President Trump Beats Out Dr. Fauci, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and the Pope for ‘Most Admired Man’ of 2020

In the same year that President Donald Trump was impeached, received massive criticism from the media for his handling of of the coronavirus pandemic, and lost a presidential election, Gallup’s annual poll of Americans’ most admired men, which was published Tuesday, found the outgoing commander in chief atop the list.

Not even ever-popular former President Barack Obama, President-elect Joe Biden, the media’s sainted Dr. Anthony Fauci, or the pope could beat him. . .

This year — which has actually been a tough one for the president — Trump sits alone at the top of the list, beating Obama by three points, 18% to 15%.

The third-place finisher was Trump’s 2020 election opponent, but Biden was not even close to getting the numbers Trump received. In fact, at 6%, he got only one-third the number of votes in the survey that the president did.

Dr. Fauci, the man who has been the face of America’s response to the coronavirus — right or wrong — and a beloved figure among members of the mainstream media, came in a very distant fourth, with just 3% of Americans naming him as their most admired man. House Overrides Trump Veto of $740 Billion Defense Bill

The House voted Monday to override President Donald Trump’s veto of an annual defense spending bill, placing the final steps of defying the Republican president in the hands of the GOP-led Senate.

The measure to override Trump’s veto of the defense bill passed 322 to 87 on Monday evening. The Senate will vote next on whether to override the veto.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said his chamber would vote on overriding the veto Tuesday.

The bill, known as the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, passed the House on Dec. 8. with the support of more than three-fourths of the chamber. A large majority of the GOP-controlled Senate also approved the bill, giving both chambers a higher share of yea votes than the two-thirds required to defeat a presidential veto.

The sweeping defense bill, that authorizes a topline of $740 billion in spending and outlines Pentagon policy, typically passes with strong bipartisan support and veto-proof majorities as it funds America’s national security portfolio. It has been signed into law every year for nearly six consecutive decades. (Read more from “House Overrides Trump Veto of $740 Billion Defense Bill” HERE)

CNN Reporters Admit Change in Coverage After Trump

Establishment media reporters confessed in a story for the Atlantic published this week that they will not cover Joe Biden’s administration in the same manner as President Trump’s, with CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta floating “hazard pay” for covering the Trump White House during the past four years.

In an Atlantic piece examining the direction the press will go in following the end of Trump’s first term, Acosta — who made a name for himself over the past four years by engaging in highly public spats with the commander-in-chief and asking what Trump once described as “nasty, snarky” questions — admitted that he will not approach a Biden administration with the same fervor.

“I don’t think the press should be trying to whip up the Biden presidency and turn it into must-see TV in a contrived way,” he said in what some consider an astonishing admission given Acosta’s propensity to turn Q&A’s with Trump into a live spectacle, as Breitbart News has documented over the years. One of the most memorable exchanges occurred early in 2017, with then-President-elect Trump calling CNN “terrible” and refusing to give Acosta a question by telling him, “You are fake news.” The exchange coincided with BuzzFeed and CNN reporting of an unverified dossier purportedly connecting Trump to Russia — a theory that has been thoroughly debunked:

CNN reporter Daniel Dale, widely known for “fact-checking” the president, also admitted that his day-to-day will likely change with the incoming administration. He has already determined that “it will not be a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week job to fact-check Biden.”

“Though he stressed that the same ‘intensity and rigor’ should be applied to the incoming president, the simple reality is that Biden doesn’t lie nearly as often as Trump does,” the Atlantic reported. (Read more from “CNN Reporters Admit Change in Coverage After Trump” HERE)

Congress’s Spending Binge Gifts American Children Longer Lockdowns and an Even Bigger National Debt

There is no way to sugarcoat it. The Washington establishment — and the big-spending congressional appropriators, lobbyists, and bureaucrats who comprise it — jammed through a massive “omnibus” spending package and combo COVID-19 relief bill with a price tag of more than $2.3 trillion.

President Trump was correct to initially balk at the absurd spending but did so despite the fact his team negotiated much of it while demanding additional direct payments to Americans. Unfortunately, notwithstanding our $27.5 trillion debt, the president capitulated, signed the bill, and left conservatives holding the bag with a vote on un-offset spending.

