A federal judge in West Virginia has ruled that a federal ban on possessing a gun with its serial number removed is unconstitutional, the first such ruling since the U.S. Supreme Court dramatically expanded gun rights in June.
U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston on Wednesday found that the law was not consistent with the United States’ “historical tradition of firearm regulation,” the new standard laid out by the Supreme Court in its landmark ruling.
The decision came in a criminal case charging a man, Randy Price, with illegally possessing a gun with the serial number removed that was found in his car. The judge dismissed that charge, though Price is still charged with illegally possessing the gun after being convicted of previous felonies.
Price’s lawyer, Lex Coleman, called the decision “thoughtful, measured and accurate.” A spokesperson for the office of U.S. Attorney William Thompson in Charleston, which is prosecuting the case, said the office was “reviewing the ruling and assessing options.” (Read more from “Ban on Guns With Serial Numbers Removed Is Unconstitutional” HERE)

A man going by the pseudonym “Kem” showed just how useless some of New York state’s efforts to address gun violence truly are when he walked away from a buyback event $21,000 richer.
When he heard about people printing ghost guns to make money from buyback programs, he put his $200 3D printer to work. Six hours away in Utica, New York, the State Attorney General’s Office was holding a buyback event at the police department, and Kem brought 110 ghost guns with him.
It took an entire day of negotiating with the AG’s office staff, but in the end, he walked away with 42 $500 gift cards.
“I’m sure handing over $21,000 in gift cards to some punk kid after getting a bunch of plastic junk was a rousing success,” laughed Kem. “Gun buybacks are a fantastic way of showing, No. 1, that your policies don’t work, and, No. 2, you’re creating perverse demand. You’re causing people to show up to these events and they don’t actually reduce crime whatsoever.” (Read more from “NY Gun Buyback Program Backfires Spectacularly” HERE)

On Tuesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) called out three major credit card companies over their decision to separate gun-related purchases from other transactions made with their payment cards.
To recap, the Associated Press reported this week that Visa said on Saturday that it will start separately categorizing sales made on their payment methods at gun shops. The report described this as a “major win” for those in favor of gun control, claiming it will “help better track suspicious surges of gun sales that could be a prelude to a mass shooting.” Mastercard and American Express said they would categorize these types of sales as well.
Townhall site Bearing Arms noted that this came after New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) urged credit card companies to “do their part” to stop gun violence.
Everyone needs to do their part to combat gun violence. @AmericanExpress, @Mastercard & @Visa should categorize firearm purchases & flag suspicious activity – just like they do for millions of other transactions.
Together we can help stop gun trafficking & keep New Yorkers safe.
Bearing Arms also noted that the CEO of Amalgamated Bank claims this move by credit card companies “answers the call of millions.”

Gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson ripped politicians for demonizing guns and lawful gun owners to cover for failed policies that have led to surging crime rates.
Company president and CEO Mark Smith released a 440-word statement Monday castigating “politicians and their lobbying partners in the media.” Smith accused the cabal of using his company and other gun manufacturers as scapegoats for a “crisis of violence” that has rocked the United States.
“Some have had the audacity to suggest that after they have vilified, undermined and defunded law enforcement for years, supported prosecutors who refuse to hold criminals accountable for their actions, overseen the decay of our country’s mental health infrastructure, and generally promoted a culture of lawlessness, Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers are somehow responsible for the crime wave that has predictably resulted from these destructive policies,” Smith said. “But they are the ones to blame for the surge in violence and lawlessness, and they seek to avoid any responsibility for the crisis of violence they have created by attempting to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson, other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding gun owners.”
“It is no surprise that the cities suffering most from violent crime are the very same cities that have promoted irresponsible, soft-on-crime policies that often treat criminals as victims and victims as criminals,” he continued, noting that often those cities have strict gun control policies. Most likely voters say it is “absolutely” necessary for a candidate to share their views on a variety of issues — including guns and abortion — in order to have their support, an Echelon Insights survey released this week found.
The survey asked respondents, “When you are deciding how to vote, how important is it that a candidate share your views on each of the following issues?”
The survey listed twelve specific topics, including education policy, climate change, abortion, immigration, and guns.
Most voters said it is “absolutely” necessary that a candidate shares their views on topics such as guns (62 percent) and abortion (54 percent). Sixty percent said it is “absolutely” necessary that a candidate shares a voter’s view on healthcare, and 56 percent said the same of taxes. Another 56 percent said the same of national security and the military, 54 percent said the same of government spending, and 51 percent said the same of immigration policy. More Americans trust a good Samaritan armed with a gun to stop a mass shooting than police officers or federal agents, according to a Convention of States Action and Trafalgar Group survey of Americans.
The new survey found that the more Americans believe that their best protection in a mass shooting situation is a nearby armed civilian, rather than police officers or federal agents. Respondents chose armed citizens as the best protection by 41.8% to 25.1% for local police and 10.3% for federal agents. About a fifth people chose none of the above – 22.8%.
Democrats and Republicans differed widely on who each believed best able to protect them during a mass shooting. A plurality of Democrats, 33.9%, picked none of the above. Local police came in second with 31.4%.
Republicans, on the other hand, trusted an armed civilian far more than local police or federal agents. Of the GOP respondents, 70.4% said they trusted an armed civilian most to protect them and their families. Just 1.6% of GOP respondents said that federal agents were in the best spot to protect them.
The pollster surveyed 1,078 likely general election voters from July 7-10, with a margin of error of 2.9%. (Read more from “Poll: Americans Trust Armed Civilians More Than Police, Feds in Mass Shootings” HERE)

