Texas Prepares for Historic Impeachment Trial Against Attorney General Ken Paxton

The Texas Senate will convene Tuesday for a historic impeachment trial against state Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), who is accused of accepting bribes and abusing his office.

Paxton became the third official in state history to be impeached when the House approved 20 articles of impeachment in May. The last time a statewide official was convicted on articles of impeachment happened in 1917, with former Gov. James Ferguson (D).

Paxton’s impeachment has split the Texas Republican Party, as evidenced by the 60 Republican state representatives who joined the 61 Democrats to approve the impeachment articles by a 121-23 vote.

The Texas House approved 20 articles of impeachment, but the Senate will only consider 16 for now after voting to delay consideration of the other four. The articles of impeachment against Paxton include numerous allegations, such as accepting bribes and abusing his office. What We Know About the New Dinosaur Tracks Found in Texas (VIDEO)

A recent drought in Texas revealed more dinosaur tracks in one of its state parks.

Dinosaur Valley State Park discovered a new trail of prints left by two different species this week to add to its 20 miles of tracks already mapped by park officials. When the water of the Paluxy River that runs through the park began to dry up, the tracks appeared. They are believed to have been left behind some 110 million years ago by two theropods: one roughly seven-ton Acrocanthosaurus and a 44-ton Sauropodseiden, also known as a Paluxysaurus.

Tracks were first discovered in 1909 following a flood in the area. The first set was decidedly theropod prints, according to the park’s website, but later, more prints would be found, even that of sauropods. Federal Judge Blocks Red State Ban on Drag Shows in Front of Children

A federal judge blocked Texas’ ban on public drag shows in front of children Thursday.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner, appointed by former President Ronald Reagan, said the law likely violates performers’ freedom of speech, according to a court order. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) challenged the law on Aug. 2, claiming the law violates the First and Fourteenth Amendments, according to the complaint. . .

“The people of Texas were appalled to learn of an increasing trend of obscene, sexually explicit so-called ‘drag’ performances being marketed to families with children. The Office of the Attorney General will pursue all legal remedies possible to aggressively defend SB 12, the state law that regulates such performances to protect children and uphold public decency.,” a spokesperson for Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Planned Parenthood Says It Will Have to Shut Down if Texas Wins Lawsuit Demanding Millions

The state of Texas is suing Planned Parenthood, and the organization argued that it may go out of business if the lawsuit is successful.

“This baseless case is an active effort to shut down Planned Parenthood health centers,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

The lawsuit alleges that Planned Parenthood wrongfully accepted payment from Medicaid during a time when the state was suing to end those funds.

Texas first notified the abortion provider that it would end Medicaid payments in December 2016. The organization sued and got a federal court to agree with it, which allowed it to continue Medicaid. In 2020, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit reversed that ruling, and it was upheld in 2021.

The lawsuit says that Planned Parenthood filed a legal appeal rather than a legislative appeal and argues that all payments accepted by the organization after Feb. 1, 2017, were fraudulent. Mom Used 14-Year-Old Daughter as ‘Human Shield’ After Police Chase

A Texas mom was caught in harrowing video using her 14-year-old daughter as a “human shield” after a high-speed police chase — and even shouting at cops to “shoot” them, according to officials.

Houston-area police initially thought theft suspect Tenescha Selena Henry, 35, was holding a crying hostage in a chokehold during the July 20 standoff and were shocked that the girl was actually her daughter.

“At that point, I 100% believed that we had a hostage situation,” Deputy A. Peters told KTRK. “I distinctly remember her at times saying, ‘Shoot! Shoot me! Shoot us!’” the deputy said of the mom.

“To put your own family member, not to mention your daughter, right in front of that potential danger is just kind of crazy to me.”

The mom had already led police on a 25-mile chase at speeds of up to 100 mph as she made “multiple unsafe lane changes and traveling the wrong way,” cops said.

Woman Shot in the Head, Killed After Husband Flips off Erratic Driver

A Texas woman was shot in the head and killed in her car Monday when her husband flipped off an erratic driver and the man fired several shots into their vehicle.

Paola Nunez Linares, 37, and her husband were driving in Hurst, a city that is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, just after 9 p.m. Monday when she was shot, police said.

First responders found Linares with a gunshot wound to the head and rushed her to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Zane Jones, the slain woman’s husband, said he was driving their minivan when he flipped off a car that was driving aggressively, trying to push his car off the road.

6-Year-Old Girl Forced to Perform Sex Act On Boy While Another Classmate Filmed: Report

Parents whose children attend an elementary school in Texas are demanding answers after they learned that a first-grade girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by other students during class.

