Trump Notes ‘Great Crowd’ at Salute to America; President Talks Patriotism, Not Politics

By Breitbart. President Donald Trump noted the “great crowd” that attended the Salute to America celebration honoring the United States military on the Fourth of July.

“A great crowd of tremendous Patriots this evening, all the way back to the Washington Monument,” he tweeted.

Attendees with tickets were admitted into the area around the Lincoln Memorial and half-way down the reflecting pool around 3 p.m. ET. Heavy rain commenced around 3:30 p.m. ET. The rain lasted for approximately two hours before abating before the celebration began at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Blue State Blues: Trump’s Fourth of July Speech Was Patriotism over Politics

By Breitbart. President Donald Trump did more than defy his critics with his memorable Fourth of July address from the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday evening.

He likely established what will become an annual tradition — one later presidents, decades from now, will continue to observe.

And he gave the American people the tribute that we have long deserved, but which we have somehow been unable, until now, to give ourselves, too afraid to pass along to the next generation.

The president’s opponents said that his revamped Fourth of July celebrations smacked of authoritarianism. They said that the ceremonial use of tanks in a parade, as well as the flyovers from every branch of the U.S. armed forces, were somehow un-American — even though they had certainly been used before.

They said it was the height of narcissism for Trump to deliver a speech on Independence Day, that he would be turning the day into campaign commercial. (Read more from “Blue State Blues: Trump’s Fourth of July Speech Was Patriotism over Politics” HERE)

Trump, Protesters Gear up for an Untraditional July Fourth; Dem Critics Attack Celebration

By AP. In a sweltering capital threatened by storms, the traditional Fourth of July parade Thursday served as a warm-up act to a distinctly nontraditional evening event at the Lincoln Memorial, where President Donald Trump made plans to command the stage against the backdrop of a show of military muscle.

Protesters unimpressed by his “Salute to America” program inflated a roly-poly balloon depicting Trump as an angry, diaper-clad baby.

With his decision to add his own production to the usual festivities, Trump set himself up to be the first president in nearly seven decades to address a crowd at the National Mall on Independence Day. “I will speak on behalf of our great Country!” he said in a morning tweet. “Perhaps even Air Force One will do a low & loud sprint over the crowd.” (Read more from “Trump, Protesters Gear up for an Untraditional July Fourth” HERE)

Hillary Clinton Bashes Donald Trump’s Fourth Of July Military Extravaganza

By Huffington Post. Hillary Clinton is speaking out against President Donald Trump’s flashy display of military might for the Fourth of July, adding her voice to widespread criticisms of the event.

“We need a strong national defense, but a president shouldn’t need it next to him in a parade to show his patriotism,” she wrote Thursday in a tweet.

Trump has been accused of hijacking this year’s festivities in Washington, D.C., where he plans to showcase tanks and fighter jets for his “Salute to America” at the Lincoln Memorial. . .

The Pentagon appears to be attempting to avoid bad press related to the event. It reportedly distributed instruction cards to troops, reminding them to be careful when speaking to reporters and coaching them to express pride in their jobs and their tanks. Trump Is Still on Track to Win 2020

. . .I’m here to tell you that Trump is even closer to winning reelection now than he was at the end of last year. I am not alone in this observation. The Cook Political Report’s Amy Walter is seeing the playing field much the same way I am.

Heading into 2020, Trump’s primary strengths remain incumbency — since 1900, nearly 80 percent of incumbent presidents have been reelected — and the economy. Since FDR, every incumbent president, “who has avoided a recession in the lead-up to an election year was re-elected.” A trade truce or deal with China will most likely ensure a recession does not occur before next November.

Contrarians point to national polls and the slew of battleground state surveys, including Florida, and argue Trump is losing “bigly” to a handful of candidates and is therefore toast. The situation is certainly not ideal for Trump, but early polling from previous presidential tilts suggests the media and anti-Trump forces are getting way ahead of themselves. Who can forget that in June of 1983, eventual Democratic nominee Walter Mondale was leading President Ronald Regan by 10 points or that in June of 2011 a generic Republican presidential candidate was leading President Obama by 5 points? . . .

