New York Woman Facing 25 Years in Jail Over Fake Guns

A New York woman is facing weapons charges after the NYPD stormed her home and seized at least 22 guns from her apartment.

Members of the NYPD raided Elizaveta Zlatkis’ home in 2019 and discovered the “guns.” A later investigation found that 21 of the 22 firearms were not real.

Analysis from the department showed that all weapons were either inoperable or fake, and Elizaveta Zlatkis has said that she lends the fake weapons to rappers and producers to use in music videos or other artistic productions.

She faces a possible 25-year prison sentence. According to the Forest Hills Post, NYPD officers “acting on a tip” raided Zlatkis’ home and discovered the cache of weaponry in her apartment. (Read more from “New York Woman Facing 25 Years in Jail Over Fake Guns” HERE)

NYPD Shrinks Amid Anti-Cop Rhetoric

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is shrinking as officers retire amidst a spike in anti-police sentiment, despite the city seeing crime soar.

“We’re living through very challenging times,” NYPD Chief of Personnel Martin Morales said, according to the Daily News. “We have officers retiring from all ranks, including very tenured investigators and very tenured supervisors.”

Nearly 2,400 NYPD officers have filed for retirement in 2020 as of Oct. 6, according to Fox News. This number is a drastic increase over — nearly double — the retirements at the same time last year, when just under 1,300 officers retired. Between January and May, the NYPD averaged around 200 retirements a month. However, between June and September, retirements averaged approximately 400, per the same report.

Despite the retirements, the NYPD still has more than 34,000 officers, making it the largest agency in the country. (Read more from “NYPD Shrinks Amid Anti-Cop Rhetoric” HERE)

NYPD Line-Of-Duty Injuries Skyrocket Amid Violent Anti-Police Protests

At least 472 cops across all ranks have been injured responding to riots and protests since May 28, department data shows. Officers have been shot at, stabbed, assaulted with rocks, bricks, struck by vehicles and had Molotov cocktails hurled at them, officials said.

Of those injured, 319 cops required hospital treatment and seven, like Lt. Richard Mack, who was badly beaten while making a July arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge, were admitted to hospitals.

“This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” NYPD spokeswoman Sgt. Mary Frances O’Donnell told The Post.

The 472 hurt cops contributed to 7,528 NYPD line-of-duty injuries so far in 2020, up 47 percent from the 5,133 in 2019, NYPD data through Sept. 24 reveals.

“The average person doesn’t hear about the daily assaults and injuries to police officers,” NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice, founder of Blue Lives Matter NYC, told The Post. “Officers are hurt every single day whether in regards to being assigned to routine patrol or a riot location.” (Read more from “NYPD Line-Of-Duty Injuries Skyrocket Amid Violent Anti-Police Protests” HERE)

WATCH: NYPD Arrests Suspect in Attempted Rape at Subway Station in Broad Daylight

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) arrested a man suspected to be the individual caught on video allegedly attempting to rape a woman at a Manhattan subway station, numerous sources reported.

A woman was grabbed from behind at around 11 a.m. Saturday while waiting for a train on the subway platform at the Lexington Av-63 Street station, the NYPD said according to NBC New York. Police on Sunday arrested Jose Reyes, who they allege exited the same train as the victim at the station.

After grabbing the woman, the man threw her down and got on top of her. A crowd of bystanders noticed what was happening, and the suspect ran off. The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries.

“This heinous and horrendous act was interrupted by a good Samaritan who observed and got him to cease his behavior while subsequently videotaping the incident,” Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said according to NBC. Former NYPD Commissioner: U.S. Jews in ‘Dangerous Place in History’

U.S. Jewry is in a “dangerous place in history,” former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said in an interview, and he recommended that the heavy security measures in place for European synagogues be adopted by Jewish houses of worship in the U.S.

He warned that dark times lie ahead for U.S. Jewry — in New York in particular — especially in light of a loss of respect for police officers and massive budget cuts to the police force.

