New York Bookstore Closes for a Day to Mourn the State’s New Abortion Law

A bookstore owner in Syracuse, New York, closed his business Wednesday as an act of mourning in response to New York’s new law that legalizes late-term abortions, according to The Western Journal.

Jon Speed owns a store called The Book Scout. He was distraught by the passage of the Reproductive Health Act on Tuesday, as well as the celebratory reactions to the law legalizing abortions as late as 24 weeks into a pregnancy.

“The bookstore is closed today,” Speed wrote on Facebook. “It is a day of mourning in New York. In honor of the thousands of babies that will die in the years to come, we shall not be collecting sales tax for this tyrannical government today. We will on other days, under duress, but not today.”

Speed is a Christian who actively advocates for his pro-life beliefs, including with the production of a pro-life documentary titled “Babies are Murdered Here.” When the law passed, he felt he had to do something. . .

Legalizing more abortions in New York is significant, as New York’s abortion rate was approximately twice the national average as of 201, and New York is a top three state for number of unintended pregnancies according to Syracuse.com. Watch: Woman Claims Young Boy Sexually Assaulted Her, Then Surveillance Video Released

A New York woman is facing significant backlash after she called 911 on a young boy last week, claiming that he sexually assaulted her, when surveillance video of the incident appears to show that he did not do what she claims he did.

Teresa Klein told police that the boy “grabbed” her “a-s” at a Sahara Deli Market in Brooklyn, Pix11 reported.

Speaking to the local media outlet, Klein still claims that she was sexually assaulted despite surveillance video that was released which does not appear to support her claims. . .

Klein claimed that the boy’s mother told her she was a police officer despite video footage clearly showing it was Klein who claimed she was a police officer.

20 Killed in Tragic Upstate New York Limo Crash

Twenty people were tragically killed in a collision Saturday after a fully-occupied limousine car careened through an intersection in upstate New York, hitting a parked car and two bystanders.

A 2001 Ford Excursion limousine sped through an intersection into Apple Barrel Country Store and Cafe’s parking lot, striking a car and two bystanders near the vehicle, New York state police reported in a Sunday press conference. The crash occurred in Schoharie, a small town roughly 160 miles north of New York City.

“This is a wonderful, small-knit community of people who care about each other,” Apple Barrel employee Liz Gallup told USA Today Sunday. “People are coming in, they are hugging, they are sharing. And they want to know that we are OK.”

The two bystanders were killed, as well as the limousine driver was killed, according to state police. All the victims were adults.

GOP Rep. Will Continue to Campaign Despite Being Indicted for Insider Trading

Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) released a statement Wednesday explaining his decision to run for a fourth term for New York’s 27th Congressional District despite being indicted for insider trading charges in August.

“The stakes are too high to allow the radical left to take control of this seat in Congress,” he wrote. “Their agenda is clear. They want to reverse the recently enacted tax cuts, impose Canadian style healthcare, inflict new job killing regulations and impeach President Trump.

According to investigators, Collins tipped his son off about an Australian pharmaceutical company, Innate Immunotherapeutics, failing a clinical trial. Collins was the company’s largest shareholder and he, along with his son and other family members, were able to sell their stock in the company before it was affected. They were able to avoid losing $750,000.

Rising Socialist Candidate’s Bizarre Past Exposed Days Before Election

A socialist candidate for New York’s state Senate finds out on Thursday whether odd revelations about her life story will doom her bid to join the ranks of leftist insurgents knocking out mainstream Democrats.

Julia Salazar’s campaign against Sen. Martin Dilan, a 16-year incumbent in Brooklyn’s 18th Senate District, began attracting attention after fellow Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez scored a surprise win in June’s congressional primary.

But recently, the race has become a soap opera as reporters began digging into Salazar’s background.

Salazar, 27, faced criticism for saying she was an immigrant from Colombia who struggled financially when she was actually born in Florida and had hundreds of thousands of dollars in a trust fund. She was scrutinized, too, over a political and religious conversion during her years at Columbia University, where she transformed from a Republican, anti-abortion Christian to a hard-left, Jewish Democrat. One group revoked its endorsement after learning Salazar hadn’t graduated from Columbia, as she said on its survey.

Salazar said she “inadvertently misrepresented” her history.

