WATCH: President Trump Tells Large Crowd That Jesus Christ Is the True Meaning of Christmas

On Thursday night, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump told a large crowd gathered in Washington, D.C., for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree that the biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ is the true meaning of the holiday season.

“In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge lit the first National Christmas tree,” Trump said, according to a transcript of his remarks shared by LifeSiteNews. “Later that night, African-American community centers held an outdoor worship service on these grounds, and during that service the Washington Monument was illuminated with a beautiful cross, a powerful reminder of the meaning of Christmas.”

As the president noted, the tradition of lighting a national Christmas tree began in 1923 when President Calvin Coolidge lit a 48-foot fir tree as a quartet from the U.S. Marine Band performed, according to the official ceremony’s website. This year’s 30-foot evergreen tree is located in the northeast quadrant of The Ellipse near the White House and decorated 450 white star ornaments and over 50,000 lights. . .

In his remarks, Trump also recognized the efforts of volunteers and military service members who serve American families during the Christmas season and highlighted the work of the Salvation Army. “Each year through their Angel Tree program, the Salvation Army brings new gifts to more than 600,000 children,” he noted before concluding the ceremony.

Trump added: “At Christmas we remember this eternal truth: Every person is a beloved child of God. As one grateful nation we praise the joy of family, the blessings of freedom, and the miracle of Christmas.” (Read more from “VIDEO: President Trump Tells Large Crowd That Jesus Christ Is the True Meaning of Christmas” HERE)

Pensacola Shooting Suspect Reportedly Loathed U.S. as ‘Nation of Evil,’ Hosted Dinner to Watch Mass Shooting Videos; Pensacola Muslims Fear ‘Backlash’ After Jihad Massacre

By Daily Caller. A Saudi military student training at Pensacola Naval Air Station reportedly wrote an anti-American manifesto prior to the Friday shooting that killed three people.

Mohammed al-Shamrani called the United States a “nation of evil” in an online manifesto, AFP reported Saturday. Shamrani died in the attack that left eight other people wounded. Authorities are assessing whether the incident was a terrorist attack. . .

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis identified the shooting suspect as a Saudi Arabian national who was on the base for military flight training. In the 9/11 attacks 15 of the of the 19 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia and some had learned how to fly at civilian flight training centers in Florida.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group that investigates radical Islamist media, Shamrani had posted a manifesto on a since-deleted Twitter account that read in part: “I’m against evil, and America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil.”

Here We Go Again: Pensacola Muslims Fear ‘Backlash’ After Jihad Massacre

By PJ Media. The Pensacola News Journal was first out of the gate this time around with what is a recurring feature of establishment media coverage of jihad attacks: the follow-up weeper about how the local Muslims are shocked (Shocked!) by the massacre, and are now cowering in fear of an “anti-Muslim backlash.” That backlash rarely, if ever, materializes, but when has the media ever allowed reality to intrude upon a good narrative?

The News Journal interviewed Salma Ashmawi of the Islamic Center of Northwest Florida, and Ashmawi hit all the expected notes, asking: “What can anybody do in a case like that except pray?” Ashmawi added, said the News Journal, that “the mosque’s membership is also raising money to help the victims.” She said: “We are all Pensacola residents. We’re hurt and we’re in mourning.”

Amid all this pious magnanimity, Ashmawi also remembered to play the victim: she “said parents who usually take their children to Sunday school at the mosque are planning to keep their children home this week out of fear they will become targets of backlash aimed against Muslims.” . . .

No claim that Muslims were the real victims would be complete without a bit of moral equivalence, so Ashmawi “said what the shooter did was an act against God and against humanity, though she added that Christians don’t have to live in fear or face calls to apologize every time someone claiming to be a Christian does something wrong.” She did not, of course, mention the fact that jihad murderers quite often scream “Allahu akbar” while killing infidels, while Christian criminals don’t generally invoke Jesus while in the midst of their evildoing.

