Gunman Takes Lives of Two Officers and Paramedic Who Tried Helping During Domestic Violence Call

In a devastating incident that unfolded in Burnsville, Minnesota, two police officers and a paramedic lost their lives during a prolonged standoff with a man who barricaded himself inside his home with his family in an apparent domestic violence incident. Officers Matthew Ruge, 27, and Paul Elmstrand, 27, along with 40-year-old paramedic and firefighter Adam Finseth, were shot and killed while attempting to rescue a family from a residence in a quiet Burnsville neighborhood, located about 15 miles south of Minneapolis.

The unnamed shooter, who initiated a standoff by barricading himself with his family – a woman and seven children aged 2 to 15 – also met his demise at the scene, reportedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though official confirmation of his cause of death is pending. A fourth officer sustained injuries but is being treated for non-life-threatening wounds.

The tragic incident unfolded in response to domestic abuse calls made by a resident inside the home around 1:50 a.m., prompting law enforcement to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered the armed man, described as “dangerous” and “refusing to come out.” Negotiations spanned approximately four hours, during which the situation escalated, leading to gunfire.

Two officers were struck during the exchange, and when paramedic Adam Finseth attempted to rescue them, he too was fatally shot. Approximately an hour later, another gunshot was heard from inside the house, revealing that the suspect had taken his own life.

The family, comprising a woman and seven children, was safely evacuated from the home after the standoff concluded. Authorities then began a thorough search of the residence.

Drew Evans, Superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, revealed that the gunman had multiple firearms and a significant amount of ammunition. The assailant fired on officers from various positions within the home, spanning both the first and second floors.

The community mourns the loss of the brave officers and paramedic who made the ultimate sacrifice while attempting to protect and serve.

Art Museum Offers ‘Family Friendly Demon Summoning Session’

A publicly funded nonprofit in Minneapolis, Minnesota, hosted a demon summoning ritual called “Lilit the Empathic Demon,” billed as a “family friendly” event.

The Walker Art Center, which hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, described the event as a “collective and playful demon summoning session” employing “ancient Babylonian techniques,” and ending with “a somatic movement meditation designed to help you befriend your shadows.”

Another performance on “how to trap a demon” came before the event, according to the Post Millennial.

This event taught children how to craft a clay jar in order to trap demons in order to “get to know them.”

The artist hosting the course, Tamar Ettun, previously crafted an entire exhibit on “How to Trap a Demon.” (Read more from “Art Museum Offers ‘Family Friendly Demon Summoning Session’” HERE)

Male Accused of Raping Girls Ages 4 and 9 to Serve Less Than 180 Days in Jail – Not Required to Register as Sex Offender

A 20-year-old Minnesota man accused of raping two girls, ages 4 and 9, when he was around 16 years old will serve less than 180 days in jail and up to 30 years of probation. He will not have to register as a sex offender, and the charges against him will be dismissed from his criminal record at the completion of his probation, the Post Bulletin reported.

Mohamed Bakari Shei faced three felony first-degree charges in two rape cases involving minor victims. Shei was initially charged in 2019 after he was accused of sexual assaults against a 4-year-old and 9-year-old girl when he was 15 and 16 years old.

The court documents revealed that one of the underage victims reported in April 2020 that she had first been raped by Shei on Mother’s Day in 2018 at a residence. The girl informed the police that Shei had promised to give her money and buy her toys.

In June 2021, a second underage victim told authorities that Shei had raped her multiple times at the same residence.

In December 2022, Shei entered an Alford plea, which meant that he did not admit guilt of the sexual assault crimes, but he did admit the jury would likely convict him based on the evidence. State Poised to Legalize Infanticide, Nuke Protections for Women and Babies in Radical Abortion Bill (VIDEO)

Minnesota Democrats are poised to ignore the at least 69 percent of Americans who say they want significant limits on abortion to pass the state’s most radical abortion bill, which would legalize taxpayer-funded on-demand abortion for all.

The Protect Reproductive Options Act (PROA), the first bill Democrats introduced in both the state House and Senate this session, would repeal dozens of the state’s protections for women and babies and expand legal immunity for abortions up until the moment of birth and beyond.

The bill is eagerly supported by Planned Parenthood and its allies in the press and the Biden administration, but legal experts say it goes “far beyond any interpretation of the Minnesota Supreme Court case Doe v. Gomez,” the state’s version of Roe v. Wade.

“Cattle and reptiles will have more legal protections in Minnesota than Minnesota’s vulnerable preborn children. Legal penalties for animal cruelty in Minnesota range from misdemeanor up to a felony while there is no criminal penalty for leaving a preborn child to die on a cold metal table,” Renee Carlson, general counsel at True North Legal, said in remarks to the Senate ahead of the vote.

That doesn’t matter to state legislators, who could vote on the bill in the Minnesota House as soon as Thursday. If passed by both chambers, the legislation will head to Democrat Gov. Tim Walz’s desk, where he is expected to sign it into law. (Read more from “State Poised to Legalize Infanticide, Nuke Protections for Women and Babies in Radical Abortion Bill” HERE)

State Poised to Ban Christians, Muslims, and Jews From Teaching in Public Schools

from teaching in public schools by requiring that every state-certified teacher “fosters an environment that ensures student identities such as … gender identity … are … affirmed.” Once the new requirements clear a final procedural hurdle, they will be immediately challenged in state and possibly federal court, a civil liberties lawyer told The Federalist on Tuesday.

