Plastic Bag Ban: Terrorists Care More About the Environment Than Women

. . .As strange as it may sound, the Somali militant group al-Shabaab is actually banning the use of plastic bags out of concern for the environment. . .

According to Metro, Al-Shabaab’s radio station Radio Andalus reported the group’s governor in the Jubaland region of Somalia, Mohammed Abu Abdullah, made the decision. . .

Raffaello Pantucci, counter-terror expert at the Royal United Services Institute, or Rusi, told Metro the move was designed to show the world the group has the ability to govern.

“Other East African governments have banned plastic bags and this ban is al-Shabaab’s attempt to show their people that they too can implement laws and govern like any legitimate ruler,” Pantucci said.

“It’s quite ironic though that the same group has been involved in the banned ivory trade to fund its terror activities across the Horn of Africa.” (Read more from “Plastic Bag Ban: Terrorists Care More About the Environment Than Women” HERE)

Surveillance Video of NY Terrorist Released Immediately, Still Not 1 Image From Vegas Months Later

On Monday morning, a 27-year-old alleged terrorist by the name of Akayed Ullah walked into the underground tunnel between Times Square and the Port Authority Bus Terminal and detonated a crudely-made pipe bomb. Luckily no one but Ullah was seriously injured.

After the blast, which happened at 7:20 am during rush hour, the suspect was almost immediately identified and a profile of him released.

Ullah is from Bangladesh and had been living in Brooklyn. He arrived in the United States in February of 2011 and had a visa. He came in with his parents and 3-4 siblings and subsequently obtained a Green Card and became a permanent U.S. resident, according to CBS news.

“They’ve been bombing in my country and I wanted to do damage here,” law enforcement sources reportedly told the NY Post.

He told cops he was inspired by ISIS, but police don’t believe he had any direct contact with the group, sources said.

Currently, police are claiming Ullah is a lone wolf attacker and they are saying there is no reason to believe any other attacks are forthcoming.

“NYPD will be adjusting and adapting the way they always do. Right now, they don’t believe there’s any follow-up attack immediately planned, but there are still several weeks to go before Christmas, two weeks from today,” said Rep. Peter King.

During the press conference, New York’s governor took to the microphone to blame the internet for the attack.

“With the internet now, anyone can go on the internet and download garbage and vileness on how to put together an amateur-level explosive device,” said N.Y. Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Clearly missing the point and hinting at a possible agenda of internet censorship, Cuomo conveniently ignored the fact that people can also securely and easily send those files to one another via cheap satellite antennas, cell phones, dark web, or any other number of ways—without the evil internet.

Within minutes of the attack, surveillance footage from the tunnel was released which shows Ullah detonate the bomb. The footage from a Port Authority surveillance camera monitor shows commuters walking through a narrow hall on the way to the A, C and E trains moments before the blast, according to the NY Post.

“It’s the guy in the hoodie,” one off-camera voice can be heard saying, referring to the suspect as he enters the frame and the bomb goes off.

It is amazing how fast an investigation can go when the attacker is called a terrorist. If we contrast the tragic massacre in Las Vegas last month with this tragic attack in New York, a telling picture begins to appear.

Within only hours, Ullah’s history both inside and outside the United States was made public. We were informed that Saipov lived in Brooklyn, was a licensed cab driver, and that he arrived in the United States in February of 2011 and had a visa. He came in with his parents and 3-4 siblings and subsequently obtained a Green Card and became a permanent U.S. resident.

All this information was immediately released to the public without anyone having to demand it. Contrast this with Vegas—as millions continue to demand answers to very simple questions about Stephen Paddock—and it is the exact opposite.

It took close to a week to learn that Stephen Paddock allegedly traveled outside of the United States. In fact, it hasn’t been ‘officially’ released at all. We were simply told by CNN, through a confidential law enforcement source that Paddock took several cruises that included stops at ports in Spain, Italy, Greece, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

As the investigation into the New York act of terror shows us, it is quite easy to find out where people travel to and from inside and outside of the US. Why haven’t we been told exactly where Paddock has traveled?

What’s more, as the video above illustrates, Ullah was caught surveillance cameras and this was all quickly published online. However, in spite of the tens of thousands of cameras throughout the Las Vegas area and inside the Mandalay Bay Casino—not a single video nor even a still image from a surveillance camera has been released.