Ashmawi insisted that it was all because “Islamophobes” don’t understand Islam: “But sadly enough, people don’t understand that this has nothing to do with our faith. In fact, what he did is totally forbidden and against faith. Somebody that does something so horrific is not blessed. God has said if you kill one human, it’s as though you have killed all humanity.” (Read more from “Here We Go Again: Pensacola Muslims Fear ‘Backlash’ After Jihad Massacre” HERE)

South African Man Given U.S. Citizenship After Allegedly Murdering Alaskan Women

A South African man was able to become a naturalized American citizen weeks after allegedly murdering two native Alaskan women, Breitbart News has learned.

Brian Smith, a 48-year-old native of South Africa, was indicted in October for the murders of 30-year-old Kathleen Henry and 52-year-old Veronica Abouchuk in Anchorage, Alaska, in separate incidents. Henry was allegedly strangled to death, while Abouchuk was allegedly shot and killed. . .

Smith, the law enforcement official confirmed, was able to become a naturalized American citizen weeks after he had already allegedly murdered Henry in a hotel room and potentially months to a year after allegedly murdering Abouchuk. At the time of his naturalization in September, Smith had not been identified by police as a murder suspect.

In the case of Henry’s murder, which has become known as the “Memory Card Killing,” Smith allegedly recorded the torture and murder of the native Alaskan woman on September 4. In early October, a woman found the SD memory card on a street with the title “homicide at midtown Marriott,” which allegedly depicts Smith strangling and murdering Henry. Did Biden Use Another Racial Slur?

Former Vice President Joe Biden is refusing to explain what he meant when he used the term “roaches” at the renaming of a community pool in 2017. . .

The event, meant to recognize the former vice president’s contributions to Wilmington, was centered around the renaming of a public pool at which Biden worked in his youth. Things took a strange turn, however, when the former vice president began to share personal stories from his time as a lifeguard at the pool.

“By the way, you know, I sit on the stand, and it get[s] hot,” Biden said, flanked by children from the local community. “I got a lot, I got hairy legs that turn blonde in the sun, and the kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and then watch the hair come back up again. They’d look at it.”

Video of Biden telling the crowd about his “wet leg hair” caused a stir when it resurfaced on social media last week. Many, seeing Biden’s comments for the first time, found them inappropriate and “creepy.” Even more people, however, were perplexed by another portion of the former vice president’s speech, one that seemed out of place with everything else said that day.

“So I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap,” the former vice president told the audience in Delaware. “And I loved kids jumping on my lap.”

WATCH: Nadler Confronted over Hypocrisy on Impeachment; Nadler Argues Dems’ Impeachment Case Is so Strong That a Jury Would Convict in ‘Three Minutes Flat’

By Daily Wire. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, was called out by CNN on Sunday over his past comments on impeachment that stand in stark contrast to what he is doing today in pushing for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

In 1998, during the impeachment of Democratic President Bill Clinton, Nadler said, “There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment substantially supported by one of our major political parties, and largely opposed by the other. Such an impeachment would lack legitimacy, would produce divisiveness and bitterness in our politics for years to come.”

CNN’s Dana Bash played the clip for Nadler on Sunday, saying, “So, right now, you are moving forward with impeachment proceedings against a Republican president without support from even one congressional Republican.”

“Is it fair to say that this impeachment, in your words from back then, will produce divisiveness and bitterness in our politics for years to come?” Bash asked.

“No,” Nadler replied, claiming that Trump was the one who was responsible for the “bitterness and divisiveness into our politics.”

Nadler Argues Dems’ Impeachment Case Is so Strong That a Jury Would Convict in ‘Three Minutes Flat’

By Townhall. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NJ) on Sunday appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” to discuss Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. According to Nadler, Democrats “have a very rock-solid case” against the president.

“I think the case we have, if presented to a jury, would be a guilty verdict in about three minutes flat,” he said. “All this nonsense about hearsay – there is considerable direct evidence.”

