U.S. Mayor Refuses to Cooperate With ICE

By IJR. Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced on Thursday that her city would permanently end its cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) requests to detain people. . .

“We will not be complicit in an immigration policy that intentionally inflicts misery on vulnerable populations,” she said, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Bottoms said she would transfer the remaining ICE detainees from her city’s detention center as part of an executive order she signed that day. Only five ICE detainees remained after Bottoms signed an executive order months earlier that blocked new ones from entering her city’s jail.

Assaults on ICE, Border Patrol Surge as Illegal Aliens Get More Violent

By Washington Times. Assaults on ICE agents reached a decade high in 2017, and assaults on Border Patrol agents have also surged in recent years, according to new government numbers that seem to back up agents’ claims that illegal immigrants are increasingly looking to fight rather than flee.

The new numbers, reported by Homeland Security’s inspector general, could even be underselling the problem, investigators said, because the government doesn’t do a good job of tracking incidents, and agents and officers don’t always report them properly.

But the report does signal renewed danger particularly on the southwest border, where agents say a surge in illegal immigration in recent years generally correlates with growing violence.

Prosecutors, meanwhile, often refuse to bring charges or win cases against the perpetrators, the audit found.

At the border, the most frequent method of attack was projectiles — usually large rocks — which accounted for half of assaults. But bombs, clubs, knives, guns and even laser pointers to blind agents have all been used. (Read more from “Assaults on ICE, Border Patrol Surge as Illegal Aliens Get More Violent” HERE)

ICE Lays Down the Law and Arrests 364 — Convictions Included Attempted Murder, Child Sexual Exploitation

Earlier this week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced another massive enforcement operation resulting in hundreds of immigrant arrests.

The 30-day operation took place in several midwestern states and rounded up immigrants who had prior criminal convictions. Those convictions included child sexual exploitation, rape, attempted murder, assault, burglary, and drug trafficking.

Although the arrested immigrants came from as far away as Saudi Arabia, the vast majority came from Mexico (236) and South America. ICE said it arrested 97 immigrants who illegally re-entered the United States after deportation.

In a statement, ICE’s field office director for Chicago praised the agency’s work. “Operations like this reflect the vital work our ERO officers do every day to protect our communities, uphold public safety and protect the integrity of our immigration laws,” director, Ricardo Wong, said.

“We will continue to devote the full efforts of our agency to protecting citizens and enforcing federal immigration law. Communities are safer today because of the hard work done by the men and women of ERO.” (Read more from “ICE Lays Down the Law and Arrests 364 — Convictions Included Attempted Murder, Child Sexual Exploitation” HERE)

Mother Alleges That ICE Is Responsible for Her Toddler’s Death

Jazmin Juarez, 20, and her 18-month-old daughter, Mariee, came to the U.S. from Guatemala via the Rio Grande in March. They were detained by ICE and placed in the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas. Mariee soon developed a respiratory infection which “went woefully under-treated for nearly a month,” according to Juarez’s lawyers. Facility workers reportedly gave her Tylenol to alleviate her symptoms, but it did not help. The toddler died six weeks after the family’s release.

“A mother lost her little girl because ICE and those running the Dilley immigration prison failed them inexcusably,” the lawyers told CNN. “We are working with Yazmin and her family to obtain justice for the failures by ICE and others, and to ensure that no other family suffers such a needless and devastating loss.”

They provided a timeline of Mariee’s deteriorating condition.

But her lawyers say Mariee’s symptoms became worse, losing weight, vomiting as well as developing fever and diarrhea. During their nearly three weeks at the facility, Juarez sought medical attention for Mariee at least five times, according to her attorneys. During her time there, Mariee received various other diagnoses that included acute bronchiolitis and an ear infection.

“After it became clear that Mariee was gravely ill, ICE simply discharged mother and daughter. Yazmin immediately sought medical care for her baby, but it was too late. Mariee died following six agonizing weeks in the hospital after leaving Dilley,” according to her lawyers. (Read more from “Mother Alleges That ICE Is Responsible for Her Toddler’s Death” HERE)

Just How Popular Is the ‘Abolish ICE’ Movement?

