Elon Musk May Step Down as the Head of Twitter

Twitter CEO Elon Musk tweeted Sunday that he would step down as the head of the social media platform if a poll that he launched shows a majority of users want him out.

“Should I step down as head of Twitter?” Musk asked. “I will abide by the results of this poll.”

After less than 30 minutes, the poll had already garnered two million votes with 55% voting, “yes.”

Pro-Free-Speech Christian Rapper Permanently Suspended From Twitter

Christian conservative rapper Bryson Gray has been permanently banned from Twitter, after previously remarking that Elon Musk’s takeover of the platform was generally a good move for free speech.

Gray is no stranger to either bans or controversy, having had songs removed from Apple Music as well as Spotify and YouTube within the last two years, specifically for “medical misinformation” in at least one instance.

The reason for the Twitter suspension is not immediately clear, even to Gray; Twitter did not did not reply to a request for comments on the situation.

“I think I got banned because I called Elton John gay, which would be weird for obvious reasons,” Gray told Blaze Media.

“Elon Musk censors speech more than the old Twitter. That’s an objective truth that people look over because he allowed a few people back on Twitter,” the rapper continued. (Read more from “Pro-free-Speech Christian Rapper Permanently Suspended From Twitter” HERE)

New ‘Twitter Files’ Shows How Federal, State Governments Monitor Americans’ Social Media Posts

By Daily Wire. A new drop in “The Twitter Files” series Friday afternoon shows that federal law enforcement officials were working in close contact with employees at Twitter to censor content.

Journalist Matt Taibbi said that between January 2020 and November 2022, then-Twitter Senior Director of Trust & Safety Yoel Roth had exchanged more than 150 emails with the FBI.

“A surprisingly high number are requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation, even involving joke tweets from low-follower accounts,” Taibbi said. “The FBI’s social media-focused task force, known as FTIF, created in the wake of the 2016 election, swelled to 80 agents and corresponded with Twitter to identify alleged foreign influence and election tampering of all kinds.”

“Federal intelligence and law enforcement reach into Twitter included the Department of Homeland Security, which partnered with security contractors and think tanks to pressure Twitter to moderate content,” he continued.

New Twitter Files Just Dropped

By Townhall. Independent journalist Matt Taibbi — who released the first installment of the “Twitter Files” and kicked off a firestorm of revelations that led to Twitter Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker being “exited” from the company — dropped another round of documents and information on Friday evening.

This time, the deep-dive into Twitter’s internal machinations focused on its role as a “subsidiary” of the FBI. The Twitter Files, Taibbi wrote in his thread of information, “are revealing more every day about how the government collects, analyzes, and flags your social media content,” including how “Twitter’s contact with the FBI was constant and pervasive.”

Just how constant, you may ask. Well, as Taibbi explained, the timespan covering January 2020 to November 2022 saw more than “150 emails between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth.” Of those emails, some “are mundane, like San Francisco agent Elvis Chan wishing Roth a Happy New Year along with a reminder to attend ‘our quarterly call next week.’ Others are requests for information into Twitter users related to active investigations,” Taibbi said. “But a surprisingly high number are requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation, even involving joke tweets from low-follower accounts.” . . .

Taibbi shared a screenshot of an email from the FBI to Twitter seeking action against a handful of accounts, confirming that the federal government was pushing Twitter to act against individual users.

Elon Musk Lifts Twitter Suspensions of Journalists

Elon Musk has reinstated the Twitter accounts of a half dozen journalists who had been briefly suspended for showing how to track the location of the billionaire’s private jet.

The move to lift the bans early Saturday came after Musk faced a firestorm of criticism from prominent political figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff, for suspending the accounts.

The Twitter CEO said he allowed the users back on the platform based on the results of a 24-hour Twitter survey that he posted Thursday night where he asked if the accounts should be reinstated immediately or in seven days. More than 58% of voters urged him to unsuspend the journalists “now.”

“The people have spoken,” Musk tweeted at 12:18 a.m. Saturday. “Accounts who doxxed my location will have their suspension lifted now.”

New York Times reporter Ryan Mac, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, The Washington Post’s Drew Harwell and other journalist’s accounts were reinstated after Musk made the announcement.

What Goes Around Comes Around: Twitter Suspends Multiple Reporter Accounts

. . .Those who got suspended appear to have been disconcerted by Elon Musk’s purchase of the social media platform (via WaPo):

Twitter suspended the accounts of more than half a dozen journalists from CNN, the New York Times, The Washington Post and other outlets Thursday evening.

Many of the suspended accounts had recently written about a dispute between the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, and another Twitter user who had tracked the billionaire’s private jet travels.

Twitter Files Fuel Suspicions That FBI Tipped the Scales for Biden in 2020

The FBI’s coordination with social media companies ahead of the 2020 presidential election, revealed in Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files,” is galvanizing long-held suspicions that the FBI ran defense for then-candidate Joseph R. Biden as his links to son Hunter Biden’s potentially illegal business schemes emerged.

Mr. Musk’s steady drip of internal documents has exposed the extent to which the FBI worked with company executives to moderate content on the platform. It included weekly meetings with Twitter executives before the company suppressed the New York Post’s October 2020 report exposing emails found on Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop computer. The emails refuted Mr. Biden’s claims that he didn’t know about and wasn’t involved in his son’s overseas ventures.

During those meetings, which also included officials from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Homeland Security, Twitter executives were cued to rumors that Hunter Biden would be the target of a “hack and leak operation.”

The FBI took possession of the laptop in December 2019, 10 months before the newspaper published materials from the computer, raising questions as to whether the bureau actively sought to discredit materials they had already authenticated.

“The key facts are: The FBI had the laptop,” said Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican and the incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “Then you’ve got the FBI talking to all of the social media platforms. The whole idea was that the Hunter Biden story was this Russian misinformation operation, but it looks like the misinformation operation was the other way around. Latest ‘Twitter Files’ Reveal Secret Suppression of Right-Wing Commentators

The second installment of Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files” dropped Thursday night and reveals how the social media giant was secretly “blacklisting” conservative tweets and users.

Independent journalist Bari Weiss detailed in a series of posts how Twitter used so-called “shadow banning” to limit the visibility of tweets coming from far-right users.

Conservative talk show host Dan Bongino, Stanford University’s anti-COVID lockdown advocate Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and right-wing activist Charlie Kirk were among the users targeted for suppression by Twitter, according to Weiss.

The former New York Times and Wall Street Journal writer said the blacklists were built “in secret” and “without informing users.”

“A new [Twitter Files] investigation reveals that teams of Twitter employees build blacklists, prevent disfavored tweets from trending, and actively limit the visibility of entire accounts or even trending topics — all in secret, without informing users,” Weiss wrote in a tweet Thursday. Did Elon Musk Spend $44 Billion To Say the Truth About His Son?

Why did Elon Musk, a 51-year-old celebrity entrepreneur who built the largest fortune in the world by capitalizing on the frontiers of science, embark on a $44 billion crusade to bring free speech to Twitter, and with it, a target on his back? Was he motivated by fame (which he already had)? By ego (which every billionaire has)? His desire to leave a political legacy (which billionaires can easily buy)? Or was there a more personal motivation that transcends the obvious reasons at the surface? The answer probably includes some mix of all of the above.

Before Musk took over the company, dissent from the new left-wing orthodoxy — which, among other things, dictated that one can defy biology and “transition” to the opposite sex — was forbidden. The second batch of “Twitter Files” revealed the company engaged in widespread shadowbanning to suppress accounts for whatever the platform’s ideological censors labeled as hate speech. . .

In June, it was reported that Musk’s 18-year-old son, Xavier Alexander Musk, came out as transgender and filed to change his name to Vivian Jenna Wilson in April. In his petition to the court, he wrote that he requested the change because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

Precisely when Musk’s son began to identify as a girl is unknown, but it’s clear that as Musk contemplated a buyout of the blue bird app, issues were brewing in the family. . .

On Monday, Musk may have revealed the true intentions of his digital crusade with a morning tweet.

Musk Calls for Prosecution of Fauci, Teases Bombshells on COVID-19 Censorship

By Washington Examiner. Twitter CEO Elon Musk said more bombshell internal documents about the social media giant’s censorship will be coming “big time.”

The Twitter executive tweeted a meme of Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Joe Biden with the headline “Just one more lockdown, my king,” at 5:19 a.m. on Sunday.

‘Twitter Files’ Confirm Stanford Professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya Was ‘Blacklisted’ for COVID-19 Information

By Fox News.
The second installment of Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files” confirmed that Twitter was secretly “blacklisting” certain users and tweets that did not align with the platform’s left-leaning agenda.

Stanford University professor of medicine, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, was one of many on the platform’s “blacklist,” according to information revealed Thursday by The Free Press reporter Bari Weiss.

Bhattacharya was secretly blacklisted because he “argued that Covid lockdowns would harm children,” and was thus unable to trend on the platform, Weiss reported in a Twitter thread. . .

On “The Ingraham Angle,” Bhattacharya said the suppression of his voice, which questioned much of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s guidance and the COVID-19 policies, ultimately harmed data, children and the American public.

He believes he was essentially silenced because the opposing “arguments were not strong enough to survive the light of day.” (Read more from “‘Twitter Files’ Confirm Stanford Professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya Was ‘Blacklisted’ for COVID-19 Information” HERE)

More Twitter Files Revealed, New Drop Details Trump’s ‘Lifetime Ban’

Bari Weiss released part five of the “Twitter Files” on Monday afternoon, specifically detailing the social media company’s removal of former President Donald Trump, a lifetime ban that was reversed last month after Elon Musk took over.

Weiss’ thread picked up the story on January 8, 2021, when Trump had “one remaining strike before being at risk of permanent suspension from Twitter” and he fired off two tweets in the early morning hours. One, a message to those who voted for Trump in the 2020 election, and the second announcing his decision not to attend the inauguration of Joe Biden.

As Weiss explained, “Twitter had resisted calls both internal and external to ban Trump on the grounds that blocking a world leader from the platform or removing their controversial tweets would hide important information that people should be able to see and debate.” That was a stated position of the company, Weiss pointed out. In 2019, Twitter wrote that its “mission is to provide a forum that enables people to be informed and to engage their leaders directly” in order to “protect the public’s right to hear from their leaders and to hold them to account.” . . .

One conversation Weiss tweeted is from an employee who is “from China” and said “I deeply understand how censorship can destroy the public conversation.” Still, Weiss noted, “voices like that one appear to have been a distinct minority within the company” and “many Twitter employees were upset that Trump hadn’t been banned earlier.”