Nadler claimed the Democrats don’t have more direct evidence because the White House has blocked officials from testifying in the impeachment inquiry, citing executive privilege.

“And it ill behooves a president or his partisans to say, ‘you don’t have enough direct evidence,’ when the reason we don’t have even more direct evidence is because the president has ordered everybody in the executive branch not to cooperate with Congress in the impeachment inquiry, something that is unprecedented in American history and is a contempt of congress by itself,” the Judiciary Committee Chairman said.

City Wants Private Property Owners to Add ‘Mandatory Rest Spaces’ for the Homeless

Portland, Oregon, like many other notably “blue” cities, is not immune to a growing homelessness problem. Like San Francisco, California, and Seattle, Washington, Portland is overrun with people sleeping rough, many of whom suffer from drug addiction and mental illness.

There are humane ways to handle the homelessness problem but, it seems, a Portland city commission would rather change Portland’s building codes in order to force private property owners to accommodate members of Portland’s homeless population, according to local media.

The city’s “planning and sustainability commission,” which writes and enforces the city’s building codes, approved a change to building guidelines in November that would require new constuction to feature “opportunities to rest and be welcome” for those who do not number among that building’s residents or customers.

The requirement can be read a number of ways, but at least one member of the Portland planning and sustainability commission was clear to local reporters that the requirement is to the benefit of the city’s “unhoused,” who are often kicked off of private property for loitering, sleeping, or camping — as is (typically) a private property owner’s right. . .

Business owners obviously took issue with the new requirement, badgering committee members to be more specific about the rules — particularly whether the Portland planning and sustainability commission was mandating that private property owners accommodate beds, tents, and full camps. Bernie Sanders Staffer Departs over Anti-Semitic, Homophobic Tweets

A staffer for 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders reportedly departed last week over anti-Semitic and homophobic tweets.

Darius Khalil Gordon, who joined the Vermont senator’s campaign in November, announced Wednesday his new position as deputy director of constituency organizing for the campaign, the Washington Free Beacon reported. A Sanders campaign spokesman told CNN the campaign no longer employed Gordon following the Thursday Free Beacon report that examined a variety of Gordon’s tweets. . .

Most of the tweets that brought Gordon under fire are from 2011 and 2010 and include slurs against Jewish people, gay people and women.

“I got a black mans body, white mans power, jew man money, and an asian man life span..lol,” Gordon allegedly tweeted in July 2011, according to a screenshot from the Free Beacon. Another screenshot shows a September 2010 tweet in which Gordon allegedly said, “Working hard so one day I can make that Jew money.” . . .

Democratic Lawmaker: ‘I Am Struggling’ to See a Case for Impeachment; Trump Declines to Take Part in ‘Baseless’ House Impeachment Inquiry; Trump Rips CNN Report About Device He Uses for Official Calls

By Washington Examiner. Several moderate Democratic House representatives are balking at impeaching President Trump as they worry doing so will have severe political consequences.

One anonymous member said he is “struggling” to see the case for impeachment and expressed concern that all of the information being used to draft articles of impeachment is “secondhand,” according to CNN.

The anonymous admissions from Democratic lawmakers comes nearly two weeks after Democratic Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Michigan told a local radio host she favors censure over impeachment. Lawrence walked back that statement after it hit national news, and she pledged to support impeachment.

“I would say, ‘Look, I am concerned about not knowing what the articles will have in them. I am concerned about the timeline of this whole impeachment process,'” one Democratic lawmaker said. “For me, right now, I am struggling to see how the evidence supports impeachment at this point.” (Read more from “Democratic Lawmaker: ‘I Am Struggling’ to See a Case for Impeachment” HERE)

Trump Declines to Take Part in ‘Baseless’ House Impeachment Inquiry

By NPR. President Trump has decided to stay out of the impeachment inquiry being conducted by the House of Representatives.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone rejected an offer from House Democrats that would have allowed the president to send counsel to represent him at future impeachment hearings.