Then things really got strange. Reporters revealed that in 2011, Salazar was accused of attempted bank fraud by the estranged wife of a famous neighbor, former New York Met Keith Hernandez.

Salazar was arrested but not prosecuted. She later filed a lawsuit accusing Hernandez’s wife, Kai Hernandez, of trying to frame her because Hernandez erroneously believed Salazar was having an affair with her husband. Kai Hernandez settled the lawsuit for $20,000.

Then, two days before the election, The Daily Caller told the Salazar campaign it was about to publish a story identifying her as a woman who had anonymously accused a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of sexual assault.

Saying she didn’t want to be “outed” against her will, Salazar tweeted about the incident, saying the Netanyahu aide, David Keyes, had bullied her into an unwanted sex act.

Keyes called it a false allegation “made by someone who has proven to be repeatedly dishonest about her own life.” He has since denied allegations by other women who accused him of aggressive sexual behavior.

Salazar says unfair scrutiny has obscured her message that Dilan hasn’t done enough to fight gentrification.

Dilan, 67, said his constituents will stick with him over Salazar, who he described as a pretender and a gentrifier herself.

Source: New York Subpoenas Every Catholic Diocese in the State

The New York attorney general’s office has issued civil subpoenas to all eight of the state’s Roman Catholic dioceses, a law enforcement source told Reuters, as investigations into sexual abuse allegations within the Catholic Church gain steam across the country.

The unidentified source revealed these subpoenas were part of an ongoing investigation into dioceses’ review processes and potential cover-ups of alleged sex crimes committed by Catholic priests, Reuters reported.

“The Attorney General’s Charities Bureau has launched a civil investigation into how the dioceses and other church entities — which are non-profit institutions — reviewed and potentially covered up allegations of extensive sexual abuse of minors,” the attorney general’s announcement read.

New York is among the growing number of states across the nation that have begun investigations into claims and cover-ups of sex crimes in the church.

More have also begun to consider pulling secret and/or decades-old files from the dioceses for review as well, according to The Washington Post.

The Associated Press reported that following the issuing of subpoenas in New York, New Jersey announced a criminal task force Thursday that will look into the handling of abuse allegations in its seven dioceses.

“We owe it to the people of New Jersey to find out whether the same thing happened here,” New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said in a statement. “If it did, we will take action against those responsible.”

The Post reported that New Mexico began its investigation this week, and Nebraska and Missouri may soon follow suit.

Last month, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced the results of a grand jury report on a two-year investigation that uncovered records stating that, over 70 years, nearly 1,000 people, mainly children, had been sexually abused by over 300 priests in six of the state’s dioceses.

The shocking announcement has caused many in the church to demand criminal investigations. According to the statement by New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood, it compelled officials to take action in New York.

“The Pennsylvania grand jury report shined a light on incredibly disturbing and depraved acts by Catholic clergy, assisted by a culture of secrecy and cover ups in the dioceses,” Underwood said Thursday in her announcement.

“Victims in New York deserve to be heard as well — and we are going to do everything in our power to bring them the justice they deserve.”

Joseph Zwilling, a spokesperson for the Archdiocese of New York, said it would be as cooperative as possible as the investigation moves forward.

“Not only do we provide any information they seek, they also notify us as well when they learn of an allegation of abuse, so that, even if they cannot bring criminal charges, we might investigate and remove from ministry any cleric who has a credible and substantiated allegation of abuse,” he said.

So far, the Diocese of Buffalo has agreed to cooperate with the investigation by the New York State attorney general or district attorney, Reuters reported.

Victim hotlines have been set up in New York and New Jersey to assist officials as the investigations begin. (For more from the author of “Source: New York Subpoenas Every Catholic Diocese in the State” please click HERE)

Woman Calls New York a ‘Literal Nightmare’ After What She Saw Crawling out of Her Drain

. . .Bari Finkel and Alex Goulet said they noticed a baby rat crawling out of their drain in their bathroom Friday. While they were shocked and disgusted, they took some photos and posted them on social media. . .

“You see something like that in the comfort of your own home and it takes you back quite a bit,” added Goulet.

“I don’t love the idea that it went back down there,” Finkel said about the rat crawling back into the sink drain.

