Crowded Coop: Musk Drops Big Hint About Staffing Changes After Twitter Takeover

Elon Musk, who declared himself “Chief Twit” after closing his $44 billion takeover of Twitter this week, hinted at more staffing shakeups for the platform on Sunday morning.

A Twitter user asked Musk what the “most messed up” thing at Twitter right now is.

“There seem to be 10 people ‘managing’ for every one person coding,” Musk replied.

The Tesla CEO said in May, just weeks after first making the offer, that the “company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware” once the takeover is complete.

“I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent,” Musk tweeted on May 6. “Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!” (Read more from “Crowded Coop: Musk Drops Big Hint About Staffing Changes After Twitter Takeover” HERE)

Good Riddance: Hollywood Elites Panic, Vow to Quit Twitter Over Elon Musk Takeover

Left-wing Hollywood elites are vowing to quit Twitter after Elon Musk completed his $44 billion takeover of the social media giant this week. But their righteous fury is already being called phony by those who believe, as one put it, that quitting Twitter will become the new “I’m moving to Canada.”

NBC’s This Is Us producer Ken Olin was among the first to declare his Twitter exodus. “I’m out of here,” he tweeted Friday.

“No judgement. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s protect our democracy. Let’s try to be kinder. Let’s try to save the planet. Let’s try to be more generous. Let’s look to find peace in the world.” . . .

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure star Alex Winter also declared his departure from Twitter. “In retrospect it was inevitable,” he posted before providing a link to his other social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram.

Showtime’s Billions producer Brian Koppelman declared he will try to take a “breather” from Twitter. (Read more from “Good Riddance: Hollywood Elites Panic, Vow to Quit Twitter Over Elon Musk Takeover” HERE)

Musk Fires Person Who Censored Hunter Biden Story, Banned Conservative Accounts: ‘Buckle Up, Motherf*****s’

By Daily Wire. New Twitter CEO Elon Musk fired Twitter’s top lawyer Vijaya Gadde — head of legal policy, trust, and safety — immediately after taking over the social media company Thursday evening.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this year that Gadde “played a key role in the contentious decisions to ban Donald Trump and suppress news articles about Hunter Biden’s laptop.”

Politico reported earlier this year that after news broke in April that Musk would be buying the platform, “Gadde cried during [a] meeting as she expressed concerns about how the company could change.”

Musk also fired CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Sean Edgett, the company’s general counsel, The Washington Post reported. . .

“Elon Musk just fired the top people,” said Robert J. O’Neill, the Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden. “Buckle Up, Motherf*****s.” (Read more from “Musk Fires Person Who Censored Hunter Biden Story, Banned Conservative Accounts: ‘Buckle Up, Motherf*****s’” HERE)

Elon Musk Barges Into Twitter HQ Carrying Sink as Deal Nears: ‘Let That Sink In’

Billionaire Elon Musk carried an actual sink into Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters during a surprise visit Wednesday ahead of his expected acquisition of the company.

Musk shared a video laughing while lugging the sink into the lobby – two days before his court-ordered deadline to close a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter or face a trial. Earlier in the day, the Tesla boss changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit.”

“Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!” Musk tweeted alongside the nine-second video.

In a memo to staffers, Twitter chief marketing officer Leslie Berland revealed that Musk would be on site at the company’s headquarters throughout the week. Musk is also expected to personally address employees on Friday.

“Elon is in the SF office this week meeting with folks, walking the halls, and continuing to dive in on the important work you all do,” Berland wrote in the memo, according to Bloomberg. “For everyone else, this is just the beginning of many meetings and conversations with Elon, and you’ll all hear directly from him on Friday.”

Elon Musk Blasts Chess Champion Who Criticized His Ukraine Proposal

Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to criticism from Russian Chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov via Twitter on Wednesday. Musk tweeted that aside from chess, Kasparov “is otherwise an idiot” and a “douche.”

In an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” Monday, Kasparov advocates of “some kind of settlement,” as host Andrew Sorkin framed the question, between Russia and Ukraine. Kasparov called the concept “moral idiocy and total ignorance of lessons of history.”

In particular, Kasparov accused Musk of “moral idiocy and geopolitical blindness,” after the Tesla CEO suggested Ukraine could potentially cede Crimea and the city of Sevastapol to Russia in exchange for peace.

Responding to critics who question the cost of aiding Ukraine, Kasparov told Sorkin, “The cost is huge but Ukraine is paying this cost,” before adding, “So why are people sitting in the comfort of their mansions in Silicon Valley telling Ukraine how to conduct their own affairs?”