Why haven’t authorities released a single image of Paddock carrying a bag into the hotel? Why haven’t authorities released a single image of Paddock sitting down at one of the many slot machines at which he was alleged to have used his girlfriend’s point card?

Indeed, there was surveillance footage released of Stephen Paddock immediately after the shooting. However, this video was obtained by NBC news—from a different hotel, six years ago.

How is it that NBC was able to get surveillance footage from six years ago, almost immediately after the shooting, and police can’t release a single image of Paddock at the Mandalay Bay Casino during his stay and before he shot himself in his hotel room?

It is ridiculous to consider the fact that most of the information the public has about Stephen Paddock and what went on inside Mandalay Bay has not come from police. Instead, it has come from citizens with access to certain information and leaked to the press. In fact, police seem to want the public to remain entirely in the dark about what happened as they continue to change their story and they actually publicly noted that they wanted to punish the person who leaked the photos of Paddock’s suite to the news.

Department Undersheriff Kevin McMahill noted in October:

There was a question about the validity of the crime scene photos that somebody had leaked. I can confirm those are, in fact, photos from inside of the room; they are in fact photos of our suspect, and as the sheriff mentioned previously, we have all opened up an internal investigation to determine the source of the leaks of those photos to the public.

Why is it that we already know more about an attack and attacker that happened this morning than we do about an attack and an attacker that happened over two months ago? If authorities want to dispel these so-called ‘conspiracy theories’ popping up online, they need to stop changing their stories and release what they know—now. Video of Shooting of Barcelona Terrorist ‘Beyond Freaky’

Spain became the latest European country to experience the evils of terrorism this week, as 16 people were killed in three separate terror attacks, 13 of them on the street when a van plowed into a crowd in Barcelona. Even then, things could have been much worse; CNN reported explosives that could have been used to amplify the destruction the terrorist caused.

Now, video has emerged of what one of the attackers did during the attack in the city of Cambrils, and it’s beyond evil.

According to the New York Post, the video shows the man getting up and taunting police after he was shot, smiling and yelling all the while.

The video was taken by Fitzroy Davies, a judo instructor who witnessed the attack in the Catalonian beachside town.

“It was like watching a horror film, particularly when he jumped back up after being shot and started laughing at the police,” Davis told the Express and Star. “I can’t get that out of my mind. He must have been on something after taking that many shots.”

The video is below. Warning: It is extremely violent.

“We were sitting at the beach bar having something to eat when some girls ran in with fear on their faces and I saw people running down the street,” Davies said. “I got up and saw a guy standing on the grass at the edge of the beach about 25 feet away. He had something that looked silvery over his body which could have been a suicide vest and was holding something in his hand. I don’t know what it was but it did the job. It made everybody fearful and people started running away but I didn’t.”

Davies said that there were 10 shots, but even that couldn’t take down the terrorist — whose other-worldly, evil behavior could only be described with the word “satanic.”

“They were backing off and he was smiling at them as he charged towards them. He was behaving strangely, like he was on drugs,” Davies said. “Ranting and raving as he went up and down the street. Then they fired again and he fell down. This time he stayed down.”

The gunman was one of five individuals killed by police in the attacks in Cambrils, which killed one civilian.

This is a kind of evil that Europe has seen far too often these past few years. Sadly, Spain isn’t even the latest terror attack to hit the continent. Saturday morning, at least two were killed in the Finnish city of Turku after an 18-year-old Moroccan man stabbed them in what police are calling a terrorist incident.

If Europe cannot find a way to secure itself from the scourge of terrorism, the visage of evil will make itself known a lot more frequently — and likely in a more deadly fashion than we saw this week. State Dept Refuses to Block Genocidal Palestinian Terrorist From Entering the United States

A convicted Palestinian terrorist who has previously called for the use of a nuclear bomb against Israel is being allowed to enter the United States next week as part of a Palestinian delegation coming into the country for Israel-Palestinian talks.

Rex Tillerson’s State Department will give a free pass to Jibril Rajoub, the government agency confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon Thursday evening.

As a young man, Rajoub was sentenced to life in prison after hurling a grenade at an Israeli bus in the city of Hebron. Years later, he was freed as part of a prisoner exchange deal. But shortly thereafter, Rajoub was hauled away to prison after allegedly reengaging in jihadi activities.

