By Enabling Leftist Misinformation, Twitter Helped Democrats and Their Media Allies Peddle Another Russia Hoax

Top congressional Democrats and the corrupt corporate media falsely branded calls for the declassification of Devin Nunes’ memorandum on FISA abuse a Russia influence operation, internal documents from Twitter released Thursday reveal. And while Twitter executives knew the story was false, they allowed the narrative to grow rather than correct the record.

Soon after the then-chair of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes penned a classified Jan. 18, 2018, memorandum detailing abuses by the Department of Justice and FBI to obtain a FISA surveillance order on Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page, #ReleaseTheMemo began trending on Twitter. Within days, Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, issued a press release announcing they had sent a letter to Twitter and Facebook requesting the tech giants “immediately conduct an in-depth forensic examination of the reported actions by Russian bots and trolls surrounding the #ReleaseTheMemo online campaign and how users were exposed to this campaign as a result of Russian efforts.”

To support their claim that the #ReleaseTheMemo campaign represented “Russian efforts,” Feinstein and Schiff cited the Alliance for Securing Democracy, or ASD, and its claim that the hashtag “gained the instant attention and assistance of social media accounts linked to Russian influence operations.” . . .

But internal communications from Twitter made public in the latest Twitter Files thread by independent journalist Matt Taibbi reveal the #ReleaseTheMemo campaign was organic and Twitter had concluded that ASD, the only source for claims that Russian bots and trolls were behind the trending of the hashtag, had used a “flawed methodology.”

“We should have a separate discussion about if/when/how we confront ASD privately with our knowledge of their flawed methodology/dashboard and seek to help them reorient in a more accurate direction,” one Twitter insider wrote after the Schiff-Feinstein press release dropped. Musk Vows to Disclose Censorship Practices and Make Twitter Code Open to Public

Billionaire and current Twitter CEO Elon Musk laid out a time frame for making Twitter’s recommendation code open source and publicly labeling shadowbanning Friday.

Musk is vowing to enact those changes “no later than next month.” It appears to be an effort to cultivate public trust and make good on his prior commitments to the company to make its algorithms open source, meaning available for the public to inspect.

Account status is expected to show whether a tweet or account is being throttled due to violations of Twitter policy. Currently, Twitter notes when accounts or tweets were suspended or removed but does not divulge when content is “shadowbanned” or devalued in its algorithms to curtail the spread of flagged material on the platform.

“Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you’ve been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal,” Musk explained in December. (Read more from “Musk Vows to Disclose Censorship Practices and Make Twitter Code Open to Public” HERE)

It Looks Like There’s More Fallout for Adam Schiff Following Last Week’s Twitter Files Reveal

Last Tuesday, not just one, but two, batches of the Twitter Files were released. In the second one, “Twitter and the FBI ‘Belly Button,'” which has to do with a COVID cover-up, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is referenced further down in the thread based on claims that he asked Twitter to suspend Paul Sperry, of RealClearInvestigations and the New York Post. Though the social media platform initially refused, it did ultimately suspend Sperry.

More has continued to come out in the days since, as Sperry, who is back on Twitter, has spoken out about what was revealed. . .

The Fox News article, by Kristine Parks, explains how Sperry spoke to Brian Kilmeade about Schiff and the first impeachment trial against then-President Donald Trump. When it comes to that lawsuit, Sperry says “we are exploring legal options, including defamation.”

“So, Schiff didn’t like the fact I outed his anonymous whistleblower as a partisan Democrat — he’s a holdover from the Obama White House working in the Trump White House. And [Schiff] also didn’t like the fact that I exposed the whistleblower’s prior relationship with the key member of Schiff’s impeachment staff,” Sperry had also said, describing himself as “kind of a thorn in Schiff’s side,” which made the congressman “angry.” (Read more from “It Looks Like There’s More Fallout for Adam Schiff Following Last Week’s Twitter Files Reveal” HERE)

FBI Reportedly Promised Twitter the Bureau Would Be ‘Conduit’ Between Tech Industry, Intel Agencies

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reportedly promised Twitter it would be “the belly button” for requests from intelligence agencies to the tech industry, newly released documents show.

“Will the industry partners rely on the FBI to be the belly button for the USG? We can do that as well,” FBI Agent Elvis Chan reportedly asked former Twitter Head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth in an email, according to the latest “Twitter Files” installment reported by journalist Matt Taibbi.

Chan was reportedly asking Roth about monthly calls between intelligence agencies and the tech industry led by the FBI, Taibbi said. Chan was reportedly pushing for the State Department’s Global Engagement Center to be included in the weekly call, according to emails shared by Taibbi.

