Biden Reveals Whether or Not He’s Showing up to the Next Debate

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will travel to Florida to participate in the next debate and hopes that President Trump will be able to join him despite the president testing positive for the novel coronavirus late last week.

Symone Sanders, a senior campaign adviser to Biden, said on Sunday that the former vice president is “looking forward” to the Oct. 15 town hall-style debate in Miami and that he is hoping Trump will be well enough to attend.

“We are looking forward to the debate on Oct. 15 in Miami,” Sanders said during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “It’s a town hall and, as you know, Vice President Biden loves a good town hall.”

Sanders added: “And we are hoping President Trump can participate. We’re hoping that he’s medically able to participate, and that is up to his doctors to clear him. But Joe Biden will be at that debate.”

The future of the next presidential debate was thrown in jeopardy after the president revealed in the early morning hours last Friday that he and First Lady Melania Trump had contracted the coronavirus. Since Trump’s announcement numerous members of his White House inner circle and his reelection campaign have come down with the contagion. New Poll Bucks Media Narrative, Shows Trump Closing the Gap After COVID Diagnosis

A new poll released on Saturday showed that President Trump has not lost favor or popularity with the American people after a raucous debate night on Tuesday and hospitalization for COVID-19 on Friday.

The poll came from John Zogby Strategies and shows that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden now leads the president by only two points, well within the margin of error. The new numbers show a reduction of five full points after their previous July sampling.

Our July 8th poll showed Biden leading Trump 49% to 42% and the previous poll released on August 29th had Biden leading by six points (48% to 42%).

The former VP is leading among Democrats 91%-8%, voters 18-29 years of age (60%-35%) and those 30-49 (50%-45%), as well as among women (56%-41%), Progressives (85%-15%), Liberals (85%-14%) and Moderates (58%-36%). He also leads among Hispanics is 61%-34% and Blacks (87%-11%).

The President, who was hospitalized before the poll was launched, leads among fellow Republicans (94%-6%), voters 50-64 (53%-45%) and those over 65 (50%-47%). As of now, Mr. Trump is capturing a slight majority of Catholic voters (51%-46%), Evangelicals (68%-32%), Conservatives (78%-18%), and Very Conservative voters (92%-8%). He also is ahead among Whites (56%-40%) and parents of children under 17 living at home (54%-40%).

MSNBC Host Believes Trump Is Faking COVID Diagnosis

MSNBC’s Joy Reid is pushing the idea that President Donald Trump’s Wuhan coronavirus is a hoax. The so-called “motivation” for the ruse would be to get out of the next presidential debate, which is scheduled for Oct. 15. It was a clear nod to the Presidential Debate Commission contemplating whether or not debate moderators should have the ability to cut off the microphones of disruptive candidates.

Reid posted her conspiracy theory on Twitter on Friday:

If someone on the right posted these kind of conspiracy theories if the roles were reversed and Joe and Jill Biden had the coronavirus, the left would trash them. They would say the right is being mean and cruel. Why is it that decorum goes out the window when it comes to President Trump? Trump Vows to Overturn ‘Ridiculous’ Gender-Neutral Language for Navy SEALs

President Donald Trump on Thursday vowed to get rid of new U.S. Navy gender-neutral language to be included in elite SEAL training guidelines, calling them “ridiculous.”

The president, who announced Friday that both he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, was responding to changes in the Navy SEAL ethos and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC) creed.

The changes were designed to ditch male-centric terms like “brotherhood” in response to U.S. law that now allows women to apply for and serve in elite and previously male-only military roles. . .

Navy officials have couched the decision to change the ethos on making SEAL training more inclusive.

“Naval Special Warfare continues to deliberately develop a culture of tactical and ethical excellence that reflects the nation we represent, and that draws upon the talents of the all-volunteer force who meet the standards of qualification as a SEAL or SWCC,” Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Stroup, a spokesman for Naval Special Warfare told American Military News. (Read more from “Trump Vows to Overturn ‘Ridiculous’ Gender-Neutral Language for Navy SEALs” HERE)

Majority of Americans Think Trump Will Win Election

The good news for President Trump: His job approval has hit its highest point since May, Gallup reported on Thursday. . .

“Regardless of whom they personally support, 56% of Americans expect Trump to prevail over Biden in the November election, while 40% think Biden will win,” wrote Megan Brenan in an article released by the polling firm. “Although majorities of partisans think their party’s candidate will win, Republicans are more likely to believe Trump will win (90%) than Democrats are to think Biden will (73%). Fifty-six percent of independents predict that Trump will win.”

The pollster doesn’t offer an explanation as to how Trump can be underwater on his approval rating but still be the majority pick to win the election. But Gallup said the finding might not be great news for Trump.

“Looking back, Gallup has asked Americans for their predictions in the late summer or fall of every presidential election year from 1996 through 2012, and an ABC NewsIWashington Post poll included a comparable question in 2016,” according to the article.

