Look Who Ended Their Indoor Mask Mandate…Again

. . .Philadelphia was the only city to reinstate a mask mandate, but it’s gone now. Yeah, it didn’t even last as long as CNN+. The mandate is gone because cases had leveled out. That’s not possible. That’s science fiction. This can’t happen in a matter of days; this is the so-called experts’ own data on the virus which has been disseminated ad nauseum. This is how you know (again) the whole playbook was about the maximization of government power (via CBS Philly):

Philadelphia lifted its indoor mask mandate, but residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to still wear a mask in indoor public spaces, the city’s health department announced on Friday. The Board of Health voted to rescind the mandate.

Further details will be announced during a 10:30 a.m. briefing that will be streamed live on CBS News Philly.

Health officials say the decision to rescind the order is due to decreasing hospitalizations and a leveling of case counts, not criticism from businesses and residents.

COVID Insanity: Philadelphia Orders that Masks be Worn Indoors

Philadelphia will reinstate indoor mask mandates Monday, April 18, as its Covid-19 cases quickly rise, the city’s Public Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole announced Monday.

The city is the first major US metropolitan area to bring back masking requirements after a slew of cities and states dropped restrictions as cases began trending downward in January.

The city will move to its second level of Covid-19 restrictions, which requires Philadelphians to wear masks in all indoor public places, including schools, businesses, restaurants and government buildings.

“Starting today, I’m asking all businesses and institutions in Philadelphia to dig up those old masks-required signs and start hanging them in your windows,” Bettigole said in a news conference. (Read more from “COVID Insanity: Philadelphia Orders That Masks Be Worn Indoors” HERE)

Teen Boy Saves Mother, Shoots Would-Be Robber

The 14-year-old boy stepped in to rescue his mother as a would-be robber was strangling her in a Philadelphia pizza shop where she works — shooting the culprit in the face.

The robbery suspect entered Bold Pizza on the 1500 block of Spring Garden Street around 9:47 p.m. Thursday and tried to reach over the counter and take money from the register, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

With that, a struggle ensued between the robbery suspect and an employee — the teen’s mother — and the robbery suspect “started to strangle” her, police told the paper.

The teen then grabbed a handgun from under a counter and shot the robbery suspect once in the face, police told the Inquirer. . .

Officers found the robbery suspect on the subway concourse and took him to a hospital where he was in critical condition, police added to the Inquirer. (Read more from “Teen Boy Saves Mother, Shoots Would-Be Robber” HERE)

Woman Raped On Train As Bystanders Did Absolutely Nothing To Help Her

A woman was raped Wednesday night on a Philadelphia train while bystanders did nothing to help her, authorities said Friday.

Authorities arrested the suspect, 35-year-old Fiston Ngoy, at the 69th Street Transportation Center after a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) employee noticed the attack and called police, law enforcement officials said, according to NBC 10. Authorities believe Ngoy is homeless and did not know the victim, NBC 10 reported.

Timothy Bernhardt, Superintendent of the Upper Darby Police Department, reportedly said the rape was captured on security cameras and expressed shock that passengers on the train did not intervene or alert authorities.

“It’s disturbing that there were definitely people on the el and no one did anything to intervene or help this woman,” Bernhardt said. “The el” is a reference to Philadelphia’s elevated train line that runs between Upper Darby and the Frankford section of the city.

“The assault was observed by a SEPTA employee, who called 911, enabling SEPTA officers to respond immediately and apprehend the suspect in the act,” SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said, according to NBC 10. “There were other people on the train who witnessed this horrific act, and it may have been stopped sooner if a rider called 911.” (Read more from “Woman Raped on Train as Bystanders Did Absolutely Nothing To Help Her” HERE)

Israeli Vendor Booted From Philadelphia Food Truck Event

An Israeli vendor was yanked from a Philadelphia food trunk event, prompting claims that organizers bowed to anti-Semitism — and leading to a decision to scrap the event on Sunday.

Food truck Moshava said its invitation to the “Taste of Home” event scheduled for Father’s Day was pulled because organizers feared protests over their Israeli ties.

“We are deeply saddened by this,” Moshava said on its Instagram on Saturday.

