Trump Administration Issues Final Obamacare Religious Exemption Protecting Little Sisters of the Poor

The Trump administration released two final rules Wednesday finalizing their interim rules regarding entities with religious objections to covering their employees’ contraceptives.

The first rule provides an exemption from Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate for entities and individuals with religious objections to the mandate.

The second rule provides an exemption to nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and individuals with non-religious but moral opposition to such coverage.

“The religious and moral exemptions provided by these rules also apply to institutions of education, issuers, and individuals,” the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement about the rules. “The Departments are not extending the moral exemption to publicly traded businesses, or either exemption to government entities.”

When the Obama administration initially introduced the mandate, The Little Sisters of the Poor and other nonprofit religious organizations that had religious objections to it were forced to sue. Trump Reacts to Midterm Results as Republicans Keep Control of Senate

President Donald Trump tweeted his pleasure with the results so far from the 2018 midterm elections with several key races remaining to be called.

Trump heavily invested himself in several races where Republicans have either flipped Democratic seats or held on to them with victories in Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri and North Dakota. Trump also scored gubernatorial victories in Florida and Ohio. . .

“As President, Donald J. Trump has headlined an unprecedented 50 rallies — 30 in the last two months alone — and he has campaigned for dozens of candidates at all levels of government. The President has energized a staggering number of Americans at packed arenas and in overflow crowds at rallies across the country,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said ahead of polls closing Tuesday. Trump Calls Sarah Sanders up on Stage at Massive Rally – Her First Words Bring the House Down

By The Daily Caller. President Donald Trump made a surprise introduction midway through his Monday rally at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The president stopped and looked to the side of the stage, and recognized perhaps the two most well-known women in his administration. “I have two other great women with me. You’ve never heard of them,” Trump said, “They’re very shy — Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.” . . .

She began with an apology. “You’ll have to forgive Kellyanne and I. We’re a little speechless because we’re not used to friendly crowds,” Sanders said to roars from the audience. Sanders is famous for jousting with a contentious press corps at the White House. Trump’s GOP Braces for Midwest Massacre

By Politico. . .Now, on the eve of the 2018 midterm elections, Republicans are bracing for a massacre in the Midwest.

“When we woke up after the 2016 election, there was a real possibility that we were seeing a realignment among white-working class voters in the Midwest—and that they could go the way that white-working class voters have gone in the south over the past generation,” said Matt Grossman, a political scientist at Michigan State University. “But two years later, there’s no sign that those gains are holding or being extended. Instead, there are a lot of campaigns in that region where Republicans are struggling to be competitive.”

Trump bears much of the responsibility. His approval rating has plunged, by double digits, in most Midwestern states. His presidency has energized the Democratic base in ways Hillary Clinton never could. His party’s rewrite of the tax code was disproportionately beneficial to wealthy people and corporations; to the extent the law is popular with voters, he barely tries to promote it. And his trade warring has been particularly burdensome to farmers, manufacturers and blue-collar workers in the Rust Belt, with numerous Republicans from affected states, including Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Steve Stivers of Ohio, pleading privately with Trump and his aides to find resolution. Border Wall Costume Leads to Administrative Leave for 14 School Employees

Fourteen Idaho school employees were put on administrative leave after wearing costumes of President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall and outfits that depicted Mexicans.

Middleton School District Superintendent Josh Middleton made the announcement Saturday morning after a special board meeting that addressed the costumes. A letter to the district’s community and parents outlined steps the district would take following the politically-charged costumes.

The plan includes having security at Middleton Heights Elementary School, having the District’s “Crisis Team” to “support the social-emotional well-being, for students, staff and parents,” and cultural sensitivity training for staff.

“Middleton is under a microscope, and I view this as an opportunity to learn and grow from this incident, and even more create enhanced learning environments where Every Child Learning Every Day is wrapped in Every Child Shown Kindness, Respect and Love Everyday,” Middleton wrote.

Photos of the school employees wearing sombreros and ponchos to represent Mexicans and a border wall costume that read “Make America Great Again” were posted on the school’s Facebook page Thursday night, but were later removed. Screenshots of the pictures went viral, according to The Associated Press. (Read more from “Border Wall Costume Leads to Administrative Leave for 14 School Employees” HERE)

Poll: Trump Turns Liberals Into Fat Drunks as Democrats Are More Likely to Eat Their Feelings, Drink

By Townhall. A recently released YouGov poll has found that due to political anxieties, Democrats are more likely to “eat their feelings” and drink more than their Republican counterparts. However, these same people were also more likely to exercise to reduce stress associated with politics as well.

According to a poll commissioned by the Daily Burn and conducted by YouGov, “Democrats are 50% more likely than Republicans to say they’re eating their feelings as a result of the current political climate.” But they were also 40% more likely to exercise.

Likewise, the report shows that “political pain points have been driving Dems to drink more, at a 2-to-1 ratio over their counterparts in the GOP.”

The same poll also found that Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike have admitted that events in the news have caused them to use more social media and binge-watch TV on platforms such as Netflix since 2016. However, even here Democrats were more likely to use social media at 59% Democrats and 52% Republicans admitting to increased usage. The numbers were similar for binge-watching TV at 57% and 50%. Liberals Only Care About Sexism When It’s Convenient

By The Hill. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and 176 Democrat members of Congress have sponsored a bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) that removes the references to women.

“Children, youths, and adults” are replacing the wording “women and children.” What to make of this? Confusion about what gender means now that “male and female” are being removed from the liberal agenda? Acquiescence to an activist, identity politics that seeks to elevate fluid gender perceptions above biological sex? It’s a travesty women would no longer be the focus of the Violence Against Women Act.