After his second stint in prison, Rajoub joined up with a Fatah terror cell in the disputed territories. Rajoub was deported to Lebanon after leading operations in the first intifada, a bloody Palestinian terror campaign responsible for thousands of lives lost. But he would come back for good to the Palestinian territories in the mid-90s as Yasser Arafat’s security adviser.

Less than three years ago, Rajoub promised “in the name of Allah” that a Palestinian government would commit a nuclear holocaust against Israel if they were ever granted nuclear weapons. He added during the television interview: “We the Palestinians are a source of concern for Israel. We are in this country, and this country is ours. They are our enemy and our battle is against them.”

In 2015, on state television, Rajoub encouraged fellow Palestinians to slaughter Israelis, expressing gratitude for “whoever confronts, fights or dies as a Martyr.”

And just a couple of weeks ago, Rajoub celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring female suicide bombers responsible for the murder of countless innocents.

In a letter sent to Secretary Tillerson this week, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) strongly advised against Rajoub being allowed to enter the country, noting he has “promoted Palestinian terror for years and most actively promoted terror during the 2015-2016 terror wave, in which 40 people were murdered and over 500 were wounded.”

If he enters the United States, PMW has called upon the U.S. to prosecute him for “incitement to murder American citizens.” Several Americans have been killed in Palestinian terror campaigns that Rajoub may have had his hand in, the organization claims.

Despite all of the public evidence documenting Rajoub’s advocacy for genocidal terror, Tillerson’s State Department has taken to defending the Palestinian leader.

“The U.S. government does not endorse every statement Mr. Rajoub has made, but he has long been involved in Middle East peace efforts, and has publicly supported a peaceful, non-violent solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” a State official told the Washington Free Beacon.

“Perhaps a man who threw a grenade at a bus, sentenced to life, and then has been re-arrested multiple times after subsequent early releases hasn’t really reformed?” said Dr. Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute, in a piece for Commentary Magazine questioning Tillerson’s decision to let Rajoub enter the country. “Perhaps Rajoub’s vehement opposition as head of the Palestinian Olympic Committee to a moment of silence for the Israeli athletes murdered during the 1972 Munich Olympics suggests that he really hasn’t embraced the spirit of peace or truly rejected terrorism?”

Rubin continues, calling the decision an “insult to every American victim of terrorism.”

Secretary Rex Tillerson is allowing a man with genocidal ambitions, who has created countless victims from his terror campaigns, into the country. As someone who has the complete authority to block Rajoub’s entry, why Tillerson is giving this terrorist a free pass is puzzling. Confronting Terrorism Is Every American’s Responsibility

Wednesday’s terrorist attack near Parliament in London—on the one-year anniversary of the Brussels airport attack—is a vivid reminder not only of the enduring nature of post-9/11 terrorism, but of how the threat continues to evolve.

Despite steady Islamist goals for high-profile attacks on Western targets and the continuing risk to airlines and other transportation modes, the norm for the near term will likely be small groups of jihadists and solo terrorists using unsophisticated weapons (including knives, machetes, and vehicles) to attack indiscriminately.

This type of threat will only grow in our homeland in 2017—not in spite of our overseas success in fighting the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, but because of it.

Although far from over, the battle to liberate Mosul from ISIS will ultimately prevail, as will the inevitable follow-on fight to free Raqqa. Understandably, many people see those goals as the end of the road for ISIS. What could possibly be next?

This mindset, however, overlooks the nature of the war that the enemy intends to fight. This discussion must look beyond the borders of Iraq and Syria toward the broader region, and to the West.

Indeed, the war today is global: No matter how protected we Americans consider ourselves, guarded by two major oceans on each coast, geography’s shield has in fact weakened in the 21st century. Walls or no walls, America remains vulnerable.

Ordinary Americans should prepare now to better confront ISIS and similarly-inspired fighters, at an amount loosely proportional to the expanding degree of our military victories overseas.

As ISIS loses territory, and as thousands of its fighters flee Mosul, Raqqa, and other sites in the coming months, many potential ISIS recruits who already live in the West will seek out targets here that are more readily available.

The most recent U.K. attack illustrates this, and although Western Europe is an easy target, the United States remains at the top of ISIS’ list of targets.

Understanding this, ordinary Americans should take three basic steps to confront the coming threat.