“The organizers of the event heard rumors of a protest happening because of us being there and decided to uninvite us from fear that the protesters would get aggressive and threaten their event.” (Read more from “Israeli Vendor Booted From Philadelphia Food Truck Event” HERE)

National Guard Deployed in Philadelphia as 1,000 Looters Create Mayhem and Target Businesses

Mayhem has engulfed Philadelphia. No, it’s not because of Dallas week. We had another officer-involved shooting that left a man dead after charging police with a knife. Walter Wallace Jr. was shot and killed on Monday. He reportedly suffered a mental break (via NBC Philadelphia):

A day after he was shot and killed by two police officers, sparking protests and a night of civil unrest in Philadelphia, family members of Walter Wallace Jr. are speaking out, describing him as a husband, father and aspiring musician who struggled with mental health issues. . .

On Monday Philadelphia police responded to reports of a person screaming as well as a report of a 27-year-old male assaulting an elderly female at a home on the 6100 block of Locust Street.

When officers arrived they found Wallace holding a knife, according to investigators. A viral video of the incident shows Wallace, a Black man, walking toward the officers while a woman, who a witness identified as Wallace’s mother, tries to stop him. Two armed police officers back away from Wallace and tell him at least twice to “put the knife down” though it’s unclear from the video whether or not Wallace is holding a knife.

. . .This set off another wave of urban violence, rioting, and clashes with police erupting last night. The National Guard has been deployed, but chaos has already engulfed the city. Our own Julio Rosas is on the ground reporting on the rioting.

Mysterious Jets Over Philly Were Actually Saudi Arabian Aircraft

We’re learning more about the five planes flying in formation Monday night over the Philadelphia and South Jersey area.

A spokesperson for the FAA told KYW Newsradio on Monday that the group of jets flying in formation was a “military operation.” . . .

We now know they were Saudi Arabian aircraft headed back home by way of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County, according to officials at the base.

A Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst spokeswoman says they were four fighter jets and a refueling tanker.

She says they were making a planned stop at the base after military exercises at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. (Read more from “Mysterious Jets Over Philly Were Actually Saudi Arabian Aircraft” HERE)

Philadelphia Recount Finished – Clinton Picks up Only 5 More Votes

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is in for some bad news regarding the electoral recount in Philadelphia — it has earned Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton only five more votes than her original total.

The recount, which began Friday, resulted in the exact same totals for Republican Donald Trump, Stein and Libertarian Gary Johnson.

Stein planned on using district-level recounts to prove to the courts there was evidence of hacking or voter fraud. If true, this would have given her evidence to proceed with a statewide recount.

“We have very primitive voting machines here,” City Commissioner Al Schmidt told the Philadelphia news site Billy Penn. “Our voting system is only vulnerable to individual cases of voting fraud, as we’ve seen. Whenever it does occur it would be someone going in and voting for somebody else or an election board manually adding votes, which is an entirely different thing than hacking.”

According to Billy Pen, the five extra votes that Clinton garnered came from “paper provisional or absentee ballots that were undetected by the optical scanner that counted votes in the days following the election.”

Schmidt said something like this could happen when people don’t mark their choices clearly, or use a green highlighter instead of a pen or pencil.

“People do ridiculous things,” he said, “all the time.”

After abandoning its Pennsylvania recount push Saturday because of the cost, the Green Party filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking to force Pennsylvania to recount the ballots. It said the state’s election system was a “national disgrace.”

“This labyrinthine, incomprehensible, and impossibly burdensome election regime might make [author Franz] Kafka proud,” the lawsuit states. “But for ordinary voters, it is a disaster.”

“In just a few seconds, anyone can install vote-stealing malware on a voting machine that silently alters the electronic records of every vote,” Stein’s court documents add. “Absent a thorough, sophisticated forensic examination by computer experts, it is not possible to determine the absence of malicious software hiding within many thousands of lines of legitimate software code.”

Unless Stein is able to prevail at the federal level, Philadelphia is officially done totaling ballots for the 2016 presidential election.

“The law provides for it,” Schmidt said of the local recount. “And it’s our job to do what the law provides regardless of its merits.”

Stein has also run into trouble with Michigan’s statewide recount after a Republican-controlled House Elections Committee approved a bill which requires candidates who lost by more than 5 percentage points to pay 100 percent of the estimated recount cost.
