Sheriff Refuses to Release Gun Owner Info to the FBI: ‘I Will Go Down With the Ship if Need Be’

A sheriff in Missouri has refused to release gun owner information to the FBI, even if the agency threatens to arrest him.

Republican Scotland County Sheriff Bryan Whitney wrote to residents in his community on Monday about the plan to audit Missouri’s gun owner records.

“As the sheriff of Scotland County, I want all my citizens to know that I will not allow, cooperate or release any [conceal carry weapon] information to the FBI, ‘even at the threat of a federal arrest,’” said Whitney.

“Point Blank, ‘I will go down with the ship if need be,’” he added, according to Fox News.

Whitney says the FBI planned to audit 24 counties, though it is unknown which counties in Missouri would be affected. (Read more from “Sheriff Refuses to Release Gun Owner Info to the FBI: ‘I Will Go Down With the Ship if Need Be'” HERE)

Multiple Dead, at Least 50 Injured After Amtrak Train Carrying 243 Passengers Derails

An Amtrak train traveling from Los Angeles to Chicago derailed in Missouri on Monday afternoon — resulting in fatalities and numerous injuries, according to reports.

The train collided with a dump truck at a public railroad crossing in Mendon, Missouri, 100 miles east of Kansas City, at 1:42 p.m. local time, Amtrak said in a statement.

The statement said there are “early reports of injuries,” but did not provide additional information. The train had 243 passengers and 12 crew members, Amtrak said.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol official confirmed multiple fatalities but did not provide a specific number, the Daily Beast reported.

Eric McKenzie, the superintendent with Charlton County Ambulance Service, told CNN that there were multiple fatalities and that at least 50 people were injured. (Read more from “Multiple Dead, at Least 50 Injured After Amtrak Train Carrying 243 Passengers Derails” HERE)

Supreme Court Denies Appeal Over Law Licenses From Gun-Waving Missouri Couple

The Supreme Court denied a bid by a Missouri couple who potentially face indefinite suspension of their law licenses after they carried guns outside their home as protesters for racial justice marched in summer 2020.

Mark McCloskey, a personal injury attorney and GOP candidate for Senate in Missouri, along with his wife Patricia McCloskey, drew headlines two years ago after they held firearms on their front lawn amid a protest over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

People participating in the protest had entered the neighborhood of the McCloskeys’, located near the home of the St. Louis mayor at the time.

The husband and wife pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in June over the incident. While Missouri Gov. Mike Parson gave a pardon to the couple last year, the state office responsible for investigating misconduct by attorneys sought to suspend their law licenses. Judge Rules Local Missouri COVID-19 Orders Unconstitutional

A circuit court judge has declared a Missouri law that enables local health departments to issue public health orders unconstitutional and is ordering officials to lift such rules.

The ruling by Cole County Judge Daniel Green calls into question the future of mask mandates and other local health orders created to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

“Missouri’s local health authorities have grown accustomed to issuing edicts and coercing compliance,” Green wrote in his ruling. “It is far past time for this unconstitutional conduct to stop.”

The judge’s ruling comes in a lawsuit that a group of St. Louis-area residents and business owners filed against the state Department of Health and Senior Services to challenge such orders.

The Missouri law in question allows state health officials or local health departments to “create and enforce orders” to limit the spread of disease. Green ruled that the law violates the state’s constitution, which gives separate powers to different branches of government, and that elected officials should be the ones to issue such mandates. Governor Considering Unemployment for People Fired for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccines

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said his administration is considering providing unemployment benefits for individuals who are fired over federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

“You see what Iowa just did,” Parson told news outlet The Center Square on Thursday. “I think we want to make sure civil rights or civil liberties are being exercised. If somebody has [a] religious conviction, we want to make sure that’s upheld … whatever that takes. And if it’s for health reasons, we want to include that, too.”