The same left-wing prosecutors who let rioting run rampant and let repeat offenders out on low bail also want to make it difficult for you to defend yourself.
We don’t yet know all the details about an apparent fatal stabbing of an agitated man by bodega clerk Jose Alba in New York City last week, but we do know that the clerk was quickly charged with murder and initially held at Rikers Island on $250,000 bail while video surveillance seems to indicate he likely acted in self-defense. Surveillance videos show the unnamed girlfriend of Austin Simon, the man Alba killed who had a history of felony arrests and was out on parole, becoming upset with Alba when her card was declined and threatening to “bring my n– down here and he gonna f-ck you up.”
Another video shows Simon walking behind the counter to Alba, shoving him, and getting in his face before Alba stood up and appeared to try to walk past Simon, at which point the two wrestled until Alba eventually stabbed the other man. “I don’t want a problem,” Alba told Simon when he walked in, according to the New York Post. Further footage appears to show the girlfriend pulling out a knife of her own and slashing Alba, although she has not been charged.
After outrage over Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision to charge Alba, who has no prior criminal record, with murder, and his pursuit of such a high bail while Alba languished at Rikers, the bail amount was reduced — but the charges have so far not been dropped. In the meantime, GoFundMe deleted a fundraising page for Alba’s defense, in a move that has become common for the platform when its leaders don’t agree with a cause.
A fearless citizen with the will and means to defend himself is a threat to left-wing bureaucrats who want to boss him around — like they did when they knocked on doors sniffing out “unauthorized” religious services and gatherings during Covid lockdowns, or when they allowed lawless riots to hold cities hostage during the summer of 2020. Bragg’s decision to crack down on what appears to at least potentially be a strong case of self-defense may not have been an intentional ploy to criminalize self-protective autonomy, but it does follow a long string of actions and attitudes on the left that are hostile to the idea of a law-abiding citizen using a lethal weapon to protect himself and his property. A gun control advocate interrupted President Joe Biden’s Monday remarks commemorating the passage of the bipartisan Safer Community Act.
Manuel Oliver, the father of Parkland victim Joaquin Oliver, stood up during the South Lawn ceremony and loudly objected to Biden’s claim that the bipartisan gun violence bill “matched thoughts and prayers with action.”
Oliver additionally voiced his displeasure ahead of the White House’s event. . .
The word CELEBRATION has no space in a society that saw 19 kids massacred just a month ago. “Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” Not me, not Joaquin. @ChangeTheRef
Oliver was quickly escorted out of the event, but not before the president told him to “sit down” and “hear what I have to say.”
Parkland father Manuel Oliver @manueloliver00 stood up and urged @POTUS to do more and open a White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and appoint a Gun Czar.
He and other survivors are hosting a 2pm presser on PA Ave in front of WH demanding Biden *act* https://t.co/sP0gIeL2F7

By Breitbart. Eyewitnesses described Friday’s assassination of Japan’s former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo as a scene of utter chaos, saying onlookers of the attack fainted in shock as pieces of plastic debris flew off of the still-unidentified weapon used to kill him.
Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, died on Friday in the city of Nara after a man now identified as 41-year-old Yamagami Tetsuya shot him with what Japanese media indicate at press time appeared to be a homemade firearm. Doctors reported that Abe suffered cardiac arrest as a result of wounds in his neck. He was 67 years old.
Abe, of the long-ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), left a legacy of advocating for Japan to take on a larger international role, including expanding its minimal defense capabilities and investing in a closer relationship with America.
Shortly before his death, Abe spent much of his public time following his resignation in 2020 warning that world must act to contain the threat of Chinese communism and urging America to expand its support for the nation of Taiwan, which China routinely threatens to invade. Chinese media outlets threatened “routine” military exercises around Japan as recently as Wednesday in response to the LDP’s concerns about Beijing’s belligerence.
Police have yet to reveal a motive for the shooting at press time, though Japanese newspapers report that Yamagami told police he intended to kill Abe because he was “dissatisfied” with his political performance. Some reports indicate that Yamagami also gave police other unrelated information, such as a claim that he wanted to kill an unnamed “religious” leader, instead of or in addition to Abe.

Japan: One of World’s Most Gun-Controlled Countries Bans ‘Assault Weapons,’ Handguns, and Private Gun Sales
By Breitbart. Japan has some of the most “restrictive” gun controls in the world – legal provisions that appeared not to prevent the assassination of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo at the hands of an apparent lone gunman on Friday. . .
Japan has some of the most stringent gun controls in the world.
The University of Sydney’s gunpolicy.org labels Japan’s gun controls as “restrictive” and notes they include an handgun ban, an “assault weapons” ban, and a ban on private gun sales.
Certain rifles and shotguns are the only guns that the Japanese people are allowed to own, but the process to legally obtain one of those is arduous. For example, a would-be rifle or shotgun owner must first acquire a gun owner’s license and that process includes passage of a criminal and mental health background check, including third-party character references.
Moreover, the would-be gun owner’s family history is searched to ensure no proclivity to violence. (Read more from “Japan: One of World’s Most Gun-Controlled Countries Bans ‘Assault Weapons,’ Handguns, and Private Gun Sales” HERE)

Denmark has some of the most stringent gun controls in the world, yet numerous people were shot and some killed Sunday at the Field’s shopping mall in Copenhagen.
Danish police confirmed multiple people were shot at the mall and that “several” have been killed, Breitbart News reported.
Police inspector Søren Thomassen said, “We know that there are several dead…[and] several injured,” according to the Associated Press.
The University of Sydney’s GunPolicy.org categorizes Denmark’s gun control as “restrictive,” and they note that “the right to gun ownership is not guaranteed by law.”
Moreover, Denmark requires would-be gun owners to first get a license from the government. Only licensed individuals may own or transfer a gun and ammunition. Also, even with a license individuals can only purchase ammunition that matches the firearm(s) they own.
