WSJ Columnist Wrecks the Democrats’ Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Claims

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel isn’t having any of the Democrats’ nonsense on this impeachment push. Yes, the Democrats have executed the final stages of their three-year plan: impeaching Donald Trump. It’s an inquiry. It’s nothing official…yet. But they’re doing their best to muddy the waters in the hopes that the damage being inflicted could impact the 2020 race by making the president’s already shoddy approval numbers (though I’m skeptical of those polls) even more dirty, making the unpalatable man even more distasteful with voters. Fine—but the allegations against Trump regarding this call he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are straight trash. . .

You don’t need to be an investigative reporter to see that the Democrats have nothing here. That’s why this entire inquiry is being done in secret. And the only saving grace that keeps this impeachment drum going is that the liberal media takes everything Schiff and others say as gospel. So, Strassel does what she does best; gut the Democratic narrative—brutally. She goes line-by-line giving the GOP, Trump supporters, and anyone else who is skeptical of the impeachment push a go-to sheet in exposing this smoke and mirrors show (via WSJ):

Motive matters, but what matters more is the accuracy of the complaint itself. The real news of the past few weeks has been the steady accumulation of evidence that its central claim is totally wrong.

Which shouldn’t be surprising, given how many facts the complaint mangled about the call. It alleged, for instance, that Mr. Trump asked Ukraine to “locate and turn over servers.” He didn’t. It claims Mr. Trump “praised” a prosecutor named Yuriy Lutsenko and suggested the Ukrainian president “keep him in his position.” That didn’t happen either. There’s more, and when the whistleblower can’t get the facts of the call right, it’s no surprise he got his conclusion wrong too.

There is simply no evidence of what House Democrats have made the central claim of their impeachment inquiry: that Mr. Trump engaged in a “quid pro quo” by withholding aid to Ukraine unless it “opened an investigation” into former Vice President Joe Biden.

Dem Debate: Biden Confronted About Ukraine Scandal; Sanders Promises Millions of New Jobs; Yang to Legalize Heroin, Give Everyone $1,000 a Month For No Reason (VIDEO)

By Townhall. CNN’s Anderson Cooper got right to the point when he had the chance to question former Vice President Joe Biden at Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate on Ukraine.

“If it’s not okay for a president’s family to be involved in foreign businesses, why was it okay for your son when you were vice president?” Cooper asked Biden.

“Look, my son did nothing wrong,” Biden said. “I did nothing wrong. I carried out the policy of the United States government in rooting out corruption in Ukraine. That’s what we should be focusing on.” . . .

The former VP strayed a bit, before somehow finding a way to invoke the first president of the United States. George Washington, Biden said, worried about foreign interference in our elections. . .

“The president and his thugs have proven they are flat lying,” Biden said, adding we have to focus on “Trump’s corruption.” (Read more from “Dem Debate: Biden Confronted About Ukraine Scandal” HERE)

Sanders promises new jobs for ‘tens of millions of Americans’ during Democratic debate

By Fox News. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., stood by his claim that he would provide jobs for every single American, purportedly ending unemployment in the United States.

His comments came during the fourth Democratic debate on Tuesday when CNN anchor Erin Burnett asked him about his jobs guarantee.

“You say your federal jobs guarantee is part of the answer to the threat of automation, that tens of millions of Americans could end up losing their jobs. Are you promising that you will have a job for every single one of those Americans?” she asked.

“Damn right we will,” Sanders quickly responded. Sanders initially made a jobs guarantee when he released his version of the “Green New Deal” in August. (Read more from “Sanders Promises New Jobs for ‘Tens of Millions of Americans’ During Democratic Debate” HERE)

Andrew Yang Forces Democratic Debate on Universal Basic Income, His Plan to Send Every Adult a $1k Check

By Washington Examiner. Andrew Yang forced a discussion at Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential debate on his proposal for a Universal Basic Income, a plan to send every adult a government check.

Yang, the former entrepreneur running on the platform of implementing a UBI, as it’s known, kicked off a debate about the idea among the candidates when he attacked rival candidate Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ plan for a federal jobs program. Yang argued it was impractical and not what most voters truly wanted.

“I am for the spirit of a federal jobs guarantee, but you have to look at how it would actually materialize in practice. What are the jobs? Who manages you? What if you don’t like your job?” the former tech executive said, asserting that most Americans don’t want to work for the federal government. “Saying that that is the vision of the economy the 21st-century economy to me is not a vision that most Americans would embrace.”

