FBI Refuses to Say How Many Informants Were Involved in Jan. 6 Violence; FBI’s Stunning Answers When Grilled by Ted Cruz Asking if Any Feds Were Part of Capitol Riot (VIDEO)

By The Federalist. The FBI refused to answer questions about the agency’s possible provocative involvement with the Jan. 6 Capitol riots during a Tuesday hearing on Capitol Hill.

“How many FBI agents or confidential informants actively participated in the events of Jan. 6?” Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz asked the Executive Assistant Director for the FBI’s National Security Branch Jill Sanborn.

“I can’t go into the specifics of sources and methods,” Sanborn said.

“Did any FBI agents or confidential informants actively participate in the events of Jan. 6, yes or no?” Cruz pressed.

“I can’t answer that,” Sanborn said, despite The New York Times revealing in September the presence of federal agents within the crowd that stormed the Capitol. Earlier this month, Newsweek revealed in a blockbuster story the presence of secret commandos with “shoot-to-kill” authority. In the hearing, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) asked Sanborn on Tuesday, “How many FBI agents or confidential informants actively participated in the events of January 6th?”

“Sir, I’m sure you can appreciate that I can’t go into the specifics of sources and methods…,” Sanborn began to answer.

“Sir, I can’t — I can’t answer that,” Sanborn replied. (Read more from “FBI’s Stunning Answers When Grilled by Ted Cruz Asking if Any Feds Were Part of Capitol Riot” HERE)

Tucker Scolds Ted Cruz for Calling Jan. 6 a ‘Terrorist Attack’ (VIDEO)

Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday for the unforgivable sin of calling the Capitol insurrection a “violent terrorist attack,” accusing the ultra-conservative lawmaker of “repeating the talking points that Merrick Garland has written.” . . .

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week,” Cruz said in a Senate Rules Committee hearing. “And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol.”

Those comments did not sit well with Carlson, who has led the charge in downplaying the Jan. 6 riots while suggesting the Capitol attack is a “false flag” orchestrated by federal agents in an effort to “purge” conservative Americans. . .

Claiming Cruz “doesn’t use a single word by accident,” Carlson noted that Cruz is a “lawyer” and “every word” the senator says is “used intentionally.” He then mocked the notion that anyone could rationally think it’s an insurrection when a seditious mob violently storms the seat of government to overthrow an election.

“He described Jan. 6 as a violent terrorist attack. Of all the things Jan. 6 was, it was definitely not a violent terrorist attack. It wasn’t an insurrection,” Carlson exclaimed. “Was it a riot? Sure. It was not a violent terrorist attack. Sorry! So why are you telling us it was, Ted Cruz?” (Read more from “Tucker Scolds Ted Cruz for Calling Jan. 6 a ‘Terrorist Attack’” HERE)

WATCH: GOP Senator Had the Perfect Response to a Reporter Who Asked Him to Wear a Mask

The media once again displayed a reason to punch them in the face when a reporter asked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to put a mask on during these COVID times. Cruz refused and had the best response to this silliness. He noted that the reporter could back away if there were feelings of discomfort. Oh, and he noted that he and all his colleagues were vaccinated. When you’re vaccinated, you cannot contract or spread COVID. Who is this reporter and what outlet does he work for?

Ted Cruz Jokes About Cancun Trip at CPAC

Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday joked about his controversial trip to Cancun and bellowed “Freedom!” in a homage to “Braveheart” during a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The Texas Republican’s speech began with a joke about his travel to Mexico last week after his constituents lost heat and electricity due to frigid temperatures impacting energy production.

“God bless CPAC,” the Texas senator began, “I’ve gotta say, Orlando is awesome. It’s not as nice as Cancun, but it’s nice.”

The remark was met with laughs and gasps from the crowd.

The CPAC event, which was moved from Washington, DC, to Orlando, Fla., due to coronavirus restrictions, kicked off Friday morning with remarks from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. (Read more from “Ted Cruz Jokes About Cancun Trip at CPAC” HERE)

Congressional Republicans Introduce National Right-to-Work Bill

Congressional Republicans reintroduced an act Wednesday that would allow employees to opt out of labor union membership.

The National Right to Work Act would repeal provisions that mandate that employees pay union dues as a condition of employment. The bill would achieve this goal by amending existing labor law that allows for the deduction of union dues from paychecks.

The reintroduction of the legislation comes as Democratic leaders signal their support for the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which would drastically overhaul national labor laws. The act, which passed the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives in 2020, weakens right-to-work laws passed by more than half of the states in the country and recategorizes millions of independent contractors as employees. President Joe Biden said he would support the enactment of the PRO Act.

Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) previously introduced the right-to-work bill in February 2019, but it did not come up for a vote in the Senate. Rep. Joe Wilson (R., S.C.) introduced the bill in the House. (Read more from “Congressional Republicans Introduce National Right-to-Work Bill” HERE)

United Airlines Investigating After ‘Source’ Leaked Ted Cruz’s Flight Information

United Airlines is investigating who from the company leaked Sen. Ted Cruz’s flight information last week after political fallout over his trip to Cancun, Mexico, while millions of Texans were without electricity and water during record subzero temperatures.

