A Tech Company Posted a Job for ‘Whites Only.’ Here’s What Happened Next.

A Virginia-based tech company is being ordered to pay $38,500 for posting a “whites only” job advertisement.

According to The Hill, in March 2023, minority-owned federal contractor Arthur Grand Technologies Inc. advertised a Salesforce Business Analyst and Insurance Claims position based in Dallas, Texas. Reportedly, the posting restricted candidates to “only US born citizens [white] who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TX [Don’t share with candidates].”

The job posting “drew outrage” on social media, causing the Department of Justice to open up an investigation into the company. When interrogated, the company claimed the posting was done by an employee working for its subsidiary in India. Per The Hill, the company insisted it “denied approving” the posting.

The Justice and Labor departments have fined the company a civil penalty of $7,500 and also ordered the company to pay $31,000 overall to 31 people who complained about its posting.

“It is shameful that in the 21st century, we continue to see employers using ‘whites only’ and only US born’ job postings to lock out otherwise eligible job candidates of color,” Kristen Clarke, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, said in a statement. Schools to Let Students Opt out of Holocaust Lesson, Citing Students With ‘Different Experiences’

Virginia’s largest school district will let students skip a presentation from a Holocaust survivor, saying the diverse district includes students with “different experiences.”

“We understand that all students have different experiences. If you prefer to opt your child out from participating in this presentation, please email your child’s history teacher and they will be provided an alternate assignment. Please email your child’s history teacher with any questions that you may have,” a letter from Cooper Middle School said.

The letter referred to a scheduled presentation from a Holocaust survivor to seventh-graders, according to Adele Scalia, a mother of one of those middle schoolers.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) claimed it is advertising an opt-out for the benefit of Jews.

“Each year, Cooper MS invites a Holocaust survivor to speak with students to affirm meaningful learning experiences that increase representation of all identity groups that are essential to student learning. Some Jewish students have previously expressed discomfort while engaging in dialogue around this visit. For that reason, school leadership makes every effort to partner with families of these students, who are 12 and 13 years old, to keep them informed. This opt-out allows the family the opportunity to make the best informed decision on behalf of their student,” it said in a statement to The Daily Wire. Mother of 6-Year-Old Who Shot Teacher Sentenced to Prison on Federal Gun Charges

. . .The incident led to numerous stories about how this child was a menace, accompanied by either his mother or father during classes because his behavior was out of control. There was no chaperone on the day Zwerner was shot, which was in January. Eventually, the boy’s mother, Deja Taylor, was the target of the investigation, being charged with child neglect and gun charges over the summer (via NBC News):

The mother of a 6-year-old who took a gun to his Virginia school and shot his teacher this year was charged Monday with federal gun crimes.

Deja Taylor, 25, was charged with two counts in U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia: being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm and making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.

She was previously indicted in April by a Newport News grand jury on charges of felony child neglect and a misdemeanor count of recklessly leaving a loaded firearm so as to endanger a child, Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney Howard Gwynn said.

Taylor has apologized to the teacher and said she was responsible for her son’s access to the handgun, though she maintains she’s not clear exactly how he obtained it. A trial is scheduled for Aug. 15.

And now, we’ve learned the sentence: 21 months (via Washington Post):

The mother of a then-6-year-old boy who shot a teacher at the city’s Richneck Elementary School in January was sentenced to 21 months in prison Wednesday on federal convictions related to the weapon used in the shooting.

Angry Liberal Who Threatened GOP Poll Greeter Identified As Federal Employee

The Arlington liberal who went viral after losing it on a Republican poll greeter was identified Wednesday as “long-time federal contractor” Brendan Anthony Martin.

Opposition research group Marco Polo exposed Martin’s identity on Twitter using facial recognition tools. Martin allegedly works as a technical administrator for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ (HHS) foster care system, according to his LinkedIn found by the group.

However, according to the research group, this is not Martin’s first attempt at heckling Republicans.

In 2018, former President Donald Trump hosted a “Celebration of America” event after disinviting the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House. Martin was previously recorded by DailyMail not only attending the event but heckling Trump prior to his speech. Democrats Regain Control of Virginia House of Delegates in Rebuke to Youngkin

Virginia Democrats regained their majority in the House of Delegates, flipping control of the state’s lower chamber in a stunning rebuke to Republicans who sought to defend their slim majority and continue pushing their conservative agenda in the commonwealth.

Democrats managed to regain control of the House after flipping a handful of seats in key districts, marking a crucial win for the party as they seek to thwart Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s agenda on key issues such as abortion, education, and the economy. The victory hands the majority back to Democrats after Republicans won narrow control of the chamber in 2021, giving Democrats control of both chambers of the state legislature heading into the 2024 cycle.

The victory also deals a blow to Youngkin when it comes to national ambitions, as it has been widely speculated the Virginia governor could declare a late presidential bid depending on how well Republicans performed in the off-year elections.

Although Youngkin himself was not on the 2023 ballot, the first-term governor made himself a constant presence on the campaign trail, stumping for GOP candidates and donating millions of dollars from his political action committee to boost local GOP efforts. Jury Finds Former School Guilty of Crime Stemming From Trans Rape Coverup

A jury of six women and one man on Friday found ex-Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Scott Ziegler guilty of using his position to retaliate against a teacher for cooperating with a grand jury investigating how the district handled sexual assault.

