Dem Governor Admits GOP Lawsuits, Courts Are Restraining Her COVID Tyranny

After inadvertently admitting last week that Michigan’s harsh lockdowns have not deterred the “raging” COVID-19 pandemic, Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on Sunday she now lacks the “same tools” to enforce such policies. Nevertheless, the governor’s administration proposed more restrictions.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Whitmer told anchor Chuck Todd that she has lost the ability to sustain executive action for lockdown orders.

“I have been sued by my legislature. I have lost in a Republican-controlled Supreme Court,” Whitmer said. “I don’t have all of the exact same tools. Despite those things, we still have some of the strongest mitigation measures in the country.”

” … I’m working with a smaller set of tools at my disposal, and that’s why we really do need, and appreciate, the additional help we’re getting from the federal government,” Whitmer said. (Read more from “Dem Governor Admits GOP Lawsuits, Courts Are Restraining Her COVID Tyranny” HERE)

Restaurant Owner Put in Jail After Defying COVID Rules

An online fundraising campaign created to support jailed Michigan restaurant owner Marlena Pavlos-Hackney surpassed its original $200,000 goal on Sunday afternoon. The owner of Marlena’s Bistro and Pizzeria was arrested last week after repeatedly refusing to follow the state’s operational mandates for food service establishments during the COVID pandemic.

The fundraising initiative’s host increased the goal to $250,000 on Sunday. Pavlos-Hackney’s legal proceedings have garnered national attention from conservatives, many of whom have pushed back against Michigan’s COVID-19 mitigation measures for the better part of a year. Among other programs she was recently featured on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Hundreds of local residents, hopeful elected officials and state Republican leaders rallied behind Pavlos-Hackney’s cause during a demonstration held outside her eatery on Saturday in Holland, Michigan. . .

Pavlos-Hackney appeared before Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina during a court hearing on Friday, and will remain in custody at Ingham County jail while state personnel monitor the restaurant to confirm it is truly closed. The owner also faces a $7,500 fine, which she voiced intent to pay on Friday in addition to shutting down the restaurant. Aquilina further ordered that Richard Martin, who attempted to represent Pavlos-Hackney during the hearing without a license to practice law in Michigan, be held in contempt of court for up to 93 days. After Thousands of Electronic Votes Fraudulently Cast for Biden, Michigan County Votes for Hand-Counts Only in Next Election

A small county in northern Michigan voted to conduct a hand count for its primary election instead of using its Dominion Voting Systems machines that became the subject of a lawsuit that has drawn national attention.

Commissioners in Antrim County rejected a request last week from the chief election officer, who sought $5,080 to hire consultants to prepare their Dominion machines for the May 4 contest, and voted unanimously to keep the equipment “on ice,” according to the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

Antrim County Clerk Sheryl Guy, who issued the request, said the machines were not “certified for use” as required by the Michigan secretary of state because of a forensic examination conducted in December as part of the November election lawsuit against the county.

The commissioners voted on Thursday to instead conduct a hand count of ballots for the May primary election. According to the report, Guy said this could run afoul of state law given the type of precinct paper that was approved. Ex-Michigan Governor Charged in Flint Water Crisis

Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has been charged for his role in the Flint water crisis, which caused an outbreak of Legionnaires disease and contaminated residents’ homes with lead-based water.

An indictment filed by the state attorney general’s office charged Snyder with two counts of willful neglect of duty after a years-long investigation into one of the worst environmental disasters in US history.

The misdemeanor charges could put Snyder behind bars up to a year along with a $1,000 fine.

Snyder, a Republican, was in office in 2014 when the state decided to alter the water supply, which contaminated homes in Flint with lead-tainted water. (Read more from “Ex-Michigan Governor Charged in Flint Water Crisis” HERE)

DISTURBING: U.S. Government Orders ‘Jesus’ on T-Shirt Censored as ‘Political Speech’

A lawsuit has been filed in federal court against the city of Hart, Michigan, after officials there ordered a T-shirt message about Jesus censored.

The case developed when Margaret Wittman, an elections worker, was relieved of her duties for refusing to hide her shirt that said, “My heart will TRUST in you JESUS,” while working at the polls during the presidential election.

Robert Muise, of the American Freedom Law Center, which is working on the case, said, “The Constitution does not permit government officials to order a private citizen to check her religion at the door to city hall. Ms. Wittman does not cease being a Christian when she is performing her duties as an election worker…”

He continued, “Indeed, the First Amendment categorically prohibits government from regulating, prohibiting, or rewarding religious beliefs as such. And the principles that government officials may not enact or enforce policies that suppress religious belief or practice is well understood in our courts of law.” . . .

