Facebook and Twitter only removed a small fraction of anti-Semitic posts users reported in 2021, highlighting the difficulties social media companies face when moderating hate speech.

A new report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate found that Twitter and Facebook took down fewer than one in nine reported examples of anti-Semitism over a six-week period in 2021. The center also reported hundreds of anti-Semitic posts on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The posts include Holocaust denial, Nazi symbolism, and hashtags like #holohoax and #killthejews. The posts received 7.3 million views on the social media platforms.

The study reveals social media giants’ inconsistent approach to content moderation. Facebook and Twitter have suppressed scientific pieces suggesting COVID-19 could have escaped from a Chinese lab. But the platforms’ efforts to fight “misinformation” do not extend to anti-Semitic posts. The center emphasized that the true percentage of anti-Semitic posts taken down is likely far lower than its study reported. Facebook, Google Mandates Vaccines for Employees

Google and Facebook have both announced that all employees returning to company offices must be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

NBC News reports that Google and Facebook have both stated that all employees returning to company offices will need to be fully vaccinated as fears around a delta variant of the coronavirus continue to rise amongst the Silicon Valley elite.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a memo to employees this week: “Anyone coming to work on our campuses will need to be vaccinated. We’re rolling this policy out in the U.S. in the coming weeks and will expand to other regions in the coming months. Getting vaccinated is one of the most important ways to keep ourselves and our communities healthy in the months ahead.”

Just a few short hours after Google’s announcement, Facebook enacted a similar policy. Lori Goler, Facebook’s vice president of people, told employees: “As our offices reopen, we will be requiring anyone coming to work at any of our US campuses to be vaccinated. How we implement this policy will depend on local conditions and regulations. We will have a process for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical or other reasons and will be evaluating our approach in other regions as the situation evolves. Facebook Slams Biden Admin Criticism, Says They Are ‘Looking For Scapegoats’ After Missing Vaccination Goal

Facebook called out President Joe Biden and top administration officials for asserting that social media companies are part of the problem when it comes to coronavirus misinformation circulating on their platforms, with the tech giant alleging that the White House was “looking for scapegoats for missing their vaccine goals.”

Tension rose between the Biden administration and social media companies after Biden told reporters Friday that Facebook and other platforms were “killing people” by not restricting content considered to be vaccine misinformation.

“We will not be distracted by accusations which aren’t supported by the facts,” Facebook spokesperson Dani Lever said in a statement.

WH Doubles Down on Its Criticism of Facebook Following Biden’s ‘Killing’ Remarks

The White House isn’t backing down from its harsh criticism of Facebook after President Biden on Friday accused the social media giant of “killing people” with misinformation about coronavirus vaccinations.

A Biden administration source revealed to Fox News on Saturday that the very public callout of Facebook followed months of frustration with the platform for failing to stamp out “dangerous” information about the vaccinations that have spread online.

The White House has been seeking help from Facebook and other social media sites since February on stopping misinformation from going viral, such as the myth that getting the shot will cause infertility.

While Facebook has made positive public statements on how they’ve partnered with the government and taken aggressive action to curb vaccine misinformation, the White House believes that the Big Tech company has fallen short.

“They’ve been withholding information on what the rules are, what they have put in place to prevent dangerous misinformation from spreading [and] how they measure whether it’s working,” a Biden administration official told Fox News. Animal Rights Lawyer With Show on Facebook Accepts Plea Deal In Murder-for-Hire Plot

Jennifer Emmi, the Colorado animal rights attorney accused of plotting to have her estranged husband’s new girlfriend murdered, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, PEOPLE confirms.

Emmi, 43, appeared in court June 28 and entered guilty pleas to seven felonies and four misdemeanors: solicitation to commit second-degree murder, menacing, heat-of-passion strangulation, attempting to influence a judge, violation of a bail bond, retaliation against a witness, stalking, criminal mischief, reckless driving, tampering and two counts of child abuse. . .

Authorities in Colorado had accused Emmi, who founded the Animal Law Center, a nonprofit animal ranch, of offering one of her ranch hands $100,000 to murder her estranged husband’s new girlfriend — the au pair the couple had hired to care for their three children.

Emmi asked the ranch hand to “take care” of the new girlfriend — meaning kill her — adding that the woman would not be missed if she were killed.

