Nancy Pelosi Names Trump Impeachment Managers

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday named nine managers who will lead President Trump’s second impeachment — including Rep. Eric Swalwell, who faced recent controversy for his relationship with a Chinese spy.

The House on Wednesday will begin impeachment proceedings against Trump for allegedly inciting last week’s Capitol riot. The impeachment is expected to pass with overwhelming Democratic support and at least three Republican votes. . .

Pelosi’s selection of Swalwell (D-Calif.) is a bold affirmation of the embattled House intelligence committee member, who has refused to say if he was romantically involved with Chinese spy Fang Fang. The FBI warned him about Fang in 2015 during his first year on the House intelligence committee. . .

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) will serve as the lead impeachment manager. The former American University law professor is known for his even keel and will assume the role held by the more divisive Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) during Trump’s first impeachment. . .

The other impeachment managers are Reps. Diana DeGette of Colorado, David Cicilline of Rhode Island, Joaquin Castro of Texas, Ted Lieu of California, Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands, Joe Neguse of Colorado and Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania. Mike Pence Says He Won’t Invoke 25th Amendment Against Trump in Letter to Pelosi

Vice President Mike Pence sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Tuesday and stated he would not invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.

The letter, which was released as the House met to vote on calling on Pence to “convene and mobilize” President Trump’s cabinet to remove him from the White House.

Pence began his remarks by reflecting on last week’s events that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol, calling it a “moment that demonstrated to the American people the unity that is still possible in Congress when it is needed most.”

“But now, with just eight days left in the President’s term, you and the Democratic Caucus are demanding that the Cabinet and I invoke the 25th Amendment,” Pence told Pelosi. “I do not believe that such course of action is in the best interest of our nation or consistent with our Constitution.” (Read more from “Mike Pence Says He Won’t Invoke 25th Amendment Against Trump in Letter to Pelosi” HERE)

Laptop From Pelosi’s Office Stolen During Capitol Breach, Spokesman Confirms

A spokesperson for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) confirmed that a laptop was stolen from a conference room belonging to her office amid the chaos at the Capitol building on Jan. 6.

“It was a laptop that was only used for presentations,” Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill wrote in a Jan. 10 statement.

Following a Trump rally and march to the Capitol, the building was breached as protesters pushed past police who were trying to block them from entering the building while lawmakers inside debated counting Electoral College votes to confirm Joe Biden’s victory.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) wrote on Twitter that a laptop was taken from his office during the incident.

Michael Sherwin, the acting U.S. attorney for Washington, said it will likely take “several days to flesh out exactly what happened, what was stolen, what wasn’t,” according to Politico. He noted that “items, electronic items were stolen from senators’ offices, documents and materials were stolen, and we have to identify what was done to mitigate that [damage].” (Read more from “Laptop From Pelosi’s Office Stolen During Capitol Breach, Spokesman Confirms” HERE)

Pelosi Says House Will Impeach Trump Unless VP Forces Ouster

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday the House will proceed with legislation to impeach President Donald Trump unless the vice president and Cabinet invoke constitutional authority to force him out, calling Trump a threat to democracy after the deadly assault on the Capitol.

Pelosi made the announcement in a letter to colleagues, framing it as an ultimatum to Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the powers of the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. If not, she said, the House would proceed with impeachment. Trump could become the only president to be impeached twice.

“In protecting our Constitution and our Democracy, we will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat to both,” she said, and added: “The horror of the ongoing assault on our democracy perpetrated by this President is intensified and so is the immediate need for action.” (Read more from “Pelosi Says House Will Impeach Trump Unless VP Forces Ouster” HERE)

Pelosi Called Military Chief About President Trump’s Access to Nuclear Launch Codes

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told House members Friday that she called Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley to ask what was being done to prevent President Donald Trump from accessing nuclear launch codes, calling the president “unhinged.”

The California Democrat’s move comes after calling for the vice president and Cabinet to remove Trump from office in the wake of his inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol on Wednesday in a deadly assault.

