Want to Guess How Close Trump and the GOP Came to Winning…Everything in 2020?

Donald Trump is toxic. The GOP is finished. Joe Biden won; he has a mandate — all of these things are false. Also, it would seem demography is not destiny and higher turnout isn’t an automatic lock for Democrats. We have another autopsy of sorts from The Washington Post on the 2020 election. Want to take a guess how many votes Republicans needed to control everything? One million votes, two million? Nope. It didn’t even break 100,000. It was 90,000 votes. Republicans just needed 90,000 votes to control all of Washington this past election cycle. Literally minor changes in the presidential, House, and Senate races could have led to the GOP coming into 2021 with a unified government. There are many ways to skin the electoral cat as some have said in the past. It’s not all grounded in the popular vote. The Electoral College strategy is different. Are we shocked that Donald Trump had fewer popular votes than Joe Biden? No, we knew this was going to be the case, as the areas that are fastest growing are typically Democratic bastions, which also do next to nothing regarding expanding the Left’s ability to reach 270 any easier. What about Florida? Yeah, the state has become more diverse for sure. It’s also more Republican than it was back in 2000 — go figure. Demography is not destiny and there are a host of issues where civil war can break out among Democrats, especially regarding who is filling the campaign coffers. . .

Anyway, here’s the breakdown of how close the Republican Party came to winning the whole show (via WaPo):

Republicans came, at most, 43,000 votes from winning each of the three levers of power. And that will surely temper any move toward drastic corrective action vis-a-vis former president Donald Trump.

[…]

While Democrat Joe Biden won the popular vote by more than four points and the electoral college 306 to 232, the result was much closer to flipping than that would suggest. Biden won the three decisive states — Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin — by 0.6 percentage points or less, which was similar to Trump’s 2016 victory. If you flip fewer than 43,000 votes across those three states, the electoral college is tied 269 to 269. In that case, Trump would probably have won, given that the race would be decided by one vote for each House delegation, of which Republicans control more. . .

The number of votes to flip the result was similar in the House. As the Cook Political Report’s David Wasserman noted in light of Tenney’s win, fewer than 32,000 votes could have flipped the five seats that Republicans would have needed to win the House majority — Illinois’s 17th District, Iowa’s 3rd, New Jersey’s 7th, Texas’s 15th and Virginia’s 7th.

Laid-Off Keystone Workers Outraged Over Biden’s Executive Order

Laid-off Keystone Pipeline workers say President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the pipeline will negatively impacted their futures, according to multiple outlets.

Labor groups have said that the cancellation eliminated 1,000 union jobs and could erase ten times more construction jobs that the Keystone Pipeline would have offered, according to Fox News. In 2014, the State Department estimated that Keystone would have offered jobs for 10,400 construction workers over several seasons, reported CNBC.

“It’s hard to make plans when you’ve got an administration that’s trying to crush your future,” an unnamed Keystone worker told Fox News. “The best stimulus they could do for this country right now is keep people working.”

Tyler Noel, a Keystone worker in South Dakota, told CNBC that he needs the pipeline job.

“Anything that was coming in the next few months was supposed to be Keystone,” Noel said. “If I hadn’t saved my money through the years I would really be in a bind. But I’d say I’ve got at least three months, then I’m gonna have to do something.”

China Warns Biden After Dual Aircraft Carrier Drill

China has delivered a warning to the new U.S. administration not to meddle in the sensitive South China Sea region, where President Joe Biden has ordered his first naval moves since assuming the commander-in-chief title just weeks ago.

The U.S. Navy’s Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group joined the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group on Tuesday for rare dual aircraft carrier exercises involving the massive Nimitz-class warships alongside accompanying vessels and aircraft. . .

“The United States frequently sent vessels and aircraft to the South China Sea to flex its muscles,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters. “This is not conducive to peace and stability in the region.”

“The US move is a repeat of its old trick to manipulate the cross-Strait situation in mixed ways, which has seriously violated China’s sovereignty and security, gravely undermined regional peace and stability, and deliberately disrupted the good atmosphere of peace, friendship and cooperation in the South China Sea,” Tian said in a statement published Friday by the Chinese Defense Ministry. Biden Considers Mandating COVID-19 Testing Prior to Air Travel

Top officials in the Biden administration confirmed in recent days that conversations remain ongoing about requiring Americans traveling on domestic flights to confirm a negative coronavirus test before traveling. . .

The federal government has not implemented testing requirements for Americans flying domestically. Thus far, the most stringent restriction for travelers is the requirement for face coverings, a policy implemented by the airlines themselves. The Transportation Security Administration also requires face masks in secure travel areas.

However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a new policy last month that requires international travelers, including American citizens, to show a negative COVID-19 test prior to entry into the U.S.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg confirmed in an interview with Axios that the CDC is considering implementing a testing policy for domestic flights, but played coy about the chances of such a policy becoming reality.

“Well, there’s an active conversation with the CDC right now,” Buttigieg said. (Read more from “Biden Considers Mandating COVID-19 Testing Prior to Air Travel” HERE)

Biden White House: Your Daughters’ College Prospects Don’t Matter Because ‘Trans Rights’ (VIDEO)

White House press secretary Jen Psaki brushed off concerns about President Joe Biden’s recent executive order mandating that any schools that receive federal funding must function as if biological males who claim to be females are the same and vice versa.

“What message would the White House have for trans girls and cis girls who may end up competing against each other and sparking some lawsuits and some concern among parents? So does the administration have guidance for schools and dealing with disputes arising over trans girls competing against and with cis girls?” a reporter asked at Tuesday’s press briefing, referencing cases in which parents were upset when biological males played in female sports. . .

“I would just say that the president’s belief is that trans rights are human rights, and that’s why he signed that executive order,” Psaki said. “And in terms of the determinations by universities and colleges, I’d certainly defer to them.” (Read more from “Biden White House: Your Daughters’ College Prospects Don’t Matter Because ‘Trans Rights’ (VIDEO)” HERE)

Creepy Joe Gets Flirty With Nurse Running Vaccine Site: ‘You Look Like a Freshman!’

. . .President Biden had an awkward, flirty moment Monday during a video conference event with health care workers in Arizona, during which he stopped to compliment one nurse for her youthful appearance — even gushing that she looks “like a freshman.”

Biden got up to some of his “creepy” old antics when he responded to the nursing supervisor’s detailed description of giving COVID-19 shots by asking her about her age.

“Are you a freshman at the university?” Biden asked Brittney Hayes at the end of a conversation in which she had laid out the process for getting shots to people at the State Farm Stadium vaccination site in Glendale.

“Noo. No,” said Hayes, who had described herself as being from the Arizona State University at the start of the talk — but who made clear she was the “head charge nurse” at the vaccination site.

“You look like a freshman!” Biden said, chuckling.

Biden Admin Yanks Maternity Leave From Trump Appointees Days Before Some Give Birth

President Joe Biden’s administration denied multiple President Trump-era aides their previously established maternity leave, some days before birth, reports Politico.

Even though some Trump aides made arrangements for parental leave early in 2021 in advance of their children’s births, multiple federal employees were told shortly before or after their babies arrived that the benefits would no longer be extended to them after Biden and his team took office.

Some families pleaded with the new administration to honor the previous agreements, one couple writing that they were counting on the leave to deal with “unforeseen complications” during the birth of their child.

“[T]he remaining 9-10 weeks afforded to federal employees is critical to our family and livelihoods as we work to raise a strong, healthy boy under unique and unforeseen complications to our birth plan,” the married Department of Homeland Security officials wrote.

But their calls were disregarded by Biden’s transition team, which said the officials’ previously pledged benefits including payroll ended when former President Donald Trump departed the White House. Continuity between administrations is a long-established tradition in the interests of fairness and unity.

New Bill Allows State to Ignore Joe Biden’s Executive Orders

Lawmakers in North Dakota — where consumers can sue Big Tech and a judge recently exempted religious physicians from doing Obamacare “sex change” operations — are proposing a law allowing the state to ignore presidential executive orders if they don’t meet constitutional muster.

House Bill 1164, introduced for the 2021 session, says the “legislative management may review any executive order issued by the president of the United States which has not been affirmed by a vote of the Congress of the United States and signed into law as prescribed by the Constitution of the United States and recommend to the attorney general and the governor that the executive order be further reviewed.”

It also allows for a review of an executive order by the attorney general “to determine the constitutionality of the order and whether the state should seek an exemption from the application of the order or seek to have the order declared to be an unconstitutional exercise of legislative authority by the president.”

It states that “political subdivision” can implement such an order “that restricts a person’s rights or that the attorney general determines to be unconstitutional under subsection 1 and which relates to: a. pandemics or other health emergencies; b. the regulation of natural resources, including coal and oil; c. the regulation of the agriculture industry; d. the use of land; 3. The regulation of the financial sector… or; f. the regulation of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.” (Read more from “New Bill Allows State to Ignore Joe Biden’s Executive Orders” HERE)

Illegal Aliens Guilty of DUI, Assault Will Not Be Deported Under Biden Plan

Illegal immigrants convicted of simple assault, driving under the influence, and “less serious” drug crimes will not be deported under new Biden administration Immigration and Customs Enforcement guidelines.

The guidelines—which were outlined in internal memos obtained by the Washington Post—aim to prioritize “threats to national security, border security and public safety,” ICE said in a statement. But the agency’s new operational plan severely narrows the criminal convictions required for an illegal immigrant to be considered a “public safety threat.”

“Generally, these convictions would not include drug-based crimes (less serious offenses), simple assault, DUI, money laundering, property crimes, fraud, tax crimes, solicitation, or charges without convictions,” acting director Tae Johnson wrote in a Thursday email. He added that individuals with “gang tattoos” and other “loose” affiliations with gang activity also would not face deportation, according to the Post.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed that ICE would not deport illegal immigrants guilty of assault and DUI under the plan during a Monday afternoon briefing. She argued that while such crimes are not “acceptable behavior,” the administration is “talking about the prioritization of who is going to be deported from the country.” (Read more from “Illegal Aliens Guilty of DUI, Assault Will Not Be Deported Under Biden Plan” HERE)

WATCH: Joe Biden Revives Controversial Claim That He Was ‘Shot at’ Overseas

President Biden on Thursday told State Department employees he was “shot at” overseas — reviving a claim that previously stirred controversy.

“You have great personal courage. I’ve been with some of you when we’ve been shot at,” Biden told a group of diplomatic aides in Washington. . .

Biden said during a CNN-hosted Democratic presidential debate in 2007 that he was “shot at” inside Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone.

He later revised the claim, saying that in fact, “I was near where a shot landed.” (Read more from “WATCH: Joe Biden Revives Controversial Claim That He Was ‘Shot at’ Overseas” HERE)