In a short two-paragraph letter to Democrats, Cipollone said the impeachment inquiry is “completely baseless and has violated basic principles of due process and fundamental fairness.”

“House Democrats have wasted enough of America’s time with this charade,” Cipollone said. “You should end this inquiry now and not waste even more time with additional hearings.” (Read more from “Trump Declines to Take Part in ‘Baseless’ House Impeachment Inquiry” HERE)

Trump Rips ‘Fake News’ CNN, Demands Retraction over Report He Still Uses Personal Cellphone

By Fox News. President Trump went after CNN on Friday night after the anti-Trump network reported that he still uses a personal cellphone, which he insisted is “totally false.”

CNN reported on-air during “Out Front with Erin Burnett” that “multiple officials” from the Trump administration have told the network that the president continues to use his personal device to make phone calls “despite repeated warnings” by his staff and that he “doesn’t care.”

White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins told CNN anchor Erin Burnett that Trump had been repeatedly warned that his calls could be vulnerable to “foreign surveillance,” which had been a concern of the staff “since he took office” and how the ongoing impeachment inquiry has “revived” such concerns.

Moments later, the president took to Twitter and blasted the report.

Jury Sides with Elon Musk in ‘Pedo Guy’ Defamation Lawsuit

By Washington Examiner. A Los Angeles jury ruled against British cave diver Vernon Unsworth in his defamation lawsuit against Elon Musk.

Unsworth filed a lawsuit against Musk after the two clashed over the best way to help a young soccer team escape a flooded cave in Thailand last year.

Musk had pitched several prototypes of submarines that could be used to rescue the boys. Unsworth, however, claimed that Musk “had no conception of what the cave passage was like” and argued that his efforts to help the boys was only a public relations stunt to help his two companies, Tesla and SpaceX. (Read more from “Jury Sides with Elon Musk in ‘Pedo Guy’ Defamation Lawsuit” HERE)
_____________________________

By Lora Kolodny. Unsworth brought the suit against Musk in September 2018, after the Tesla and SpaceX CEO had called him “sus” (suspicious) and a “pedo guy” on Twitter earlier that summer. Musk also characterized the spelunker as a “child rapist” in e-mails to Buzzfeed reporter Ryan Mac, and practically requested the lawsuit in August 2018 with a tweet that said, “Don’t you think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me?”

In his testimony during the defamation trial this week, Musk apologized to Unsworth and said he did not believe the cave explorer was a pedophile.

Musk and his defense team, led by attorney Alex Spiro, argued that “pedo guy” was simply heated rhetoric and not meant as a statement of fact. They also argued that the phrase “pedo guy” is widely known as slang for “creepy old guy.” And they suggested that Unsworth was looking for a payday in court, and had not sincerely been harmed by the “pedo guy” label.

The clash between the two men began when Unsworth criticized Musk for involving himself, and his employees, in an effort to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach from flooded caves in Thailand in July 2018.

Unsworth’s expertise and knowledge of the caves proved instrumental in extracting the soccer team. He is credited as being a leader of the rescue effort. (Read more about the defamation lawsuit against Musk HERE)

Deserted Alaska Child, 5, Carries Toddler Half a Mile in Below-Freezing Temps in Socks, Light Clothes

A 5-year-old child in a remote Alaska village carried a toddler half a mile to a neighbor’s house in the bitter cold after he was left home alone, police said Friday.

The young child was frightened after the power went out at the home, so wearing only socks and light clothing, he picked up the baby and carried it through temperatures that dipped 31 degrees below zero in the village of Venetie, Alaska, according to state troopers.

Both children suffered cold-weather injuries, according to an Alaska Department of Safety release.

Julie Peter, 37, left the 5-year-old and 18-month-old home alone and has been arrested on suspicion of endangering a minor. Her relationship to the children is not yet known.