The AFLC explained Wittman then was ordered to speak with the city manager, who again told her that “TRUST in JESUS” is political speech. (Read more from “DISTURBING: U.S. Government Orders ‘Jesus’ on T-Shirt Censored as ‘Political Speech'” HERE)

Lesbian Attorney General: Punish Any Lawyer Challenging Election

The top law-enforcement officer in the state of Michigan is looking to punish lawyers who have challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election, claiming the lawsuits include “intentional misrepresentations.”

Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat and open lesbian, says she’ll pursue action against attorneys who filed vote-fraud lawsuits amid claims that Dominion Voting Systems machines were electronically switching votes intended for President Donald Trump to votes for former Vice President Joe Biden.

“You know if you will have your name attached to it, and you have made intentional misrepresentations of facts to the court, I absolutely believe that you ought to be held accountable,” Nessel told reporters, according to Michigan Radio.

Nessel indicated she’s looking to file complaints with the Attorney Grievance Commission, based on her belief the lawsuits challenging the outcome for Biden contain intentional disinformation. . .

Sunday morning, President Trump commented on the controversy, tweeting: “These lawyers are true patriots who are fighting for the truth and, obviously, getting very close. AG should be sanctioned. Fight on!”

Woman Charged for Graphic Threat To GOP Official Who Refused To Certify Biden Win

A woman has been accused in a criminal complaint of sending images that included a bloody human body to a Republican official in Michigan who initially declined to certify the state’s election results for Joe Biden.

The GOP members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers initially rejected the certification because of claims of vote fraud but later finished the process.

The Detroit Free Press reported the charge names Katelyn Jones, who allegedly told Canvasser Monica Palmer: “You have made a grave mistake. I hope you realize that now.”

One of the images accompanying the message was “of a mutilated body,” according to the complaint filed in federal court in Detroit.

The suspect sent the messages from New Hampshire, where she was visiting relatives, the report said. (Read more from “Woman Charged for Graphic Threat To GOP Official Who Refused To Certify Biden Win” HERE)

WATCH: Armed Demonstrators Protest Election Results Outside State Official’s Home

A group of armed demonstrators protested the results of the 2020 election in front of the home of Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson Saturday.

The group shouted with bullhorns and held signs during the evening protest, where individuals contested the results of the race between President-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, according to video. Genevieve Peters, who took the footage while donning a “Trump 2020” snow hat, called the election “bull****,” before police eventually arrived at the scene, the video showed.

“We are over here in the fricking dead of night, man,” Peters said, according to the Washington Examiner. “We are letting her know that we’re not taking this bull**** election, we are not standing down, we are not giving up. You are not going to take this election from a man that has earned it completely 100% by a freaking landslide. Let me tell you: This ain’t over.”

Michigan House Republicans Plan To Impeach Governor

Several Republican members of the Michigan House of Representatives are proposing articles of impeachment against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

State Rep. Matt Maddock (R) announced via Parler that he is joining with Reps. Daire Rendon (R), Beau LaFave (R), Ryan Berman (R), and Shane Hernandez (R) on the effort. He said incoming legislators Ken Borton (R) and Steve Carra (R) are supportive, as well. . .

In Michigan, the House of Representatives initiates impeachment and a majority vote is required. In the next legislative session, Republicans will have a 58-52 majority, according to Mlive.

Three representatives would be appointed to prosecute the impeachment case in the Senate. Two-thirds of senators must vote to convict the governor in order for her to be removed. Republicans hold a 22-16 majority in that chamber, Ballotpedia reported, so at least three Democrats would need to vote affirmatively for removal.

On Sunday, Whitmer issued a string of new coronavirus-related orders and dubbed the actions a three-week “pause.”

Judge Rules Against GOP Lawsuit Claiming Election Misconduct

A Michigan judge denied a motion from a group of Republicans seeking to halt certification of the election results from Detroit and initiate an independent audit of the election.

Wayne County Judge Timothy Kenny on Friday called the plaintiffs’ claims “incorrect and not credible.”

The lawsuit itself cited several affidavits of individuals claiming that there was widespread election fraud at the TCF Center, which was used as the central location to tabulate absentee ballots in Wayne County, where Detroit is located. The defendants in the case also provided sworn affidavits from individuals who were at the center and said that the Republican accusations were unfounded.

“After analyzing the affidavits and briefs submitted by the parties, this Court concludes the Defendants offered a more accurate and persuasive explanation of activity within the Absent Voter Counting Board (AVCB) at the TCF Center,” Kenny ruled.
