Trump Fights Fake News With ‘Awards’ for ‘Most Dishonest and Corrupt Media’

President Trump taunted the media Tuesday night with a mysterious announcement of “the most dishonest & corrupt media awards.”

The tweet was the latest shot in a longstanding battle between the president and what he’s derided as the “fake news media.” Based on his past comments, it’s clear who could get nominated for the new “awards.”

“Whenever you see the words ‘sources say’ in the fake news media, and they don’t mention names,” Trump wrote in May 2017, “it is very possible that those sources don’t exist but are made up by fake news writers. #FakeNews is the enemy!”

For example, Trump slammed the Washington Post in December 2017 for a story claiming he came close to “rescinding” the nomination for Supreme Court pick Neil Gorsuch prior to his confirmation hearing.

Trump’s ‘Lock Her up’ for Huma Called Political

After eight years of a politicized Washington “swamp,” where the IRS under Barack Obama openly targeted conservatives and Christians, where Islamists were invited to set policy for the nation’s law enforcers, where the president himself actively ridiculed police officers trying to protect the public, now there’s a claim that the Department of Justice is being politicized.

The claim comes from an official with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which calls itself a Muslim civil-rights organization.

The move was prompted by President Trump’s call for the law to be enforced regarding Huma Abedin, a Muslim who was a top aide to Hillary Clinton while she was U.S. secretary of state . . .

That, claimed Robert McCar, the government affairs chief for CAIR, is just wrong.

“Calling for the imprisonment of political rivals is a clear attempt by President Trump to further politicize the Department of Justice. Every American who values the constitutional guarantee of due process should be outraged by the president’s statements.” (Read more from “Trump’s ‘Lock Her up’ for Huma Called Political” HERE)

Trump Responds to Kim’s ‘Button on Desk’ Comment

President Trump on Tuesday said that the nuclear launch button on his desk is “much bigger” and “more powerful” than that of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un – and that his button actually “works.”

“North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times,'” Trump tweeted. “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

Trump’s comments came after Kim said in a New Year’s Day speech that he had a nuclear launch button at his desk, and that the international community would have to accept North Korea’s status as a nuclear-armed nation as a “reality.”

In that address, Kim also said he was willing to send a delegation to the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February and engage in talks with Seoul about easing military tensions between the two countries.

South Korea responded to Kim’s remarks on Tuesday, calling for a dialogue between Seoul and Pyongyang aimed at de-escalating tensions ahead of the Winter Games. (Read more from “Trump Responds to Kim’s ‘Button on Desk’ Comment” HERE)

Trump Issues First Tweet of 2018

In his very first tweet of the new year, President Donald Trump directed fire at the government of Pakistan, suggesting that the U.S. should stop sending them billions in foreign aid while they continue to spread “lies & deceit” and harbor terrorists.

While the tweet may have been intended as a warning to Pakistani government officials to be more cooperative in the fight against Islamic radicalism, it was certainly not the first time the Republican president has openly pondered slashing aid to the country, long accused of harboring terrorists and undermining U.S. military efforts.

In August, Trump explained that the “next pillar” of his strategy for battling radical Islamic terrorism would include a “change in our approach to Pakistan.”

Addressing military personnel at Fort Meyer, Trump outlined a new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia and accused Pakistan of giving “safe haven to agents of chaos, violence and terror,” according to First Post.

In that same speech, Trump also issued a warning shot to Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan.

“Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with our effort in Afghanistan,” he explained. “It has much to lose by continuing to harbor terrorists.”

“We will also expand authority for American armed forces to target the terrorist and criminal networks that sow violence and chaos throughout Afghanistan,” he went on. “These killers need to know they have nowhere to hide — that no place is beyond the reach of American arms.”

During pivotal moments when American forces executed operations to rescue civilians or take down high-ranking terrorists inside Pakistan, that government has often been described as dragging its feet or working against U.S. efforts entirely.

After Osama bin Laden was killed by American forces in the northern part of the country in 2011, the Pakistani government jailed the man largely credited with helping the CIA locate the world’s most wanted terrorist — Dr. Shakil Afridi.

