Poll: Support for Barrett Confirmation Turns Into Landslide

As the Senate Judiciary Committee considers Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, new Morning Consult/Politico polling shows support for her confirmation remains sturdy.

Forty-eight percent of registered voters in the Oct. 9-11 survey said the Senate should vote to confirm Barrett as a Supreme Court justice, up 2 percentage points from 46 percent in a poll one week ago, though inside the surveys’ 2-point margins of error. Thirty-one percent of voters said the Senate should vote down Barrett’s nomination, unchanged from the previous polling.

The level of support for Barrett’s nomination, an increase of 11 points since President Donald Trump announced her nomination on Sept. 26, also compares favorably with public sentiment toward Justice Brett Kavanaugh prior to the first day of his confirmation hearings in September 2018. At that time, 37 percent of voters said the Senate should vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the court, compared with 29 percent who said it should vote to deny his nomination.

At this point in the process, a larger share of Republicans and Democrats are voicing support for Barrett’s nomination than they did for Kavanaugh’s: 77 percent of GOP voters and 27 percent of Democratic voters said Barrett should be confirmed, compared to 67 percent and 15 percent, respectively, who said the same of Kavanaugh ahead of his hearings. WATCH: Barrett Shredded for Saying ‘Sexual Preference’ but Biden, Democrats Have Said It for Years

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett came under fire from Sen. Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii) Tuesday for using the term “sexual preference,” but presidential candidate Joe Biden, late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and other prominent liberals have said it during their careers.

“I’m going to need you to help this time rebuild the backbone of this country, the middle class, but this time bring everybody along regardless of color, sexual preference, their backgrounds,” Biden said during a virtual roundtable on May 7.

Biden also used the term in 2010 when discussing the Senate repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in the military and during his failed 2008 presidential campaign.

“We will not be squandering the abilities of combat soldiers, as well as interpreters who happen to have a different sexual preference, who happen to be gay or happen to be lesbian,” Biden said, according to a Defense Department document.

Ginsburg, the liberal favorite whose seat Barrett would fill if confirmed, used the term during an interview in 2017.

WATCH: Black Trump Supporter Kicked off Southwest Airlines Flight

Southwest Airlines is in hot water, once again, after a passenger was removed from a flight on Tuesday for allegedly violating mask restrictions.

The passenger, a Black man in a ‘Black Voices for Trump’ hat, donning a Trump face covering, lowered his mask once seated in order to eat a snack – a bag of peanuts – something he and other passengers understood to be allowable.

Video shows the man in a middle seat with no passengers seated directly next to him. An official from the airline in a blue mask is then shown approaching him and telling him he wasn’t going to be taking off on this flight and needed to exit the aircraft.

Witnesses in the video came to the man’s defense, saying that he was in fact wearing his mask until he lowered it in order to snack on peanuts while safely in his own seat. On the video, other passengers gestured toward a flight attendant at the front of the aircraft and said that the ejection had nothing to do with mask policy.

Judge Barrett Wrecks Kamala Harris Under SCOTUS Questioning

By Townhall. It’s been a long day on Capitol Hill but Democrat vice presidential nominee and Senator Kamala Harris finally got her turn to go after Judge Amy Coney Barrett during Supreme Court confirmation hearings Tuesday.

Amy Coney Barrett Faces Pressure During Hearing, Responds With Grace and Poise, Experts Say

By Fox News. Amy Coney Barrett withstood hours of questioning Tuesday with poise, civility, and at times, moments of humanity – countering the portrait of a right-wing extremist that Democrats have attempted to paint of President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, experts argued.

Jeffrey McCall, professor of communication at DePauw University, said Barrett’s professional responses and pleasant demeanor have undercut the narrative pushed by Democrats that she is threatening or radical.

“Judge Barrett has had a most impressive day,” McCall told Fox News. “It is clear she is bright and sincere. Her poise and pleasant personality make her a natural for the television cameras, which will also make it increasingly difficult for her opponents on the committee to trash her without themselves coming off as uncivil.”

Barrett, 48, responded to scholarly legal questions with ease and did so without hesitation. She didn’t bring any files to the hearing and at one point held up a blank pad of paper to reveal that she didn’t take any notes at all.

Through hours of answers, the even-keeled Barrett sought to reassure senators and the American public that she would dispatch justice fairly and independently and she’d come to each case without any political agenda. WATCH: Kamala Harris Needs Teleprompter During Senate SCOTUS Hearing

By The Conservative Tree House. Senator Kamala Harris chose to remain in her office just down the hall from the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing today. Oddly during her segment to deliver prepared remarks she relied on a teleprompter for the broadcast. Senator Harris does not use a teleprompter well, and the effort was transparent. WATCH:

This is an example of how/why the DNC club control agents are pressuring for virtual debates. Everything about the Harris-Biden ticket is a Potemkin village; both candidates are avatars, puppets, for the big club control agents behind the curtain. Senators Slam FBI Director for ‘Unacceptable’ Delay Over McCabe Texts

Senate Republican leaders on Tuesday slammed FBI Director Christopher Wray for a “simply unacceptable” delay in providing access to text messages sent by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley wrote to Wray that they have received just 24 pages of texts, despite the FBI making available to the Justice Department more than 300 pages.

“It is simply unacceptable that we have waited so long to receive so little,” Johnson (R-Wis.) and Grassley (R-Iowa) wrote.

