Air Guard Wing Commander Resigns Over Abortion Policy, Governor Says

The commander of the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 188th Air Wing resigned late last month for what the state’s Governor said is a protest of the Pentagon policy that pays for reproductive medical expenses, which includes out-of-state travel for abortions.

According to Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office, Colonel Dillon Patterson resigned on December 18 as commander of the 188th Air Wing at Ebbing Air National Guard Base just, just outside the town of Fort Smith on the Oklahoma border.

Sanders announced Patterson’s resignation in a letter sent to President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

“Col. Patterson was forced to personally choose between either continuing his command or adhering to his sincerely held religious beliefs against abortion,” Sanders wrote in a letter first reported by the conservative outlet the Daily Caller. “Because he adhered first to his faith instead of overtly political mandates, he voluntarily resigned his command. I admire Col. Patterson for having the confidence of his convictions, but regret that our nation’s military will suffer the loss of a dedicated airman, leader, and guardsman as a commander.” (Read more from “Air Guard Wing Commander Resigns Over Abortion Policy, Governor Says” HERE)

Ad Blasted for Twisting Jesus’ Words to Support Killing the Unborn (VIDEO)

An ad being used by a pro-abortion organization in Ohio to lobby voters to support late-term abortion procedures there is being slammed for twisting Jesus’ words to support killing the unborn.

The ad also drew the comments of Mark Harrington, the president of Created Equal.

“Twisting of scripture by ‘pastors’ to advance abortion should anger every Christian. We need to turn our anger into action to defeat Ohio’s Issue 1,” he said.

The ad, which is included in Harrington’s commentary:

. . .

“Using the words of our beloved savior Jesus Christ to justify preborn child-killing represents a new low for those promoting an amendment that would enshrine unlimited abortion through all stages of pregnancy into the Ohio Constitution,” a statement from Harrington said. Biden DOJ’s Response to Pregnancy Center Attacks Shows ‘Double Standard,’ Pro-Life Advocates and Legal Experts Say

In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, pregnancy centers, churches and abortion clinics have been hit with a wave of violence, but pro-life advocates and legal experts who spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation raised concerns that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is applying a “double standard” when investigating these crimes.

Over 100 churches, pregnancy centers and their staff have been firebombed, vandalized, graffitied, assaulted and intimidated since the leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs opinion in May 2022, according to a May 2023 report from the Family Research Center. Yet the DOJ has failed to use the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which “prohibits threats of force, obstruction and property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services” and places of religious worship, to charge the individuals responsible, despite going after dozens of incidents targeting abortion clinics, according to advocates and legal experts that spoke with the DCNF.

“We have well over 300 churches, Catholic churches, that have been everything from firebombed, robbed and spray painted, alongside pregnancy care centers as well,” Tom McClusky, CatholicVote’s director of Government Affairs, told the DCNF. “And I believe the only time that the FACE Act has been used is for some people down in Florida and the Justice Department will not verify a [Freedom Of Information Act] request asking how many times has this been used.”

Rev. Jim Harden, president of the pro-life organization CompassCare, which was firebombed by pro-abortion activists in 2022, told the DCNF that he believed “without hesitation” the DOJ’s behavior “is a double standard.” He also noted the recent conviction of a woman, who spray-painted “LIARS” on one of the organization’s signs in New York’s Erie County. Christian Arrested After Police Feared She Was Silently Praying Is Victorious in Legal Battle

After a six-month investigation, police in England have decided not to bring charges against a woman for silently praying outside an abortion clinic.

Police also issued an apology to Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, the director of the UK March for Life, for the length of time it took to reach the decision not to prosecute her for silent prayer. In March, the charity volunteer was arrested after she told police she “might” be praying silently when they asked why she was standing on a public street near an abortion facility.

The abortion clinic was in a so-called “buffer zone,” which was introduced by local authorities via a “Public Spaces Protection Order” and bans activities, such as prayer, that are considered a protest against abortion.

Vaughan-Spruce said in a statement upon receiving the apology from police that she never should have been arrested or investigated for the thoughts she held in her own mind because “this isn’t 1984, but 2023.”

“Silent prayer is never criminal,” she said. “I welcome West Midland Police’s decision to end their investigation and their apology for the time it took to do so, but it’s important to highlight the extremely harmful implications of this ordeal not just for myself, but for everyone concerned with fundamental freedoms in the UK.” (Read more from “Christian Arrested After Police Feared She Was Silently Praying Is Victorious in Legal Battle” HERE)

Republicans Ponder a Replacement for the Term ‘Pro-Life’

Republican strategists are saying it’s time to get rid of the “pro-life” moniker.

In a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans earlier this week, the head of a super PAC allied with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned that polling shows that “pro-life” no longer resonates with the party’s voters.

“What intrigued me the most about the results was that ‘pro-choice’ and ‘pro-life’ means something different now, that people see being pro-life as being against all abortions — at all levels,” Sen. Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, told NBC News, which first reported on the meeting.

The rethinking of the label follows a series of election losses for Republicans following the Supreme Court ruling that ended nationwide abortion access, sending abortion decision-making to the states.