On April 19, an unnamed 6-year-old girl was reportedly forced underneath a desk at South Elementary School in Plainview, Texas, and made to perform a sex act on another student while yet another classmate filmed it on a school-issued iPad. According to a statement issued by the district, the incident “occurred away from the full vision of the teacher,” who was then attending to another group of students.

The school apparently learned about the incident the following day after another teacher confiscated the devices of several students who were not performing their assigned tasks. One such device was protected by a password and required the assistance of a technician to unlock. Once the device was unlocked, school officials discovered “inappropriate content,” the statement said. The content is believed to be related to the alleged sexual assault of the young girl, though administrators have not confirmed that suspicion since the incident involves “minors” who “have a right to privacy,” the statement said.

According to the district’s statement, both law enforcement and Child Protective Services have been involved in investigating the matter. By April 27, the teacher had been placed on administrative leave, pending further investigation, and each of the students involved had been interviewed and their parents contacted, the district claimed.

The girl’s family has told a different story, saying they learned about the incident from the girl, not from school administrators. According to the family, the girl began behaving strangely at the time of the alleged incident. Medical Center Accused of Performing Illegal ‘Gender Transitioning’ Surgeries on Children — Texas AG Launches Investigation

Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Friday that his office had launched an investigation into Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin after allegations surfaced that the clinic illegally performs “gender transitioning” surgeries on children.

In 2021, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services declared that gender surgeries on minors are “child abuse.” Last year, Paxton issued an opinion that “so-called sex-change” surgeries and puberty blockers for children constitute child abuse under Texas law.

Paxton shared the announcement on Twitter, writing, “I am launching an investigation into Dell Children’s Medical Center regarding gender transitioning of minors. Gender transitioning minors is child abuse, and child abuse will not be tolerated.”

As part of the investigation, Paxton issued a Request to Examine to the medical center, which requires the institution to answer for the allegations to determine if any laws were violated.

Illegal Alien Who Allegedly Slaughtered Entire Texas Family Because They Made a Noise Complaint Captured by Elite Border Patrol Agents

By Daily Caller. The elite tactical Border Patrol unit nabbed a man believed to be responsible for the killing of five people in Cleveland, Texas, a Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) agent confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation late Tuesday.

San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon said authorities arrested a man believed to be Francisco Oropesa, 38, in Cut and Shoot, Texas, according to NBC. Oropesa, who is an illegal immigrant from Mexico, allegedly conducted an “execution style” killing of his neighbors, Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Daniel Enrique Laso Guzman, 8; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31 and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18, on Friday.

“The U.S. Border Patrol was requested for assistance in the manhunt for the killer responsible for the senseless murders in Cleveland, TX. Members from the U.S. Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) deployed to Cleveland, TX and quickly employed tactics learned from lessons learned from the recent manhunts in Pennsylvania and New York. Working with information provided by intelligence sources, the killer was surrounded and taken into custody without incident,” the BORTAC agent, who requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly, told the DCNF.

“The professionalism of BORTAC and the unit’s motto of Erigere Rapidus stands true in every deployment. Our prayers go to the families and the community of Cleveland, TX,” the official added.

BORTAC agents also entered elementary school classrooms during the Uvalde, Texas, shooting that occurred in May 2022 when local law enforcement waited to take such action. Texas Shooting Suspect: Gov. Abbott, Lawmakers Respond After Four-Day Manhunt Ends With Arrest

Several lawmakers from Texas took to Twitter to praise the efforts of a massive law enforcement task force Tuesday evening after they apprehended 38-year-old Mexican national Francisco Oropesa, who is accused of killing five neighbors including a 9-year-old child in Cleveland, Texas last month.

U.S. Marshals, Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Border Patrol’s BORTAC team apprehended Oropesa, 38, without incident Tuesday evening. He was found hiding in the closet of a home, under a pile of laundry before he was taken into custody.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted: “Great job by law enforcement.”

Sen. Ted Cruz called the suspect a “mass murdering illegal alien” and said he “deserves the death penalty.”

“Thank you to the brave men and women of law enforcement who worked tirelessly to apprehend this mass murdering illegal alien who killed 5 innocent people,” the U.S. senator wrote. Transurrection: Another Left-Wing Capitol Takeover, This Time in Texas (VIDEO)

Left-wing activists have mounted another “insurrection” in a state capitol, this time disrupting a session of the Texas state legislature in Austin, taking over the gallery Tuesday before being forcibly removed by police.

The liberal Texas Tribune reported:

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan abruptly cleared the public from the chamber’s gallery Tuesday, after LGBTQ Texans and parents of transgender kids chanted in opposition of a bill that would ban transition-related care for children.

Phelan ordered state police to clear the gallery just as Senate Bill 14 came to the House floor and as opponents began their chants and unrolled banners in support of trans kids. As bill opponents started filing out of the gallery, they chanted, “Trans rights are human rights.”