So what does Trump need to do to win reelection? His team can start by taking a page out of the 2012 Obama campaign playbook — and that is precisely what the Trump campaign is doing.

As Obama 2012 campaign aide Ben LaBolt points out, recent successful incumbent presidents prevailed “by executing a two-year campaign to exploit a contentious primary on the other side, reconnect with their base of supporters, and define the election as a choice, not a referendum.” After all, who can forget Mitt Romney being labeled a serial dog-abuser long before he received the 2012 Republican presidential nomination as a result of once taking a family trip with the dog riding in its crate on the car roof? Trump Unloads on Democrats over Border Crisis; Illegal Aliens Will Now Be FINED

By Daily Wire. President Donald Trump slammed Democrats on Wednesday for not helping to address the crux of the problem with the crisis on the southern border and suggested that Democratic lawmakers were lying about what they saw during their visit to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility this week.

“Our Border Patrol people are not hospital workers, doctors or nurses. The Democrats bad Immigration Laws, which could be easily fixed, are the problem. Great job by Border Patrol, above and beyond,” Trump tweeted. “Many of these illegals aliens are living far better now than where they came from, and in far safer conditions. No matter how good things actually look, even if perfect, the Democrat visitors will act shocked & aghast at how terrible things are. Just Pols. If they really want to fix them, change the Immigration Laws and Loopholes. So easy to do!”

Trump Administration Hits Some Immigrants in U.S. Illegally with Fines up to $500,000

By NPR. The Trump administration is seeking to fine some immigrants, who are in the United States illegally, hundreds of thousands of dollars for failing to take steps to leave after being ordered to do so, according to government documents obtained by NPR.

The Department of Homeland Security sent out a batch of notices across the country to targeted individuals ordering them to pay fines of up to nearly $500,000 for “failing to depart the U.S. as previously agreed,” among other factors. . .

“It is the intention of ICE to order you pay a fine in the amount of $497,777,” Lisa Hoechst, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, wrote to Edith Espinal Moreno in a letter dated June 25, 2019, obtained by NPR from lawyers for Moreno. Why Liberals Need to Shut Their Faces About Tanks Appearing During Trump’s Independence Day Event

Right now, we have a near Chernobyl-level style blow up over tanks and armored vehicles being part of the Fourth of July festivities this week. President Trump ordered it. It was a great decision. And the fact that the Left is triggered by this means that he should have ordered more tanks for the event. Tanks have been present for victory parades before. The optics is fine. No one cares about that. Americans are patriotic and they like seeing tanks. The only people who have problems with all of this are the Democratic Party and their allies in the media because Trump has taken over the event. He can do that. He should do that. And the Left just needs to shut their face over this.

If a Democrat took over this event and put tanks on display, there would be no criticism. After the Democratic debates, I don’t want to hear lectures from Democrats about patriotism. They care more about illegal aliens than citizens. That was made explicitly clear.

. . .[I]t’s a tank. Get over it. What do these morons think is going to happen? A coup? This is why no one trusts the media. It’s overreactions to this, among many other things they do poorly. They’ve shown they cannot cover this White House properly and this was a guaranteed move that would trigger the Left. Again, elections have consequences. We won. You lost. This isn’t Tiananmen either. Just shut up, watch the tanks, the fireworks, and enjoy the Fourth, liberal media if you can, you horrible excuses for human beings. 9th Circuit Refuses Trump Request to Block Judge’s Ruling to Stop Military Funds for Border Wall

An appeals court denied the Trump administration’s emergency request to block a federal judge’s ruling that prevents President Trump from using $2.5 billion in military funds to build a wall along the southern border.

In a 2-1 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit said in an opinion that “a stay of the district court’s order granting Plaintiffs an injunction is not warranted.”