Emmi, who appeared regularly on regional news shows and also hosted a Facebook show about animals, was arrested in late January following a six-month investigation and charged with solicitation of first-degree murder, two counts of retaliating against a witness or victim and three counts of stalking. Facebook Roasted For Blocking Hashtag ‘Revolution’ On Independence Day Weekend

Facebook came under fire Sunday for blocking the hashtag “revolution” on the Fourth of July, a federal holiday celebrating the passage of the Declaration of Independence during the American Revolution.

Sharp-eyed social-media mavens noticed starting Friday that Facebook searches for “#revolution” were met with a “Keeping Our Community Safe” notification with an image of a locked page and the message, “Posts with revolution are temporarily hidden here.”

“Some content in those posts goes against our Community Standards,” said the message, which included a link to the standards page.

Facebook bars a host of content that violates its community standards under categories that include “Violence and Incitement,” “Sexual Solicitation” and “False News,” but the tech platform did not explain online why “#revolution” had been canceled.

Facebook’s Latest Warning to Users Is Creeping People Out

As part of their strategy to combat “extremism,” Facebook is issuing a new warning to users about “harmful” content an individual may have been exposed to. They’re also urging users to turn in others they suspect of being extremists.

“You may have been exposed to harmful extremist content recently. Violent groups try to manipulate your anger and disappointment. You can take action now to protect yourself and others. Get support from experts. Spot the signs, understand the dangers of extremism and hear from people who escaped violent groups,” one warning states.

Court: Sex Trafficking Victims Can Sue Facebook

The Texas Supreme Court ruled Friday that sex trafficking victims may proceed with their lawsuits alleging Facebook violated state anti-trafficking laws.

While social media platforms like Facebook cannot be held responsible for everything published on their platform, they may be sued for knowingly allowing criminal activity to occur, according to the Texas Supreme Court decision issued Friday afternoon. The high court didn’t rule on whether Facebook was guilty of any of the trafficking victims’ allegations, but said they may pursue those claims in court.

“We do not understand section 230 to ‘create a lawless no-man’s-land on the Internet’ in which states are powerless to impose liability on websites that knowingly or intentionally participate in the evil of online human trafficking,” wrote Justice James Blacklock who authored the court’s opinion.

“Holding internet platforms accountable for the words or actions of their users is one thing, and the federal precedent uniformly dictates that section 230 does not allow it,” he continued. “Holding internet platforms accountable for their own misdeeds is quite another thing.” (Read more from “Court: Sex Trafficking Victims Can Sue Facebook” HERE)

Facebook Faces Lawsuit for Discriminating Against Americans

The Department of Justice has quietly given the green light to a lawsuit charging Facebook with a policy of discriminating against thousands of job-seekers because they are American.

“Employers take note: Dept of Justice ALJ allows complaint that Facebook discriminated against US workers …. Case now goes to trial,” said a June 8 tweet by immigration lawyer William Stock.

“As the Court has previously held, allegations of manipulating the hiring practice to disqualify individuals based on citizenship, meet the legal standard in this forum for stating a claim upon which relief can be granted,” said the June 2 decision by the department’s little-known Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer (OCAHO).

The decision denied Facebook’s plea to dismiss the December 2020 discrimination complaint by officials working for President Donald Trump.

“It’s great that OCAHO is doing this, ” responded Bob Heath, a Florida-based tech entrepreneur who has filed several lawsuits against Fortune 500 subcontractors for discriminating against Americans. “The EEOC [Equal Employment Opportunity Commission] needs to jump on board, and the Department of Labor needs to jump on board,” Heath told Breitbart News. Facebook Removes Pro-Israel Page With Over 75 Million Followers

The founder of a pro-Israel Facebook page that had over 75 million followers says Facebook shut down the page after “radical Islamic” groups reportedly waged a “cyber terrorism” campaign targeting the page with hate speech.

Mike Evans, the founder of the “Jerusalem Prayer Team” page, told CBN News his Facebook page was the target of a harassment campaign that was orchestrated by radical Islamic organizations who posted fake comments and then reported those comments as spam to Facebook.

“There was an organized attempt by radical Islamic organizations to achieve this objective. They posted over a million comments on our site, and then had the people contact Facebook saying that they never posted to the site,” Evans said. “That was a complete scam and fraud. It was a very clever, deceptive plan by Islamic radicals.”

Evans, who is currently in Israel leading people around the world in prayer for the country amid renewed violence with Hamas and Palestinian terrorist groups, said his page was flooded with anti-Semitic comments — including photos of and quotes from Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. He also said the same groups that posted the comments directed people to report them to Facebook, flagging them as spam that violated the platform’s terms of service.
