NY Governor Investigates Concert Over Lack of Social Distancing but Excuses Mass Protests (VIDEO)

New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared Wednesday his state’s Department of Health would be launching an investigation into a Chainsmokers concert in the Southamptons over the weekend featuring guests flouting social distancing guidelines.

“Videos from a concert held in Southampton on Saturday show egregious social distancing violations. I am appalled,” Cuomo wrote on Twitter. “We have no tolerance for the illegal & reckless endangerment of public health.”

Cuomo however, didn’t share the same outrage as crowds repeatedly gathered to form massive protests in recent weeks that featured explicit lawlessness and rioting that devastated small businesses already struggling through the pandemic.

While Cuomo called the protests “counterproductive,” there was no full-blown state investigation to track down those who participated in pursuit of government punishment. (Read more from “NY Governor Investigates Concert Over Lack of Social Distancing but Excuses Mass Protests” HERE)

NY Supreme Court Orders Police to Hand Over Private Information About Gun Owners

The New York State Supreme Court last week granted a motion ordering the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to turn over the name, zip codes and license category of anyone who was granted a firearm license in 2018.

The New York Daily News made the request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request process, which provides public information from government agencies to citizens and journalists.

According to the lawsuit filed against the NYPD, the newspaper makes the argument that they should have access to the information because their reporters “frequently cover gun-related political and policing issues.”

The Daily News argues that the information can be turned over because of a state law – known as the SAFE Act – that declared “that names and addresses of all firearms licenses were public information.”

Under the SAFE Act, gun owners have the ability to opt-out of their information being handed over in FOIA requests but their application has to be approved. It’s the information of those that did not opt-out that the newspaper wants. (Read more from “NY Supreme Court Orders Police to Hand Over Private Information About Gun Owners” HERE)

Trump Rips Supreme Court Ruling, Calls New York a ‘Hell Hole’

President Trump on Thursday said he was “not satisfied” with the Supreme Court’s ruling that a New York grand jury can subpoena his tax returns, lashing his native New York as a “hell hole.”

“From a certain point I’m satisfied, from another point I’m not satisfied because frankly this is a political witch hunt, the likes of which nobody’s ever seen,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

Supreme Court justices ruled earlier Thursday that the president is not immune from subpoenas and criminal investigations, allowing Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to seek eight years of Trump’s tax returns, which have been a closely guarded secret. . .

“It’s a pure witch hunt. It’s a hoax, just like the Mueller investigation was a hoax, which I won,” Trump continued. “This is just another hoax.”

“This is purely political. I win at the federal level and we win very decisively so they send it to New York and you know what’s going on with New York — everyone’s leaving and it’s turned out to be a hell hole and they better do something about it because people are leaving New York,” he said. Big Surprise: Murder Rate Skyrocketing in New York

. . .Until now. Over the month until June 7 — including the crucial Memorial Day weekend — New York’s murder rate more than doubled, to 42 murders, from 18 the year before — a jolt of 133 percent. Shooting victims, including wounded, are up 45 percent. Stabbings are up, too.

To be clear: Going back to the early ’90s, New York has never seen a sustained increase of this magnitude. Nothing close: The nearest spike in the early summer month was a short-lived 63 percent hike in 2006, just half today’s increase. And that increase did portend an 11 percent murder hike for all of 2006, the second-highest in three decades.

This isn’t an aberration coming off a good spring. For the year, murder is up 25 percent. If these rates hold, New York would end 2020 with an increase in murders twice as high as we’ve seen since 1990.

And no, it mostly isn’t domestic violence, involving people cooped up. Over the past month, we have seen 13 classic street murders in a few blocks around Brownsville: drive-by shootings, stabbing fights. Over the weekend, 19-year-old Tyanna Johnson died in a Bronx park, likely the innocent victim of a drive-by.