As the media-led controversy of Cruz’s vacation unfurled last week, some reporters, after obtaining the information from someone at United Airlines, shared pictures of the senator’s flight number, arrival time, and even the fact that he was on the upgrade list for a new seat on the plane. . .

Another reporter testified on Twitter that he was in contact with a “source at United Airlines” who informed him that Cruz rearranged his travel plans to return to the United States earlier than expected. . .

Reports of the investigation by United into who shared the information suggest that releasing sensitive data is a fireable offense. The airline confirmed this to The Federalist after a request for comment but did not answer any questions about the duration of the investigation or possible penalties for whoever is responsible. Someone Leaked Heidi Cruz’s Texts Regarding Cancun Trip to the New York Times

. . .[Ted] Cruz cannot flip the switch and fix everything, but this is all about optics here. And leaving your frozen state for Mexico with your family isn’t the best idea. First, you’re one of the most vocal and visible Republicans out there. You’re going to get noticed at the airport. Second, again, it looks terrible. Fair or unfair—the criticism over this outing was going to be lobbed at Cruz over this trip.

While it doesn’t negate his poor judgment here, there are periphery issues that are disturbing. One is that the senator’s schedule was leaked to the press. The texts from his wife, Heidi, were leaked as well. The New York Times obtained them from folks on her thread in which Mrs. Cruz discussed this outing to Cancun, and invited all who wanted to come to join them since they were “freezing.” Heidi may need to reevaluate her friends:

Photos of Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, boarding the flight ricocheted quickly across social media and left both his political allies and rivals aghast at a tropical trip as a disaster unfolded at home. The blowback only intensified after Mr. Cruz, a Republican, released a statement saying he had flown to Mexico “to be a good dad” and accompany his daughters and their friends; he noted he was flying back Thursday afternoon, though he did not disclose how long he had originally intended to stay.

Text messages sent from Ms. Cruz to friends and Houston neighbors on Wednesday revealed a hastily planned trip. Their house was “FREEZING,” as Ms. Cruz put it — and she proposed a getaway until Sunday. Ms. Cruz invited others to join them at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, where they had stayed “many times,” noting the room price this week ($309 per night) and its good security. The text messages were provided to The New York Times and confirmed by a second person on the thread, who declined to be identified because of the private nature of the texts.

WATCH: Ted Cruz Says There’s a ‘Third Option’ When It Comes to Certifying the Election

. . .Because the Supreme Court refused to hear the various cases that came to them, [Ted] Cruz said it’s why he believes Congress has a responsibility to address the issue.

The problem, in the senator’s eyes, is that members of Congress face two “lousy choices” when they vote to certify the election results on Wednesday.

“Look, we got to vote on January 6th on certification and every member of Congress faces a dilemma. Frankly, two pretty lousy choices: one, we can vote to certify by not considering any objection. If we do that that will be heard by a lot of Americans as saying, ‘We don’t think voter fraud is a real concern. We don’t think these claims should be investigated thoroughly,'” Cruz explained. “I know that’s not what most of us believe. And, secondly, almost all of us don’t want to be in a position where we’re suggesting setting aside the results of an election just because the candidate we supported didn’t happen to prevail. That’s not a principled constitutional position.”

When the Texas senator established the coalition with his Republican colleagues in the Senate, his goal was to create a third option rooted in the law.

GOP Senator Warns: Election Could Be ‘Bloodbath’

Sen. Ted Cruz believes whether the 2020 election is a “bloodbath” or a triumph for the GOP all depends on whether voters are optimistic in November.

The Texas Republican warned that if “on Election Day, people are angry, they’ve given up hope and they’re depressed, which is what Pelosi and Schumer want them to be,” there could be “a bloodbath of Watergate proportions,” which would entail losing the White House and both houses of Congress.

But “if people are optimistic, they are going back to work, they have a positive future, we could see a fantastic election,” Cruz said, which would mean President Trump getting reelected by a “big margin” and Republicans winning both houses of Congress.

“I don’t recall an election in my lifetime where the delta, the spread between those two, was as dramatic as it is,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

Cruz placed blame on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for holding up a long-awaited round of coronavirus relief. (Read more from “GOP Senator Warns: Election Could Be ‘Bloodbath'” HERE)

GOP Senator Says Chief Justice John Roberts ‘Despises Donald Trump’

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz says Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts “despises Donald Trump,” which accounts for a number of the decisions he had made from the top seat on the high court in recent years.

In an appearance on David Brody’s recently launched show “The Water Cooler,” Senator Cruz, an attorney and author of the new book “One Vote Away: How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History,” told the host that “John Roberts has become the new Sandra Day O’Connor.”

Cruz said he agrees with Vice President Mike Pence, who in an interview last month, told David Brody that Justice Roberts has been a “disappointment to conservatives.”

However, Cruz believes that part of Roberts’ pivot away from conservative-minded jurisprudence is motivated by personal hatred toward the president. “I think it is personal,” said the senator. (Read more from “GOP Senator Says Chief Justice John Roberts ‘Despises Donald Trump'” HERE)