Once again, an end-of-year spending “showdown” just means another betrayal of the American people. This is a sad way to end a term.

The veil had been lifted for the American people, who were coming to see the unbelievable amount of spending that occurs every year as directly contrary to their well-being and that of the country. These two bills promote policies that have nothing to do with seeing our fellow citizens through the difficulty of forced school and business closings and limited livelihoods via the force of government, but instead, actively aid in the destruction of our republic and way of life. President Trump Signs Coronavirus Relief Bill With $600 Stimulus Checks

On Sunday, President Trump signed the $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief package passed by Congress that includes $600 stimulus checks for Americans. The president had threatened to veto the package if Congress did not increase the payments to $2,000.

In signing the relief package, the president made it clear that he was signing the bill to provide assistance to the American people. The president said he was sending a redlined version of the 5,600-page bill back to Congress asking them to remove wasteful and embarrassing pork spending contained in the legislation.

“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed,” the president said in a statement. “I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.” (Read more from “President Trump Signs Coronavirus Relief Bill With $600 Stimulus Checks” HERE)

“It did not happen. He did not win. We won by a landslide,” said Trump in a video posted on Facebook. . .

Trump Issues New Wave of Pardons, Commutations

By CBS News. President Trump announced 26 new pardons Wednesday, including for allies Paul Manafort and Roger Stone, as well as Jared Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner. Mr. Trump granted 15 pardons the day before.

Manafort, a former Trump campaign manager, was sentenced to 7-and-a-half years in federal prison for convictions related to former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. Manafort was released from prison in March to serve his sentence from home due to COVID-19.

Mr. Trump had already commuted the sentence of Stone, a longtime friend, in July. Stone was convicted of seven felony counts stemming from Mueller’s investigation, including lying to investigators and witness tampering.

Kushner was convicted of witness tampering, tax evasion and illegal campaign contributions back in 2005. Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, has worked in the White House since the beginning of Mr. Trump’s presidency, and has been one of the president’s most influential and long-serving aides. The case against Charles Kushner was prosecuted by former New Jersey Governor and Trump ally Chris Christie. (Read more from “Trump Issues New Wave of Pardons, Commutations” HERE)

Trump Vetoes Defense Bill and Threatens Government Shutdown

U.S. President Donald Trump vetoed a bipartisan defense policy bill on Wednesday and raised the prospect that the United States could face a government shutdown during a pandemic, stirring new turmoil in Washington as he headed to Florida for Christmas.

. . .Trump sought to refashion two complex pieces of legislation that passed Congress by wide, bipartisan margins after months of negotiation.

Trump followed through on a threat to veto the defense bill and demanded dramatic changes to a $2.3 trillion package that funds the federal government and provides nearly $900 billion in coronavirus aid.

If Trump blocks the spending package, large parts of the U.S. government will start to shut down next week for lack of funds at a time when officials are distributing two coronavirus vaccines and working to respond to a massive hacking attack. WATCH: Liberals Are Probably Fuming Over These Seven Words Trump Uttered in Rejecting COVID Bill; Trump Demands Congress Add $2000 Direct Payments To Bill

By Townhall. . .Trump was not happy with the amount in the relief checks. He wants a bill with $2,000 payments and has threatened a veto. Yes, I like the veto threat, but it’s probably a symbolic gesture. Trump could whip out the pen, but these current spending and relief bills passed with veto-proof majorities. Should this happen, it will be overridden. I don’t know. I’m not a big fan of harping on moral or symbolic victories. Yet, in his video address regarding these bills, Trump brought the 2020 election into focus, warning that the next administration will have to handle COVID relief, and that administration might be him.

The president did not say he would veto the bill but demanded that Congress amend it before sending it to his desk.

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2000, or $4000 for a couple,” he said.

The also president lamented that the bill also failed to provide substantial aid to restaurants and small businesses. (Read more from “Trump Demands Congress Add $2000 Direct Payments To COVID Bill” HERE)