Afridi is accused of running a fake vaccination campaign and having ties to militant Islamists — charges Afridi and the U.S. have labeled ridiculous. Pakistan is refusing to hand the doctor over to American forces or even release him from prison, according to Reuters.

More recently, the Pakistani government rescued an American-Canadian family held hostage by the Taliban-affiliated Haqqani network for years. However, the operation only came to fruition in October after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson gave them the ultimatum of saving the family themselves or seeing the U.S. act on its own.

The Pakistani government has since refused to allow U.S. interrogators access to a captured Haqqani terrorist involved in the hostage taking.

Viewing Pakistan as an unreliable partner, Trump will likely slow the gravy train of millions in foreign aid the U.S. hands Pakistan annually.

The White House is now reportedly considering cutting $255 million in military assistance to the Muslim-majority country until its government decides to become more cooperative.

Plans to cut aid to Pakistan come after U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley announced major cuts to the United Nations, announcing in late December a plan to cut $285 million from funds the U.S. will provide to the international body’s 2018-2019 budget. In Year-End Tweets, President Trump Sends Best Wishes to All – Including ‘Haters,’ ‘Fake News Media’

By Fox News. President Trump on Sunday wished a happy new year to the people who elected him to the White House — and those who kept him in the headlines.

“As our Country rapidly grows stronger and smarter, I want to wish all of my friends, supporters, enemies, haters, and even the very dishonest Fake News Media, a Happy and Healthy New Year. 2018 will be a great year for America!,” Trump tweeted.

He followed up more than an hour later: “HAPPY NEW YEAR! We are MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and much faster than anyone thought possible!”

The president is spending the holidays in Palm Beach, where Mar-a-Lago hosts an annual New Year’s Eve bash. He told reporters outside, “We are going to have a tremendous year. Stock market, I think, is going to continue to go up. Companies are going to continue to come into the country.” (Read more from “In Year-End Tweets, President Trump Sends Best Wishes to All – Including ‘Haters,’ ‘Fake News Media'” HERE)

President Trump Predicts a ‘Fantastic’ New Year at Exclusive Mar-A-Lago Gala

By TIME. President Donald Trump predicted a “fantastic 2018” on Sunday night as he strolled down a red carpet to bid farewell to 2017 with an exclusive bash at his private club.

Accompanied by first lady Melania Trump and son Barron, a tuxedoed Trump spoke to reporters as he entered the gilded ballroom at Mar-a-Lago. He said the stock market will continue to rise and that companies are going to continue to come into the U.S.

Asked for his reaction to North Korea leader Kim Jon Un’s remarks about having a nuclear button on his desk, Trump responded by saying, “We’ll see.”

Guests gathered in the ballroom included senior White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Trump’s sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. (Read more from “President Trump Predicts a ‘Fantastic’ New Year at Exclusive Mar-A-Lago Gala” HERE)

Trump Website Removes Hidden Jab at Obama, the Replacement Might Be Even Better

A hidden piece of code inside President Donald Trump’s website that would replace the basic “page not found” error message with a snarky comment about former President Barack Obama has been removed from the website.

The Washington Post data reporter Christopher Ingraham first found the code that read “Oops! Something went wrong. Unlike Obama, we are working to fix the problem… and not on the golf course” and shared his discovery on Twitter.

According to Ingraham, the code appears on every action.donaldjtrump.com page paid for by the RNC.

The error message is also on some official GOP sites paired with a 404 error message that says “What do Hillary Clinton and this link have in common? They’re both dead broke,” Tech Crunch reported.

One Twitter user pointed out that the jab at Obama would never show up because the code used a single equal sign instead of the two that were needed.

The code about Clinton was similary “broken.”

However, soon after its discovery, the code was removed from the websites, replaced, according to BizPac Review, with, “Don’t worry, we’re making it great again.”

This code unveiling comes as the mainstream media has begun piling on in criticism of Trump’s recorded fifth straight day golfing during his winter vacation at Mar-a-Lago.

During his campaign in 2016, Trump said, “I’m going to be working for you. I’m not going to have time to play golf,” according to Newsweek.

The criticism for his golfing habit started this week, the day after he tweeted that he was going to go “back to work in order to Make America Great Again.”