“We have lots of parents who are upset by this sort of thing in schools already,” said Doug Seaton, president of Minnesota’s Upper Midwest Law Center, in an interview. “They’re going to be even more upset with how their teachers are going to be licensed. Their teachers are going to have to be faced with hiding their beliefs or getting denied [for a state teaching license].”

Seaton said it was accurate to describe the nearly finalized regulations as communicating: “Christians, Muslims, and Jews need not apply for Minnesota teaching jobs.” That is unconstitutional, he said, so UMLC plans to sue once the changes go into effect.

The state agency that composed the changes disputed they would effectively ban religious Americans from teaching in Minnesota schools through a spokeswoman on Wednesday. The spokeswoman did not respond to a follow-up asking how Christians, Jews, and Muslims could adhere to their faith while complying with the licensing requirements that all new teachers publicly reject their faiths’ declaration that God has created only two sexes, male and female. Disturbing Report: Babies Left to Die After Botched Abortions

Several infants were left to die after being born alive during botched abortions in Minnesota in 2021, according to a state health report.

Abortion procedures resulted in the birth of live infants in five separate incidents, and life-saving measures were not reported to have been used in any of the incidents, the Minnesota Health Department report found.

Two infants were pre-viable and were left to die with no attempts made to save their lives, according to the report. One infant with an unspecified fetal abnormality was also left to die without medical care.

In two instances, infants were born alive after abortions and given “comfort care measures” before dying; the report makes no note of whether life-saving measures were attempted in these cases. (Read more from “Disturbing Report: Babies Left to Die After Botched Abortions” HERE)

Couple Adopts 6 Siblings to Keep Them Together

A Minnesota family grew by six members in one day Wednesday when Ruby Celada and her husband, Armando Ayala, adopted five siblings and their cousin from foster care.

The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports the Leota, Minnesota family all wore matching T-shirts displaying the children’s names during their adoption hearing at the Minnehaha County Courthouse.

Celada, the children’s biological aunt, said she and her husband wanted to make sure the family stayed together. The siblings and their cousin, four boys and two girls, range in ages from 6 to 12, according to the report.

“We’re just happy that we’re able to do it, and they’re able to be in the same home,” she said. “They’re not separated or anything.”

The children were placed in foster care because of neglect by their birth parents, some of whom are now in prison, the local news reports. (Read more from “Couple Adopts 6 Siblings to Keep Them Together” HERE)

Republican Congressman Dead at 59

Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-Minn.) has died following a battle with kidney cancer, his family revealed on Friday. He was 59.

“It is with a broken heart, shattered spirit and overwhelming sadness I share my husband Congressman Jim Hagedorn passed away peacefully last night,” Hagedorn’s wife, former Minnesota state GOP chair Jennifer Carnahan, said in a Facebook tribute.

“Jim loved our country and loved representing the people of southern Minnesota,” Carnahan added. “Every moment of every day he lived his dream by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband; and it showed in how he voted, led and fought for our country.”

Hagedorn was elected to represent Minnesota’s First District, which covers the southern portion of the state, in 2018. He was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in February 2019, just six weeks into his first term and two months after marrying Carnahan.

The lawmaker went public with his diagnosis in February 2020 after undergoing surgery and more than a year of immunotherapy treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (Read more from “Republican Congressman Dead at 59” HERE)

COVID Patient Flown to Texas After Minnesota Doctors Decided to Pull Plug on Ventilator

A Minnesota woman whose husband neared death from COVID appealed to the courts to force his hospital to halt their plans to pull the plug on the man’s ventilator.

Scott Quiner, 55, a reportedly unvaccinated man who had been battling COVID in Mercy Hospital’s ICU in Coon Rapids since November, was set to have his ventilator shut off on Jan. 13, according to a petition filed in court one day before the deadline by his wife, Anne Quiner.

Quiner said the decision by the hospital would “end my husband’s life” and appealed to the Anoka County Court for a restraining order against the hospital. “Absent an Order from the court,” she wrote in the petition, “my husband will die.”

On Jan. 13, a district court judge ordered Mercy Hospital not to turn off Quiner’s ventilator.

On Monday morning, Marjorie Holsten, an attorney representing Quiner’s wife, told the Star Tribune that Quiner has now been transferred to a hospital in Texas. (Read more from “COVID Patient Flown to Texas After Minnesota Doctors Decided to Pull Plug on Ventilator” HERE)

Leftist School Required 4th Graders To Complete ‘Equity Survey’, Told To Hide Project From Parents (VIDEO)

A fourth grade student in the Sartell-St. Stephen school district in Minnesota informed the school board students were required to complete an “equity survey,” and told not to “repeat any of the questions to our parents.”

“My teacher said that I could not skip any questions even when I didn’t understand them,” Haylee Yasgar, who attended Riverview Intermediate School, said at a recent school board meeting, reported Alphanews Minnesota.

“One question asked us what gender we identify with,” Haylee added. “I was very confused along with a lot of other classmates.”

Haylee said students were also told they were not permitted to “repeat any of the questions to our parents.”

“Being asked to hide this from my mom made me very uncomfortable, like I was doing something wrong,” Haylee told the school board. (Read more from “Leftist School Required 4th Graders To Complete ‘Equity Survey’, Told To Hide Project From Parents (VIDEO)” HERE)
