Here’s What Would Happen If Trump and Biden Tie in November

While unlikely, some election forecasters have raised the possibility that both President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden could tie in November, with each having 269 electoral votes instead of one reaching the 270 necessary to win the election. . .

If by some chance Trump and Biden find themselves one electoral vote shy of victory, here’s what would happen.

If neither Biden nor Trump wins 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives will decide the winner, according to Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution. Though Democrats have the majority in the lower chamber, individual members do not vote to break a tie in a presidential election. Instead, each state delegation gets one vote to be decided upon by its members. A simple majority of House delegations decides the winner, as outlined in Article II.

Technically, House delegations can cast a vote for any candidate that finished in the top three, since no candidate will have received a majority of electoral votes, per Article II.

Though the House decides the president, the Senate would vote to select the vice president, Article II says, creating the possibility that the president and vice president could be of different parties. (Read more from “Here’s What Would Happen If Trump and Biden Tie in November” HERE)

Biden Says Corruption Claims Against Hunter Biden Are ‘Totally Discredited.’ But That’s Not True; WATCH: CNN Anchor Slams ‘Swamp Creature’ Hunter Biden

By The Blaze. . .About halfway through the chaotic debate, President Donald Trump homed in on Hunter Biden and scrutiny surrounding his work in Ukraine and Russia during the Obama administration, for which he was paid handsomely. Biden’s critics have suggested the financial payments are evidence of corruption and a conflict of interest while Biden was vice president.

Trump asked, “While we’re at it, just out of curiosity, the mayor of Moscow’s wife gave your son $3.5 millions of dollars. What did he do to deserve it?” . . .

Last week, Senate Republicans on the Homeland Security Committee and the Finance Committee released a joint report leveling new, serious allegations against Hunter Biden.

The report detailed more than a dozen “key findings” that connect Hunter Biden’s time on the board of Burisma in Ukraine to possible corruption, aiding Moscow’s disinformation efforts, and even hindering U.S. foreign policy.

One of those “key findings” was that “Hunter Biden received a $3.5 million wire transfer from Elena Baturina, the wife of the former mayor of Moscow.” (Read more from “Biden Says Corruption Claims Against Hunter Biden Are ‘Totally Discredited.’ But That’s Not True.” HERE)

CNN’s John King: Hunter Biden Is ‘a Swamp Creature… Trading in His Family Name to Make Money’

By Fox News. CNN anchor John King said on Wednesday that Hunter Biden is a “swamp creature” who used his powerful father to make money.

Trump attacked Joe Biden over his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings in a heated exchange during the first presidential debate on Tuesday night, which prompted the CNN anchor to admit it’s a weakness for the Democratic nominee.

“Hunter Biden in many ways is a weakness for the former vice president because of his work, he was a, I’ll call it out, he’s a swamp creature. Like many people, trading in his family name to make money around the world,” King said.

Leftists Call to CANCEL Debates: They Are a ‘Danger to Public Safety and a Direct Threat to Black Life’

Left-wing figures across the board demanded the remaining presidential debates be canceled because the entire spectacle, they say, was “stupid” and future debates would serve as a “danger to public safety and a direct threat to Black life.”

Former MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, for example, stated the debates should be dropped because they are “now a danger to public safety and a direct threat to Black life”:

Chris Wallace Just Gave the Most Embarrassing Moderator Performance in History; Moderator Faces Intense Backlash Over Bias During Debate

By The Federalist. Debating one person is difficult, especially if he’s had oodles of alone time in his basement to prepare while you’ve been a little busy leading the country. Debating that person and a partisan media hack at the same time is just BS.

That, however, was President Donald Trump’s exact plight Tuesday night at the first 2020 presidential debate, when he was treated to a two-on-one showdown with his actual opponent Joe Biden and his honorary rival, Fox News moderator Chris Wallace.

Wallace, a registered Democrat, failed to maintain any control over the debate. Even members of the left pointed out what a chaotic “disgrace” the whole ordeal was. But after a while, it was hard to pay attention to anything but Wallace’s Biden bias. Media moderators playing favorites with presidential contenders is nothing new, but Wallace’s persistent partisanship reached a new low.

From interrupting Trump but not Biden at nearly every turn, blocking the incumbent before he could correct mischaracterizations and flat-out lies from Biden, to full-throated arguments with the president despite lobbing soft-ball questions — or no questions at all — to the former vice president, Wallace’s presentation was appalling. Chris Wallace Faces Intense Backlash, Including From Colleagues, Over Bias During Debate

By Daily Wire. Fox News host Chris Wallace, a registered Democrat, faced intense backlash on Tuesday night for what was widely deemed as bias in the debate in the favor of Democrat Joe Biden and against Republican President Donald Trump. . .