Musk replied to the Squawk Box Twitter clip saying, “While it’s true that Kasparov is almost as good at playing chess as my iPhone, he is otherwise an idiot”

Biden Admin Reportedly Unaware of “National Security Review” of Musk Ventures

Twitter is paring some of its overnight declines on reports that the White House is not aware of national security review for Musk Ventures (including Starlink and his deal for Twitter).

Of course, The White House is not supposed to comment on (or in fact even know about) what The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) does, so this statement is not entirely surprising.

“It does seem fanciful that the U.S. Government would view Twitter as a national security asset,” Canaccord Genuity’s Quest analyst Graham Simpson said in an email.

As we detailed overnight, one month ago we joked that should the Delaware judge force Musk to buy Twitter, then none other than the US government would step in and prevent the South African from gaining control over the blue-checkmark echo chamber of record, the one social media network which congressional testimony after congressional testimony has argued it can manipulate the outcome of elections.

Well, that prediction is about to come true, because according to Bloomberg, the Biden administration is discussing whether the US should subject some of Elon Musk’s ventures to national security reviews, including the deal for Twitter and SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network, citing people familiar with the matter. Elon Musk Planning to Cut 75% Of Twitter Workforce: Report

Billionaire Elon Musk told prospective investors in his deal to buy Twitter that he planned to get rid of nearly 75% of the social media company’s 7,500 workers, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing interviews and certain documents.

The job cuts are expected in the coming months, no matter who owns the company, according to the report.

Twitter’s current management planned to pare the company’s payroll by about $800 million by the end of next year, a number that would mean the departure of nearly a quarter of the workforce, the report said.

Human resources staff at the social media company have told employees that they were not planning for mass layoffs, but documents showed extensive plans to push out staff and cut down on infrastructure costs were already in place before Musk offered to buy the company, the Washington Post reported. Elon Musk Reverses Course on Starlink Decision in Ukraine

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk reversed course Saturday on continuing to provide Ukraine with free Starlink satellite services in their war against invading Russian forces.

Musk said Friday that he had decided to follow the “recommendation” of a Ukrainian diplomat who told him to “f*** off,” which came in response to Musk proposing a peace deal to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, by saying that SpaceX would no longer fund its Starlink satellite internet terminals in Ukraine for free.

Musk’s statement Friday triggered enormous backlash among pro-Ukraine activists, who called for taking action against the billionaire entrepreneur. Musk has previously stated that SpaceX’s deployment of the satellites to Ukraine has cost the company “$80 million and will exceed $100 million by the end of the year.”

“The hell with it,” Musk said, “even though Starlink is still losing money & other companies are getting billions of taxpayer $, we’ll just keep funding Ukraine govt for free.”

Tesla Wins Tax Breaks From China After Elon Musk’s Taiwan Comments: Report

Elon Musk’s electric car maker Tesla has been granted tax exemptions from China just days after the tech mogul was praised by Beijing for saying that Taiwan should become a “special administrative zone” ruled by the Chinese Communist Party.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled its latest list of electric vehicles that are eligible for purchase tax exemption.

The list includes the latest Tesla Model S and Model X units with 100 kWh battery packs, according to the Teslarati news site. The site reported that two Model S variants — the MSP2P and the MSP2LR — as well as the Model X variants MXP2P and MXP2LR were on the list of exempt vehicles.

Their inclusion on the list suggests that Tesla could soon begin delivering the cars to China soon, according to Teslarati.

Last Friday, Musk generated headlines and controversy after he told Financial Times that he thought Taiwan, the self-ruling island and US ally which China sees as a part of its country, should cede control to Beijing to avoid a broader conflict that would have global economic ramifications. Elon Musk Denies Report He Recently Spoke to Putin Before Unveiling Ukraine Peace Plan

Space and electric car guru Elon Musk denied reports that he recently talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin before unveiling his peace plan to end the war in Ukraine.

In a mailout to subscribers, Eurasia Group founder Ian Bremmer reported that Musk told him Putin was “prepared to negotiate” so long as Crimea remained within Russia’s grip, according to Vice News. Musk insisted that he hasn’t talked to Putin in nearly 18 months, which would precede the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. . .

Bremmer later appeared to rebuff Musk’s denial, reiterating that Musk told him that he spoke with Putin, though refraining from laying out a specific timeline.
