Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled Sunday a new Jewish settlement in the internationally contested Golan Heights named after President Donald Trump.
The settlement is called “Trump Heights” — or “Ramat Heights” in Hebrew — and essentially renames an existing settlement in Kela Alon that was built decades ago, the Wall Street Journal reported. Fewer than a dozen Israeli citizens live in the settlement, which sits just 12 miles from the Syrian border.
Netanyahu revealed the settlement during a meeting of his cabinet.
“We are going to do two things — establish a new community on the Golan Heights, something that has not been done for many years. This is an act of Zionism and it is paramount,” he said, according to the New York Post. “The second thing is to honor our friend, a very great friend of the State of Israel — President Donald Trump, who recently recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.” . . .
The move was internationally condemned, and did not generate any worldwide support. The international community maintains that Israel has illegal control over the Golan despite winning control over the the majority of the land during the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel officially annexed Golan in 1981.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) promoted the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement on Thursday which is designed to destroy Israel.
Tlaib retweeted a tweet from a far-left Democrat activist that goes by the name “Rasha” on Twitter. The tweet stated: “We are connected in radical love. And we have a duty and a privilege in this position to protect not the most popular amongst us, but the most vulnerable amongst us. @thrasherxy on #Palestine and #BDS”

The Washington Free Beacon reported that “the BDS movement targets Israeli organizations and companies doing business in Israel in an effort to weaken Israel economically and politically, forcing the Israeli government to change its policies. Israel is not an apartheid state.”
This is just the most recent example of Tlaib expressing her hatred for the State of Israel, which Democrats no longer push back against, as she recently engaged in Holocaust revisionist history to delegitimize Israel which came in the context of her discussing a one-state solution which calls for the elimination of Israel. Tlaib said:
There’s always kind of a calming feeling I tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports. And just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.

House Republicans are making a move to force Democrats into a potentially party-splitting pro-Israel vote on the House floor.
Wednesday morning, standing alongside a sign that said “We stand with Israel,” members of the House Republican conference discussed their latest procedural move to force a vote on a bill combatting the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestiture, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, the world’s only Jewish state: A discharge petition.
“As elected leaders we have a duty to address the rising trend of anti-Semitism we are seeing across the nation and around the world,” reads a statement from Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. “The BDS movement is a vile manifestation of anti-Semitism that seeks to isolate and shame an American ally; its fundamental motives run counter to our core American principles and ideals.”
H.R. 336, or the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act of 2019, is currently before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and contains provisions designed to protect the world’s only Jewish state from efforts to stymie and cripple it economically.
“The reason that BDS is such a concern,” explained House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., at Wednesday’s press conference, “is that it’s an attempt to delegitimize Israel as a Jewish state.”
Between a growing wave of anti-Israel sentiment on the political Left, media attention from multiple high-profile anti-Semitic statements from far-left Democratic freshmen Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and the watered-down resolution responding to some of those comments, the Democratic Party’s stance on Israel has come into serious question over the past few months.
The House is a majoritarian body by design, leaving very few options for the minority party to control the legislative schedule. A discharge petition, as Republicans are gathering signatures for here, allows for an end run around the majority party’s power, so long as the bill being discharged from committee can get signatures from a House majority.
“We have witnessed the rise of anti-Semitism and anti-Israel hate throughout the world, in our nation, on college campuses and within the halls of Congress, and whether this bigotry is brazen or it’s blatant anti-Semitism deceptively called ‘legitimate’ we must crush it wherever it exists,” said Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., said in a statement about the discharge petition.
“Members of Congress can no longer hide behind procedural roadblocks. The American people deserve to know where each and every one of us stand and what we are willing to do about it,” Zeldin’s statement continues, “which is why we’re doing what House Democratic leadership won’t; unapologetically bringing legislation to the floor that not only condemns the BDS movement but helps stop it.”
This is not the first time this session that Republican leaders have attempted to force their Democratic colleagues to vote on a potentially divisive issue in the House chamber. Earlier this year, GOP members launched a discharge petition campaign to bring up a high-profile anti-infanticide measure after national attention to the issue led to a widely covered vote on the Senate version.
The anti-BDS petition was filed back in April but “ripened” for signatures this week. It will need 218 signatures to bring it out of committee and force a floor vote, which means that all 197 House Republicans would need 21 House Democrats to join them.
According to an emailed statement from the office of House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, no fewer than 27 current House Democrats cosponsored similar legislation in the last Congress.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., however, told reporters Wednesday that he intends to move quickly on the pro-Israel measure.
“The committee is considering this, and I expect to be moving something out of the committee in the relatively near future,” Hoyer said during a press briefing elsewhere in the Capitol complex. “My inclination is to put it on the floor, yes, but I want to see what the committee does first before I make that decision.”