A new poll revealed how little support the “Abolish ICE” movement has, even among Democrats, despite the mainstream media attention that the advocates have received. . .

The poll from the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows that even among Democrats only 25 percent support the policy to abolish the department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The “Abolish ICE” movement gathered steam after the media focused on the families affected by the “no tolerance” policy the Trump administration enforced on immigration law. This led to family separations of some immigrants petitioning for amnesty, and also of illegal immigrants. . .

Despite the lack of support for abolishing ICE, a majority of self-described Democrats have an unfavorable view of the agency (57 percent). Among those who describe themselves as liberal, ICE is even less popular, with nearly three fourths reporting an unfavorable view. . .

President Donald Trump has taken up the defense of ICE as part of his political platform. In various speeches and on social media he has decried the vilification of an office he sees as essential to the defense of the nation. (Read more from “Just How Popular Is the ‘Abolish ICE’ Movement?” HERE)

Watch: ICE Official Has to Explain to Democrat Senator That Illegal Aliens Break the Law

By The Daily Wire. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official had to explain to a Democrat senator during a hearing on Tuesday that illegal aliens are illegal aliens because they have broken federal immigration laws.

Matthew T. Albence, Executive Associate Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) at ICE had to inform Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) that illegal aliens face prosecution because they have broken the law. . .

“They have broken a law but only as deemed so by the president with his –” Hirono tried to claim.

“No ma’am,” Albence fired back. “They are there for violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Nationality Act. Okay. U.S.C. 1325. That’s illegal entry is both a criminal and civil violation. They are in those FRCs pending the outcome of that civil immigration process. They have broken the law. ”

ICE Agents Accuse Oregon Mayor of Abetting ‘Abolish ICE’ Protesters

By Fox News. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Monday accused an Oregon mayor of violating the Constitution after emboldening “Abolish ICE” protesters by ordering the police to stand down and openly expressing support for their cause.

The accusations were outlined in a cease-and-desist letter sent to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, saying he actively encouraged the protesters and their cause, while making sure Portland’s police wouldn’t crack down on them, thus creating “a zone of terror and lawlessness,” the Washington Times reported.

“When the mayor gave the order that police would not support ICE employees trapped in the facility, he turned the lives of our employees over to an angry mob,” Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council, the organization that sent the cease-and-desist letter, told the newspaper.

The letter demands Wheeler to make an apology and ensure the city’s police will protect all citizens in need, including those working for a federal agency. A letter advises that the city could be sued if the mayor’s response isn’t adequate.

“The mayor stated publicly that he supported the protests, which were supposed to be about protecting immigrant families. But what about the moms and dads that we had working in that building? What about their kids?” Crane continued. “These are questions that we’ll be expecting the mayor and city of Portland to be answering in the days to come.” (Read more from “ICE Agents Accuse Oregon Mayor of Abetting ‘Abolish ICE’ Protesters” HERE)

Major U.S. City Terminates Contract With ICE

Caving to progressive demands, the city of Philadelphia announced it is ending a major contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement sharing real-time arrest information. . .

The information, contained in Philadelphia’s Preliminary Arraignment Reporting System (PARS), alerts authorities when new arrests are made, and includes arrestee’s full names, countries of origin, and Social Security numbers. While PARS does not indicate immigration status, Democrats charged that ICE nevertheless abused the database to investigate potential immigration violations.

Anyone who interacts with law enforcement is entered into the database, including those who are arrested, victims and witnesses, with some limits on what ICE officers can view. (FoxNews.com)

“I cannot in good conscience allow the agreement to continue,” Democratic Mayor Jim Kenney, who celebrated the city’s sanctuary status last month, told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “We’re not going to provide them with information so they can go out and round people up.” . . .

[I]n a statement to Fox News, ICE officials reiterated that the agency had not breached its agreement with Philadelphia in any way, including by engaging in racial profiling or accessing information without the city’s approval. They added that they were “deeply disappointed” in the city’s decision, saying the city had not pointed to any specific instances of alleged misconduct by ICE.