Last week, the NYPD launched its regular “summer-all-out” initiative, flooding 10 high-crime precincts with officers. In the past, this has worked to curtail smaller, more limited spikes. (Read more from “Big Surprise: Murder Rate Skyrocketing in New York” HERE)

WATCH: Governor Promises to Deny Funding for Police Departments That Don’t Pass Race Reforms

Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said local New York police departments must pass race reforms or they will lose state funding.

During a press briefing on Saturday, Cuomo told protesters they “won” by protesting over the issues of police violence and systemic racism, introducing a plan in which communities will implement reforms consistent with their constituency’s demands. . .

“If you don’t do it, local government, you won’t get any state funding. Period. We’re not going to tell you what to do. But we’ll tell you have to go through the process. And you have to pass a law with your redesigned police force,” Cuomo said, setting a deadline for April 1.

Mother Dies During Childbirth From Treatable Condition That Went Undiagnosed Due to COVID-19 Restrictions

A New York woman died during childbirth last month, and her husband said she tried to get treatment for the condition that killed her, but couldn’t because of coronavirus restrictions in hospitals, according to People magazine.

Amber Rose Isaac, 26, died on April 21 when her heart stopped shortly after giving birth to her son, Elias. The child’s father, Bruce McIntyre, called the death “100% preventable” if she had been able to get an in-person appointment in the months leading up to her death.

Isaac began noticing her platelet levels decreasing beginning in February, McIntyre said, but she couldn’t get an in-person appointment despite being seven months pregnant. Her regular check-ups were handled virtually, with her filling out a questionnaire and checking her blood pressure. . .

She was finally admitted to Montefiore Hospital in The Bronx in mid-April after her condition got worse. That same day, April 17, Isaac posted her final tweet — a criticism of how she was treated by the hospital.

Doctors induced labor three days later, more than a month ahead of her expected due date, because she had been diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome. HELLP is described by WebMD as a condition that “causes problems with your blood, liver, and blood pressure. If left untreated, these issues can hurt you and your baby.” (Read more from “Mother Dies During Childbirth From Treatable Condition That Went Undiagnosed Due to COVID-19 Restrictions” HERE)

State Issues Disturbing Do-Not-Resuscitate Guideline for Cardiac Patients

New York state just issued a drastic new guideline urging emergency services workers not to bother trying to revive anyone without a pulse when they get to a scene, amid an overload of coronavirus patients.

While paramedics were previously told to spend up to 20 minutes trying to revive people found in cardiac arrest, the change is “necessary during the COVID-19 response to protect the health and safety of EMS providers by limiting their exposure, conserve resources, and ensure optimal use of equipment to save the greatest number of lives,’’ according to a state Health Department memo issued last week. . .

“They’re not giving people a second chance to live anymore,’’ Oren Barzilay, head of the city union whose members include uniformed EMTs and paramedics, fumed of state officials. . .

Earlier this month, the Regional Emergency Services Council of New York, which oversees the city’s ambulance service, issued a new guideline that said cardiac-arrest patients whose hearts can’t be restarted at the scene should no longer be taken to the hospital for further life-saving attempts. REPORT: New York Doctors Told to Choose Who Lives and Dies Amid Ventilator Shortage

The Medical Society of the State of New York said emergency room doctors “are reporting being told the equivalent of ‘Use your best judgment. You’re on your own'” amid a ventilator shortage that’s crippling hospitals amid the rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic, WNBC-TV reported. . .

“Ventilators as lifeboats are reaching capacity. At this point, the most difficult decisions facing physicians will have to be made,” and that “we will be seeing increasing depression and PTSD that will eclipse today’s physician burnout,” the premier medical group said Thursday, WNBC reported. . .

Emergency rooms have become “inescapable warzones,” the station said, citing a Manhattan doctor, while a Queens physician told WNBC his ER is so flooded that ventilators are being managed in hallways. Other doctors said they’ve intubated their own colleagues, the station said, adding that nurses have walked out demanding more personal protective equipment. . .

