TPUSA Heads to Baltimore to See If the City Is Rat Infested. Here’s What They Found.

Ever since President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to chide Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) about the state of Baltimore, which sits in the heart of his district, political pundits have debated just how bad the city truly is.

CNN’s Victor Blackwell got emotional when he heard Trump’s comments about his hometown. A current Baltimore resident, however, confirmed one thing: the city really is rodent infested and Cummings has done nothing to help residents out over the last 20+ years he’s been in office.

Turning Point USA’s Chief Content Creator, Benny Johnson, hit the streets of Baltimore to talk to residents about their experiences and to set the record straight.

“Rats are a community problem that must be addressed by all residents. When a rat infestation exists at one location it may easily spread to adjacent properties,” the website states. “To help alleviate this problem, Baltimore County has hired a licensed exterminator to treat areas affected by this issue. We will be treating homes with alley access. Notification signs of when treatment will begin will be placed at the main street entrances of your community.”

President Trump Has Issued a Number of New Pardons

President Trump issued a number of pardons Monday afternoon shortly before meeting with inner city pastors at the White House. The individuals accepting the pardons are Michael Tedesco, Roy Wayne McKeever, Rodney Takumi, John Richard Bubala and Chalmer Lee Williams.

“After a careful review of the files of each of these individuals, President Trump has concluded that each are entirely deserving of Executive Clemency. Through these full and unconditional pardons, the Federal rights of these men, including the right to vote and the right to bear arms, have been fully restored. Today, they are once again full and equal citizens under the law,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham released in a statement.

Here are their backgrounds, provided by the White House press office:

In 1990, Mr. Bubala pled guilty to improper use of Federal Government property by transferring automotive equipment to the town of Milltown, Indiana, for its maintenance use. His primary aim was to help the town, and he sought neither compensation nor recognition for his actions. Today, Mr. Bubala is actively engaged in charity work, volunteering at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, leading education classes on the American Flag, and serving on an honor detail for veteran funerals.

In 1989, when he was 19 years old, Mr. McKeever was arrested for transporting marijuana from Mexico to Oklahoma. Upon arrest, he immediately accepted responsibility and pled guilty to one count of using a telephone to facilitate the distribution of a controlled substance. Mr. McKeever was sentenced to one year in prison and one year of supervised release. He has spent the past 29 years of his life atoning for his offense through charitable works in his community. Today, he is an active member of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, which supports local law enforcement and provides critical resources to officers across Texas. WATCH: Baltimore Resident Confirms Trump’s ‘Racist’ Claims About the City

By Townhall. President Donald Trump chided Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) on Saturday for shouting down acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan over conditions in detention camps during a hearing last week.

While all of Cummings’ so-called “accomplishments” look great to the Democratic Party, one of his residents, Michelle, completely agrees with what President Trump said.

“What he [President Trump] said was definitely true,” Michelle said in a video. “He [Cummings] hasn’t done anything for us for the last, I think he’s been in office over 20 years?”

Trump is right about Baltimore — and the Democrats know it

By New York Post. . .Predictably, the Left—including most of cable news—rushed to condemn Trump as a racist. Speaker Nancy Pelosi — whose father was once mayor of Baltimore — called Cummings “a beloved leader in Baltimore, and deeply valued colleague. We all reject racist attacks against him and support his steadfast leadership.” Senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted, “Donald Trump’s tweets are ugly and racist.” Beto O’Rourke called him “the most openly racist president we’ve had in modern history.” Senator Bernie Sanders chimed in, too.

The operative rule in politics these days seems to be that any criticism of a non-white politician from anywhere to their right is, by definition, a racist attack. Nothing Trump said pertained in any way to Elijah Cummings’s skin color or ethnicity, only to his failure as a legislator and political leader to do anything to improve his district. The real question is: Is he right? . . .

By any measure of systemic urban collapse, Baltimore is, as Trump said “very dangerous & filthy.” Among the largest 30 American cities, Baltimore has the highest crime rate, and is a close second to Detroit for the highest rate of violent crime. But for murders, Baltimore is second to no other city, with more than 50 homicides per 100,000 people. That puts Charm City in the ranks of Jamaica, Venezuela, and El Salvador in terms of lethality. . .

Some have suggested that it’s unfair for the president to blame Elijah Cummings for his district’s woes, since congressmen don’t control local issues like trash pickup or law enforcement. But Cummings is a Democratic powerbroker in Baltimore, which has been run by a succession of failed mayors—one of whom stole gift cards meant for poor children, and another who “sold” thousands of copies of her unreadable book to the public hospital system. Local state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby is credited with bungling the investigation into the death of Freddie Gray. Cummings is an integral part of a corrupt, dysfunctional political machine that is directly responsible for Baltimore’s misery. Director of National Intelligence Resigns, Trump Announces Replacement

President Trump on Sunday announced that Texas GOP Rep. John Ratcliffe, a staunch White House ally, will replace Dan Coats as director of national intelligence (DNI), following months of speculation and public spats between the president and the intelligence community.

The move prompted immediate outrage from many top Democrats who accused the president of seeking to appoint a blindly loyal yes-man to the key post.