“It’s a tradeoff for living in the city,” said Goulet. “Occasionally you see a rat, and for us it just happened to be in our bathroom.” (Read more from “Woman Calls New York a ‘Literal Nightmare’ After What She Saw Crawling out of Her Drain” HERE)

Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Changes Misleading Bio After Truth Exposed

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the self-declared “democratic-socialist” from the Bronx, is accused of changing her biography on her campaign website days after she was criticized for misleading voters about where she grew up.

Ocasio-Cortez received national acclaim after she defeated 10-term congressman Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) in the New York Democratic primary last month. She will be running as the Democratic candidate for New York’s 14th congressional district this November and is almost guaranteed to win. . .

As the Journal News noted, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign biography originally stated: “She ended up attending public school 40 minutes north in Yorktown, and much of her life was defined by the 40-minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx.”

However, the sentence was rather misleading. It was later revealed that Ocasio-Cortez’s “girl from the Bronx” moniker was dishonest because her family moved away from New York City when she was 5 years old. They moved about an hour north to the ritzy suburb of Yorktown Heights in Westchester County, one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S.

The website biography has since been updated, but it still doesn’t explicitly state that Ocasio-Cortez’s move to Westchester County was permanent. (Read more from “Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Changes Misleading Bio After Truth Exposed” HERE)

New York Wants to Create Double Jeopardy Crisis for Citizens in Order to Attack Trump

By The Daily Caller. New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood responded to President Donald Trump’s decision to pardon Dinesh D’Souza by calling for an end to “New York’s double jeopardy loophole.”

Underwood released a statement on Thursday, asking New York legislators to pass a bill that was initially proposed by disgraced former AG Eric Schneiderman. That bill would open the door to prosecute under state law people who had received presidential pardons for “parallel federal crimes.”

Trump’s Latest Pardon Has NYS AG Calling for End of Double Jeopardy Law in New York

By The NY Daily News. In the wake of President Trump’s pardon of conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, new state Attorney General Barbara Underwood renewed her office’s call to end New York’s double jeopardy law.

Doing so would allow the state to continue prosecuting individuals even if they were pardoned for their federal crimes . . .

D’Souza four years ago pleaded guilty to using illegal straw donors to contribute to Wendy Long, a Republican who was running for U.S. Senate in New York.

Under current New York law, the state cannot try someone for offenses if they have already been prosecuted for the same act or criminal transactions by the federal government or another state, unless an exemption applies. State Changes Jail Rules to Accommodate Transgender Inmates. What Could Go Wrong?

By Conservative Tribune. New York City’s jail system recently announced a new policy that will require jail officials to make special accommodations for transgender inmates. . .

The policy — set to take effect within the next six months — will allow transgender inmates to be housed with other inmates of the gender they choose to identify with, meaning men who identify as women could be housed in the women’s jail and women who identify as men could live with male inmates . . .

The new policy stems from a 2016 order issued by de Blasio which directed all city-owned buildings, including schools and recreation centers, to allow individuals to use the single-sex bathrooms or locker rooms of the gender they choose . . .

While all that may sound well and good, what will they say when a female who identifies as a male is summarily raped or otherwise sexually assaulted after being placed in the men’s jail?

Likewise, what will be the liberal media’s reaction once a conniving male rapist inevitably claims to identify as a female and is then placed in the women’s jail? This “solution” offered up by New York City to the “problem” of where to house inmates confused over their gender identity appears to be a big can of worms that is best left unopened. New York City Jails to Accommodate Transgender Inmates

By The New York Journal. Inmates in New York City’s jail system will be housed with fellow inmates of the gender they identify with, officials said Monday.

The announcement by Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio and the city commissioner of human rights means New York will join San Francisco in establishing a policy to accommodate transgender inmates.

“Respecting someone’s gender identity or gender expression is key in making sure that everyone in New York City is living with dignity and respect,” said Carmelyn Malalis, the commissioner of human rights. “The fact that somebody’s incarcerated or not doesn’t really change that.” . . .

Under the new policy, the Department of Correction will house inmates consistent with their gender identity unless the outcome of a federally required safety assessment or the preferences of the inmate require alternative housing. A transgender housing unit is an option for some inmates.

The Department of Correction will have six months to implement the policy. (Read more from “New York City Jails to Accommodate Transgender Inmates” HERE)