According to a tip provided to The Daily Wire by a Ph.D. student at the U.K.’s prestigious University of Leeds, the student union at the educational institutional recently deemed it appropriate to post something on Facebook warning students that they may not be happy with Jewish students celebrating Israel Independence Day. The post even goes so far as to offer a help and support line for thin-skinned Jew-hating ignoramuses who are so grossly offended by the mere sight of Jewish university students celebrating the independence day — known in Hebrew as Yom Ha’atzmaut — of the world’s one and only Jewish state. . .
Here is the full post:
[Leeds University Union] has given permission for the Jewish Society to run an event on Thursday 9th May in Union Square (12pm-2pm) celebrating Israel Independence Day.
We understand that some of our members will be unhappy that this event is taking place, which is why we are letting students know in advance.

One commented: “Politicising an event devoid of politics. Any nation should be allowed to celebrate their culture away from politics. … Offence is taken, not given, but it seems some are beginning to pick and choose what to take offence to in terms of nation, nationhood and culture. Yom Haatsmaut [sic] celebrations should be able to go ahead tomorrow with no fear of a backlash. It isn’t politics. Its a cultural celebration[.]” (Read more from “Horrible: Major University Warns Jewish Students Not to Celebrate Israel Independence Day” HERE)

Several establishment media outlets have yet to update articles that claimed a pregnant Palestinian mother and her baby were killed by an Israeli rocket over the weekend, even though the story has since proved false.
The deaths were a part of recent tensions that have seen hundreds of rockets being fired from Gaza and an Israeli retaliation, in which 27 people were killed and hundreds injured. . .
“The death toll has risen in the latest wave of cross border Israel-Gaza violence. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported Sunday that nine Palestinians, including a pregnant mother and her baby, were killed in retaliatory airstrikes, according to NBC News,” The Daily Beast wrote, which is linked to a now-deleted story on their website.
A pregnant Palestinian woman and her baby niece were killed in Gaza – do you condemn their deaths and their (Israeli) killers, Senator? If not, why not? https://t.co/ce51aRodlR
More information about their death has been released by the Israeli Defense Force and a local news organization and it has shown that these deaths were caused by a Hamas rocket that didn’t reach Israel.
“A leak from the heroes of the [Islamic Jihad’s] Sarayat al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigades) on the circumstances of the death of the baby Saba Abu ‘Arar indicates that a rocket of the resistance exploded inside the family’s home due to a technical failure, and prematurely exploded,” Hamas’ al-Risala News reported, according to The Jerusalem Post. Far-left Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) attacked Israel on Sunday and defended the Palestinian terrorist attacks that targeted Israel over the weekend. . .
“Terror groups Hamas and Islamic jihad in Gaza have fired over 700 rockets at Israel since Friday, killing four Israelis and wounding dozens,” The Jerusalem Post reported, adding: “Defiant Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials said on Sunday that they don’t rule out the possibility that the current round of fighting in the Gaza Strip could lead to an all-out war with Israel.” . . .
Omar and Tlaib, who are both well-documented anti-Semites, rushed to attack Israel and defended the terrorism that was being carried out against Israel.
In response to a New York Times headline that stated that Palestinian terrorists had fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, Tlaib wrote on Twitter: “When will the world stop dehumanizing our Palestinian people who just want to be free? Headlines like this & framing it in this way just feeds into the continued lack of responsibility on Israel who unjustly oppress & target Palestinian children and families. #FreePalestine”

Omar took a more aggressive stance defending the terrorists, writing: “How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends? The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”

By Breitbart. An Israeli man was killed when a rocket landed in the coastal city of Ashdod, bringing the civilian death toll to four as population centers continue to be pounded with more than 700 projectiles launched by terror groups in the Gaza Strip.
Twenty-three-year-old Pinhas Menahem Pashwazman died after being struck by shrapnel while running to a shelter in Ashdod.
Earlier in the day, Moshe Feder, 67, was killed by an anti-tank missile near the Gaza border in an attack claimed by Hamas. A Bedouin factory worker, who has not been named, was killed in Ashkelon, and Moshe Agadi, 58, was killed in the same city.
80 injuries have been reported and more than 650,000 Israeli civilians under the threat of rocket attacks are running to bomb shelters. Schools, public transportation and businesses have mostly shut in southern Israeli towns. . .
Earlier on Sunday, the terror groups released a joint statement threatening to extend the range of the projectiles. Later on, missiles struck as far north as Rehovot but still did not hit the central region of Tel Aviv. (Read more from “Fourth Israeli Killed as Rocket Onslaught Continues” HERE)

More Than 20 Reported Dead in Gaza, 4 in Israel After Hail of Rockets and Airstrikes
By CNN. There is a dispute over the cause of the deaths of one of the infants and one of the pregnant women — Gaza health officials say both died in an Israeli airstrike, while the Israeli military says they were killed when a militant rocket misfired on launch.
In Israel, a 58-year-old man was killed by rocket fire in Ashkelon overnight Saturday into Sunday, according to Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon. A 50-year-old Israeli man was killed when his car was hit by a Kornet anti-tank missile near Sderot on Sunday afternoon, according to emergency response services.