A source close to the matter told Fox News that Coats never saw his 2017 appointment as a long-term proposition. Ratcliffe has been well-versed in the intelligence community after driving key sections of ongoing Republican-led probes into apparent Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuses by the FBI and Justice Department, Fox News is told.

Coats submitted his letter of resignation to President Trump on Sunday. Part of it read: “The Intelligence Community is stronger than ever, and increasingly well prepared to meet new challenges and opportunities. As we have previously discussed, I believe it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life.” . . .

Coats frequently appeared out of step with Trump during his two-year tenure, and their frayed relationship reflected broader divisions between the president and the government’s intelligence agencies. (Read more from “Director of National Intelligence Resigns, Trump Announces Replacement” HERE)

Trump Is Ready to Label Antifa a Terrorist Organization

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday night to say he supports labeling Antifa a terrorist organization.

. . .

The declaration appears to come after conservative journalist Andy Ngo appeared on Fox News to discuss the Antifa attack he sustained last month. Ngo was beaten, had “milkshakes” filled with cement mixers thrown at him and his GoPro camera was stolen. He suffered a brain injury as a result of the beating.

Earlier this month, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) introduced legislation that would label Antifa a terrorist organization. Cruz and Cassidy’s resolution was in direct response to Antifa’s attacks on Ngo in Portland last month.

Trump Campaign Selling out of Straws, Expects to Raise $500k From Them by Next Week

Last week, President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign began selling red plastic straws with his name on them.

My former colleague Philip Wegmann reported at RealClearPolitics that the campaign had originally ordered 200,000 straws but sold out of them quickly and had to order more. A campaign official told Real Clear that sales are expected to exceed $500,000 as early as next week. Tim Murtaugh, the campaign’s communications director, told Real Clear that the “paper straw is universally hated.” . . .

Murtaugh also told the outlet that the campaign intended to sell the straws as “a proxy” for conservatives’ annoyance with Big Government and political correctness.

“It is a great marketing stroke which coincides very much with the president’s disdain for political correctness and dictating how people live their daily lives,” he said. “These straws are a perfect marriage of the Trump approach to things and of Trump-marketing. It just works.” . . .

Real Clear reported that the campaign has already sold $428,145 worth of straws, filling 28,543 orders. Murtaugh told the outlet that 40% of the purchases were from first-time donors. (Read more from “Trump Campaign Selling out of Straws, Expects to Raise $500k From Them by Next Week” HERE)

Bill de Blasio: Trump ‘Will Not Be Welcome Back in New York City’

After receiving criticism from President Donald Trump, Democrat presidential hopeful, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio challenged him to a debate in New York and said he “will not be welcome back” after his presidency during a show hosted by BuzzFeed at Webster Hall in the East Village.

“I challenge you, Donald Trump, to come to New York City, and I will debate you about what’s right for New York City and BuzzFeed can host it,” de Blasio stated. “[Trump] doesn’t understand New York City.”

De Blasio then stated that after Trump’s presidency concludes, he will “not be welcome” back in the Big Apple.

“When his presidency is over, really soon, he will not be welcome back,” de Blasio told BuzzFeed Editor in Chief Ben Smith.

Earlier this week, President Trump urged de Blasio to “stand up” for the New York City police officers who were soaked by bucketfulls of water and had objects thrown at them.

WATCH: Ridiculous Michael Moore Reveals Who Could ‘Beat Trump’, but They’re Not Running

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore said Thursday night there is not a single person among the more than two dozen Democratic presidential candidates that inspires the base of the party enough to beat President Trump in 2020.

“We have to have a beloved American running, not a professional politician,” he told “Late Night” host Seth Meyers. “You’ve got to have someone who inspires the base. The base, here, of the Democratic Party, are women, people of color, and young adults between 18-35. That’s 70 percent of who’s going to vote next year.” . . .

“You couldn’t wait to get to the polls… Who are you going to say that about of the 25 that are running? Right now, when you wake up a year from November, ‘I can’t wait to get to the polls so I can vote for… John Hickenlooper!'” he said jokingly. “Or ‘Joe Biden!’ I love Joe Biden… but we gotta win!”

The “safest candidate” in this election is not what will bring victory to the Democrats, he said, and would be a “huge mistake.” A Democratic “version” of Donald Trump is what’s needed, he argued.

“He’s a street fighter. We need a street fighter. That’s the only way you’re going to defeat him,” he said. “You’re going up against a bully.”

Supreme Court Makes Major Ruling on Border Wall Funds

The United States Supreme Court ruled on Friday that President Donald Trump can use $2.5 billion in military funding to build the border wall along the U.S. southern border.

USA Today reports that the Supreme Court’s “order temporarily settles just one of several skirmishes between the Trump administration and House Democrats, ‘blue’ states led by California, and environmental groups over border wall funds.” . . .

The Supreme Court’s ruling will allow the administration to build over 100 miles of Trump’s border wall along the U.S. southern border in Arizona, New Mexico, and California, which Bloomberg noted is Trump’s “biggest step yet toward erecting his long-promised wall.”