Kelly, who currently heads the Anti-Semitism Accountability Project (ASAP), said that Jewish communities need to be “much more aware about who is entering community premises.”

Kelly visited ten countries in Europe to explore how antisemitism was being manifested and in what ways it was combated.

“Antisemitism there is not new. Neo-Nazis have never gone away, and populism is helping them flex their muscles,” the Jerusalem Post cited Kelly as saying in an interview with Jewish educational group, Limmud FSU. Socialist Rep. Says Plan to Cut $1B From NYPD Does Not Go Far Enough

Far-left New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) slammed New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s (D) proposal to cut nearly $1 billion from the New York City Police Department on Tuesday, calling the plan a “disingenuous illusion” and insisting that “defunding the police means defunding the police.”

. . .CBS News reported that de Blasio announced a plan on Monday for cutting $1 billion from the NYPD, amid a citywide budget crunch and after weeks of progressive activists calling for “defunding police” across the nation following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The next day, the Gotham Gazette reported that the mayor and city council reached an agreement on the cuts to the department, “though nearly half will be through shifting school safety from the police to the Department of Education” by “shifting school safety and school crossing guards out of the NYPD’s purview.”

In response, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez issued a statement, saying:

Defunding police means defunding police. It does not mean tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so that the exact same police remain in schools. It does not mean counting overtime cuts as cuts, even as NYPD ignores every attempt by City Council to curb overtime spending and overspends on overtime anyways. It does not mean hiring more police officers while cutting more than $800M from NYC schools. If these reports are accurate, then these proposed ‘cuts’ to NYPD’s budget are a disingenuous illusion. This is not a victory. The fight to defund policing continues.

Nearly 300 NYPD Officers File for Retirement

Close to 300 New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers have filed for retirement over the last month amid riots against the police and as violent crime keeps surging.

According to figures released to the New York Post, about 272 NYPD uniformed officers have filed for retirement since riots over the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd began in late May. At the same time last year, about 183 officers had filed for retirement, indicating a nearly 50 percent spike in retirements this year.

One officer, who wanted to wait to retire until he hit 30 years with the NYPD, told the Post “It’s an all-out war on cops and we have no support.” More than 300 officers were injured in the recent riots.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has vowed to cut funding to the NYPD and Commissioner Dermot Shea has announced the disbanding of the city’s 600-officer undercover anti-crime unit that was responsible for keeping shootings and violent crime down. WATCH: Police Union Heads Claim Lawmakers Never Gave Them ‘Seat at Table’ on New Reform Bills

Leaders of New York’s police unions blasted the state legislature Tuesday for making changes to laws affecting them in the wake of the George Floyd police-involved killing, accusing lawmakers of “not giving us a seat at the table.”

Nearly 100 union leaders and cops massed for the June 9 press conference under the RFK Bridge on Randalls Island, to address inequities in the way the legislature is dealing with police-related bills. They also expressed frustration with the continuing riots and violence against them, threats of “defunding” and increases in violent crime.

The unions are coming off of 12 days of protests and violence, most of it directed at police officers after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of a police officer Derek Chauvin. While union leaders called the killing “disgusting,” they claim there have already been numerous changes made to policing which has made New York’s officers the “best in the world.”

Pat Lynch, president of the largest of the unions, the Police Benevolent Association, said his officers have been abused and attacked at a time when crime is rising, yet, the city is discussing “defunding” the NYPD and “tying our hands behind our backs.” He noted that there were 40 people shot last week alone, and there were 7 people shot just last night and a total of 10 shootings for the evening; hundreds of stores were vandalized and looted during protests, and cops were attacked with bricks.

Man Charged With Attempted Assassination of Police Officers Was out on Parole DESPITE Rap Sheet (VIDEO)

People like Robert Williams, 45, need to be locked up for life. He is among those of whom Reagan observed that liberals wrongly posit “a belief that there was nothing permanent or absolute about man’s nature” and that by changing his environment “we could permanently change man and usher in a great new age.” Yet he was allowed to remain on the streets despite violating his parole. Now he is charged with attempting to assassinate a group of NYPD officers over the weekend and is still making threats from his hospital bed.