Twitter reportedly pushed back against including the GEC in the meetings because it was “political” unlike the “apolitical” intelligence agencies. Roth expressed concerns about the GEC being “press happy” and said it would be a “major risk” to bring it into the weekly call, Taibbi reported.

Chan proposed a compromise to Twitter and Facebook where the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would serve as “conduits in and out from the USG,” Taibbi continued.

State Department Reportedly Flagged Twitter Accounts for Pushing Lab Leak Theory, Docs Show

The State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC) reportedly flagged Twitter accounts for promoting the lab leak theory of Covid origins, according to newly released documents.

The GEC wrote a February 2020 report titled “Russian Disinformation Apparatus Taking Advantage of Coronavirus Concerns,” with criteria such as blaming “research conducted at the Wuhan institute” for Covid, according to journalist Matt Taibbi’s “Twitter Files” reporting.

Other criteria reportedly used by the GEC to flag Twitter accounts included “describing the Coronavirus as an engineered bioweapon” and “attributing the appearance of the virus to the CIA,” Taibbi said. The GEC also flagged accounts that had retweeted news about Twitter banning the popular blog ZeroHedge after a report about lab leak speculation, Taibbi added. Who Will Become Twitter’s Next CEO After Elon Musk Steps Down?

Since Elon Musk’s announcement earlier this month that he plans to step down from his CEO position at Twitter sometime in the near future, rumors have surfaced about who might become his successor. . .

On December 18, Twitter CEO Elon Musk created a poll on the social media platform asking his 123 million followers if he should resign from his position. Regardless of the outcome, he vowed to abide by the results.

Over 57% of voters declared that Elon Musk should step down. A few days later, Musk confirmed his future resignation. . .

More likely candidates include several people from Musk’s inner circle, such as entrepreneur Jason Calacanis, Craft Ventures partner David Sacks, Boring Company President Steve Davis, and research scientist Lex Fridman.

Jason Calacanis, one of Musk’s closest friends and allies, is an entrepreneur, angel investor, podcaster, and writer. While Calacanis does not hold an official role at Twitter, he has previously expressed interest in becoming CEO, according to a text exchange between Calacanis and Musk. Musk Hints at the Subject of Upcoming Twitter Files

Twitter chief Elon Musk said more “Twitter Files” will be dropping this week, potentially focusing on Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The comment came after the billionaire said Sunday he hoped his followers were having a great first day of the new year and promised it “won’t be boring.”

In response, Bill Clinton rape accuser Juanita Broaddrick replied that she is “waiting… … for #FauciFiles.”

Twitter to Close Office Amid Elon Musk’s Cost Cutting: Reports

Twitter is closing its Seattle offices and asking employees there to work from home amid Elon Musk’s efforts to cut back on costs after purchasing the company for $44 billion.

The company has stopped paying rent at its Seattle office, according to the New York Times, leading its staff to face eviction. Twitter employees were informed of the changes via email, according to Platformer, and encouraged to work from home for the time being.

The anticipated closing of Twitter’s Seattle offices will leave the company with only its offices in New York and San Francisco in operation. (Read more from “Twitter to Close Office Amid Elon Musk’s Cost Cutting: Reports” HERE)

Twitter Suspended a Medical Doctor for Citing COVID Data. He Says There’s More to the Story

Internal documents show that Twitter’s Site Integrity team had determined that Dr. Andrew Bostom was inappropriately suspended from the platform after he cited self-reported data compiled by health officials. However, Bostom told the Daily Caller News Foundation that he received no communication from Twitter despite filing several appeals, and that he believes his five month suspension — his account was reinstated on Christmas — may have been politically motivated.

The retired Brown University academic’s account received five strikes for misinformation, prompting his suspension from the platform, but an audit by the integrity team determined that four of the strikes against account had been inappropriately applied, according to internal documents published by Free Press journalist David Zweig. Bostom said he had “absolutely no idea” why his account was banned, and that he hadn’t received any communication on the four appeals he filed challenging his suspension, even after Elon Musk acquired the social media platform.

“I appealed twice during the summer as this was going on … I was suspended simply for summarizing” data that had been published by the CDC or scientific journals, Bostom told the DCNF. He said his lawyer sent Twitter a “stern letter” regarding the suspension, and while it was briefly lifted, “two weeks later they suspended me again.”

One of Bostom’s tweets was flagged by both a bot and a human, Zweig reported, prompting Bostom to ask why a human was even looking at his account.

“I wish we could get an insight into what this so-called process was, I mean, who are these people?” Bostom asked. He later wondered, “the bot does its thing, but who told the human to intervene?”