He added that a federal jobs guarantee “does not take into account the work of people like my wife who is at home with our two boys, one of whom is autistic.”

Yang’s proposal would give $1,000 cash monthly without any conditions, which he dubs a “freedom dividend.” He argues that the payment would be productive than federally supported jobs. “We know this in Ohio: If you rely up on the federal government to target its resources, you end up with failed retraining programs and jobs that no one wants,” he said. WATCH: Hunter Biden Admits He ‘Probably’ Wouldn’t Have Been on Burisma’s Board If Not for His Father

In a recent interview, Hunter Biden said that he probably wouldn’t have been asked to be on the board of a Ukrainian energy company if not for his vice presidential father.

During the exclusive interview with ABC News, aired on Tuesday morning, Biden was asked about his involvement with the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, which is the driving factor behind House Democrats’ ongoing efforts to impeach President Trump.

“If your last name wasn’t Biden,” ABC anchor Amy Robach asked, “do you think you would’ve been asked to be on the board of Burisma?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know. Probably not,” Biden responded. “I don’t think that there’s a lot of things that would have happened in my life if my last name wasn’t Biden.”

The younger Biden has faced criticism that he was asked to be on the board despite a notable lack of experience in the energy industry. Biden responded to those claims elsewhere in the interview, where he pointed to his experience as a board member at Amtrak, the quasi-public American train company, among other ventures.

“I was vice chairman of the board of Amtrak for five years,” Biden said when Robach asked about his qualifications. “I was the chairman of the board of the U.N. World Food Program. I was a lawyer for Boies Schiller Flexner, one of the most prestigious law firms in the world.”

The former vice president’s son also took issue with the amount of public scrutiny aimed at his business endeavors when Robach brought up the $50,000 he made per month while working for Burisma.

“Look, I’m a private citizen; one thing that I don’t have to do is sit here and open my kimono as it relates to how much money I make or make or did or didn’t,” Biden said. “But it’s all been reported.”

Robach also asked the younger Biden whether or not he ever thought that taking the position at Burisma was a bad idea, given his father’s position.

“I’m a human, and you know what? Did I make a mistake? Well, maybe in the grand scheme of things, yeah,” he said. “But did I make a mistake based upon some ethical lapse? Absolutely not.” (For more from the author of “Hunter Biden Admits He ‘Probably’ Wouldn’t Have Been on Burisma’s Board If Not for His Father” please click HERE)

BOMBSHELL: Whistleblower Worked With Joe Biden at the Obama White House; Trump BASHES Biden at Rally

By Townhall. House Democrats began their impeachment push formally based on some whistleblower report that alleged President Trump tried to shakedown Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July. Trump supposedly threatened to withhold military aid unless Zelensky opened a corruption probe against Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden. The whistleblower is reportedly a CIA agent, a registered Democrat, and worked with a 2020 Democratic candidate. There is also a third citation indicating political bias that was not revealed. That portion was redacted. But the report is second-hand sourced and riddled with errors because this person didn’t listen in on the call. The Trump White House also released the transcript, which totally debunked the quid pro quo aspect of this circus.

The complaint wasn’t released to members of Congress prior to them announcing a formal impeachment inquiry. Yeah, no one read the complaint, so that’s all you need to know about Democratic intentions in this matter. This is an attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election, using a biased intelligence operative who had worked with Joe Biden during the Obama presidency. Yeah, that was revealed today by The Washington Examiner:

The 2020 Democratic candidate with whom the CIA whistleblower had a “professional” tie is Joe Biden, according to intelligence officers and former White House officials.

Lawyers for the whistleblower said he had worked only “in the executive branch.” The Washington Examiner has established that he is a career CIA analyst who was detailed to the National Security Council at the White House and has since left. On Sept. 26, the New York Times reported that he was a CIA officer. On Oct. 4, the newspaper added that he “was detailed to the National Security Council at one point.”

Trump Bashes Biden at Minnesota Rally, Asks ‘Where’s Hunter?

By The Hill. President Trump went after former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden during his Thursday night rally, repeatedly asking where the younger Biden was.

”Joe’s son Hunter got thrown out of the Navy and then he became a genius on Wall Street in about two days,” Trump said while targeting the Democratic presidential candidate’s son.

“Whatever happened to Hunter? Where the hell is he?” he added at the rally in Minneapolis, Minn. “Where’s Hunter?”

“Hey fellas, I have an idea for a new T-shirt,” the president continued, turning to the audience. “Let’s do another T-shirt: ‘Where’s Hunter?'”