Police Refused to Help ICE Agents Who Called 911

Portland, Oregon, police refused to respond to at least two 911 emergency calls from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees inside their offices where violent protesters held week-long demonstrations.

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing ICE employees, wrote a cease-and-desist letter to Mayor Ted Wheeler, asking him to ensure the police enforce the law equally and protect innocent people.

“Your current policy forbidding Portland law enforcement agencies from assisting employees of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency who request law enforcement assistance while at or away from work is a violation of the United States Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause,” the letter says.

Demonstrators, some affiliated with the domestic terrorist organization Antifa, set up a city of tents outside the ICE offices. After setting up camp, they became violent and incited violence several times.

“Every person in law enforcement knows there are few things as dangerous or as unpredictable than an angry mob,”said Chris Crane, president of the national union, WWeek reported Monday. “No one could have responded quickly enough to protect our employees who were trapped inside this building. All of this because the Mayor of Portland has a beef with the president of the United States.” (Read more from “Police Refused to Help ICE Agents Who Called 911, Agents Say” HERE)

ICE Protest Leader Arrested as Sick Pedophile History Exposed

By Conservative Tribune. Micah Rhodes, the 24 year old leader of the anti-Trump protest group “Portland’s Resistance,” has been arrested… again.

Earlier this year, according to Oregon Live, Rhodes was convicted “on three counts of second-degree sexual abuse for having illicit sexual contact with a 17-year-old girl in Washington County and a 17-year-old boy in Multnomah County.”

Rhodes was 20 and 21 years old when he committed the sexual abuse in 2014 and 2015.

Rather than follow the state sentencing guidelines and send Rhodes to jail for two to two-and-a-half years, Multonomah County Circuit Judge Jerry Hodson and Washington County Circuit Judge Janelle Wipper decided in separate hearings to order five years of probation for Rhodes instead.

According to Jerry Hodson as reported by Oregon Live, he did not want to send Rhodes to prison because Hodson believed Rhodes was genuinely trying to change. (Read more from “ICE Protest Leader Arrested as Sick Pedophile History Exposed” HERE)

Portland Protest Leader Micah Rhodes Is Arrested, Again

By Oregon Live. Portland protest leader Micah Rhodes is back in jail on allegations that he violated terms of his probation by having contact with minors.

Rhodes, 24, was ordered to stay away from anyone under 18 years old after he was convicted this year on three counts of second-degree sexual abuse for having illicit sexual contact with a 17-year-old girl in Washington County and a 17-year-old boy in Multnomah County. The sexual abuse occurred in 2014 and 2015, and Rhodes was 20 and 21 years old at the time.

Washington County Circuit Judge Janelle Wipper and Multnomah County Circuit Judge Jerry Hodson decided in separate hearings not to sentence Rhodes to two to 2 ½ -years in prison, as state sentencing guidelines recommended. Instead, the judges ordered five years of probation for Rhodes with a long list of conditions, including that he was forbidden from being around children without the prior permission of his probation officer. Watch What Happens to Democrat After Expressing Her Support for ICE

A congressional candidate from Arizona was booed at a debate after she expressed support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Ann Kirkpatrick, a candidate for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, prompted jeers after raising her hand in response to a question about whether any of the debate participants “would have declared [their] support for ICE agents without any increased oversight.” . . .

Waters controversially called for supporters to harass Trump administration officials, saying at a rally, “If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” . . .

Kirkpatrick was the only person on stage to raise her hand in response to both questions. She was also heckled as she tried to answer a question about fear-mongering and mass incarceration. Later in the debate, one heckler appeared to yell, “You should be ashamed of yourself!” at Kirkpatrick.

A number of activists and Democratic politicians have coalesced around calls to abolish ICE in protest of the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) called ICE a “deportation force” and called for its elimination. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) said “we need to rebuild our immigration system from top to bottom starting by replacing ICE with something that reflects our morality and that works.” (Read more from “Watch What Happens to Democrat After Expressing Her Support for ICE” HERE)