WNBC said New York City — now the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in America — accounts for 26% of the nation’s death toll and nearly a quarter of its overall cases. The city had 51,809 cases and 1,562 dead as of Thursday while the state had 92,381 cases and more than 2,500 deaths, the station said.

State consultants said New York will need 75,000 to 110,000 COVID-only beds when the apex of the outbreak hits, WNBC reported, adding that Cuomo said his team estimates the apex hitting at the earlier end of a seven-to-30-day range. FBI Raids Fashion Mogul Peter Nygard’s NY Office After He Was Accused of Sex Assault and Sex Trafficking

By CNN. Fashion tycoon Peter Nygard’s New York office was raided Tuesday as the magnate faces allegations of sex trafficking in a civil lawsuit.

The FBI and New York police executed the search warrant, said Nicholas Biase, a spokesman for the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

Nygard’s spokesman Ken Frydman said authorities executed search warrants on Nygard’s offices in New York and California, and he said his client is “not surprised” by the raids.

“Nygard welcomes the federal investigation and expects his name to be cleared,” Frydman said. “He has not been charged, is not in custody and is cooperating with the investigation.” (Read more from “FBI Raids Fashion Mogul Peter Nygard’s NY Office After He Was Accused of Sex Assault and Sex Trafficking” HERE)

NY Man With 139 Arrests: ‘the Democrats Know Me and the Republicans Fear Me’

One thing is clear: New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and his fellow Democrats have the criminal vote locked up.

“Bail reform, it’s lit!” yelled Charles Barry, 56, on Saturday as he was being escorted by New York cops to Manhattan Central Booking for his 139th career arrest. “It’s the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can’t touch me! I can’t be stopped!”

Barry may be a criminal, but he’s not stupid and he’s not wrong. Indeed, they can’t touch him, which is why, according to court records, Barry had been arrested six times this year. It’s only six weeks into the new year, but Barry was released each and every time, which is why there is no deterrent against his serial subway crimes.

According to the New York Daily News, Barry has accrued six felonies, 87 misdemeanors, and 21 missed court hearings over his criminal career.

Barry was arrested for the latest subway crime when he was caught on Thursday jumping a turnstile. But according to police, he’s done a lot worse than circumvent the subway fare. He dresses up as an MTA worker and then robs unsuspecting transit riders as he pretends to help them purchase tickets.

“I’m famous! I take $200, $300 a day of your money, cr—-r! You can’t stop me!” Barry told reporters, according to the Daily News. “It’s a great thing. It’s a beautiful thing. They punk’ed people out for bullsh– crimes.”

Barry missed two court hearings since December, but that has not disqualified him from being released after subsequent arrests.

Much of the so-called criminal justice “reform” is being driven by the desire to save money on incarceration. But nobody in politics has bothered to quantify the cost to society of keeping thieves and robbers out on the streets undeterred. According to the NYPD, transit crimes are up 35 percent over this time a year ago.

Under New York’s new bail law, if the crime the offender is charged with at that moment is not one of the few that allows the judge to set bail, he must be released immediately, regardless of his prior record. Thus, criminals have an open invitation to continue committing their crimes over and over again. One of the mantras of criminal justice “reform” is the principle of offering “second chances.” The problem with legislation like this is that they are offering those chances to those who’ve already had many chances – in this case, 139.

This problem is not only endemic to New York. Washington state, another bastion of jailbreak policies, is notorious for low bail being offered even to repeat criminal offenders. Recently, a pair of bounty hunters joined KIRO radio in Seattle to discuss how criminals are laughing at the entire process because they are increasingly getting off easy.

“Right now, the requirements that they’re having for people to post bail is a lot, a lot less significant,” said Courtney Wimer from All City Bail Bonds in Tacoma and Everett. “Back when I first started, you couldn’t have 12 felonies and 37 warrants and still get released, and right now I see that on the daily.”

This is occurring all over the country. If it weren’t so dangerous and tragic for victims of crime, some of this would actually be funny. Sadly, it’s the criminals who are getting the last laugh.