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade even noted the discrepancy and called it out on social media, writing: “Why is @JoeBiden allowed to interrupt? @realDonaldTrump is not.”

WATCH: Biden Lies Again About Trump’s Push for Coronavirus Inspectors in China; Next Debates Will Have ‘Additional Structure,’ Commission Says After First Trump-Biden Face-Off

By Washington Free Beacon. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden repeated a debunked claim that the Trump administration did not push the Chinese government to allow U.S. experts to enter Wuhan, China, during the early days of the pandemic in Tuesday night’s debate. In fact, the U.S. government repeatedly asked the Chinese government to permit Centers for Disease Control experts to enter the country and assist with the pandemic response in January.

Next Debates Will Have ‘Additional Structure,’ Commission Says After First Trump-Biden Face-Off

By Market Watch. The remaining presidential debates will have “additional structure,” the Commission on Presidential Debates said Wednesday, following Tuesday’s first debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden. The debate, held in Cleveland, was widely criticized as chaotic, with the two candidates frequently interrupting each other. Trump Must Confront Biden on Democrats’ Election Interference Plans

By American Greatness. . .Joe Biden not only is the ultimate victor in the dry run of the post-election civil war Democratic Party leaders and donors plan to launch after November 3, the former vice president is an old hand at thwarting the so-called “peaceful transfer of power” they now insist the president will frustrate.

Hyperventilating by the media and Democrats aside, the fact is that Barack Obama and Joe Biden have done more to tarnish the historical precedent of ensuring the smooth transition from one president to another than any other previous administration.

. . .[T]he president needs to remind the American people of their treachery, which has been as much of an assault on all of us, perhaps more so, than on Donald Trump. This “permanent coup,” as author Lee Smith describes it, involves loyalists to both Obama and Biden who control powerful government agencies, influential nonprofits and the news industry.

Each week, more bombshell revelations are disclosed about the insidious attempt to oust Donald Trump from the White House because the ruling class could not accept the results of the 2016 election. (Read more from “Trump Must Confront Biden on Democrats’ Election Interference Plans” HERE)

Chaotic U.S. Election Debate Fuels Investors’ Fears of Contested Result

By Reuters. U.S. equity futures fell and volatility indicators turned jumpy as a chaotic presidential debate between incumbent Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden heightened fears that a disputed ballot could lead to a messy transfer of power.

Nagging doubts over whether Republican President Trump would agree to hand over the keys to the White House if he loses have grown in recent weeks. And during the first debate on Tuesday, Trump declined to commit to accepting the results, repeating his unfounded complaint that mail-in ballots would lead to election fraud.

Trump repeatedly interrupted Democratic rival Joe Biden in the Cleveland debate, the first ahead of the Nov. 3 vote, as the rival candidates traded barbs over Trump’s taxes, the economy, the coronavirus pandemic and the integrity of the election.

“The debate drew further attention to the potential for a contested election,” said Hani Redha, global multi-asset portfolio manager, at Pinebridge. “It is likely market participants will continue to price in this issue, heightening volatility all the way to election day and its immediate aftermath.” (Read more from “Chaotic U.S. Election Debate Fuels Investors’ Fears of Contested Result” HERE)

New Poll: Trump Wobbles, Down 8 Points to Biden After Leading Two Weeks Ago

By Washington Examiner. Even before voters had a chance to weigh in on last night’s presidential debate slugfest, Democrat Joe Biden surged into a comfortable 8-point lead in the just-released Weekly White House Watch from Rasmussen Reports.

Biden’s 51%-43% lead is the Democrat’s first time over 50% and is Trump’s lowest level of support from likely voters since August.

The drop from a week ago when Biden led Trump 48%-47% came after the president moved to replace the late liberal Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with conservative federal Judge Amy Coney Barrett. The week before, in the back and forth race, Trump led Biden 47% to 46%. (Read more from “New Poll: Trump Wobbles, Down 8 Points to Biden After Leading Two Weeks Ago” HERE)

Poll Finds Trump, Biden in Statistical Dead Heat in South Carolina

By The Hill. A new poll finds President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden statistically tied in South Carolina, which has not gone for the Democratic nominee in more than 40 years.

The Quinnipiac poll found Trump at 48 percent and Biden at 47 percent among likely voters in South Carolina, down from the president’s six-point advantage in the same poll from two weeks ago.

The survey from Quinnipiac University also finds Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) tied with Democrat Jaime Harrison in a race that could have enormous consequences on which party controls the Senate next year.

“There hasn’t been a Democrat elected to the Senate from South Carolina since 1998,” said Quinnipiac University pollster Tim Malloy. “Outspent and labeled by critics as an apologist for President Trump, Lindsey Graham is facing the fight of his political life.” (Read more from “Poll Finds Trump, Biden in Statistical Dead Heat in South Carolina” HERE)

Who Won the First Presidential Debate? Experts Grade Trump-Biden Mess; Joe Biden Denies Antifa Organizations Exist

By New York Post. President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, spent more than an hour during the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio, brawling over how best to manage the deadly coronavirus crisis, taxes, climate change, and a host of other domestic policy issues. . .

“Both landed some shots. Both interrupted too much and acted like children,” said Matt Mackowiak, a longtime Republican strategist, podcast host and chairman of the local Republican Party in Austin, Texas.

Another election night analyst for The Post, Liz Benjamin, is no stranger to rough-and-tumble politics. But this veteran of Albany — who covered it as a reporter, columnist and as the former longtime anchor of Capital Tonight before becoming a communications consultant — called it a “wash.” . . .

But longtime Staten Island Republican political strategist Leticia Remauro gave Trump a slight edge.

“Trump by a hair. He was forceful and solidified his base but loses points for interrupting,” wrote Remauro, a regular on New York 1’s ‘Inside City Hall’ who ran public relations for the Battery Park City Authority in the aftermath of the Sept. 11th terror attacks. Joe Biden Denies Antifa Organizations Exist

By Townhall. Former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden denied the existence of organized Antifa groups during the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday.

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace had asked President Trump if he was willing “to condemn white supremacists and militia groups, and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities, as we saw in Kenosha and as we’ve seen in Portland?”

“Sure, I’m willing to do that. I would say almost everything I see is from the left-wing, not from the right-wing,” Trump replied, telling the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”

“But I tell you what, somebody has got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing problem, this is a left-wing problem,” Trump added.

“Antifa is an idea, not an organization, that’s what his FBI director said,” Biden replied. (Read more from “Joe Biden Denies Antifa Organizations Exist” HERE)

Presidential Debate: Insults Fly as Trump, Biden Tussle at First Showdown

President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden kicked off their first fiery presidential debate Tuesday night, sparring over everything from the Supreme Court nomination, coronavirus and Biden’s sons, with moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News admonishing Trump several times for interrupting.

The first of three showdowns between Trump, 74, and Biden, 77, devolved into attacks on Hunter Biden, smarts and schoolyard name-calling. As Trump went on offense, Biden tried to shut him down by calling the president a “clown” and a “liar.” . . .

Trump came out swinging, but Biden held his own and didn’t fall into previous debate pitfalls where he cut his time short or stumbled to get out responses. The two men often talked over each other in a brawl that got unwieldy at times.

The president touted his record in the White House on boosting the economy and how he handled the pandemic, proclaiming: “There has never been an administration or president who has done more than I’ve done in a period of three and a half years, and that’s despite the impeachment hoax.” . . .

Biden sought to define himself as the steady leader of the Democratic Party and distanced himself from Bernie Sanders’ health care plan and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal. (Read more from “Presidential Debate: Insults Fly as Trump, Biden Tussle at First Showdown” HERE)

Biden Campaign to Fact-Check Trump With New Twitter Account During Debate; Biden and Trump Prepare for a Debate That Could Turn Personal

By Fox News. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign launched a Twitter account for the purpose of fact-checking President Trump ahead of the first of three debates between the two contenders.

The Biden campaign launched the account, @Truth, in partnership with the Democratic National Committee. The account will share updates in real time based on topics discussed during the debates.

“The American people deserve to remember what it’s like to have a president who tells the truth again,” Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement.

In its first tweet, the account shared a clip of Biden responding to a question from a reporter who asked what he could have to accomplish in order to have a successful debate performance. In response, Biden said he would “just tell the truth.” (Read more from “Biden Campaign to Fact-Check Trump With New Twitter Account During Debate” HERE)

Biden and Trump Prepare for a Debate That Could Turn Personal

By CNN. Inside the map room of the White House, a small group of advisers sat around a table and peppered the President with accusations and criticisms about everything from lying to incompetence. The team, led by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, was getting Donald Trump prepared for the onslaught they expect from Joe Biden on the debate stage Tuesday night.

About 100 miles north in Wilmington, Delaware, a similar scene played out with Biden and his team, led by longtime Biden aide and debate expert Ron Klain. Biden’s prep has been more traditional — putting on mock debates with veteran Democratic attorney Bob Bauer playing the role of Trump in at least one session.

For two very different men with polar opposite temperaments and divergent governing philosophies, their debate objectives have some fundamental things in common: Put their opponent on the defense and make it as much a referendum on the other as possible. In conversations with multiple sources familiar with both candidates’ prep, each is practicing ways to get under the other’s skin, while also avoiding blowing up and going off script if the debate turns personal.

Advisers to both candidates are expecting one of the night’s biggest flash points to be about each man’s children. (Read more from “Biden and Trump Prepare for a Debate That Could Turn Personal” HERE)