“In each of these polls, Americans accurately predicted the winner of the popular vote, though not the winner of the Electoral College,” Brenan wrote. “That is, in 2000 and 2016, the public predicted Al Gore and Hillary Clinton, respectively, would win the election. Although both of these Democratic candidates won the popular vote, George W. Bush and Trump, respectively, won the most electoral votes and ultimately became president.” (Read more from “Majority of Americans Think Trump Will Win Election” HERE)

Pelosi Raises Possibility of Becoming Acting President

Speaker Nancy Pelosi raised the possibility that she might become acting president if neither President Trump nor Democratic nominee Joe Biden wins enough electoral votes to declare victory in the election on or after Nov. 3.

Pelosi, a California Democrat, told reporters Thursday that she is preparing House Democrats for a potential role in determining the winner with a vote by each state delegation.

But if a majority still does not emerge for either Trump or Biden, Pelosi said, “then it goes into another range where the speaker becomes the [president]. It’s complicated after that.”

It is rare for the House to play a role in determining the outcome of a presidential election, and it hasn’t happened in 150 years. But Pelosi is girding party lawmakers to play a role if the election is so close that neither Trump nor Biden is the electoral winner. President Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19, Admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center as Precautionary Measure (VIDEO)

President Trump thanked Americans for their “tremendous support” and said he is “doing very well” in a pre-recorded video he tweeted out Friday as he was being flown by Marine One to Walter Reed Military Medical Center where he will be treated for mild symptoms after testing positive for the COVID-19.

The president’s message was upbeat, though his tone was more subdued than usual in the video, which is believed to have been shot just before he was transferred to Walter Reed “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the White House. . .

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany first announced Friday that the president, who she said “remains in good spirits,” has “mild symptoms” and had been “working throughout the day.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days,” she said. “President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady.” (Read more from “President Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19, Admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center as Precautionary Measure” HERE)

It Looks Like the Next Presidential Debate Moderator Hates Trump Even More Than the First; Trump Campaign Calls Out Second Debate Moderator

By Townhall. For those hoping the moderator at the second presidential debate will be less of a liberal hack than the first, we have some bad news for you. C-SPAN’s Steve Scully has been tapped to moderate the upcoming presidential debate and it’s very clear which candidate Scully wants to win.

Scully is clearly rooting for Joe Biden, a.k.a. his old boss, who Scully once interned for in the U.S. Senate. . .

Scully also retweeted this column by The New York Times’ David Brooks, in which the author argues that Donald Trump is basically the worst person in the entire world and should never be elected president of the United States.

Trump Campaign Calls Out Second Debate Moderator Who Interned for Biden, Worked for Ted Kennedy

By Fox News. resident Trump’s campaign is calling out C-SPAN anchor Steve Scully, who’s moderating the second presidential debate, for his ties to former Vice President Joe Biden.

Steve Scully, who serves as a host for C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” interned for Biden after coming to Washington, D.C. as a student, according to Marie Claire. He later worked as a staff assistant for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., a Democratic icon who was honored at the party’s 2012 convention.

Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller tweeted in response: “Don’t forget to change before the debate, fellas!” . . .

At the beginning of September, Scully did an interview in which he committed to being fair “across the board.” He said his training as a backup moderator in 2016 helped him prepare for his role this election. Scully’s debate will be a townhall format at the Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida.

“The town hall meeting is unique because it’s really more of a facilitator role, but to listen carefully, to follow up, to make sure that the president, that Joe Biden … follow the rules, that they don’t filibuster,” he said. “And my hope really is that we’re going to ask very direct questions, and we’re going to push for very direct answers, and to make sure it’s fair across the board.” (Read more from “Trump Campaign Calls Out Second Debate Moderator Who Interned for Biden, Worked for Ted Kennedy” HERE)

Nancy Pelosi: Joe Biden Should Skip the Next Debate (VIDEO)

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi weighed in on the presidential debates, following Tuesday’s chaotic contest between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace. Speaker Pelosi said that Biden should not partake in other debates, and that Tuesday’s debate should be “one and done.”

“I myself did not think that Joe Biden should dignify debate with the president who has no commitment to fact, evidence, data, demeans the office he holds,” Speaker Pelosi said on Thursday

She previously questioned the purpose of presidential debates between President Trump and former Vice President Biden, claiming that President Trump would not tell the truth.

The New York Times Is Wrong — Trump Paid Millions in Taxes in 2017

The New York Times’ claim that President Donald Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017 is wrong, based on a flawed understanding of how taxes are paid.

The figures below, drawn from the New York Times’s own analysis of Trump’s tax-return data for 2017, show that Trump paid $7,435,857 in taxes in 2017.

The Times says the tax return data show that Trump’s earnings were negative for the year, so he owned nothing in regular income taxes. But he was subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), a parallel tax system aimed at making sure wealthy people cannot use deductions to eliminate their tax liability altogether. According to the Times, “the A.M.T. formula disallowed $45 million in losses that Mr. Trump had carried over from prior years.”

As a result, Trump was left with an AMT bill of $7,435,857, according to the Times.

There was no way for Trump to avoid this tax liability. He had to pay it down using his assets. And he did. (Read more from “The New York Times Is Wrong — Trump Paid Millions in Taxes in 2017” HERE)
