5 Electrocuted in Pool, Including Teen Credited for Saving the Others

Five people were electrocuted in a freak accident at a backyard pool in Indiana Sunday afternoon, including two young girls and a teenage boy who is being hailed as a hero for saving the others, police said.

A married couple, their two kids — a 16-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter — and the girl’s friend were all zapped while taking a dip in the family’s pool as they tried to stay cool on a hot summer day, Logansport police said.

The scary episode began at around 2:30 p.m. when the group felt a “vibration” in the pool, causing the dad to call for someone to shut off the sump pump, Logansport Police Chief Travis Yike told Fox 59.

All five were shocked by the electrified water — to varying degrees — before the sump pump was flipped off. . .

Everyone was rushed to the hospital with various injuries but all are expected to survive in part thanks to the teen son who works as a local lifeguard and reportedly pulled out his injured family members and his sister’s friend from the pool. Million-Dollar Farm Hides Thousands Of Human Bodies, Authorities Say

Authorities continue to uncover chilling revelations at the property of Herb Baumeister, an Indiana businessman implicated in the deaths of at least 25 individuals during the late 1980s and early 1990s, Fox News reported Sunday.

Four decades later, the gruesome legacy of Baumeister’s crime at Fox Hollow Farm in Westfield, Indiana, still emerges as new victims are identified. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of Jeffrey A. Jones, a man reported missing in 1993, as one of Baumeister’s victims.

This identification marks the third in the last six months, alongside Allen Livingston and Manuel Resendez, whose disappearances in the 1990s had remained unresolved until now, according to Fox News. Baumeister, who was a married father of three, secretly targeted mostly gay men and lured them to his 18-acre estate, Fox News reported. He bought the property for $1 million in May 1988, and it later revealed thousands of charred bone fragments and decomposed remains, including those his teenage son chillingly found, sparking the exposure of his double life.

Hamilton County Coroner Jeff Jellison has reinvigorated the ongoing investigation, however he confronts significant challenges due to the condition of the remains — many burnt and crushed. Despite these hurdles, the dedicated team, including law enforcement and forensic experts, persists in the meticulous task of identifying the victims. State Launches Black Inclusivity Training for State Park Workers (VIDEO)

The state of Indiana has launched a $17,500 Black inclusivity training for its state park workers.

The three-section interactive training, run by Black Folks Camp Too (BFCT), aims to educate state park staffers on how to guide people of color through state park camping and other activities. Dan Bortner, director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), said in a press release that improving the racial diversity of state park-goers would advance IDNR’s mission to “protect, enhance, preserve, and widely use” state resources.

“By actively welcoming more people who may have historically spent less time outdoors, we look forward to furthering our important mission now and for generations to come,” said Bortner.

Indiana entered into the $17,500 contract with BFCT in April of this year. BFCT has partnered with the state parks of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Oregon to offer diversity expertise as well. North Carolina paid BFCT $26,800. Oregon paid BFCT $2,000 for a keynote speech in October.

The training will review a history of outdoor recreational barriers that prevented communities of color from participation, as well as exploring and identifying biases regarding outdoors access for communities of color.

Mom of Two Dies From Drinking Too Much Water After Feeling Dehydrated on Family Trip

An Indiana mother of two who told her family it felt like she couldn’t drink enough water to feel satiated collapsed and died from water toxicity — a rare consequence of drinking too much water too quickly.

Ashley Summers, 35, was out at Lake Freeman with her husband and two young daughters over the Fourth of July weekend when she began feeling severely dehydrated.

“Someone said she drank four bottles of water in 20 minutes,” her brother Devon Miller told WRTV. “I mean, an average water bottle is like 16 ounces, so that was 64 ounces that she drank in a span of 20 minutes. That’s half a gallon. That’s what you’re supposed to drink in a whole day.” . . .

“My sister, Holly, called me, and she was just an absolute wreck. She was like ‘Ashley is in the hospital. She has brain swelling, they don’t know what’s causing it, they don’t know what they can do to get it to go down, and it’s not looking good,’” said Miller.