Earlier in the rally, the president’s son Eric Trump also went after Hunter Biden while overseeing a chant of “lock him up” when attacking the former vice president. (Read more from “Trump Bashes Biden at Minnesota Rally, Asks ‘Where’s Hunter?” HERE)

Hoaxblower Set to Be Exposed — Again?

By Breitbart. The New York Times reported that, along with the intelligence officer “whistleblower” being a registered Democrat and having a “professional relationship” with a 2020 Democrat, there remains a third redacted reason critics could accuse him of “potential bias” when submitting his complaint to the Intelligence Community inspector general.

The Washington Examiner’s Byron York reported Tuesday that the intelligence officer “whistleblower” had a “professional relationship” with a 2020 Democrat presidential candidate and was a registered Democrat, which critics could use to accuse the “whistleblower” of bias against President Donald Trump and his administration.

However, the New York Times‘ Nicholas Fandos also reported Tuesday that there remains a third reason that the “whistleblower identified” that could “be used to accuse him of potential bias against Mr. Trump.”

Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson suggested in his initial review of the complaint that there are some indications of “an arguable political bias on the part of the complainant in favor of a rival political candidate.”

The third indication remains a secret to the public; however, the others, like his party affiliation and history with a presidential candidate, could shed light on the intelligence officer’s motivations to submit a whistleblower complaint regarding President Donald Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. OPINION: Who Does the Whistleblower Know?

By PJ Media. I’ve grown increasingly curious — hell, let’s say suspicious — about the most recent incarnation of the three-year effort to find a case for impeaching Trump. This is, of course, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) and the Democrat members’ “impeachment investigation.”

Take it as read that we now know the Ukrainian investigation of Burisma — the Ukrainian gas company for which Biden apparently interceded while in office, and where Hunter Biden had a very well paid sinecure — started long before Trump’s controversial call; that the President of Ukraine has said on the record he didn’t feel he was pressured at all by Trump’s call; and that Biden admitted on video using aid to Ukraine to pressure the then-government to fire the prosecutor that was investigating the company. . .

Now, look at the really just astonishing irregularity of the “impeachment inquiry”: not just refusing to take it to the floor of the House, but the secrecy, the selective cherry-picking of releases, and the plan to prevent Republican members — not to mention the nation — from learning anything about either WB1 or WB2.

I think the most plausible inference is that the whistleblowers are connected to Biden’s campaign, or to the DNC, and were shaken by the possibility of Biden and Crowdstrike being investigated because they know there is something there to be found. We Now Have an Idea of Who Discussed the Ukraine Call With Others

A National Security Counsel (NSC) staffer discussed President Donald Trump’s July 25th call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with people outside of the counsel, Fox News reported. During the conversation, the staffer described the call as “outrageous.”

President Trump’s former special assistant who worked on European and Russian affairs, Fiona Hill, is set to provide a deposition to Congress next week, although it’s unknown whether or not she helped prep for the call or received any readout of the call. , ,

Former U.S. envoy to Kiev Marie Yovanovitch is also set to testify in front of Congress next week. Trump and those close to him have described Yovanovitch as a “rogue employee with an anti-Trump bias. She was ousted in May amid alleged attempts by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani to press Ukraine into investigating Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son,” Fox reported.

U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland also plans to provide a deposition before a joint committee, despite the State Department directing him not to appear. He decided to testify after House Democrats subpoenaed him on Wednesday. (Read more from “We Now Have an Idea of Who Discussed the Ukraine Call With Others” HERE)

Second Ukraine Whistleblower Comes Forward; Attorney for Impeachment ‘Whistleblowers’ Actively Sought Trump Admin Informants

By The Blaze. The attorney representing the whistleblower who filed a complaint against President Donald Trump revealed Sunday that he is now representing a second whistleblower with “firsthand knowledge” of some of the allegations against the president.

Attorney Mark Zaid confirmed to ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos that the second whistleblower has firsthand knowledge of some of the allegations outlined in the first complaint. Like the first whistleblower, Zaid’s newest client is also an intelligence official. . .

The development is significant particularly because a second whistleblower could cast further doubt on Trump’s denials that he did anything wrong.

The New York Times first reported Friday that a second whistleblower was weighing whether to file his own complaint. According to the Times, the official had firsthand knowledge that corroborated information contained in the first complaint.

Zaid told the Washington Examiner on Sunday that the second whistleblower has not filed an official complaint because he “doesn’t need to.” Indeed, the Times reported that government officials who meet with inspectors general are “protected by federal law that outlaws reprisals.”