By Breitbart. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Tuesday that he is planning to name a community in the Golan Heights after President Trump, paying homage to the U.S. president’s recent decision to recognize the strategic plateau as Israeli territory.
“All Israelis were deeply moved when President Trump made his historic decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights,” Netanyahu said in a statement. . .
The prime minister toured the Golan Heights with his wife Sara and their sons Yair and Avner during the intermediate days of Passover. They visited the ancient synagogue at Kfar Nahum and toured the Gamla Nature Reserve.
Trump made the decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights after “aggressive acts by Iran and terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, in southern Syria continue to make the Golan Heights a potential launching ground for attacks on Israel,” he said in statement in March. . .
Following Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, Transportation Minister Israel Katz announced that a train station leading to the Western Wall would be named after Trump. (Read more from “Golan Heights Town to Be Named After President Trump” HERE)
Netanyahu Wants to Name a Golan Heights Settlement After Trump
By New York Magazine. In late March, President Trump did Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu a solid by recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the strategically valuable Golan Heights, an area the state has occupied since the Six-Day War of 1967. By acknowledging Israeli authority in the contentious region annexed from Syria, critics claim that Trump effectively campaigned for Netanyahu in the April 9 election. . .
Currently, around 50,000 people live in the area: Jewish settlers are about half of that, with Druze Arabs with Syrian roots making up the rest of the population. As the New York Times notes, over 30 Jewish settlements have been built in the Golan Heights since the ’67 war. Israel intends to settle the region heavily in the next few decades: By 2048, the state intends to build housing that would accommodate 250,000 Israelis. A 17-year-old Swedish high school student attempted to give a pro-Israel speech in front of her classmates but was shut down by teachers who said it would be met with negative reactions.
Anna, a student at a major high school in Gothenburg, wanted to give a speech on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of the Israeli side of the conflict and immediately started to get negative comments from classmates, SVT reports.
According to the 17-year-old, after teachers noticed the comments they called her to a meeting and asked her to change the subject of her speech to not upset other members of the class. . .
Education lecturer Christer Mattsson slammed the school for pressuring the teen to keep quiet about the subject saying, “You have to say what you think and think about what you want in school. As long as it does not conflict with the law and as long as the intention is not to offend anyone.”
Swedish relations and attitudes toward Israel have been somewhat rocky in recent years, with Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom being slammed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over comments the Swedish official made in 2015. Although Israel’s Sunni jihadist Hamas neighbors to the country’s southwest may take up more international headlines, it is Israel’s Shiite jihadist Hezbollah neighbors to the country’s Lebanese (and, of a more recent vintage, Syrian) north that many feel poses a greater long-term challenge to Israel’s national security interests. Hezbollah, after all, is a proxy of the terrorist Iranian regime and is exceedingly well-armed in terms of its missile and rocket arsenal. Consider this 2016 piece at The Tower bluntly entitled, “The New Hezbollah: Israel’s Next War Will Be A Godawful Mess”:
Hezbollah’s own preparations for its next war with Israel betray its intentions to once again act as a guerrilla force. Hezbollah has expanded and upgraded its already formidable underground tunnel network in south Lebanon. Replicating its strategy of using civilian cover, it has built up over 200 Shiite villages into fortified fighting zones, with rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and command centers. Israel will be forced once again to choose between the unsavory options of striking the villages and killing civilians, or withholding fire. Despite rhetoric from the IDF brass that these areas will be considered targetable military bases, the Gideon Doctrine still acknowledges this as a real dilemma.
Now, The Times of Israel reports that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is warning that Hezbollah is still actively planning an invasion into Israel’s north — and, specifically, into the Sea of Galilee:
The new commander of the IDF’s Ground Forces said Thursday the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah was still planning to carry out a surprise invasion of northern Israel, despite the recent Israeli operation to uncover and destroy an extensive network of cross-border attack tunnels dug by the Iran-backed militia.
Maj. Gen. Yoel Strick was tapped to lead the military’s Ground Forces in February, amid increased criticism charging that Israeli troops were not prepared for war. His comments came less than four months after the IDF concluded its anti-tunnel operation along the Lebanese border.
