Florida House Passes Bill Banning Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome

A bill in the Florida legislature would protect unborn babies with Down syndrome and other disabilities from eugenic, discriminatory abortions. And the Florida state House just gave it a vote to send it to the state Senate.

Pro-life state House Bill 1221 passed the full House 77-44. If enacted, the legislation would prohibit abortionists from doing abortions if the reason is because an unborn baby has been diagnosed with a disability, such as Down syndrome. Exceptions would be allowed if the mother’s life is at risk.

“For those of you that feel as strongly as you do that abortion is health care, there are many of us that don’t feel that the killing of a child can ever be health care, and we feel just as strongly as you do in your beliefs,” said Rep. Erin Grall, R-Vero Beach, according to the News Service of Florida.

Grall is the lead sponsor of the bill. State Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez, R-Doral, filed an identical bill, Senate Bill 1664, in the Florida Senate. (Read more from “Florida House Passes Bill Banning Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome” HERE)

Florida Asks Schools To Make Masking Optional In the Fall

There is a lot of focus on the 23 states that no longer have mask mandates in place, but the reality is that in all of those states, nearly all of the schools are still forcing children to wear masks for seven hours a day. Thus, the most unscientific and inhumane aspect of the mandate is largely intact in all but the most rural counties of red states. A new directive from the DeSantis administration in Florida aims to make the Sunshine State the first state where children can actually live a normal life again.

In a letter titled, “Planning for the 2021-2022 School Year,” Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran told the school districts that it’s time to follow the science.

“Upon reviewing the policies of those districts with mandatory face covering policies, reviewing all districts’ relevant health data, and factoring in such data points as the percentage of students learning in-person and the relative population of a county (which is often synonymous with a county’s community health resources), the data shows us that districts’ face covering policies do not impact the spread of the virus… Broad sweeping mandatory face covering policies serve no remaining good at this point in our schools” (emphasis in original). . .

An analysis by Rational Ground in December tabulated all of the days that various counties had mandates and compared them to the days without the mandates. They found that when counties did have a mandate in effect, there were 667,239 cases over 3,137 days with an average of 23 cases per 100,000 per day. When counties did not have a countywide order, there were 438,687 cases over 12,139 days with an average of 22 cases per 100,000 per day. This held true even adjusting for differences in population density.

This particular letter is earth-shattering in that it is the first department of education in the country to actually look at the data on mask-wearing rather than take its efficacy as an article of faith. Moreover, Corcoran recognized in the letter that face coverings are a “personal decision” and should be left to each family. Another State Set to Bar Transgender Athletes From Women’s Sports

The Florida House passed a bill that would bar transgender athletes from competing in women’s and girl’s scholastic sports.

“This is about giving women and girls an equal chance to succeed,” said state Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka, a former tennis player and coach. “It’s simple. It’s clear. I’ve reviewed it.”

The bill passed the Republican-controlled state House on Wednesday, 77-40.

If passed, the bill would require public schools and college sports teams to admit athletes based on biological sex, not gender identity.

“It is the intent of the Legislature to maintain opportunities for female athletes to demonstrate their skill, strength, and athletic abilities while also providing them with opportunities to obtain recognition and accolades, college scholarships, and the numerous other long-term benefits that result from success in athletic endeavors and to promote sex equality by requiring the designation of separate sex-specific athletic teams or sports,” HB 1475, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, states. Florida Sues The CDC, Biden Administration

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday the state is “fighting back” against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, filing a lawsuit to allow cruise ships to start sailing again.

“We don’t believe the federal government has the right to mothball a major industry for over a year based on very little evidence and very little data,” Gov. DeSantis said. “I think we have a good chance for success.”

In addition to the CDC, the lawsuit is also against the Biden administration and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, state Attorney General Ashley Moody said at a press conference.

WATCH: Florida Spring Breaker Flees Patrol Car in Handcuffs as Revelers Cheer Him On

A Florida spring breaker was seen on video leaping out of a police car and running through a crowded beach in Clearwater as fellow revelers cheered him on.

The 18-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, and escaping after a bystander opened the back door of a patrol car, and he made a run for it while in shackles, according to an arrest form obtained by the Washington Examiner.

He was initially cuffed after law enforcement observed him fighting with another person in the sand, and both suspects had each other in headlocks, police said.

