Highland Park Attack Occurred Despite Red Flag Law, Other Stringent Gun Controls

By Breitbart. A red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, licensing requirements, and numerous other gun controls did not prevent the July 4, 2022, Highland Park attack.

Mike Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety lists Illinois as the state with the sixth most stringent gun laws in the country.

Moreover, Gabby Giffords gun control group gives Illinois a grade of A- on gun control.

Illinois has a red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, gun owner licensing, domestic violence gun laws, “open carry regulations,” and numerous other gun controls. . .

Cook County has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “high-capacity” magazines. In neighboring Lake County, the City of Highland Park has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “large-capacity” magazines. Joe Biden Trashes America on Independence Day

President Joe Biden celebrated Independence Day on Monday, but expressed disappointment about ongoing gun violence and the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Liberty is under assault, both here and abroad,” he said, alluding to the Supreme Court. “In recent days, there’s been reason to think this country is moving backward, that freedom is being reduced, that rights we assumed were protected are no longer.”

The president delivered a speech to the American people from the White House as part of a barbecue with military service members.

He revisited his presidential campaign slogan, noting the country is still in an “ongoing battle for the soul of America.”

“I know it can be exhausting and unsettling, but tonight, I want you to know we’re going to get through all of this,” he said, referring to the political divisions in the country. (Read more from “Joe Biden Trashes America on Independence Day” HERE)

States See Spike in Gas Tax Heading Into July 4th Weekend

Ahead of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend, several states have imposed an increase in state gas taxes.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, gas prices in the U.S. have continued to rise with the national average currently set at $4.842, according to data from AAA. In comparison, on the same day last year, the national average gas price was listed at $3.123.

Several states, such as Indiana, South Carolina, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia and California have increased their state gas tax effective Friday, July 1.

The increase in state gas tax across these different areas comes ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, where millions of Americans are expected to travel via car. AAA recently estimated that 47.9 million people will travel via car over the upcoming holiday weekend, driving at least 50 miles. It’s not just gas that’s increasing though. Some of your favorite July 4 foods have increased prices, too. (Read more from “States See Spike in Gas Tax Heading Into July 4th Weekend” HERE)

Nearly 200 Die over July 4 Weekend Due to Skyrocketing Crime

Gun violence over the Fourth of July weekend resulted in 184 people killed and 464 injured across the United States, according to data from Gun Violence Archive.

The data shows injuries and homicides caused by gun violence during a 72-hour period, from the evening of Friday, July 2 to the evening of Monday, July 5, according to Gun Violence Archive data.

In Chicago, 13 people were killed and 64 people were injured, data from the Gun Violence Archives shows. The most shooting attempts occurred in Chicago – 51 of the 490 incidents.

In Baltimore, three people died and six people were injured, while in New York, seven people died and 40 people were injured due to gun violence. . .

Declining morale among police officers and a dramatic plummet in recruitment have left law enforcement agencies across the country under-staffed and unable to keep up with the rise in violence. Officers leaving the force most often cite anti-police sentiment and political turmoil as the reason for their resignations. City Holds Juneteenth and Gay Pride Celebrations After Canceling July Fourth Celebration

An Illinois town is holding Juneteenth and gay pride celebrations despite canceling its Fourth of July festivities.

“My home town of Evanston, Illinois is having a Juneteenth Parade and a Gay Pride Parade, but is cancelling the 4th of July Parade & Fireworks,” said RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan on Twitter.

The city commemorated Juneteenth after President Joe Biden signed a bill making it a federal holiday last week, holding a parade and musical performances at a local park. The city also has a gay pride parade planned for later this month.

The celebrations come after Evanston canceled this year’s Fourth of July celebration over COVID-19 concerns. (Read more from “City Holds Juneteenth and Gay Pride Celebrations After Canceling July Fourth Celebration” HERE)

POTUS Announces Major Plans for Fourth of July

President Trump has some major plans to celebrate American independence this year. He’ll be holding a celebration called “A Saulte To America” at the Lincoln Memorial, 45 revealed on Twitter Sunday morning.

The last time Trump was celebrating at the Lincoln Memorial, he had just been elected president. “The Make America Great Again Welcome Concert” featured performances by the likes of Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, and 3 Doors Down, not to mention thousands of supporters. . .

PBS always hosts a major concert on July 4 as well on Capitol Hill, and they’re usually able to score some major talent. Will the two venues be clashing/competing?

Educational Freedom for Our Warriors in the Land of the Free

When our Founding Fathers drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Continental Congress adopted it on July 4th, 1776, they declared themselves a nation built on the principles of human freedom and limited, representative government. For years, they fought the British and gave their lives to confirm this independence.

Now, 241 years later, our military families continue to give their lives to secure our freedom. As we celebrate this Independence Day and thank the men and women of our armed services, let’s also consider ways we can improve freedom and opportunity for our military families as they serve.