“The 30-foot steel bollard fencing will replace barriers that the Trump administration says are dilapidated and ineffective,” Bloomberg continued. “Some of those existing barriers are designed only to prevent vehicles from crossing and don’t stop pedestrians.” . . .

“The $2.5 billion had been shifted from various programs including personnel and recruiting, Minuteman III and air launch cruise missiles, E-3 aircraft upgrades and the Afghan security forces training fund,” CNN reported. “The Pentagon said it was able to move that money due to uncovered cost savings as part of a process known as ‘reprogramming.’ The money was moved into a Defense Department counter-drug account that is authorized to spend money on the construction of border barriers.” (Read more from “Supreme Court Makes Major Ruling on Border Wall Funds” HERE)

Trump Can’t Be Both the President of Growth and the President of Debt

With the unemployment rate below 4 percent for 16 consecutive months, one would expect economic growth to be soaring. Yet even as we experience the best job market since the late 1960s, this is the first time in modern history that we have not experienced a year of 3 percent GDP growth. What gives?

Earlier today, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced that the economy had grown just 2.1 percent during the second quarter of this year (ending June 30). It also revised Q4 of 2018 down to just 1.1 percent, which now means that growth during the 12 months ending Q4 of 2018 was only 2.5 percent, not 3 percent as previously thought. This means that the U.S. economy has now gone 14 years without a year-over-year growth of 3 percent. It’s been 19 years since we’ve hit 4 percent, which was during 1997-2000.

While the numbers don’t portend a coming recession, it is highly unusual for us to go for 16 consecutive months with unemployment below 4 percent and 43 months below 5 percent, yet never attain 3 or 4 percent annual GDP growth. In fact, that has never happened before. During the late 1990s, the unemployment rate ranged from 5.3 percent to 3.9 percent – not even as good as today’s 3.7 percent – yet GDP growth was over 4 percent. Ditto for the late 1960s, when we saw years of 6 percent growth. During the mid 1980s, we saw this growth even with higher unemployment rates.

The debt is not just a problem for future generations in terms of a fiscal cost that will be borne by taxpayers. The exclusive focus on the future is what has fostered the Louis XV mentality of “after me, the deluge.” Let’s face it, we are a nation that doesn’t care about the future of our children. What is missing from the discussion is that the debt is permanently weighing down economic growth now.

Let’s peek into the numbers behind today’s topline GDP report. GDP comprises personal consumption expenditures, gross private domestic investment, government spending, and net exports. Seventy percent of the equation is consumption, and the robust 4.3 percent growth in consumption this quarter is a big part of what is keeping us even at 2.1 percent growth. This is not artificial and is good news. Consumption is a sign of a healthy job market, with more people earning money, as well as the tax cuts putting more cash in people’s pockets to spend. No matter whether our economy is fully free market or quasi-socialist, whenever there is more money in people’s pockets, these numbers will go up. We are now in a boom period, and the numbers are good.

But what else is propping up the number? Government spending! Gross government spending, which accounts for about 17.5 percent of the GDP pie, spiked 5 percent. Non-defense spending rose by 15.9 percent!

Thus, without the spending binge, which will be accelerated by the budget betrayal promoted by the president and backed by more Democrats than Republicans in the House, the topline number would have been lower.

But here’s the problem. While government spending juices up the economy in the short run, the debt that we must incur to continue that spending is permanently weighing down the economy in the long run.

Which leads us to the third component – gross private domestic investment. That is the engine of a supply side economy. Those numbers contracted by 5.5 percent this past quarter, the worst showing since 2015. Investment in non-residential structures plummeted by 10.8 percent, highly unusual with such a good job market.

Then, of course, there is the final component: exports. Net exports were down 5.2 percent because of the tariffs.

Here’s the reality: Our economy is nothing like it was in the 1980s or 1990s. We have a huge misallocation of resources, with all sorts of capital going into government-mandated schemes that increase dependency programs or debt, rather than the most efficient investments.

Then the debt itself is hurting us. So much money is now spent on paying off interest. As interest rates are pushed higher, more private money is used to purchase higher-interest Treasury securities rather than invest in capital goods, such as factories and plants. The more government is desperate to service this debt, the more it will drive up interest rates, which in turn will divert and misallocate more investors into Treasury bonds. This further makes interest on the debt even more expensive, constantly reinforcing itself in a vicious cycle of debt and higher rates.

At some point over the past decade, we crossed the Rubicon of irrevocable lethargic growth because of debt. Interest on the debt is the fastest-growing expenditure of government. That is a problem now. So, we can create jobs and wages even in a centrally planned economy, but the debt and market distortions are creating so much inefficiency and waste that they are permanently capping our growth. I don’t believe we will ever achieve protracted 3 percent growth until the debt crisis is solved.

The president has been convinced that we can grow our way out of the debt. The problem is the debt itself is weighing us down from growing!

With two months left until the budget deadline, the president could have spent the entire summer recess building the case for a better debt deal. Instead, he chose to support a bill nearly unanimously supported by House Democrats that will add almost $2 trillion more in debt over the next 10 years.

If Trump wants to be the president of growth, he can’t have it both ways and be the president of debt. (For more from the author of “Trump Can’t Be Both the President of Growth and the President of Debt” please click HERE)