The Republican governor was referring to Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on Oct. 29 having signed a bill that guarantees state workers who are trying to obtain a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine the ability to get unemployment benefits if they’re fired for refusing the vaccine.

Parson stopped short of guaranteeing unemployment benefits for those who lost their jobs only because they declined vaccinations.

“If those people are going to lose their jobs, which I don’t think they should … but evidently there’s a little bit of a problem as to what everybody’s view is on those civil rights issues,” Parson said. “So we want to be prepared for that if they go down that road.” (Read more from “Governor Considering Unemployment for People Fired for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccines” HERE)

Hate Hoax: Racist Graffiti at High School That Ignited a Mass Walkout Was Done by a Black Student

Racist graffiti painted in a Missouri high school bathroom sparked a student walkout last week, but now the school district revealed that the perpetrator was a black student.

Racist graffiti was spray-painted in the boys’ bathroom at Parkway Central High School in suburban St. Louis on Sept. 22. The graffiti said, “HOPE ALL BLACK PEOPLE DIE,” and also used the N-word. . .

However, an investigation revealed that the racist graffiti was a hate hoax after a black student admitted to carrying out the incendiary act.

“The student responsible is not white,” Keith Marty, Superintendent of Parkway Schools, said Tuesday in a statement. “This does not diminish the hurt it caused or the negative impact it has had on our entire community.”

“The student is facing severe disciplinary consequences and referral to law enforcement for investigation,” the letter read. “Parkway will continue to hold students responsible for any behavior that threatens or degrades others in our school community.” (Read more from “Hate Hoax: Racist Graffiti at High School That Ignited a Mass Walkout Was Done by a Black Student” HERE)

Police Department Set To Have Zero Employees After Chief, All Officers Resign

A Missouri police department will have no employees within the next few weeks after all officers, the sergeant and police chief all resigned, according to local reports.

The Kimberling City Police Department will be left employee-less after the staff resigned, leaving all calls to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, according to KY 3.

“Until then we will be answering all the calls in Kimberling City, we can’t enforce city ordinances, but any other calls we will be handling at this time,” Sheriff Doug Rader reportedly said.

Rader said “it will be a struggle to fill the police department back up with qualified officers” but that he hopes they can “start working on that soon,” according to the report.

Chief Craig Alexander and Officer Shaun McCafferty both resigned after accepting positions with Branson West Police Department, according to the report. Others resigned citing lack of qualified officers, pay, no police clerk and trying to better themselves. Feds Warn Missouri: Your New Law Protecting Gun Owners Is Unconstitutional

The Biden Justice Department is warning Missouri lawmakers that the state’s new gun law is unconstitutional.

The department on Wednesday filed a statement of interest in a court case challenging the law, known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, which bars state and local officials from enforcing any laws or actions that violate Missourians’ Second Amendment rights.

In its 27-page filing, the DOJ argues that the law appears to be an attempt by the state to supersede federal laws.

“It purports to nullify certain federal firearm laws, prohibits enforcement of those federal firearm laws, and imposes civil monetary penalties on political subdivisions and state law enforcement agencies that enforce, or assist in the enforcement of, those federal firearm laws,” the department said.

Officials say it amounts to a violation of the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, which bans states from nullifying federal laws. (Read more from “Feds Warn Missouri: Your New Law Protecting Gun Owners Is Unconstitutional” HERE)

Missouri Governor Pardons Mark and Patricia McCloskey

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson pardoned Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the governor’s office announced Tuesday.

The husband and wife, who gained national attention in the summer of 2020 after brandishing firearms at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their St. Louis home, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in June over the incident.

Video of the encounter showed Mark manning an AR-15 and Patricia holding a handgun to confront the protesters whom they said threatened their lives.

“[They said] that they were going to kill us,” Patricia McCloskey said in July 2020. “They were going to come in there. They were going to burn down the house.” (Read more from “Missouri Governor Pardons Mark and Patricia McCloskey” HERE)
