SIGN OF THE TIMES: Gas Station Owner’s Display Goes Viral as Prices Hit Record Highs

The owner of a gas station in Minnesota wants customers to know he is also frustrated with the country’s record-high prices.

“We hate our gas prices too,” read a sign posted outside a Marathon gas station in St. Paul, WCCO-TV reported.

Chuck Graff, the owner, told the outlet he wanted customers to know they were not the only ones feeling the “pain at the pump” as the national average gas price recently topped $5 per gallon for the first time.

While still below the national average, the price of gas in Minnesota has seen a new record-high for 11 days in a row and now sits at $4.76, the highest ever recorded average price for the state, according to the AAA motorist group.

Last year, a gallon of regular gas in Minnesota cost under $2.90, per the report. (Read more from “Sign of the Times: Gas Station Owner’s Display Goes Viral as Prices Hit Record Highs” HERE)

Europe’s Gas Prices Are Even Higher Than America’s

Many Americans find themselves bending over backward to afford prices at the pump quickly approaching $5 per gallon. In Europe, however, fuel costs are much higher.

Due to the conflict in Ukraine, Russia — the world’s third-largest producer of energy as of 2019 — has cut off natural gas supplies to many European nations. Meanwhile, sanctions against Russia have also severed many Europeans from a major source of gasoline.

As a result, gas prices in leading European economies are significantly higher than in the United States. Citizens of Germany, for example, are purchasing gas at $7.89 per gallon as of June 6. In the United Kingdom, Spain, and France, prices at the pump are $8.32, $8.40, and $8.57, respectively. Prices are especially high in Scandinavia — $9.33 in Sweden, $10.13 in Finland, $10.32 in Denmark, and $10.82 in Norway.

British Conservative Alliance head of research Connor Tomlinson told The Daily Wire that America’s “fall from grace as a leading exporter” prompted Britain to rely upon Russia and other hostile powers. (Read more from “Europe’s Gas Prices Are Even Higher Than America’s” HERE)

It Begins: Gas Prices Hit $5 National Average

Gas prices on Thursday soared to a national average of $5.00 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

The $5.00 per gallon mark has never been reached before and represents a twelve consecutive record-day high.

In all 50 states on Thursday, the average price of a gallon of gas reached above $4.40, according to AAA data.

In California, gas prices on Thursday reached $6.40 per gallon. JPMorgan commodities analyst predicted gas prices may increase to more than $6.00 per gallon before Labor Day. (Read more from “It Begins: Gas Prices Hit $5 National Average” HERE)

WATCH: Wealthy Democrat Senator Brags About How Gas Prices Don’t Affect Her; As Gas Prices Break Records, World Bank Warns of 1970S-style ‘Stagflation’

By Townhall. During Tuesday’s Senate Finance Committee hearing to discuss “The President’s Fiscal Year 2023 Budget,” Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) displayed just how tone-deaf she is on gas prices affecting her constituents when she bragged about driving an electric car. When it comes to the price at the pump, Sen. Stabenow said, “It didn’t matter how high [the price] was.”

“After waiting a long time to finally have enough chips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle, I got it and drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend and went by every single gas station, and it didn’t matter how high it was,” Sen. Stabenow said about gas prices. “And so I’m looking forward to the opportunity for us to move to vehicles that aren’t going to be dependent on the whims of the oil companies and the international markets,” she continued.

Our friends at Twitchy highlighted some of the best responses to Stabenow’s remarks.

AAA’s map of gas prices shows that Michigan is facing some of the highest gas prices in the country, with the average price of gas in the state costing $5.171 a gallon. (Read more from “Wealthy Democrat Senator Brags About How Gas Prices Don’t Affect Her” HERE)

As Gas Prices Break Records, World Bank Warns of 1970S-style ‘Stagflation’

By Newsweek. As U.S. gas prices reached an all-time high, the World Bank issued a warning that a combination of rising inflation and a slowdown in economic growth could lead the global economy into 1970s-style “stagflation.”

The price of gas in the U.S. hit $4.91 per gallon on Tuesday, according to AAA. On the same day, the World Bank issued its latest Global Economic Prospects report—which compared current economic conditions around the world with those during the “stagflation of the 1970s,” spelling potentially bad news for the global economy due to issues including fiscal damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The war in Ukraine, lockdowns in China, supply-chain disruptions, and the risk of stagflation are hammering growth,” World Bank President David Malpass said in a statement. “For many countries, recession will be hard to avoid. Markets look forward, so it is urgent to encourage production and avoid trade restrictions. Changes in fiscal, monetary, climate and debt policy are needed to counter capital misallocation and inequality.”

However, it was also noted that the current economy differs from that of the 1970s in several important areas, including the U.S. dollar currently being strong, smaller percentage increases in commodity prices, strong “balance sheets of major financial institutions” and better controls on price stability through central banks and a track record of meeting inflation targets. Gas Has Nearly Reached an Incredible $10 a Gallon

New Yorkers paying five bucks a gallon for gasoline may think things can’t get much worse — but in one California town people are shelling out nearly double that for a fill-up

A Chevron station in the coastal village of Mendocino about 175 miles north of San Francisco was charging $9.60 a gallon for regular on Friday afternoon.

That’s more than $3 a gallon above the state average of $6.30, and $4.78 higher than the national average of $4.82, according to AAA.

But individual stations throughout the country are charging more than the average, including one LA station that topped $8 on Friday.