She never regained consciousness, and doctors told her family she had died from water toxicity. (Read more from “Mom of Two Dies From Drinking Too Much Water After Feeling Dehydrated on Family Trip” HERE)

Health Dept. Sits on Records Showing Two Babies Born Alive After Abortions, Three Women Dead

Indiana abortion records The Federalist obtained this week indicate that in 2022 three women died after abortion procedures and two babies were born alive after chemical abortions. They also suggest Indiana abortionists failed to report four abortions on girls aged 15 and younger, as legally required. One of the minors not referred for a state abuse investigation after her abortion, a violation of state law, was just 13 years old, the records say.

The Indiana Department of Health receives legally mandated Terminated Pregnancy Reports on each abortion committed in the state. More than 100 of these from January to November 2022 indicate that abortion facilities in the state may have committed crimes and health violations, according to recordkeeping from Voices for Life, a Hoosier pro-life organization.

IDH has shut down no abortion facilities since January 2022, however, even facilities where records show women died after abortions. As for the 22 abortionists named in these numerous recent reports indicating potential medical malfeasance, “I am not aware of any doctors who have lost their licenses,” Voices for Life Executive Director Melanie Garcia Lyon told The Federalist Wednesday.

IDH communications personnel did not respond to any questions about these records from The Federalist. . .

Indiana’s Republican governor and Republican-dominated legislature are poised to increase taxpayer funding for the health department by 2,000 percent this week, from $7 million a year to more than $150 million. IDH also pushed Indiana families into lockdown and covid testing chaos across two school years despite early-available evidence children were at low risk from Covid-19 exposure. The State’s Senate Just Approved a Firearm Training Fund for Teachers

Indiana lawmakers advanced a bill this week that would make state funding available for teachers who want to be trained on how to use a firearm.

The legislation, H.B. 1177, which passed 42-8 in the state Senate, was first advanced in the state House in February, according to the Associated Press. On Tuesday, two Democrats joined all Republicans in supporting the bill.

Proponents of the bill said that 40 hours of voluntary firearm training would prepare educators to defend themselves and their students in the event of an active shooter situation. The training would be covered by the state, and schools could apply for this funding in the event of a school shooting “to cover the costs of counseling” for students and staffers.

State Sen. Travis Holdman, the bill’s sponsor, reportedly said that he wished this kind of training was mandatory. Previous efforts to offer this kind of training have failed. H.B. 1177 bill passed the House earlier this year in a 71-24 vote. (Read more from “The State’s Senate Just Approved a Firearm Training Fund for Teachers” HERE)

Man Falls off Cliff and Dies Making ‘Daredevil’ TikTok Video

An Indiana man died after falling off a cliff in Puerto Rico while filming a video for TikTok, according to CNN.

Edgar Garay, 27, was on a trip in southwest Puerto Rico when he fell off a 70-foot coastal cliff near a lighthouse. His body was found in an underwater cave by a dive unit.

According to WTHR, which spoke with the brother of the deceased, Garay was with his cousin Emma, who took him sightseeing. The cousin allegedly told Garay repeatedly not to get too close to the cliff. When walking away, Garay’s cousin looked back and realized he was no longer there.

The Coast Guard received a phone call about the incident, with a witness at the scene later saying that she saw Garay stumble toward the edge of the cliff. A helicopter began conducting a search that night.

Carlos Garay, older brother of Edgar, told the Indiana outlet that his brother was a daredevil. (Read more from “Man Falls off Cliff and Dies Making ‘Daredevil’ TikTok Video” HERE)

‘Night of Terror’: Female Inmates Raped When Male Detainees Bribed Guard

Female inmates at an Indiana jail were subjected to a “night of terror” when male detainees gained access to their cells, the women allege in a lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed Friday, July 22, by eight women against Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel and current and former Clark County Jail officers. It’s the second lawsuit filed this summer following the alleged incident, with 20 women filing suit in June, court records show.

The women claim that on Oct. 23, 2021, jail officer David Lowe gave two male detainees keys to the interior of the jail in exchange for $1,000.

That night, the two male detainees and other male inmates went into restricted areas of the jail that housed women, according to the lawsuit.