The letter says Johnson’s committee “subpoenaed the FBI for all records related to” a probe of possible Trump campaign links to Russia and “[w]e have waited nearly 70 days to receive these text messages, and when records were actually produced, we received only eight percent of what we know exists.” . . .

President Trump has been pushing for additional disclosures about the FBI’s Russia probe ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Last week, the Justice Department indicated that a long-awaited report from Connecticut US Attorney John Durham would not be released before the election, a bitter disappointment to Republicans. Former White House Physician CONVINCED Biden Isn’t Mentally Fit for Office

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson told reporters on Tuesday that he was “convinced” Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, 77, does not have the cognitive ability to be commander-in-chief.

“I’m pretty familiar with what it takes both physically and cognitively to do that job and what the demands of that job are,” Jackson, 53, who is currently running for Congress as a Republican, said on a call organized by the Trump campaign.

“As a citizen, not as a candidate running for Congress, but as a citizen of this country, I’ve watched Joe Biden on the campaign trail and I am concerned and convinced that he does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability, to serve as our commander-in-chief and our head of state,” he went on.

Jackson served in the White House medical unit under George W. Bush and was appointed Physician to the President under Barack Obama and President Trump before he was nominated to serve as Secretary of Veteran Affairs in March 2018. . .

“I’m not trying to remotely diagnose him with anything,” he said. “I’ve not accused him of having Alzheimer’s or anything of that nature.” (Read more from “Former White House Physician CONVINCED Biden Isn’t Mentally Fit for Office” HERE)

Anchorage Mayor Resigns Over Sex Scandal

Anchorage, Alaska, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz resigned Tuesday, a day after apologizing for what he described as a “consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship,” with a local television anchor.

Berkowitz, 58, who is married, announced his resignation in a statement read by his chief of staff during a meeting of the Anchorage Assembly. The Democrat will remain mayor until Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.

“It is with profound sadness and humility that I resign as Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage,” the statement said, according to the Anchorage Daily News. “My resignation results from unacceptable personal conduct that has compromised my ability to perform my duties with the focus and trust that is required.” . . .

“I apologize to the people of Anchorage for a major lapse in judgment I made several years ago when I had a consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship with reporter Maria Athens,” Berkowitz wrote in a statement. “I’m embarrassed and ashamed for the hurt I’ve caused my family and our community. I take responsibility for my actions.”

Athens, 41, had posted allegations against Berkowitz on social media Friday, plus a nude photo that she claimed showed the mayor’s backside. (Read more from “Anchorage Mayor Resigns Over Sex Scandal” HERE)

WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Calls CNN Host a GOP ‘Apologist’ During Epic On-Air Spat

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.) sparred with CNN host Wolf Blitzer Tuesday evening, calling him a “Republican apologist” during a heated exchange over the holdup of coronavirus stimulus.

Pelosi slammed Blitzer for having “no knowledge” on the details of relief proposals as he pressed her on why she wouldn’t accept a $1.8 trillion package offered by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin — a package that is roughly $400 billion less than the relief legislation the House passed earlier this month.

“[Americans] really need the money right now…even members of your own caucus, madam speaker, want to accept this deal,” said Blitzer.

Blitzer went on to quote a tweet from Rep. Ro Khanna, a fellow California Democrat, who said “people in need can’t wait until February [for the next stimulus bill]” and that the $1.8 trillion offered from the White House was “significant.”

“I don’t know why you’re always an apologist — and many of your colleagues, apologists for the Republican position,” Pelosi responded. “Ro Khanna, that’s nice. That isn’t what we’re going to do. And nobody’s waiting until February.” (Read more from “WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Calls CNN Host a GOP ‘Apologist’ During Epic On-Air Spat” HERE)

Judge Refuses to Shut Down Clinton Foundation Probe

A federal tax judge has refused to shut down an investigation into the operations of the Clinton Foundation, ruling that the IRS, when it asked for summary judgment, “abused its discretion.”

Just the News reported U.S. Tax Court Judge David Gustafson denied the IRS request and instead will allow the whistleblower complaint to proceed.

The judge said the concerns from former Drug Enforcement Agency official John Moynihan and tax expert Larry Doyle provided “specific credible documentation” supporting their allegations of possible tax-exempt legal violations by the Arkansas-based Clinton charity. . .

The Clinton Foundation was flush with cash from huge donations, many from overseas, while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. Its income has plunged in the years since she left office. In fact, investigative author Peter Schweizer said in a television interview with “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that donations to the foundation have “dried up.”

“The Clinton Foundation has had a hard time raising money because they don’t have the influence to sell,” he said. “They don’t have power access to sell and that, I think, is the primary evidence for what the Clinton enterprise was all about.” (Read more from “Judge Refuses to Shut Down Clinton Foundation Probe” HERE)

President Trump Nominated a Fourth Time for Nobel Peace Prize

It was only a few months after Barack Obama took office in 2009 that the Nobel committee decided he had “created a new climate in international politics” and awarded him the Nobel Peace prize.

After all, the committee opined, he had “captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future.” . . .

President Trump has been nominated a fourth time for specific accomplishments.

A Finnish member of the European Parliament, Laura Huhtasaari, wrote that he should be honored “in recognition of his endeavors to end the era of endless wars, construct peace by encouraging conflicting parties for dialogue and negotiations, as well as underpin internal cohesion and stability of his country.”

The letter pointed out that Trump “has served almost a complete presidential term without starting a new war.” (Read more from “President Trump Nominated a Fourth Time for Nobel Peace Prize” HERE)