The left’s double speak around sexism seems only a matter of convenience. Think about it. Capitol Hill just endured weeks of mob protests crying out for victims of sexual abuse. The #MeToo movement is populated by women victims of sexual assault. Rep. Jackson Lee supposedly made a stand for women when she and her — dare I say female — colleagues from the House stood in protest at the Kavanaugh committee vote. As one of the “Women for Kavanaugh” sitting in front of that group of Congresswomen, I felt the animosity toward any woman not on their side — as if our voices were illegitimate.

Vulnerable women in the halls of the Hart Senate Building were fed extremist views that justice for survivors would be lost and “women would die” if Kavanaugh were on the court. Manipulating the pain of survivors of sexual abuse by inciting such fear is despicable and ultimately hurts women. (Read more from “Liberals Only Care About Sexism When It’s Convenient” HERE)

Trump Honors Black Civil War Troops With His Very First National Monument

On Friday, President Trump used his executive powers to designate the very first national monument of his presidency: a 380-acre site in Nicholasville, Ky. honoring black soldiers and refugees during the Civil War called Camp Nelson.

Yes, you read that right. Donald Trump’s first national monument honors black soldiers of the Civil War.

“Today, the site is one of the best-preserved landscapes and archeological sites associated with United States Colored Troops recruitment and the refugee experiences of African American slaves seeking freedom during the Civil War,” reads the proclamation.

Camp Nelson began as a supply depot and hospital for the Union Army, and there, once the ban on black men serving in the Union Army was lifted, 10,000 former slaves enlisted.

Of course, the media completely buried the story while instead obsessing over the hypothetical use of executive powers by the Trump administration to end birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants. What’s more important? An imaginary executive order or an actual executive order that honors the great African-American men who fought to preserve the Union? Of course, it does very little to further the Left’s plotline of the scary “neo-Nazi Trump administration,” so instead, the media didn’t put a single glimmer of light on this story.

Kate Kelly, director of public lands for the far-left advocacy group Center for American Progress, questioned the timing: “Given this announcement comes mere days before a tight election in Kentucky, we must also question whether the historic site is being used as a political pawn.”

The Left continually disregards overt pro-minority actions from this administration in order to give credence to conspiratorial wink-wink, nod-nod signals that are supposedly being made to white supremacists.

But the president’s record is clear, and this is yet another example of something the media is intentionally ignoring because it is driven by the trumped-up “Trump is racist!” narrative. Reporter Accuses Trump of Encouraging Political Violence — Trump Flips the Script

President Trump had a blunt response for a reporter accusing him of motivating political violence with his speech.

There has been a rash of politically motivated terror in the past two weeks. A right-wing zealot has been arrested in coordination with mail bombs sent to prominent Democrats and media targets, and a Synagogue was attacked by an anti-Semite, killing 11 members of the congregation.

As Trump was leaving the White House Friday, a reporter yelled, “You’re encouraging politically motivated violence with the way you speak.”

Trump pointed at the reporter and shot back, “You’re creating violence by your question.” . . .

A lot of the reporters are creating violence by not writing the truth. The fake news is creating violence. You know what? The people that support Trump and the people that support us, which is a lot of people, most people, many people, those people know when a story is true and when a story is false. If the media would write correctly and write accurately and write fairly, you’d have a lot less violence in the country.

Behind-The-Scenes Video Shows Trump Surprising Overjoyed Pittsburgh Hospital Staff

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited Pittsburgh Tuesday in the aftermath of the horrific Synagogue shooting that left 11 dead.

The president and first lady traveled to the Tree of Life Synagogue to pay their respects at the memorial erected to honor the dead. The first couple placed stones and flowers on a memorial as a sign of respect.

A gathering of demonstrators, however, was also present, protesting the president’s visit from a good distance away. They chanted, “President Hate, leave our state!” and “Trump, renounce white nationalism now!” . . .

Pittsburgh resident Sheryl Mascio, however, captured a behind-the-scenes moment of the president as he visited survivors of the shooting at a nearby hospital. Mascio posted the video on Twitter and it quickly went viral.

Booming: U.S. Wages and Salaries Grow at Fastest Pace in Ten Years

One of the economic metrics liberals have focused on during the Trump presidency has been wages. Their argument has been that while other fundamental indicators are undeniably strong, America’s growth is failing to help workers and families improve their own take-home pay. This has been paraded as a failure of tax reform (more on that later), and an indictment of an otherwise-roaring economy. With the midterms looming, it looks like the naysayers and nitpickers are going to have to smoke out a new pessimistic talking point — via CNBC:

Wages and salaries rose 0.9 percent, well ahead of expectations for 0.5 percent. Benefit costs were up 0.4 percent. On a yearly basis, wages and salaries jumped 3.1 percent, the biggest increase in 10 years. Wage increases have been the missing link in the economy since the recovery began in mid-2008. Average hourly earnings have been rising steadily but have stayed below the 3 percent level as slack has remained in the labor market. However the unemployment rate is now at 3.7 percent, the lowest since 1969, and wage pressures have begun to build.

A recent Fox News survey showed that tax reform is polling eight points above water — far better than it fared when the bill was being debated and demagogued — and an NBC poll gave Republicans a 15-point lead over Democrats on handling the economy. But the opposition party has continued to blast away at the tax law, deliberately feeding widespread public perception that the new system helped very rich people and corporations, as opposed to the middle class. Politico reported this morning about the misleading or outright false tax attacks Democrats are running against the GOP this cycle: “Republicans cut taxes for the vast majority of Americans, though you wouldn’t know it by some of the campaign ads Democrats have been running,” the story explains. “Some badly misrepresent the law, portraying it as a broad tax increase on the middle class.” (Read more from “Booming: U.S. Wages and Salaries Grow at Fastest Pace in Ten Years” HERE)