If not for the grace of God, there would likely be numerous dead NYPD officers as a result of two shootings over the weekend in the Bronx, where Williams allegedly targeted cops for assassination in separate incidents. In the first incident, he is accused of walking up to a police van on Saturday night and firing two shots at the two police officers in the van before fleeing the scene. Officer Paul Straffolino was hit in the neck and chin, but according to Police Chief Dermot Shea, the bullet narrowly missed his carotid artery, so he’s expected to make a full recovery.

While police were searching for Williams on Sunday morning, he allegedly walked into a police station on Longwood Ave. in the Bronx and opened fire. One bullet struck Officer Jose Gautreaux in the arm. After Williams ran out of bullets, he threw himself on the floor in surrender, according to police, and officers subdued him. The incident was caught on three surveillance cameras.

Williams was taken to Lincoln Hospital for his injuries on Sunday. According to prosecutors at Monday’s arraignment, he even threatened to target more cops while he was lying injured in the hospital bed. He’s charged with 13 accounts of attempted murder from both incidents over the weekend.

Evidently, Williams’ beef with New York cops stems from an incident in 2018 in which they had to taze him while he was resisting arrest. Which brings us to the key point – Williams had a history of committing the most violent crimes, but was out on the streets violating his parole. This is essentially the story of our criminal justice system, which is regarded as too punitive by liberals.

In 1992, Williams was arrested for stabbing someone during a robbery in the Bronx and doesn’t appear to have served much time in prison. He was arrested again for possessing a machine gun in 1999, but was paroled once again. These liberal cities are banning law-abiding citizens from carrying simple 9mm handguns, yet they won’t imprison violent felons caught with machine guns!

Fast-forward to 2002, when he was convicted for attempted murder after he shot someone multiple times during a carjacking. He crashed the car and got into a shootout with NY police. He was paroled after 14 years, but was again back to his criminal ways. In November 2018, he was arrested for DUI when he was caught driving while high on PCP. He resisted arrest and had to be tazed by officers. He was released back on the streets in January 2019, despite the egregious parole violation.

It’s only due to God’s providence that cops didn’t die over the weekend as a result of those decisions. However, with the growing animosity towards cops and criminal justice fostered by New York Democrats, some police officers feel like they are under siege by their own government. In a tweet following the attacks on Sunday, the Sergeants Benevolent Association, which represents 13,000 current and retired NYPD sergeants, placed the blame squarely on Mayor Bill de Blasio and promised to go to war with him politically.

This comes at a time when DeBlasio has dramatically curtailed stop and frisk and has targeted the Rikers Island jail facility for elimination, thereby further endangering cops on the streets with the release of thousands of violent criminals. This, along with the so-called bail reform, has led to a rise in crime and attacks on cops.

“Good luck and kind words are not enough to keep police officers or the public safe,” said Police Benevolent Association President Patrick J. Lynch in a statement. “Our elected officials need to start listening to us and working with us — not against us — to fix the deteriorating environment on our streets.” (For more from the author of “Man Charged With Attempted Assassination of Police Officers Was out on Parole Despite Rap Sheet” please click HERE)

Officer Injured When He Bites a Razor Blade in Sandwich He Bought From Store

Police are investigating how a razor blade made its way into a sandwich after an NYPD officer was injured when he bit into it. . .

He had purchased the sandwich from a store in Queens called Bon Appetit, and said that he found the razor after he felt it slice through his mouth. . .

Bon Appetit management released a lengthy statement apologizing for the bizarre incident and claiming they did not know how the razor got into the sandwich.

“In our experience, the NYPD officers of the 100th and 101st precincts have been an examplary [sic] example of professionalism and service to not only our business but to our local community in the Rockaways, Queens, and New York City at large,” the statement said.

“[T]he management of Bon Appetit would like to personally apologize to the officer and the rest of the local law enforcement community,” they continued.
