Couple Sues Planned Parenthood After Botched Abortion

An Idaho couple that traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico for an abortion is suing two Planned Parenthood branches and a Boise hospital after a failed chemical abortion left them with a living, health-challenged child, demanding the defendants help pick up the tab for their son’s care.

While six weeks pregnant, Bianca Coons and her partner Cristobal Ruiz went to Idaho for an abortion in 2016, the Albuquerque Journal reports. They claimed they were “destitute and attempting to maintain and limit the size of their family” beyond the two kids they already had, and fearing Idaho’s abortion waiting period would “result in the baby being much more advanced in development.”

According to the lawsuit, Planned Parenthood’s San Mateo facility administered the first half of a “medication” abortion (mifepristone, or RU-486), then instructed Coons to take the second half (misoprostol) later. They went home to Boise, where a day later Coons went to an ER for severe nausea and learned her still-living baby had a “strong heartbeat.” A doctor there consulted Planned Parenthood and relayed its instructions to take the second half of the chemical abortion. . .

Coons and Ruiz’s son was ultimately born one month premature, suffering “jaundice and blood sugar issues.” His parents fear he “may carry a defect or injury into adulthood.”

Their suit is seeking $765,000 in damages to offset the costs of raising “an additional unplanned child,” as well as damages for breach of contract, unfair trade practices, consumer protection violations, and emotional distress. Film Industry Gives R-Rating to ‘Unplanned’ Film About Pro-Life Conversion

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gave the soon to be released film “Unplanned” an R rating, citing “some disturbing/bloody images.” MPAA states on its website that the R-rating (Restricted) means that the film cannot be viewed in theaters by anyone under the age of 17 unless there is an “accompanying parent or adult guardian.” The film tells the story of former Planned Parenthood manager Abby Johnson’s pro-life conversion.

“UNPLANNED is an ‘R’ rated film which has no MPAA cautions for profanity, nudity, sex or violence … except for violence directly associated with the abortion process,” said writers/directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, reported Movieguide.

“Ironically, the MPAA seems to be indirectly endorsing the pro-life position: namely that abortion is an act of violence,” they added. They do not plan to contest the rating. . .

“Even more ironically, as a result of the MPAA’s decision to give us a ‘Restricted’ rating, many teenage women in this country who can legally obtain an actual abortion without parental permission will be prohibited from going to see our film containing simulated images of abortion, without obtaining parental permission,” they said.

“We are pushing the boundaries of what has never been before on such a wide scale by showing America exactly what abortion is — and abortion is disturbing. It’s violent,” said Abby Johnson, whose life and true story the film is based upon. “No one will walk away from seeing this movie and say ‘I didn’t know.'”

Trump Cuts Hundreds of Millions of Federal Funds From Planned Parenthood

President Donald Trump’s administration issued a rule Friday to restrict federal funding for groups such as Planned Parenthood that provide abortion referrals.

The rule, first proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services last year, would ban organizations from providing abortions if they are performed in the same facilities as other services financed by federal funds. It would also block funding for organizations that refer women to another provider for the procedure. . .

Supporters say the rule will ensure federal money isn’t used to pay for abortions, while opponents say it would restrict the ability of women to obtain an abortion and abortion counseling. . .

Trump, who has drawn support from conservative voters on the issue, has been raising his opposition to abortion more forcefully in recent weeks. Trump discussed abortion during his State of the Union address this month, calling on lawmakers to “build a culture that cherishes innocent life,” and he also made it part of a recent political rally.

“The Protect Life Rule does not cut family planning funding by a single dime, and instead directs tax dollars to entities that provide health care to women but do not perform abortions,” said Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. (Read more from “Trump Cuts Hundreds of Millions of Federal Funds From Planned Parenthood” HERE)

Shocker: Media Still Trying to Pretend Planned Parenthood Didn’t Sell Baby Body Parts

When CNN recently hired Sarah Isgur, Jeff Sessions’ former spokeswoman, to be a political editor at its Washington bureau, the predictable backlash from left-dominated media types and activists followed. Even the allegedly unbiased CNN newsroom was reportedly “demoralized” at the mere thought of a Republican on staff. No word on how former Obama official, now CNN’s chief national security correspondent and co-anchor of “CNN Newsroom,” Jim Sciutto, felt about the development.

Isgur was accused of holding various right-of-center positions. And when a former political activist-turned-Vox writer claimed that Isgur “pushed Planned Parenthood conspiracy theories that were grounded in misleadingly edited videos,” the talking point quickly gained popularity with Isgur’ detractors.