Attorney for Impeachment ‘Whistleblowers’ Actively Sought Trump Admin Informants

By Breitbart. Mark Zaid, the activist attorney representing the so-called whistleblower at the center of the impeachment movement targeting President Donald Trump, says he is representing a second so-called whistleblower who spoke to the Intelligence Community’s inspector general about Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president.

Missing from the avalanche of news media coverage about Zaid’s two anonymous clients rocking the nation’s capital is that at the beginning of Trump’s presidency Zaid co-founded Whistleblower Aid, a small nonprofit that blasted advertisements around D.C. actively seeking whistleblowers during the Trump administration.

Whistleblower Aid is heavily tied to far-left activist organizations and Democratic politics.

ABC News broke the story on Sunday about the existence of the second so-called whistleblower speaking about Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. (Read more from “Attorney for Impeachment ‘Whistleblowers’ Actively Sought Trump Admin Informants” HERE)

Trump: What Ukraine’s President Just Said ‘Should End This Democrat Scam’ (VIDEO)

Comments by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference Thursday “should end this Democrat Scam,” President Trump says — if the Democrats and their allies in the media weren’t committed to it.

“The President of the Ukraine just stated again, in the strongest of language, that President Trump applied no pressure and did absolutely nothing wrong. He used the strongest language possible,” Trump tweeted Thursday. “That should end this Democrat Scam, but it won’t, because the Dems & Media are FIXED!”

In a “press marathon” Thursday, President Zelensky, the world leader on the other end of the line during the famous July 25 call that sparked the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, once again stressed that “there was no blackmail.”

As evidence, Zelensky pointed to the fact that his government didn’t even know that the U.S. was withholding $391 million in military aid until weeks after the call. . .

“The Ukrainian government didn’t know it was being held up in Washington by Trump, according to the two Ukrainian officials,” Miller reported. “Nearly a month after the call — which Zelensky has since described as ‘good’ and Trump has called ‘perfect’ — the Ukrainian government was left stumped when they received word that the aid had in fact been suspended.” (Read more from “Trump: What Ukraine’s President Just Said ‘Should End This Democrat Scam’” HERE)

Joe AND Hunter Biden Were Both Paid by Burisma (VIDEO)

So, the plot thickens with Joe Biden and his Ukraine ties. House Democrats have pulled the trigger on their grand plan to impeach President Trump for simply winning the 2016 election. . .

As the son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, it seems pretty clear that he was there selling access. That’s the allegation. It’s a question that hasn’t gone away, and one that has irritated Joe Biden to no end. And now we’re hearing that Joe Biden was also paid $900,000 which was part of his lobbying fee on behalf of Burisma. The former vice president has repeatedly said that he and his son never discussed overseas business, despite being pictured in a photograph golfing with two Ukrainian energy executives. They didn’t talk business. Who are you kidding? Our friends at RedState wrote about this earlier today. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s attorney, also repeated the claim on Fox News’ Sean Hannity Wednesday night (via NY Post):

Rudy Giuliani, the personal lawyer for President Trump, alleged that a Ukrainian natural gas company that employed Joe Biden’s son Hunter also paid the former vice president $900,000 in lobbying fees.

Giuliani, appearing Wednesday night on Fox News’ “The Sean Hannity Show,” cited as evidence documents released by Andriy Derkach, a member of Ukraine’s parliament.

WATCH: Biden Calls for Impeachment – Here’s How President Trump Responded

The man at the center of the famous phone call that sparked the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is now officially calling for the impeachment of his potential 2020 presidential opponent.

After several of his fellow Democratic presidential hopefuls announced their full support of impeaching President Trump for asking his Ukrainian counterpart to “look into” alleged corruption involving Biden and his son, the former vice president has made it official: He now believes Congress should impeach Trump. . .

In response, Trump fired off a tweet pointing to the issue at the heart of his much-analyzed phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and suggesting that Biden was only getting behind the impeachment push because he is being rapidly overtaken in the polls by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“So pathetic to see Sleepy Joe Biden, who with his son, Hunter, and to the detriment of the American Taxpayer, has ripped off at least two countries for millions of dollars, calling for my impeachment – and I did nothing wrong,” he wrote. “Joe’s Failing Campaign gave him no other choice!”

Trump followed that tweet up with a video highlighting the corruption claims against Biden and calling for Americans to push back against the Democrats’ efforts to “overturn the election.”