The escape happened as dozens of partygoers rallied behind him and followed the 18-year-old down the beach, video of the incident posted to TikTok showed.

Report: Decorated Police Officer Dies After Intentionally Veering in Front of Out-of-Control Driver — to Protect Others

A Tampa police officer is dead after he intentionally veered into the path of what appeared to be an out-of-control driver, according to reports.

Witnesses say that the officer, Master Patrol Officer Jesse Madsen, swerved into the path of a motorist who was erratically driving southbound down the northbound lanes of I-275 on Tuesday, WFLA-TV reported. . .

Investigators say that Madsen — who won seven life-saving awards during his career as an officer of the law — intentionally swerved into the path of an oncoming vehicle in order to protect other motorists from imminent danger.

The driver of the other vehicle, 25-year-old Joshua Daniel Montague of Golden, Colorado, died as a result of the crash. It remains unknown at the time of this reporting why Montague was traveling southbound at a “high rate of speed” and “swerving through the lanes” of the interstate’s northbound side.

According to Fox News, Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan called Madsen a “guardian of this city” who will “never be forgotten.” (Read more from “Report: Decorated Police Officer Dies After Intentionally Veering in Front of Out-of-Control Driver — to Protect Others” HERE)

Insanity: Airline Reportedly Kicks off Family Due To Maskless Baby (VIDEO)

Frontier Airlines said they cancelled a flight from Florida on Sunday after a “large group” of passengers refused to wear masks — but the family involved claims they were booted simply because of a maskless baby.

The fracas took place aboard flight 2878, which was set to depart Miami en route to LaGuardia Airport at 7 p.m. until the disagreement forced all passengers to deplane and reschedule a flight for the next morning. . .

However, fellow passenger Hershey Greenbaum told The Post the child seemed to be the reason for the family’s removal.

“We were all on the plane when they [flight attendants] came on and saw the 18-month-old baby without a mask,” Greenbaum said.

In video footage of the incident, the father can be seen explaining that the child was under the age of two. (Read more from “Insanity: Airline Reportedly Kicks off Family Due To Maskless Baby (VIDEO)” HERE)

Top Biden COVID Adviser Wrong About Spiking COVID-19 Numbers (Again)

President Joe Biden’s top COVID-19 adviser wrongly predicted that Florida would experience a large, “house on fire” virus outbreak unrivaled by states with lockdown restrictions due to Gov. Ron DeSantis’s reopening orders.

“Florida is ripe for another large outbreak,” Dr. Michael Osterholm told CNN’s Jake Tapper in October. “What they’ve done is opened up everything as if nothing had ever happened there. And you and I could be talking probably in eight to 10 weeks and I will likely bet that Florida will be a house on fire.”

Osterholm also ragged on North Dakota and South Dakota for maintaining anti-lockdown and mask policies that he labeled as political decisions motivated by “pseudoscience.” Despite Osterholm’s previously failed projections and his drastic vacillations on COVID mitigation strategies, Tapper praised the adviser for “being right the whole time” about COVID-19.

“I wish that at one point you had been wrong in any of the things that you’ve projected and predicted, but you’ve been right the whole time and it just must be maddening,” Tapper said, shaking his head.

Osterholm made a similar mistake in November when he wrongly predicted that hospitals would be “collapsing” by early December. (Read more from “Top Biden COVID Adviser Wrong About Spiking COVID-19 Numbers (Again)” HERE)

Man Avoids Charges in Fatal Shooting Due to Stand Your Ground Law

A Miami Beach car wash customer will not face charges for fatally shooting a thief trying to make off with a Mercedes — despite a new video showing the SUV turning away from the man — because of Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law, reports say.

The fatal shooting happened in December 2018, when Stephen Allen Lott fired two shots at Jose Antonio Reyes Bermudez, who was boosting Lott’s boss’ Mercedes, according to the Miami Herald.

Lott had seen Reyes Bermudez jump into the luxury vehicle, ran out of the waiting area and shouted for the thief to stop, Local 10 reports.

New surveillance video shows the SUV turning away from Lott as Reyes Bermudez tried to pull out of the South Beach Finest Hand Car Wash at 1229 18th St., the report says. (Read more from “Man Avoids Charges in Fatal Shooting Due to Stand Your Ground Law” HERE)