Prices have also surged in New York, where the statewide average has hit $4.851, according to AAA – with the average in all boroughs except Staten Island topping $5 Saturday morning. (Read more from “Gas Has Nearly Reached an Incredible $10 a Gallon” HERE)

These States Had the Most Expensive Gas Over Memorial Day Weekend

As the national average for gasoline rose to a new record high of $4.62 a gallon on Memorial Day, prices varied throughout the country affecting drivers on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

According to AAA, gas prices went up one penny since Sunday and gasoline is now 44 cents more expensive than it was just last month, CNN reported. On Memorial Day of 2021, gas prices averaged $3.05 a gallon, according to AAA. The Biden administration has continued to face criticism over the record-breaking gas prices and has been blaming the increase in price on the war in Ukraine. . .

Alaska: $5.20 a gallon

California: $6.15 a gallon

Hawaii: $5.44 a gallon

Every Time Biden Drained Our Strategic Oil Reserves, Prices Ended Up Higher. Here’s the Proof

Oil and gasoline prices increased after each of President Joe Biden’s three Strategic Petroleum Reserve releases which were designed to curb consumer costs.

Biden ordered a 50-million-barrel SPR release in November, a 30-million-barrel release on March 1 and a 180-million-barrel release on March 31, saying the “historic” actions would ease pressure felt by Americans at the pump. But marketplace and government data analyzed by The Daily Caller News Foundation paint a different picture.

On Tuesday, the average price of gasoline reached an all-time high of $4.59 per gallon, according to AAA data, while domestic oil prices remained above $110 a barrel, far higher than their 2015-2021 average of $53.15 per barrel and 2021 average of $68.14 a barrel, Federal Reserve data showed. This State Is Bracing for $10 a Gallon Gas

By Breitbart. Gas stations throughout Washington are reprogramming their gas pumps to allow for double-digit prices as some in the area are running out of gas, according to a recent report.

One 76 Gas Station in Auburn, Washington, reprogrammed its gas pumps to “make room” for gas upwards of $10 a gallon, according to The Post Millennial. The move comes as gas prices continue to set record highs. On Thursday, national gas prices hit a record high for the tenth day in a row at $4.58 per gallon, according to AAA. This is more than $1.50 higher than the average price one year ago today, which was $3.04 per gallon.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Wednesday that Biden “understands what the American people is going through,” as gas sets record highs, but many blame President Joe Biden for the drastic increase in prices.

American Petroleum Institute senior vice president Frank Macchiarola attributes increased gas prices to Biden’s mismanagement of the U.S. oil supply. Macchiarola said:

Unfortunately, this is becoming a pattern — the administration talks about the need for more supply and acts to restrict it. As geopolitical volatility and global energy prices continue to rise, we again urge the administration to end the uncertainty and immediately act on a new five-year program for federal offshore leasing.

House Passes Gasoline Price-Gouging Bill

By The Hill. The House voted Thursday to pass Democrats’ bill aimed at combating “price gouging” on gasoline.

The bill passed 217-207, with no Republicans voting for it and four Democrats voting against it: Reps. Stephanie Murphy (Fla.), Lizzie Fletcher (Texas), Kathleen Rice (N.Y.) and Jared Golden (Maine).

The legislation is unlikely to gain traction in the Senate, where it would need the support of 10 Republicans to advance, but it’s part of a major messaging push by Democrats as they try to blame the oil industry for skyrocketing prices.

Their claims of price gouging have been met with some skepticism from analysts, who have blamed market forces — rather than gouging — for high gasoline prices.

Still, Democrats point to record profits posted by major oil companies as evidence of an issue. (Read more from “House Passes Gasoline Price-Gouging Bill” HERE)

NEW BIDEN RECORD: The Average U.S. Gas Price Just Passed $4.50 per Gallon

Gas prices for diesel and regular unleaded reached new records on Tuesday as they continue an upward trajectory before Memorial Day, hitting unseen highs near daily.

According to AAA’s gas price tracker, the average cost for a gallon of regular is running at $4.52 nationwide, and diesel at $5.57. Gas prices are highest in California, where residents are now paying an average of more than $6 per gallon statewide. Kansas residents are seeing the cheapest gas at $4 per gallon.

The record-breaking prices will soon cause ripple effects across the economy, with spikes in transportation and manufacturing costs being passed onto consumers who are already battling record inflation. According to the Department of Labor, April’s inflation numbers revealed the highest year-over-year increase in four decades, rising 8.3 percent last month compared to the same time last year.

Despite the rising prices upending the nation’s pandemic recovery, President Joe Biden has only doubled down on his anti-American-energy agenda with cancellations of new oil and gas leases to keep domestic production low. Data from the Department of Commerce published in April revealed that the U.S. economy experienced negative GDP growth in the first quarter, potentially marking the first stages of a recession after GDP remained positive since mid-2020. Biden Admin Silent on Major Natural Gas Pipeline as Energy Prices Soar

The Biden administration has yet to take a public position on a major natural gas pipeline as the project faces an uphill federal permitting battle.

Equitrans Midstream, the energy company that proposed the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) in 2014, delayed the project’s expected completion to late 2023 and said it would pursue new federal permits for a second time, in an earnings report published Tuesday. The project — a 303-mile pipeline that would transport natural gas from West Virginia to Virginia — faced another setback earlier this year after a federal appeals court struck down its Trump-era permits, ruling in favor of environmental groups.

Federal agencies involved in the MVP permitting process didn’t respond to requests for comment or declined to comment altogether, and the White House has yet to intervene in the matter despite soaring energy prices and pleas from a Democratic senator.

“After engaging with the federal agencies and evaluating all options, we believe the best path forward for MVP’s completion is to pursue new permits,” Thomas Karam, the chairman and CEO of Equitrans, said in a statement Tuesday. “To reflect the time required for permit re-issuance and to ensure safe, responsible project construction, we have revised our MVP in-service target to the second half of 2023.”

The total project cost of the pipeline has increased to $6.6 billion, the company added in its earnings report. The MVP pipeline was originally projected to begin operations in 2018 and the total cost has doubled since the project was unveiled, Bloomberg reported.