The alleged proof of this conspiracy theorizing resides in a single retweet of a Federalist piece written by my colleague Mollie Hemingway, praising Isgur’s former boss Carly Fiorina for highlighting a series of undercover videos released in 2015, clearly catching Planned Parenthood executives and doctors admitting to illegally profiting from the sale of the fetal tissue of aborted babies.

The only conspiracy theory attached to the incident was spread by pro-abortion activists and Planned Parenthood apologists, which included CNN’s news division and other major media outlets, who either ignored the shocking videos or falsely and repeatedly claimed that videos of executives breezily discussing the harvesting and illegal selling of baby parts had been “heavily” and “deceptively” edited.

The fact was that Center for Medical Progress had edited the footage in the same manner news organizations always edit footage: they highlight the newsworthy parts of conversations. Unlike most of their media detractors, though, the Center for Medical Progress posted the entire raw footage of the tapes for anyone to watch. Judge Rules That Names of Planned Parenthood Workers Will Remain Sealed

By Townhall. Last Monday, a California judge ruled that the names of 14 Planned Parenthood workers and others will remain sealed during the prosecution of two pro-life activists charged with secretly recording them.

According to an AP report, the ruling was made by San Francisco Superior Court Judge Christopher Hite even though the names had already been published by LifeSite News over the weekend.

Hite threatened to punish anyone caught providing the names. Charges were first filed against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress in 2017. . .

The disturbing videos were first released by the Center for Medical Progress in 2015. They allegedly depict Planned Parenthood executives and workers discussing the illegal harvesting and selling-for-profit of body parts of aborted babies. Subjects in the videos can be seen discussing prices, picking through fetal arms and legs in a tray, and figuring out which abortion methods might work best for obtaining fetal body parts to sell. California Judge Will Keep Planned Parenthood Names Sealed

By AP. A California judge ruled Monday that the names of 14 Planned Parenthood workers and others will remain sealed during the prosecution of two anti-abortion activists charged with secretly recording them. . .

One the Planned Parenthood workers filed an affidavit saying Daleiden has her phone number and texted her in 2016 saying, ”‘I know a lot has happened in the past year, and maybe I’m the last person you want to hear from. But if there’s anything I can do to help you, please let me know.’”

Merritt’s lawyer Horacio Mihet and Daleiden’s attorney Brentford Ferreira argued against sealing the names. Each told the judge they didn’t give the names to the website and don’t know who did. (Read more from “California Judge Will Keep Planned Parenthood Names Sealed” HERE)

WATCH: Trailer for Pro-Life Film ‘Unplanned’ Is Finally Here, and Planned Parenthood Is NOT Going to Like It

The trailer for the highly-anticipated pro-life film “Unplanned: The True Story of Abby Johnson” has finally arrived.

The film focuses on former Planned Parenthood executive Abby Johnson. Once the youngest clinic director in the nation and the abortion company’s 2008 employee of the year, Johnson had a dramatic change of heart and became one of the most prominent whistleblowers in the abortion giant’s history. . .

In her memoir, Johnson recalled the horrifying moment that changed her life forever: “For the briefest moment, the baby looked as if it were being wrung like a dishcloth, twirled and squeezed. And then it crumpled and began disappearing into the cannula before my eyes,” she wrote. “The last thing I saw was the tiny, perfectly formed backbone sucked into the tube, and then it was gone.” . . .

The film stars “War Room” actress Ashley Bratcher, playing Johnson. Appearing on “Fox & Friends” last year, Bratcher revealed that her mother informed her during filming that she was almost aborted. “I need to tell you something that I’ve never told you before. I was going to abort you,” her mother told her, the actress said. . .

“I’m grateful that God, through His providence, planted me here to tell my story — and that I have the privilege of sharing this film with the world,” Bratcher said. “And yes, I do secretly hope that one of the outcomes of all of these ‘coincidences’ is that many will find the courage my mother found when she listened to her conscience and made the choice that gave me life.”

Planned Parenthood’s New Annual Report Shows Increase in Abortions, Taxpayer Funding, and Excess Revenue

Planned Parenthood released its annual report for the 2017-2018 fiscal year quietly over the weekend. The report revealed that the number of abortions the group did this past year increased by over 11,000 from 321,384 in 2016 to 332,757.

Another number that increased in their annual report was the amount of federal funding the nation’s largest abortion provider received. The group received $543.7 million in taxpayer funding in 2016 and that number increased by $20 million to $563.8 million in 2017-2018.

While the number of abortions and the amount of taxpayer dollars the abortion group received both increased, almost every other category of the group’s services went down. . .

While the number of patients is the same, the organization’s excess of revenue over expenses continued its dramatic increase and more than doubled from $77.5 million in 2015 and $98.5 million in 2016 to a whopping $244.8 million in 2017. . .