All military members volunteer to deploy into harm’s way. For a service member preparing for deployment or already deployed far from home, the education options available to their children can be a point of great concern. The schooling options available to military-connected children can play a role in whether a family accepts an assignment, even factoring into decisions to leave military service altogether.

According to a recent survey conducted and published by the Military Times, 35 percent of respondents said that dissatisfaction with their child’s education was a “significant factor” in their decision to remain in or leave military service.

In fact, the Pentagon’s changes to policy in 2016 enabling families to remain at duty stations for longer time periods was a direct response “to complaints by military parents who are loathe to move if the next duty station has poorly performing schools.”

These complaints may often stem from the fact that military-connected children are assigned to the district schools closest in proximity to military bases, regardless of whether those district schools are right for them.

As important as education is to military parents, more than half of all active-duty military families live in states with no school choice options at all.

What if, instead of assigning children of active duty military families to district schools closest to where they live, we offered military families a chance to access the federal dollars being spent on their children directly? The 1.3 billion dollar Impact Aid program supports the education of military-connected children by sending money to local district schools.

Imagine if instead a military family could access a portion of those funds through an account with their name on it. Active duty military families would have access to a parent-controlled education savings account, populated with the federal funds that would have been spent on their child in the public system, which could be used for private school tuition, online learning, special education services and therapies, private tutors, textbooks, curricula, and any other education-related services of their choice.

Educations savings accounts give valuable freedom to parents to choose the education that works best for their child. Across the U.S., six states have established educations savings account options: Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Nevada, and most recently, North Carolina.

Like their civilian-family counterparts, children of military families deserve choices in education.

Modernizing the Impact Aid program by transitioning funding into parent-controlled education savings accounts would provide children of active-duty military families with education choice, while ensuring the federal program serves military families as well as they serve us.

When our Founding Fathers drafted the Constitution, they made national defense a paramount responsibility of the new federal government. As we celebrate the birth of our great nation, let’s strengthen our national defense by supporting military families with educational freedom. Guess Who Obama Left out of His Fourth of July Speech?

By Michael Dorstewitz. President Obama’s Fourth of July address was lacking one important element — especially on the occasion of America’s birthday.

It missed the part at the very end, when most presidents — including the current one — say something like “May God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.”

In fact, he didn’t mention God at all.

Instead, he said, “Thanks, everybody. From my family to yours, have a safe and happy Fourth of July.”

He may as well have said, “Tell all your friends you love Obamacare.” (Read more from “Guess Who Obama Left out of His Fourth of July Speech?” HERE)

Not Everyone Likes the Fourth of July-Themed Al Jazeera Video That Does This

By Sharona Schwartz. Al Jazeera’s digital media platform AJ+ posted a Fourth of July-themed video mocking Americans as fat, cheese-eating, gun-toting, pill-popping, racist porn watchers.

While some on social media applauded the creation, others slammed the Qatar-owned network for using the holiday “to dump” on America.

Social media users got particularly riled up by the criticism coming from the channel owned by Qatar — a country where stoning is a legal punishment under Shariah law, women have second class legal status, writers can be imprisoned for criticizing the emir and abuse of foreign laborers has been repeatedly criticized by human rights groups.

The video is sarcastically titled “Americans Show Why USA Is The #1 Country In The World.”

After lauding the U.S. as world leader in Olympic medals, Nobel laureates and billionaires, young actors then go on to mock the U.S. for “the most incarcerated people in the world. God-bless the prison industrial complex.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Happy Fourth of July, God Bless the USA! [+videos]

Each Fourth of July and throughout the year, Americans express their support for the freedoms they enjoy and for the unlimited opportunities they have to improve their station in life because of The Free Enterprise System. The Fourth of July is also an opportunity for each Patriotic American to celebrate a second birthday.

Countless generations of Americans fought for and under the American Flag. The American Flag symbolizes the unity of the American people, is flown on national holidays, and symbolizes the principles upon which the Founding Fathers established the Republic, in signing the Declaration of Independence 239 years ago.

On the Fourth and every day, Americans continue to demonstrate their support for Military Veterans, members of the US Armed Forces who swore to protect and defend the US Constitution, and proudly served in the defense of the Republic, under the American Flag.

At one point in their lives, Americans who served in the US Armed Forces, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including their lives.” The courage demonstrated by Combat Veterans who served in the defense of the Republic, can be appropriately described by a quote, made in 352 BC, by King Philip of Macedonia: “Here is courage, mankind’s finest possession. Here is the noblest prize.”

High Alerts have been issued by US Intelligence Agencies because of threats of attacks by ISIS terrorists on the United States during Fourth of July celebrations. We encourage all Americans to respond to those threats by flying the American Flag on the Fourth of July weekend, and by continuing to join with their fellow Americans to celebrate the Fourth of July in the same way they have done so in the past.