“This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,” she said in a letter to House Democrats. Protester Who Lounged at Pelosi’s Desk, GOP Lawmaker Charged Over Capitol Siege (VIDEO)

The rioter who gloated as he sat at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk — and a West Virginia lawmaker who filmed himself storming the US Capitol — were among those arrested Friday, authorities said.

Richard Barnett — who was caught in a now-infamous viral photo lounging back in Pelosi’s chair in her private congressional office with his feet up on her desk after he and the pro-Trump mob infiltrated the building — turned himself into a local sheriff’s office in Arkansas in the morning, said Fox affiliate KNWA.

Barnett, 60, was charged with federal counts including violent entry, theft of public property, disorderly conduct and entering and remaining on restricted grounds, CNN said.

In addition to illegally entering the building and speaker’s office, Barnett allegedly stole a letter from Pelosi meant for US Rep. Bill Long (R-Mo.). . .

Meanwhile, West Virginia delegate Derrick Evans — who recorded himself inside the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday shouting, “We’re in, baby!’’ — was federally charged with entering a restricted area, the Justice Department said.

Pelosi: Congress May Move Forward With Trump Impeachment

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said during a press conference Thursday that if Vice President Mike Pence does not move forward with efforts to remove President Donald Trump from office, then the House might impeach the 45th president.

Pelosi signaled her support for using the 25th Amendment and floated that the House may try to remove Trump from office via impeachment.

“If the vice president and the cabinet do not act, the congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment,” Pelosi said.

“Yesterday, the president of the United States incited an armed insurrection against America,” she added.

“This is urgent; this is an emergency of the highest magnitude,” Pelosi said. The California Democrat called Trump “a very dangerous person who should not continue in office.” (Read more from “Pelosi: Congress May Move Forward With Trump Impeachment” HERE)

Democrat Congresswoman Tests Positive for COVID-19, Shows up to Vote Anyway

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) won another term as speaker of the House on Sunday, but barely. Pelosi needed every vote she could muster, and votes for the speaker had to be cast in person. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) showed up to vote for Nancy Pelosi despite the Wisconsin representative recently testing positive for COVID-19.

Moore is under fire for putting her House colleagues at risk and others she exposed as she traveled to the U.S. Capitol on Sunday to vote for Nancy Pelosi. Just last week, Moore announced on Twitter that she had tested positive for COVID-19. . .

On Sunday, less than a week later, Moore showed up to the U.S. Capitol to vote for Nancy Pelosi. Moore tweeted just hours before the vote that her quarantine had already ended.

Nancy Pelosi Re-Elected Speaker of the House

Nancy Pelosi won another term as Speaker of the House of Representatives on Sunday, eking out a close vote as the 117th Congress kicked off.

The California Democrat, 80, will hold the position for a second consecutive two-year term and fourth overall, having previously been elected in 2007, 2009 and 2019.

She emerged victorious with 216 votes to the 209 votes of Republican challenger Kevin McCarthy, also of California.

Two votes were cast for other candidates and three lawmakers voted present.

Pelosi was expected to come out on top, though by a narrow margin reflective of Republican gains in the House during the most recent election cycle and a Democratic party increasingly splintered along moderate and far-left lines. (Read more from “Nancy Pelosi Re-Elected Speaker of the House” HERE)

Report: Nancy Pelosi’s California Home Vandalized

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) home in San Francisco, California, was reportedly vandalized with a pig’s head, fake blood, and graffiti, according to reports.

Pelosi’s home had the words “CANCEL RENT!” and “WE WANT EVERYTHING!” reportedly written on the garage door after Congress failed to pass $2,000 stimulus checks for Americans amid the Chinese coronavirus crisis.

Accompanied by the graffiti is a pig’s head and fake blood scattered on the ground. An anarchy logo can also be seen on the left side of the garage door. Photos posted on social media show the vandalism:
