President Trump said Wednesday that he’s considering bringing “a major lawsuit” against unidentified people regarding former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, accusing Mueller of treating him and his associates unfairly.
“We’ve been investigating on a personal basis, through Rudy [Giuliani] and others, lawyers, corruption in the 2016 election. We’ve been investigating corruption because I probably will, I was going to definitely, but I probably will be bringing a lot of litigation against a lot of people having to do with the corrupt investigation having to do with the 2016 election,” Trump said during a press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö.
“I’ve been looking at that long and hard for a long period of time, how it started, why it started, it should never happen to another president, ever, but I’ve been talking about it from the standpoint of bringing a major lawsuit, and I’ve been talking about it for a long time,” he added.

Trump has long accused Mueller of political bias and misconduct during his two-year probe into Russia’s election meddling and obstruction of justice.
The former special counsel found insufficient evidence to charge Trump with conspiracy to collude with Moscow but declined to make a prosecutorial judgement as to whether the president obstructed subsequent probes. Speaking during a meeting with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö in the Oval Office Wednesday afternoon, President Trump called for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to not only “resign in disgrace,” but argued he should be investigated for treason.
“He made up my conversation. He actually made it up. It should be criminal. It should be treasonous. He made it up, every word of it, and read to Congress as if I said it. And I’ll tell you what, he should be forced to resign from Congress. Adam Schiff, he’s a low life. He should be forced to resign,” Trump said. “He took that conversation, which was perfect, he said, ‘I can’t read this,’ so he made up a conversation and he reported it and said it to Congress and the American people.”
“It was horrible what he said,” he continued. “It was all fabricated. He should resign from office in disgrace and frankly they should look at him for treason because he is making up the words of the President of the United States. Not only words, but the meaning.”

By Newsweek. President Donald Trump’s recent tweet quoting a longtime evangelical pastor who warned of a “Civil War” if Democrats seriously pursue removing him from office could actually be grounds for impeachment, one Harvard Law professor said.
“If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal,” Trump tweeted on Sunday night.
The tweet was a quote from Robert Jeffress, a Southern Baptist pastor who gave the comment during an appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend. Trump added his own parenthetical aside to Jeffress’ quote, in which the president asserted that Congress won’t be successful in their impeachment efforts.
The president’s tweet was immediately met with backlash, and Harvard Law professor John Coates argued that the social media post itself is an “independent basis” for lawmakers to remove him from the White House.
“This tweet is itself an independent basis for impeachment – a sitting president threatening civil war if Congress exercises its constitutionally authorized power,” Coates wrote on Twitter on Monday.

By USA Today. Republican congressman and Air Force veteran Adam Kinzinger slammed President Donald Trump for suggesting that his impeachment could lead to a “Civil War.”
“If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal,” Trump tweeted on Sunday, quoting Robert Jeffress, an evangelical pastor and loyal Trump supporter who appeared on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
The suggestion of a civil war was met with widespread backlash — even from Trump’s own party, including Kinzinger, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“I have visited nations ravaged by civil war,” the Illinois lawmaker tweeted. “I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant.”

The House Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani for documents as part of its impeachment inquiry into the president.
In a letter to Giuliani dated Monday, the heads of three House committees asked for information related to the president’s and his lawyer’s efforts to get Ukraine’s government to investigate the Biden family.
Three Democratic-led panels — the Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees — are demanding that Giuliani produce all text messages, phone records and other communications related to the “scheme” he is accused of perpetrating “in order to determine the full extent of this effort by the President and his Administration to press Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 presidential election.”
They wrote that the House Democrats’ probe “includes an investigation of credible allegations that [Giuliani] acted as an agent of the President in a scheme to advance his personal political interests by abusing the power of the Office of the President.” Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Elijah Cummings, D-Md., and Eliot Engel, D-N.Y. — who lead the Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees, respectively — asked him to produce documents by Oct. 15. . .
The subpoena adds to the heightened scrutiny of both administration officials and outside Trump confidants after the House decided last week to move forward with impeachment proceedings. On Friday, the Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for documents. The heads of the Appropriations and Budget committees also asked Friday for records related to the Office of Management and Budget’s involvement in the Trump administration deciding to hold back nearly $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. President Donald Trump on Monday took aim at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) for making up his own version of Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a hearing with Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire. The candid comments came in response to a reporter’s question about the whistleblower’s identity, The Daily Caller reported.
“President Trump, do you know the identity of the whistleblower?” NBC’s Hallie Jackson asked.
“We’re trying to find out about the whistleblower that reports things that are incorrect. As you know, and you probably figured it out, the statement I made to the president of Ukraine – a good man, a nice man, new – was perfect. But the whistleblower reported a totally different statement, like a statement that was not even made,” Trump replied.
“When the whistleblower reported it he made it sound terrible. And then you had Adam Schiff, who, even worse, made up my words, which I think is horrible. I’ve never even seen a thing like that,” the president explained. “Adam Schiff – representative, Congressman – made up what I said. He actually took words and made it up. The reason is when he saw my call to the president of Ukraine it was so good he couldn’t quote from it because there was nothing done wrong. It was perfect.”

On Monday, a letter from Australian Ambassador Joe Hockey to Attorney General William Barr surfaced showing the Australian government intended to help the Trump administration get to the bottom of the origins of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. The letter was originally sent in May.
“The Australian Government will use its best endeavors to support your efforts in this matte. While Australia’s former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, the Hon Alexander Downer, is no longer employed by the government, we stand ready to provide you with all the relevant information to support your inquiries,” the letter reads.
President Donald Trump called Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison last week to ask for his help into the investigation. The call took place before Morrison traveled to the United States later in the week, The Guardian reported.
“The Australian government has always been ready to assist and cooperate with efforts that help shed further light on the matters under investigation,” the Australian government said in a statement, which confirmed the call. “The PM confirmed this readiness once again in conversation with the president.”

A whistleblower complaint filed in August accused Trump of pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, during a July 25 phone call. Pelosi Suggests Losing the House Might Be Worth the Price If Trump Is Impeached

“It doesn’t matter,” Pelosi said in response to a question from Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith about whether she is worried how an impeachment inquiry will impact the 2020 House elections. “Our first responsibility is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” She made the comments during an an interview at Tribune Fest, a festival in Texas highlighting newsmakers.
“People say you have to take a political risk doing that,” she added. “That doesn’t matter. That doesn’t matter. By Vox. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) would like to obtain more of President Donald Trump’s phone calls with world leaders — especially those with Russian President Vladimir Putin, although that’s the last thing the Kremlin wants.
The White House has released a record of a phone call Trump held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to rebut a whistleblower’s allegations Trump asked a foreign leader to investigate a political opponent. The White House’s record of that call did contain Trump asking Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, and the whistleblower claims the administration placed its notes from the call in a system meant only for highly classified material in order to keep the request secret. . .
On NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, Schiff, who as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is leading investigations into the Ukraine matter, said he wanted to better understand whether the White House was trying to hide any more calls with foreign leader — and if so, why.
“The paramount need here is to protect the national security of the United States and see whether, in the conversations with other world leaders and, in particular, with Putin, that the president was also undermining our security in a way that he thought would personally benefit his campaign,” Schiff said.
“If those conversations with Putin or with other world leaders are sequestered in that same electronic file that is meant for covert action, not meant for this, if there’s an effort to hide those and cover those up, yes, we’re determined to find out,” he added. Former national security adviser Susan Rice slammed President Donald Trump for storing the notes from his phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a top-secret server — then admitted the Obama administration stored communications on the same server.
Speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival, Rice tore into the Trump administration for “unprecedented” actions, claiming officials have attempted to “bury” information.
“What [the Trump administration] did instead of storing it in the normal system, which is protected and classified, even though there was no classified substance in that actual discussion,” Rice said. “Instead of putting it where it normally resides, they hid it on a very highly sensitive, highly compartmented server that very few people in the U.S. government have access to in order to bury it.”
Then Rice was asked by the moderator how often the Obama administration did what she is criticizing the Trump administration for doing.
“We never moved them over unless they were legitimately, in the contents, classified,” she admitted

Economist and New York Times op-ed columnist Paul Krugman suggested Friday evening that either “thousands of journalists” will be imprisoned because of the administration or President Donald Trump will end up in jail.
A formal impeachment inquiry was launched Tuesday after news that Trump had asked Ukrainian officials to look into Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter regarding business dealings in the country. The transcript of this phone call was held in a special computer system for sensitive calls, according to the NYT.
The White House restricted access to other phone calls between Trump and foreign leaders, CNN reported Friday evening. Following this news, Krugman tweeted that there seemed to be “two possible outcomes.” . . .

I know we’ve repeated this line, but let’s recap again. House Democrats decided to get the impeachment circus going based on an anonymous whistleblower complaint that alleged President Trump shook down the Ukrainian political leadership by withholding military aid unless they opened a corruption probe into Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden. The quid pro quo allegations spread like Ebola and the Democrats are now moving forward with their three-year-long project: impeaching President Trump for…winning the 2016 election. Did the person, who is reportedly a CIA agent, listen in on the July call where this mob-like shakedown occurred? No. He heard it from second and third-hand sources, hence why it’s loaded with errors. The media reporting drummed it up as Watergate 5.0. It was another nothing burger. There was no quid pro quo. There was nothing illegal.

Well, you’d think that actual witnesses to activities that deem unethical would be the benchmark for reports like this, especially ones that will be used to impeach a president, right? A first-hand account is one thing, but this complaint is certainly not that. And it seems like the intelligence community secretly removed the direct, first-hand knowledge of wrongdoing requirement. Between May 2018 and August 2019, the intelligence community secretly eliminated a requirement that whistleblowers provide direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings. This raises questions about the intelligence community’s behavior regarding the August submission of a whistleblower complaint against President Donald Trump. The new complaint document no longer requires potential whistleblowers who wish to have their concerns expedited to Congress to have direct, first-hand knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing that they are reporting.
The brand new version of the whistleblower complaint form, which was not made public until after the transcript of Trump’s July 25 phone call with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and the complaint addressed to Congress were made public, eliminates the first-hand knowledge requirement and allows employees to file whistleblower complaints even if they have zero direct knowledge of underlying evidence and only “heard about [wrongdoing] from others.”
