Trial in the US Senate and must be presided over by the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court—Chief Justice Roberts has declined to preside over the fake Impeachment Trial.

If a President is convicted in an Impeachment, he is removed from office and can’t run for re-election—-President Trump can’t be removed from office, since he is no longer in office!

Report: Parler Offered Trump Organization a 40% Ownership Stake for Exclusive Postings

Parler offered the Trump Organization a 40% ownership stake in the company if then-President Donald Trump posted comments exclusively to the conservative social network, Buzzfeed News reported Friday. Negotiations started last summer and were revived in November after Trump lost the presidential election.

In June 2020, members of Trump’s campaign met with senior management of Parler, Buzzfeed reported, but the White House legal counsel stopped the talks. When talks resumed, Parler proposed that Trump post to Parler four hours before posting to other social networks. Trump wasn’t part of the negotiations, Buzzfeed reported, and no deal was struck.

Parler has been effectively shut down since January, when Apple and Google banished the app because of its content moderation. It was later taken offline when Amazon stopped hosting the service. Ex-White House Interpreter: ‘Canceled and Humiliated’ for Supporting Trump

The White House sign-language interpreter who was outed as a supporter of former President Donald Trump said Sunday that she hasn’t been offered a return engagement since — and blasted critics who attacked her credibility and professionalism.

Heather Mewshaw, who began working as an independent contractor for the White House last year, said she hasn’t been contacted by the Biden administration in the wake of a Time magazine report that revealed she translated speeches for conservative social media groups.

“The goal of my activity — at the White House or with Hands of Liberty — is that it’s all about access,” Mewshaw told The Post.

“The thing is, I was canceled and humiliated publicly and it was unjust and unfair.”

Mewshaw, a 41-year-old married mother of four from Glen Burnie, Md., also said she’s been “harassed” and “intimidated” online for providing American Sign Language translation for the Hands of Liberty Facebook group and its defunct predecessor, Right Side ASL. Despite Trump Declassifying Russia Memos, Most Aren’t Released

More than two weeks after Donald Trump officially declassified the evidence, the vast majority of documents detailing FBI and Justice Department failures in the now-discredited Russia collusion investigation remain out of public view in a delay that has thwarted the former president’s goal of sweeping transparency. . .

Just the News was able to obtain about 15% of the thousands of pages of declassified documents, from a hodgepodge network of White House officials who worked on the declassification, law enforcement and intelligence officials who got their own versions of the declassified documents, and members of Congress who were given copies of some memos in the final days of the Trump presidency. . .

The remaining documents, according to sources who have seen them, provide more details showing just how far the FBI went to deceive the FISA judges in an effort to keep surveilling Page and that the FBI’s true target for surveillance was the larger Trump campaign.

For instance, an August 2016 tasking document for Halper, one of the informants, made clear the FBI’s real focus of the investigation was to determine whether “anyone in the Trump campaign is in a position to have received information either directly or indirectly from the Russian Federation regarding the anonymous release of information during the campaign that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton,” according to a source who took verbatim notes from one of the documents. Sen. Rand Paul (KY) spoke to Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” about former President Trump’s upcoming Senate impeachment trial. The senator said the latest impeachment effort against Trump has zero chance of ending in a conviction.

Wallace began the interview by admitting that it would be unlikely for 17 Republicans to join every Democrat in the Senate to achieve the two-thirds majority needed to convict the former president, especially since most Republicans, Liz Cheney aside, believe the trial is unconstitutional.

“If we’re going to criminalize speech, and somehow impeach everybody who says, ‘Oh, go fight to hear your voices heard,’ I mean really we ought to impeach Chuck Schumer then,” said Paul. “[Schumer] went to the Supreme Court, stood in front of the Supreme Court and said specifically, ‘Hey Gorsuch, Hey Kavanaugh, you’ve unleashed a whirlwind, and you’re going to pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you continue with these awful decisions.'” . . .

“So if people want to hold President Trump accountable for language there has to be a consistent standard, and to my mind it’s a partisan farce because they’re not doing anything to Chuck Schumer, not doing anything to Rep. Omar, not doing anything to Maxine Waters. It’s just not fair. It’s just partisan politics under a different name.”

POLL: Over Half of GOP Would Leave if Trump Founded Third Party

Most Republicans would quit the GOP and join a hypothetical third party started by former President Donald Trump, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

According to the survey, 64% of registered Republicans said they would join a new political party if Trump founded one. No less than 32% said they would be “very likely” to join a Trump party.

Just 36% of Republicans opposed leaving the GOP for a party founded by Trump.

But it’s not just Republicans who could be swayed to a third-party movement. The survey found 28% of self-identified independents and 15% of Democrats said they would be likely to join a Trump party.

Confirmed: Stolen Election Claims Depressed GOP Turnout, Handed Democrats Georgia Senate Seats

During a week in which Democrats formally finalized their takeover of the US Senate’s instruments of power, and flexed their legislative muscles by pushing through a party-line vote to pave the way for a massive spending bill, it seems like an opportune moment to reflect on how we got here. Republican voters largely held the line, despite a daunting Senate map, in November. After election night, it very much looked like Democrats would net just one single seat in the upper chamber, allowing Mitch McConnell to remain majority leader, and force the Biden administration into tough negotiations on a wide range of issues. All they had to do was not lose both Georgia runoffs, which seemed eminently achievable. After all, Republicans had received more votes than Democrats in both races in the first round, and the runoff format has traditionally heavily favored the GOP. But then January 5 happened, and the Democrats swept both contests.

As a result, Chuck Schumer is now majority leader, and Kamala Harris is the tie-breaking vote. In the immediate aftermath of that debacle, we cited early evidence that David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler lost because Democrats were united and motivated, while GOP turnout was underwhelming amid conspiracies and intra-party anger. Republican fears had come true. More support for this theory has continued to trickle in:

Over 752,000 Georgia voters who cast ballots in the presidential election didn’t show up again for the runoffs just two months later, according to a new analysis by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution of recently released voting records. More than half of the no-shows were white, and many lived in rural areas, constituencies that lean toward Republican candidates…Trump’s message that the election was stolen discouraged voters such as Craig Roland, a 61-year-old Rome resident. Roland said he didn’t believe his vote would count. “What good would it have done to vote? They have votes that got changed,” Roland said. “I don’t know if I’ll ever vote again.”…The AJC’s analysis found that the drop in turnout was most severe in northwest and South Georgia, areas where Trump held rallies, in Dalton and Valdosta, to bolster support for the state’s Republican senators.

Trump-Era Official Sues Joe ‘Unity’ Biden

Roger Severino, a Trump-era official, is suing President Joe Biden and the new administration for attempting to force him to resign from his position within an independent federal agency, a move that the official argues is unjust.

Despite being recently appointed to the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) by former President Donald Trump to a position that is supposed to last three years, Severino, former head of the Health and Human Services Civil Rights Office, was asked to resign on Wednesday or risk termination by the White House Presidential Personnel Office.

Severino refused to comply with the administration’s demands, citing the three-year ACUS governing statute, and is seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction from a court to prevent his firing.

“President Biden’s attempt to remove me contrary to law exposes his lofty promises of healing and uniting all Americans as nothing more than cynical manipulation,” Severino wrote. “Because I am not one to be bullied, not even by the President himself, I will not resign my duly commissioned post and look forward to seeing how President Biden tries to justify his vindictive actions in court.” (Read more from “Trump-Era Official Sues Joe ‘Unity’ Biden” HERE)