The high court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, the case that overturned Roe v. Wade, shifted voters’ opinions on the terms pro-life and pro-choice, according to the super PAC’s polling. The polling results were shown to the senators in the meeting by Steven Law, a former aide for Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican. Ohio Right to Life Fires Communications Director After Viral ‘Faith in Christ Alone’ Post

An Ohio pro-life group has dismissed its communications director after a Jewish Republican Congressman whose wife sits on the organization’s board criticized her for tweeting that “there is no hope for any of us outside of having faith in Jesus Christ alone.”

Elizabeth Marbach, the now former communications director of Ohio Right to Life, became the center of national media attention this week after Rep. Max Miller criticized her Tuesday post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Miller, who is Jewish, called the tweet “one of the most bigoted” tweets he had ever seen even though Miller’s sentiment is a mainstream belief of Christianity. Miller’s wife, Emily Moreno Miller, serves as a board member of Ohio Right to Life, a state-level group that educates the public about abortion and advocates for pro-life legislation.

Marbach told The Sentinel in a Thursday statement that she was let go from her position with Ohio Right to Life. Internal communications reviewed by the newspaper suggest that Marbach was given the opportunity to resign or enter a transitional period before dismissal but she declined. . .

“Ohio Right to Life can confirm that Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Marbach is no longer employed at Ohio Right to Life,” Ohio Right to Life CEO Peter Range wrote in a statement. “This decision was not based on any single event as some on social media claim. We appreciate Lizzie’s service and wish her the best in future endeavors.” (Read more from “Ohio Right to Life Fires Communications Director After Viral ‘Faith in Christ Alone’ Post” HERE)

Governor Signs Legislation Granting $1 Million In Funding To Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed legislation Wednesday granting more than $1 million in funding to pro-life crisis pregnancy centers.

HB 2002 increases support for families by allocating $1 million in funding to “pregnancy help organizations,” which the bill says must “not perform, prescribe, refer for or encourage abortion.”

Governor Justice signed the bill after it passed the House 31-1.

“West Virginia’s pregnancy centers empower women and impact lives for the better every day,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller. “These organizations provide free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, medical exams, counseling, parent classes, financial classes, and resources such as food, diapers, clothing, and financial assistance for housing and utilities. The pregnancy help centers are engaging in a labor of love.” (Read more from “Governor Signs Legislation Granting $1 Million In Funding To Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers” HERE)

WATCH: Jane Fonda Encourages “Murder” to Fight Pro-Life Laws

Hollywood icon and far-left activist Jane Fonda suggested abortion-seeking women shouldn’t abide by laws and could even resort to “murder” in order to have control of their bodies on Friday during a wild appearance on “The View.”

“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives,” Fonda said. “We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.”

Co-host Sonny Hostin smiled as she said, “That’s the activist,” and co-host Joy Behar was heard responding, “That’s Jane.” . . .

Behar then asked the 85-year-old Fonda what can be done aside from “marching” and protesting the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court.

“Well, I’ve thought of murder,” Fonda said during cross-talk before her “Grace and Frankie” co-star Lily Tomlin asked her to repeat herself. (Read more from “Jane Fonda Encourages “Murder” to Fight Pro-Life Laws” HERE)

House Republicans Rip OBGYN Group’s ‘Outrageous’ Decision to Cancel Pro-Life Doctors

House Republicans decried the nation’s leading obstetrician-gynecologist association for canceling a presentation by pro-life doctors at a recent conference, calling the move “hypocritical and outrageous.”

The five lawmakers led by Rep. Chris Smith, New Jersey Republican, called on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to “end its discrimination against pro-life doctors” after their planned conference exhibit was pulled at the last minute.

“The reported decision by ACOG — an organization purporting to represent all obstetrician–gynecologists — to exclude qualified health care professionals of maternal and child care from presenting at an annual conference because of their pro-life positions is hypocritical and outrageous,” said the Republicans in a Friday statement.

The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists said it has booked a booth for the last 15 years at the 2023 CREOG & APGO annual meeting, but that its doctors were told last week after arriving in Maryland for the event that their exhibit was canceled.

The conference for medical educators is run by the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which falls under the ACOG umbrella. Smithsonian on Legal Notice After Kicking Out Pro-Life Students

On Jan. 20, The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum kicked out a dozen Catholic high school students and their chaperons for wearing beanies inscribed with pro-life messages. Now congressional Republicans are demanding answers.

Representative Chip Roy, R-Texas, has penned a letter along with over two dozen Republicans including Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Senator Marco Rubio, R-Florida demanding answers from the Smithsonian. Senators Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. led the effort in the Senate.

“Does the Smithsonian have any policy prohibiting pro-life sentiments from being expressed in its buildings or any policy deeming it a ‘neutral zone,” the letter reads. “What efforts have you taken to ensure that the First Amendment rights of all Americans are respected at the Air and Space Museum and an incident like this never occurs again under your leadership?”

“On January 20, 2023, thousands of Americans from across the country traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the March for Life. For many participants the occasion was inviting, warm, and educational,” The letter reads. “Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for a group of pro-life Americans from South Carolina. Following the march, students were allegedly harassed by Smithsonian Institute employees at the Air and Space Museum for their pro-life and human rights affirming apparel and were expelled from the building.”

The incident has caused an uproar among Republicans with some calling for the offending employees to be fired and the Smithsonian sued. “This is a DISGRACE. People need to be fired,” Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, tweeted. “This should’ve NEVER happened.” (Read more from “Smithsonian on Legal Notice After Kicking Out Pro-life Students” HERE)