The Justice Department appealed after U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam, who is an appointee of former President Barack Obama, ruled to permanently block the $2.5 billion after issuing a temporary injunction in May to stop the administration’s use of the funds. The ruling stymied several construction projects in California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Gilliam ruled in two lawsuits on Friday. The first, brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition, came in response to Trump’s national emergency declaration transferring $6.7 billion in military funds to border wall construction. Gilliam’s decision halted the use of funds meant for Defense Department counter-drug activities.

In May, upon issuing the temporary injunction on border wall funding, Gilliam noted that the partial government shutdown earlier in the year represented an improper balance of power between lawmakers and the president. He stated, “The position that when Congress declines the Executive’s request to appropriate funds, the Executive nonetheless may simply find a way to spend those funds ‘without Congress’ does not square with fundamental separation of powers principles dating back to the earliest days of our Republic.” (Read more from “9th Circuit Refuses Trump Request to Block Judge’s Ruling to Stop Military Funds for Border Wall” HERE)

Hollywood Freaks over Trump’s ‘Salute to America’ Event

A slew of Hollywood figures freaked out on Wednesday over President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated “Salute to America” event, scheduled to kick off on July 4th, saying it’s “all out of his Nazi playbook.”

“In the face of a humanitarian crisis, that this malignant narcissist would steal taxpayer dollars to stage a partisan display of Autocracy to massage his damaged psyche is nothing short of sociopathic,” left-wing director Rob Reiner said Wednesday.

President Trump in February announced that he intended to hold a massive event in Washington, D.C., on Independence Day.

“HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called “A Salute To America” and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!” the president said.

. . .

Indeed, the “Salute to America” event is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday and will feature remarks from President Trump, military aircraft flyovers, and performances by each branch of the military.

Trump’s Campaign Manager Reveals His Thoughts About 2020

Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale isn’t worried about whoever emerges as the Democratic challenger next year and is confident the president will win four more years in the White House.

“I think the president could beat anybody. The momentum we’re seeing right now. I mean look… one hundred five million raised, a hundred million cash on hand. What we’re seeing overall the president success is overseas, the momentum behind this president right now is like nothing that history has ever seen,” Parscale said Tuesday on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” dismissing Democratic presidential contenders Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg’s rise in the polls and campaign fundraising.

The Trump campaign announced Tuesday that its re-election operation raised a whopping $105 million in the second quarter, significantly more than Democrats have been pulling in.

A Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday showed Joe Biden at 22 percent, down 8 points from a prior poll in June. Harris, meanwhile, soared from just 7 percent to 20 percent in the latest survey, putting her in a statistical tie with the Democratic powerhouse. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren held steady at 14 percent. . .

“We’re not even in the main portion of the campaign yet where we’re already raising large numbers, this president in the voice he has, the message he can control, in the way he can control what’s happening on the media. No one can touch this,” Parscale said. (Read more from “Trump’s Campaign Manager Reveals His Thoughts About 2020” HERE)

You Can’t Look at Trump’s North Korea Moves Without Looking at China

President Trump set foot several feet into North Korea. Is that a big deal? No other president has done it. Was it a symbolic gesture? Yes. Did it provide a great photo op for the North Korean leader? Absolutely. Was it seen as a stunt by the mainstream media in the U.S.? Of course. Does anyone think credit would be given to President Trump for any action he takes? We are talking about a huge segment of the U.S. media that would cheer for the enemy during a fight if it meant they could blame the president.

I’ve spent years watching and analyzing the events in North Korea and spent some of my military years preparing for a conflict with that nation. I’ve looked at issues ranging from potential individual actions all the way up to nation-state conflict. Here’s the reality: Kim Jong Un is not the leader of a sovereign nation. He is, as his father was, the person who inherited the job of overseer of China’s primary proxy fighter.

To put it more bluntly, Kim Jong Un runs the rabid dog Beijing keeps on a short leash. To believe that at any level of government, North Korea is an independent nation that can be approached by any other nation without approval or oversight from China is simply naive. North Korea is and has been for decades a threat to world peace – a threat that was proven indelibly in one horrific war already. North Korea is and has been a tool for China to leverage against the United States. Push China too far, and out comes the rabid dog.