“Numerous male detainees used the keys obtained from Lowe to enter Pods 4(E) and 4(F), where they raped, assaulted, harassed, threatened and intimidated the plaintiffs in this lawsuit, and other women, for several hours, resulting in significant physical and emotional injuries,” the lawsuit filed in the United States District Court of the Southern District of Indiana says. Abortionist at Center of Ohio 10-Year-Old Rape Victim Moves to Sue Attorney General

Fox 59 reported Tuesday that Dr. Caitlin Bernard has moved to sue Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita for defamation. Dr. Bernard is the abortionist at the center of the incident involving a 10-year-old girl from Ohio who traveled to Indiana for an abortion after becoming pregnant through rape. She’s filed a tort claim, which is considered the first step in such a lawsuit. “The tort claim filing triggers a 90-day investigative period for the state to settle the claim, after which a lawsuit can be filed,” the report mentioned.

According to the local news outlet:

“Mr. Rokita’s false and misleading statements about alleged misconduct by Dr. Bernard in her profession constitute defamation,” said Attorney Kathleen A. DeLaney, who represents Bernard.

The lawsuit comes on the heels of a cease and desist issued by DeLaney, which was itself a response to Rokita’s continued public comments aimed at Bernard. Rokita went on Fox News on July 13 and called Bernard an “abortion activist acting as a doctor” and said she had a “history of failing to report” and even threatened to go after Bernard’s license.

Good Guy With Gun: 22-Year-Old Who Killed Indiana Mass Shooter Was Armed Because of ‘Constitutional Carry’; Why Anti-gun Zealots Can’t Admit Concealed Carry Saves Lives (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. The 22-year-old man who shot and killed the would-be mass shooter at the Indiana Greenwood Park Mall was armed because of “constitutional carry.”

The good guy with a gun has been identified as Elisjsha Dicken.

WTHR indicates that the attacker entered the mall just before 5 p.m. and went into the bathroom where he put his cell phone in a toilet and readied his guns.

He exited the bathroom and began firing at 5:56 p.m.

At 5:57 p.m. Dicken began shooting at the attacker, causing the attacker to attempt to flee back to the bathroom, but he never made it. Instead, he collapsed to the floor.

Why Anti-gun Zealots Can’t Admit Concealed Carry Saves Lives

By The Federalist. After a video of law enforcement officers acting like utter cowards at the Uvalde school shooting was released, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., claimed that the incident “puts to bed, forever, the question of whether the way to deal with bad guys with guns is to make sure there are more good guys with guns.”

Well, “forever” ended this weekend, when a 22-year-old fatally shot a man armed with an AR-15 who had opened fire in a mall food court in Greenwood, Indiana, killing three. We don’t know all the specifics — and we’ll never know how many lives the Good Samaritan saved — but it is clear Murphy’s assertion was incorrect on two counts: Cops who stand around while children are being slaughtered aren’t “good guys,” but real good guys with guns do exist.

Gun controllers assure us they don’t oppose the Second Amendment, they merely want to pass “common sense” gun laws that take “weapons of war” out of the hands of bad guys. Yet their policy proposals and rhetoric tell us something very different. Anti-gun zealots are so singularly focused on guns, they refuse to even acknowledge that the right to personal self-defense exists. Indeed, they can’t even concede that a person carrying a gun legally (as, it seems, the hero in Indiana did) or obtaining a concealed-carry license — and these people are less likely to engage in criminality than cops — might serve a positive use, like mitigating the tragedy of a mall shooting.

If you think I exaggerate, here is Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, noting that, “when a 22-year-old illegally brings a loaded gun into a mall and kills a mass shooter armed with an AR-15 after he already killed three people and wounded others is not a ringing endorsement of our implementation of the Second Amendment.”

It says something about Watts’ beliefs that she is under the impression the Constitution needs “implementation.” It also says something about her views on public policy that she seems to believe a “loaded gun” is always “illegal” (it wasn’t). More telling is the fact that Watts is unwilling to allow that an armed man saving numerous lives is preferable to having civilians sitting around in a gun-free zone waiting for the police to arrive as a madman shoots at them.