After a four-day trial plus a day of deliberations, the jury found that Ziegler wrongfully fired a teacher who had disclosed to Virginia investigators about mishandling of sexual assault in her classroom. Ziegler was convicted of using his official position to retaliate against someone for exercising their rights, and acquitted of punishing someone for testifying to a jury, both misdemeanors.

Ziegler could face up to 12 months in jail, a $2,500 fine, or both. Sentencing in the trial will occur on January 4, 2024, Judge Douglas Fleming Jr. said. Ziegler’s victim, former special education teacher Erin Brooks, clasped her hands in front of her mouth in emotion after the verdict was read.

Prosecutors appointed by Attorney General Jason Miyares, a Republican, said that after they began investigating the school district’s coverup of a bathroom rape, they spoke with Brooks, who disclosed an unrelated instance of mishandling of sexual assault by school administrators. Brooks was then fired by Ziegler for cooperating with the special grand jury. (Read more from “Jury Finds Former School Guilty of Crime Stemming From Trans Rape Coverup” HERE)

Democrat Who Raised Money by Selling Sex Acts Could Be Charged With Prostitution, Lawyers Say

Susanna Gibson, a candidate for the Virginia statehouse who solicited money from people online for her to perform sex acts on video with her husband, may have violated Virginia’s prostitution law, two attorneys in the state told The Daily Wire.

Virginia law states that “any person who, for money or its equivalent … engages in sexual intercourse” or other sexual acts with another person “is guilty of prostitution, which is punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor.”

Shawn M. Cline, a former prosecutor and defense attorney in Virginia Beach who represents people charged with sex crimes, said in his view it’s a “chargeable offense.”

“The statute is very clear, you cannot for money or its equivalent perform sex acts,” Cline told The Daily Wire. “It doesn’t matter who’s paying for the act, if it’s an observer or the recipient. You can’t receive money.” (Read more from “Democrat Who Raised Money by Selling Sex Acts Could Be Charged With Prostitution, Lawyers Say” HERE)

Sex Cam Democrat Holds Support From Lawmakers and Activists — For Now

A Virginia Democratic candidate who was outed for recording sex acts with her husband for money on a livestreaming website has received endorsements from various liberal politicians and influential advocacy groups, records show.

Susanna Gibson, who is running to be a delegate in Virginia’s 57th District, is coming under fire from conservatives for appearing alongside her husband, John David Gibson, in sexually explicit videos through the pornographic platform Chaturbate. Top Democrats and left-wing activist hubs have not been vocal about pulling any support yet for Gibson, a nurse practitioner who can be seen in the footage asking viewers for “tips” that were purportedly “for a good cause.”

“They are insane to have not told her to step down,” Dave Gordon, the director of the GOP-aligned Virginia Project PAC, told the Washington Examiner. “She is the dictionary definition of disgrace. Democrats have to decide whether this behavior is OK, because they’re trying to play a double-game, saying Republicans are bad for exposing it, but that there’s nothing wrong with it.”

“If there is nothing wrong with it, who cares if Republicans exposed it?” Gordon asked.

The Chaturbate videos, which were reported by the Washington Post on Monday, were available on a website called Recurbate that archived streams. The Washington Examiner found that several of Gibson’s videos were available, as of this writing, on other pornography websites, which list the candidate’s username as “HotWifeExperience.” (Read more from “Sex Cam Democrat Holds Support From Lawmakers and Activists — For Now” HERE)

6-Year-Old Student Who Shot Teacher Allegedly Had Violent History, Once Choked Teacher

The 6-year-old student who shot his Virginia teacher last month has a shocking history of violence, including one instance in which he allegedly choked another teacher. . .

Abby Zwerner, the first grade teacher who was shot, has filed a legal notice that informs her school district that she plans to sue over the incident that nearly killed her.

That notice revealed shocking incidents the troubled 6-year-old student had with his classmates and other staff at Richneck Elementary School.

According to the notice, the student had a history of cursing teachers and students, once tried to whip his fellow students with a belt, and even choked another teacher “until she couldn’t breathe,” the Associated Press reported. And the day before the shooting, he allegedly destroyed Zwerner’s cellphone.

That unnamed teacher, who was choked, confirmed the incident in an interview with the AP. (Read more from “6-Year-Old Student Who Shot Teacher Allegedly Had Violent History, Once Choked Teacher” HERE)

Teacher Shot by 6-Year-Old Boy Plans to Sue School District; Superintendent Removed by Board

An attorney for the Virginia teacher who police say was intentionally shot by a 6-year-old pupil announced a forthcoming lawsuit against the school system Wednesday, the same day a school administrator resigned and the school board removed its superintendent.

The Newport News school board voted 5-1 to depose George Parker as its superintendent during its meeting, according to CNN. Ebony Parker, the assistant principal at Richneck Elementary School, resigned hours earlier.

Their exits came as Diane Toscano, an attorney for first-grade teacher Abby Zwerner, claimed the school administration ignored repeated warnings about the pupil being armed prior to the shooting on Jan. 6.

“Over the course of a few hours, three different times — three times — school administration was warned by concerned teachers and employees that the boy had a gun on him at the school and was threatening people,” Ms. Toscano said. “But the administration could not be bothered.”

The first of those warnings came from Ms. Zwerner herself around 11:30 a.m. when the accused student threatened to beat up another child. Despite this, the student was allowed to remain in class.