Ingraham drew his conclusion that someone is “sensitive enough to Trump’s golf problem to make this issue go away quickly once people noticed” and expressed his desire to see what led to the coding change. Trump Declares War On…

On Nov. 1, American Urban Radio Network’s White House correspondent April Ryan asked Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders if President Trump believes slavery was wrong . . .

Today they got their unequivocal answer as President Trump has declared war on slavery like he did on ISIS.

With an estimated 25 million people suffering in slavery and as victims of human trafficking, President Trump has declared January as “National Slavery and Human Traffic Prevention Month.”

Perhaps you haven’t heard about the announcement.

That’s because none of the following news agencies have deemed it worthy of reporting: The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, nor any other major newspaper in America or around the world. Neither have any of the major broadcast or cable networks even mentioned it – including CNN. (Read more from “Trump Declares War On…” HERE)

‘Bundle Up!’: Trump Mocks Paris Climate Accord as His Hometown Freezes

By Fox News Insider. President Trump mocked the Paris Climate Accord he rejected earlier this year in a tweet highlighting the chilly temperatures in his home region.

“In the east, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record,” Trump wrote. “Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against.”

“Bundle up!” the president added.

Fox News Meteorologist Rick Reichmuth said New Years Eve revelers coming to watch the ball drop in Times Square will encounter a high of 20 degrees and low temperatures in the teens after sunset.

He said the conditions in the traditional security “pens” ball drop viewers must stay in could be “dangerous” as the temperatures drop. (Read more from “‘Bundle Up!’: Trump Mocks Paris Climate Accord as His Hometown Freezes” HERE)

Trump Tweets That ‘Cold’ East Coast ‘Could Use a Little Bit of’ Global Warming

By Dan Merica. President Donald Trump, on vacation in balmy Florida, suggested that climate change could be a good thing on Thursday, tweeting that cities gripped by freezing temperatures on the East Coast could use some warming.

Trump’s tweet further places the President’s climate policy out of step with the vast majority of scientists, who believe global warming is damaging for the United States and the world.

“In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Bundle up!” . . .

A White House official did not respond when asked what Trump’s tweet means for administration policy. Journalists have previously been told that Trump’s tweets should be considered official statements from the White House. Half of Americans Believe the Media Makes up Anti-Trump Stories

Nearly half of all Americans believe media outlets fabricate negative stories about President Trump, according to a new survey.

Forty-four percent of respondents in the 2017 Poynter Media Trust Survey say the media invent “fake news” to make the president look bad.

Of that cohort, 24 percent say negative stories about Mr. Trump are made up “about half of the time”; 14 percent “most of the time”; and 6 percent “all of the time.” Seventy-seven percent of that cohort are Trump supporters, and 74 percent are Republicans.

The survey found that a substantial minority of Americans, 31 percent, believe the media are the “enemy of the people,” a moniker Mr. Trump assigned to the national press in February. Among Trump supporters, that number is 63 percent.

Even more, 25 percent of Americans — and 42 percent of Trump supporters — say the government should “be able to stop a news media outlet from publishing a story that government officials say is biased or inaccurate.” (Read more from “Half of Americans Believe the Media Makes up Anti-Trump Stories” HERE)

Anti-Trump, Brexit Doomsayers: We Were Wrong

Historically, it seems, the prospect of a freer economy in which business owners have fewer restrictions and workers keep more of their wages brings out the harbingers of doom.

It was no different when British voters chose to leave the increasingly suffocating European Union and Americans elected businessman Donald Trump. Out came the predictions of a “post-Brexit recession” in the U.K. and a “Trump recession” in the U.S.

As it dawned on America’s stunned punditry the night of Nov. 8, 2016, that Donald Trump was going to be the next president, famed New York Times economist Paul Krugman wrote that the markets were “plunging” in response and Krugman’s answer to when they might recover was “never.”

“Under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news,” the Times columnist wrote. “What makes it especially bad right now, however, is the fundamentally fragile state much of the world is still in, eight years after the great financial crisis.” . . .

Yahoo Finance columnist Rick Newman confessed in a column Wednesday that he was wrong about his prediction of economic “gloom” after Trump won in November 2016. (Read more from “Anti-Trump, Brexit Doomsayers: We Were Wrong” HERE)