So, is it possible for Mr. Kim to commit to any agreement without first receiving guidance from his puppet masters in Beijing? Is it possible to pry North Korea away from the orbit of China?

The answer to both questions is a resounding no.

Would China go to war before it would accept North Korea ending up in a Western-dominated environment?

You can bet your bottom dollar on it.

Since North Korea is not a sovereign nation, the next logical question is: Why is the U.S. seemingly wasting its time talking to a puppet?

Perhaps the U.S. is using Kim as a leverage point on a much larger issue. Perhaps this is all about countering the long-term Chinese vision for the region.

When you’re involved in preparing for war, you understand the true purpose of North Korea. So once you know your enemies’ tactics, you must set a plan to counter them. Can the U.S. and others show the people of North Korea there is a better way of life out there? In the end, is the issue of North Korea about North Korean nuclear weapons – weapons China would never allow North Korea to use without approval – or is it about containing the Chinese dragon?

Is it better to threaten Kim Jong Un and win a few votes back home come election time, or is it far more effective to play nice with him despite anything he might say or do? How does Beijing argue with President Trump agreeing to take a few steps into North Korea? How would the Chinese government paint that in a bad light? Seen from my foxhole, that move was pure genius.

If Team Trump has figured out how to play to the weaknesses of the primary Chinese proxy tool in a way not based on threats of total destruction, then I suggest his team has found a path that might just work. Does it give the appearance of going soft, as in the Clinton, Bush, and Obama years? No. Those administrations had a sadly simplistic approach to North Korea: avoidance. Team Trump seems to be on a mission to create pressure between the puppet proxy kingdom and its overlords in Beijing.

If it is indeed true that Team Trump is approaching this with a “peace through strength” strategy to counter China – the real player in the theater – and not from one of weakness that so defined his predecessors, then how will we know if the plan is working?

Well, that answer was on display just last week when Xi Jinping, the leader of China, visited his puppet kingdom. CNN reports that it was the first time a Chinese head of state has visited North Korea in 14 years. It demonstrates that China needed to show not just Mr. Kim, but his military commanders, who really calls the shots for North Korea. Jinping knew President Trump might take advantage of the G-20 summit trip. How could he not show up to make sure key people know where they stand? Let the trade talks continue to go badly for China, and they are, and you will see the puppet leader do something newsworthy.

Can Xi Jinping order North Korea to completely walk away from President Trump’s efforts? Yes. Another ballistic missile test or the cancellation of talks with South Korea would be disastrous for the 2020 election bid. The reality is, the puppet nation is still a tool at the disposal of the number one thereat to the U.S. President Trump is taking a calculated gamble.

In the end, it’s not only about the nukes, folks. Divide and conquer: It’s a timeless game the U.S. better remember how to play. (For more from the author of “You Can’t Look at Trump’s North Korea Moves Without Looking at China” please click HERE)

Inside Trump Campaign’s Plan to Re-Energize Evangelicals

President Trump’s re-election campaign is developing an aggressive, state-by-state plan to mobilize even more evangelical voters than supported him last time, campaign officials tell Axios.

Why it matters: Trump captured 81% of the evangelical vote in 2016, a huge accomplishment considering they make up roughly a quarter of the electorate and play a prominent role in swing states like Florida. . .

The goal: Paint Trump as a champion of socially conservative issues and warn evangelical voters that his defeat could destroy the progress he’s made.

“There is a significant evangelical outreach effort. It’s going to be state specific. It’s going to exist in important battleground states and focus on churches and areas where we can have an impact,” a campaign adviser said. “African American outreach will be a component of that. … It’s robust, and it will be well-funded.”

Details: The campaign is hyper-focused on registration. It aims to make sure evangelicals, conservative Catholics and Mormons who are already registered vote on Election Day and — more importantly — ensure that the coalition they’ve built is registering people within their communities on the campaign’s behalf, a campaign official said.