First, know the enemy and discuss them openly.

It’s easy to remain numb to the nebulous risk from ISIS or al-Qaeda after more than a decade and a half of conflict with Islamists, most of it being seen only on television and in lands far away.

Yet every town in America is just one news cycle away from becoming the next London, Paris, San Bernardino, or Orlando. Learn about what the enemy plans to do and how they plan to do it.

If you haven’t looked at any of their English-language online magazines, consider doing so. Much of their propaganda is indeed grisly and horrific, but some of it is useful for understanding the kind of evil we are facing, and the kind of vigilance it will take to confront it.

Consider one sobering example from ISIS’ magazine, Rumiyah:

… the blood of the disbelievers is halal, and killing them is a form of worship to Allah … This includes the businessman riding to work in a taxicab, the young adults (post-pubescent ‘children’) engaged in sports activities in the park, and the old man waiting in line to buy a sandwich. Indeed, even the blood of the [infidel] street vendor selling flowers to those passing by is halal to be shed—and striking terror into the hearts of all disbelievers is a Muslim’s duty.

Such calls to violence are indeed unnerving, but they should sober us to the threats we face. Although jihadists’ justification for the murder of civilians is not new, these texts also describe recommended tactics and other specifics worth knowing. The first step is to understand that threat, and to discuss it.

Second, when it comes to anticipating ISIS, al-Qaeda, and similar threats, think outside the box.

Don’t think of potential terrorists strictly as “military-aged males” anymore. Today they can come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and sexes.

Just two months ago, female combatants engaged Navy SEALs with automatic weapons in the well-publicized Yemen raid. Young terrorists have been observed for years, as The Washington Post also confirmed in a recent story titled “The Islamic State’s New Threat: Child Terrorists.”

ISIS’ “cubs of the Islamic State” indoctrination program is well-documented, and the list of child terrorist acts is long and growing: a knife attack on a police officer in Hannover by a 15-year-old girl in February 2016, a 16-year-old girl plotting a bomb attack who was arrested last month in France, not to mention the dozens of horrific acts committed by ISIS-led children such as the shooting and decapitating of prisoners.

According to the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, between September 2014 and the end of 2016, there were “34 teen or pre-teen plots in seven countries [including the U.S.], with civilians most commonly targeted and knives repeatedly the weapon of choice.”

Many experts also warn that children of ISIS fighters are one of the biggest future threats.

If you doubt this claim, consider that “Jihad John,” the infamous YouTube ISIS executioner, eventually unveiled as Mohammed Emwazi and later killed, had graduated from the University of Westminster in 2009 with a computer programming degree … and was just 12 years old on Sept. 11, 2001.

Also, realize that your biggest risk might not be flying on a commercial airline flight. ISIS has excelled at finding unexpected means of inflicting harm and instilling fear.

This also means that the old “run, hide, fight” mindset is becoming obsolete. Consider the value of learning creative defense tactics that could be more useful in meeting a terror threat should it reach your street—and perhaps take a CPR class (British Member of Parliament Tobias Ellwood was the first on scene to administer aid to the stabbed London policeman on Wednesday).

Third, and finally, guard against the potential excesses of increased vigilance.

“Vigilance” and the well-known rule, “If you see something, say something,” have become clichés in our day, but they do have an important meaning.

The attempted vehicular attack in Antwerp, Belgium, this week was reportedly prevented by both civilians and police who were extra vigilant after hearing news of the U.K. attack. Heightened awareness like this on a daily basis has great potential to save lives.

Striving to become better prepared and thinking through potential terror-related scenarios is appropriate. On the other hand, paranoia, xenophobia, and hyperbolic generalizing are not.

We should live between the two extremes of blissful naiveté and paranoia. We cannot be paralyzed by political correctness and willful ignorance, but neither should we be spooked and mentally overcome by the enemy.

Americans must develop sober, informed, and determined resistance to terrorism—both to its attack form, as well as its underlying ideology.

The enemy is plotting and is always on the move. Our military and intelligence authorities are doing their part. Are we? (For more from the author of “Confronting Terrorism Is Every American’s Responsibility” please click HERE)

Rogue California Judge Releases Orlando ISIS Terrorist’s Wife on Bail

A California judge has ignored the government’s pleas to keep Noor Salman — the wife of the Orlando jihadi terrorist who killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub last year — in prison, ordering her release pending bail Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Donna Ryu held the opinion that Salman is not connected to the Islamic State terror group — though her husband killed and injured dozens after swearing allegiance to the group before his onslaught — and did not have radical views, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Ryu also claims that Salman is not a flight risk nor does she threaten public safety.

“I find at this time the weight of the evidence is debatable,” the judge commented.

Prosecutors strongly cautioned against releasing Salman on bail. The government now has two days to appeal the ruling before Salman can be released on a $500,000 bond. If she goes free, Salman will be obligated to wear an electronic ankle monitor.

On June 12, 2016, Omar Mateen — Salman’s deceased husband — committed the worst terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. The Department of Justice claims that Salman helped her husband commit that massacre. She has been charged with aiding and abetting and provision of material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

Salman was involved in several suspicious activities in the run-up to the terrorist attack. For one, she was with her husband when he cased the scene in Orlando. Just days prior to the nightclub assault, Salman helped her husband stock up on ammunition, received access to his bank account, and was added to his life insurance policy.

Additionally, prosecutors claim Salman “knowingly misled” the FBI in their investigation of the attack, which is a federal offense.

Even more evidence has come to light in recent days regarding Salman’s activities prior to the attack. She and her husband racked up tens-of-thousands of dollars in credit card purchases days before the shooting, the Associated Press reported.

Orlando Chief of Police John Mina expressed his extreme disappointment with the unilateral actions taken by the rogue justice in California.

Omar Mateen’s Wife Arrested for Aiding TERROR. So STOP with the Word Games, Media!

Earlier today the FBI announced the arrest of the widow of jihadi Omar Mateen, the man who ruthlessly killed innocent Americans — in the name of Islam — at the Pulse night club in Orlando, Florida. Noor Salman has been arrested on charges of aiding her husband in the planning of the jihadist attack. There’s one key point that the mainstream media has been leaving out of their headlines about the arrest. That’s right, instead of the headlines identifying Mateen as a jihadi, or even terrorist, they all scream some version of “mass shooter.”

Mateen’s wife was charged with “aiding & abetting the attempted provision of material support to a foreign terrorist organization.”

These are terrorism, not “shooting” charges.

Nevertheless, here is the how the New York Times reported it via headline.

nyt shooter vs terror

Here’s the CBS News headline.

cbs shooter vs terror

There are countless other stories that have some variation of the headline “mass shooter” instead of “jihadi” or “terrorist,” and this is nothing new. The American media has always preferred to keep the motive out of headlines regarding jihadi attacks so that they can push another narrative. This, purposeful headline writing is a subject we’ve covered extensively here at Conservative Review.

The word “shooter” is purposely used to push a gun control narrative. CR’s Chris Pandolfo wrote about the difference in coverage of foreign jihadi attacks by American news outfits compared to jihadi attacks on U.S. soil. Pandolfo also highlighted the difference in coverage of the Orlando ISIS inspired jihadi attack.

Other conservative writers have also pointed this out. Here’s what Charles C. W. Cooke tweeted at the time.

New York Times reporter Adam Goldman also took to Twitter to remind us all about his puff piece on Mateen’s wife.

The main stream media has made a lot of noise recently about “fake news.” There has also been pushback on misleading headlines.

In this fast paced, 24/7 social media culture, people do often just read headlines. The MSM knows this and uses it to their advantage when pushing a narrative. Today’s headlines are just another example. (For more from the author of “Omar Mateen’s Wife Arrested for Aiding TERROR. So STOP with the Word Games, Media!” please click HERE)

Suspect in New York, New Jersey Bombings Charged With Shooting Officer, Awaits Federal Charges

The Afghan immigrant who authorities believe planted bombs in New Jersey and New York this weekend was captured Monday after a dramatic gun battle with police that sparked when officers found him sleeping in the doorway of a bar.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was charged late Monday in Union County with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer. He was being held on $5.2 million bail and remained at a hospital. It wasn’t known if Rahami had an attorney, as messages left with phone numbers listed for family members by the Associated Press weren’t returned. Federal charges in the bombings have yet to be filed.

Rahami is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was identified as the primary person of interest in the Saturday night blast in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, an explosion in New Jersey’s Seaside Park on Saturday morning and a foiled bomb attack Sunday night near a train station in Elizabeth, NJ.

The hunt for the alleged bomber turned out to be brief. A bar owner in Linden, NJ spotted a man sleeping in his doorway Monday morning and called police. An officer confronted the man around 10:45 a.m., and soon recognized the person as Rahami, officials said. Rahami pulled out a gun and shot the officer, identified by the Linden mayor’s office as Angel Padilla, in the abdomen. Padilla was wearing a bulletproof vest.

A second police officer, identified as Investigator Pete Hammer, had a bullet graze his head. Both officers were expected to be okay. (Read more from “Suspect in New York, New Jersey Bombings Charged With Shooting Officer, Awaits Federal Charges” HERE)

Report: DHS Official Protected San Bernardino Terror Suspect From Authorities

How is it that a federal official is allowed to impede a terrorism case and face no punitive repercussions? This is what happened in the case where U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services-USCIS (part of the Department of Homeland Security-DHS) supervisor Irene Martin restricted access to five armed DHS agents. The agents were sent in response to FBI knowledge that Enrique Marquez, the man who allegedly provided weapons to the perpetrators of the San Bernardino shooting, was arranged to have an interview (along with his wife, Mariya Chernykh) with Martin’s personnel the day after the actual attack.

At the time Marquez and his wife were likely under suspicion by immigration services for their fraudulent marriage. Authorities later described the intention of the two individuals noting, “They wed so she could obtain immigration benefits unavailable to her as a Russian citizen without legal status in the U.S.” Investigators assert Marquez in return received $200 per month to ‘marry’ Mariya Chernykh (sister to the wife of Syed Raheel Farook/older brother to one of the terrorists in San Bernardino shooting).

So, when federal officials went to USCIS to apprehend Marquez, Martin denied them access to the suspect. Fox News reports on the incident:

It is not clear what disciplinary action Martin could face, but the report last week faulted her for making agents wait more than 90 minutes before she gave them access to related files on the suspected terrorist, and then she dismissively ordered them to hand copy files, according to the federal report. Agents told building security they intended to arrest Marquez to prevent him from killing anyone, but Martin had them wait 30 minutes just to see her. When questioned by IG investigators later, Martin repeatedly changed her story and also contradicted what other witnesses said.

Orlando Jihadist Worked for World’s Largest Security Firm, Interviewed Repeatedly by FBI

Federal officials are now admitting Orlando Terrorist Attacker Omar Mateen was a known entity to them and was previously interviewed in connection to ISIS suicide bomber Moner Abu Salha.

In a press conference, an FBI spokesman says the agency first interviewed Omar Mateen in 2013 after he made “inflammatory remarks” to a colleague. The investigation was closed.

The FBI interviewed Mateen again in 2014 about a potential connection with suicide bomber Moner Abu Salha. The FBI investigation found no “substantial relationship” between Mateen and Salah. (link)

♦ Omar Mateen worked for a security firm under contract to the Department of Homeland Security called G4S. Mateen was licensed as a security guard and also holds a firearms license. G4S, a global security firm with an office in Jupiter. The same company is used by DHS to move illegal aliens around the country.

“We are shocked and saddened by the tragic event that occurred at the Orlando nightclub. We can confirm that Omar Mateen had been employed with G4S since September 10, 2007. We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, including the FBI, as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends, families and people affected by this unspeakable tragedy.” (link)

♦ Mateen purchased multiple guns in the past few days, the FBI spokesman said. When asked why Mateen was able to purchase a gun given the fact he was on the FBI radar for terror links, the spokesman answer he was able to do so because the investigations were closed.

♦ According to the Washington Post the former wife of Mateen says he was not stable and was violent with her. “He was not a stable person,” said the ex-wife, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared for her safety. She said they married in 2009 but divorced after only a few months. She says he was not particularly religious at the time. (link)

♦ FBI and local police are wrapping the search of the home of Mateen’s family in Port St. Lucie. They removed several boxes, along with a computer from the home at 937 SW Bayshore Boulevard. They also searched the three cars in the driveway.

♦ Moner Abusalha, the first Ameerican suicide bomber in Syria, posted video of Imam calling for death of homosexuals. In 2015 FBI investigated connection between Abusalha, who lived in Vero Beach, and Omar Mateen, the Orlando shooter. Mateen lived about 30 minutes south of Abusalha.