A notably absent element of the report was any mention of their sponsorship of the Women’s March which was prominently featured in the 2016-2017 report. While the abortion group did sponsor the march this past weekend, it was despite a controversy over anti-Semitism from the Women’s March leaders that caused previous partners, including the DNC and the SPLC, to remove their support. A Federal Appeals Court Just Took a Big Swing at Planned Parenthood

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted an injunction forbidding Texas from stripping Planned Parenthood of Medicaid funds Thursday, while stridently criticizing the abortion provider for its rhetoric and medical practices.

“Planned Parenthood’s reprehensible conduct, captured in undercover videos, proves that it is not a ‘qualified’ provider under the Medicaid Act, so we are confident we will ultimately prevail,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement after Thursday’s ruling.

The case arose after a pro-life group called the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood violating medical and ethical standards codified in federal law and state regulations. Texas terminated its Medicaid provider agreement with Planned Parenthood shortly thereafter, citing infractions documented in the videos.

In turn, Planned Parenthood asked a federal court to restore its Medicaid funding. Thursday’s ruling — which related to a jurisdictional issue in that case — is especially striking for its numerous rebukes of Planned Parenthood. Judge Edith Jones, a Ronald Reagan appointee, delivered the opinion. . .

In another instance, the decision all but accuses Planned Parenthood of breaking federal law banning partial birth abortions. The ruling highlights a CMP video in which an administrator called Dr. Tram Nguyen said doctors at one facility could evacuate an intact fetus — thereby breaking federal law — provided they sign a form that they did not “intend” to do so. Such procedures allow researchers to recover organs like the thymus or the liver. (Read more from “A Federal Appeals Court Just Took a Big Swing at Planned Parenthood” HERE)

Planned Parenthood President Acknowledges the Truth: Abortion Is Indeed Their Core Mission

On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen finally admitted what Planned Parenthood has seemingly tried for years to deny: the main mission of the organization is to perform abortions.

Wen issued a series of tweets in response to a Buzzfeed article about her that ran on Monday titled, “Planned Parenthood’s New President Wants To Focus On Nonabortion Health Care.” Not wanting women who champion abortion to believe that somehow she didn’t regard their wishes as primary for her organization, Wen tweeted, “I am always happy to do interviews, but these headlines completely misconstrue my vision for Planned Parenthood,” followed by tweeting, “First, our core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortion and reproductive health care. We will never back down from that fight – it’s a fundamental human right and women’s lives are at stake.”

Under prior Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who served as the group’s president for 12 years, the group consistently tried to portray itself primarily as a health care provider, ignoring the massive abortion machine it truly is. The organization’s website totally ignores the term “abortion” in its section titled, “Who We Are,” writing, “Today, Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.” In fact, the website’s home page never mentions the word abortion, only referring to “reproductive health care.” (Read more from “Planned Parenthood President Acknowledges the Truth: Abortion Is Indeed Their Core Mission” HERE)

Planned Parenthood Is Accused of Mistreating Pregnant Employees

By The New York Times. . .That includes Planned Parenthood, which has been accused of sidelining, ousting or otherwise handicapping pregnant employees, according to interviews with more than a dozen current and former employees.

In interviews and legal documents, women at Planned Parenthood and other organizations with a feminist bent described discrimination that violated federal or state laws — managers considering pregnancy in hiring decisions, for example, or denying rest breaks recommended by a doctor. . .

At Natera, which sells genetic tests for pregnant women, two former employees, Melissa Blain Johnson and Judit Rigo, said they were demoted while on maternity leave. Ms. Johnson, who has sued Natera, also said that she was left feeling like a “guinea pig” when her boss suggested that she and another pregnant employee pose as patients and get genetically tested by a rival company. Planned Parenthood Employees Accuse Organization of Mistreating Pregnant Workers

By The Hill. Former and current Planned Parenthood employees accuse the women’s health organization of mistreating its pregnant workers in a New York Times investigation published Thursday.

The Times interviewed more than a dozen current and former employees who said Planned Parenthood discriminated against workers when they became pregnant and that some offices fostered a culture that discouraged workers from becoming pregnant. . .

“It was looked down upon for you to get pregnant,” Carolina Delgado, who worked in the Planned Parenthood Miami office until 2012, told the newspaper. “I don’t think that any supervisor had to literally say it for us to feel it.”

One former Planned Parenthood hiring manager who worked in California told the Times that she witnessed supervisors declining to promote certain employees depending on whether they were likely to get pregnant.

The Times said that 49 of the organization’s 55 regional offices do not offer paid maternity leave. (Read more from “Planned Parenthood Employees Accuse Organization of Mistreating Pregnant Workers” HERE)
