School Board Removes 44 Names From Schools: Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson

Schools in San Francisco, California, will be stripped of names honoring famous American leaders deemed unworthy because of a connection to slavery or other unsavory ties, including Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.

John Muir, Francis Scott Key, and Catholic Priest Junipero Serra are also on the list.

In all, 44 school will be renamed, even as critics of the decision cite the committee tasked with picking the schools did not receive enough input from historians and a lack knowledge about the current school names.

“In one instance, the committee didn’t know whether Roosevelt Middle School was named after Theodore or Franklin Delano,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

And despite concerns that the city has more important issues to address, including the coronavirus pandemic, rampant drug overdoses, and an ongoing homelessness epidemic, the city’s school board believes it can handle multiple issues, including erasing history from the halls of education. Report: Biden Suspends Arms Sales to Key Arab Allies in the Middle East

The Biden Administration is suspending arms sales to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia — two key Gulf allies that President Donald Trump cultivated as a counter to Iran and as part of building support for peace with Israel.

Axios reported Wednesday (original emphasis):

The Biden administration has put on hold two big arms deals with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates which were approved in the final weeks of the Trump administration, a State Department official tells Axios.

Why it matters: The sales of F-35 jets and attack drones to the UAE and a large supply of munitions to Saudi Arabia will be paused pending a review. That signals a major policy shift from the Trump era, and may herald sharp tensions with both Gulf countries.

The bans will halt most immigration from South Africa, Europe, and Brazil, the order states [emphasis added]:

I have determined that it is in the interests of the United States to take action to restrict and suspend the entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of noncitizens of the United States (“noncitizens”) who were physically present within the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), the Republic of Ireland, the Federative Republic of Brazil, and the Republic of South Africa during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States.

Based on developments with respect to the variants and the continued spread of the disease, CDC has reexamined its policies on international travel and, after reviewing the public health situations within the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), the Republic of Ireland, the Federative Republic of Brazil, and the Republic of South Africa, has concluded that continued and further measures are required to protect the public health from travelers entering the United States from those jurisdictions.

By Breitbart. . .Peter Doocy, the White House correspondent for Fox News, asked Psaki: “When President Trump was imposing travel restrictions in March [sic] specifically on China, then-candidate Biden called it ‘xenophobic’ and ‘fear-mongering.’ So now President Biden is putting travel restrictions on people coming in from other countries. What words would you use to describe that?”

Psaki answered:

I don’t think that’s quite a fair articulation. The president has been clear that he felt the “Muslim ban” was xenophobic. He overturned the “Muslim ban.” He also, though, has supported — and he himself, even before, or we did, I should say, even before he was inaugurated, steps, travel restrictions, in order to keep the American people safe to ensure that we are getting the pandemic under control. That’s been part of his policy. But he was critical of the former president for having a policy that was not more comprehensive than travel restrictions. And he conveyed at the time, and more recently, the importance of having a multifaceted approach … not just travel restrictions.

By CNN. China wants to lead the global recovery from the pandemic and become more influential on the world stage than ever before. It might just have the momentum — and the confidence — to pull that plan off.

The world’s second largest economy shrugged off much of the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic last year, and its ability to keep growing while the world crashed into recession could mean its GDP exceeds that of the United States later this decade, years earlier than expected.

“China emerged from the Covid-19 shock earlier than the rest of the world and authorities are already planning for the long term,” wrote Françoise Huang, senior economist for Asia-Pacific at Euler Hermes, in a report last week titled, “The world is moving East, fast.”

China just outpaced the United States in attracting foreign direct investment for the first time. And as 2020 was drawing to a close, it signed a trade agreement with the European Union with the aim of boosting growth and giving European companies greater access to its 1.4 billion consumers. Now, Beijing is starting the new year without one of its most aggressive political adversaries, former US President Donald Trump, breathing down its neck. More Evidence of ‘Suspicious Activity’ at the Wuhan Institute of Virology Emerges

By Sky News. “More and more evidence” is emerging that there was “suspicious activity” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the pandemic outbreak, according to Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“Some of this evidence points to the fact that this laboratory had workers who fell ill … around August of 2019”.

Ms Markson said the US State Department has released a fact sheet which says for more than a year, the Chinese Communist Party has systematically prevented a transparent and thorough investigation of the origin of the pandemic.

Instead choosing to devote enormous resources to deceit and disinformation, while nearly two million people have died, Ms Markson said.

Report: Kellyanne Conway Accused of Posting Nude Photo of Her Daughter Claudia on Twitter

Former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway was accused of sharing a nude photo of her daughter Monday on Twitter.

Twitter confirmed to Variety that it was investigating the matter. Kellyanne Conway allegedly shared the photo of her 16-year-old daughter Claudia Conway on her account (@KellyannePolls) using the Fleets feature, Variety reported. It is not clear whether Kellyanne herself shared the photo.

The photo was deleted but Twitter users were able to screenshot the photo, the outlet reported.

Claudia confirmed the photo was authentic in a since-deleted TikTok video Monday, according to Variety. . .

Teacher Union Leader Says ‘White Supremacy’ Fuels Reopening Efforts

The leader of a teachers union in Washington state is facing criticism after he said that reopening efforts are fueled by “white supremacy” and concerns over lockdown suicides were “white privilege.”

Scott Wilson, the president of the Pasco Association of Educators, made the comments during a Jan. 12 school board meeting, according to the Tri-City Herald.

“We must not ignore the culture of white supremacy and white privilege. We have seen it in the ‘free to breathe,’ reopen everything, rodeos and rallies that received county commissioner support. The same county commissioner directs our health,” Wilson said.

“No one wants remote learning, but it is the right thing to do. We know the equity concerns, virus transmission is high, heading higher, with so many ignoring and avoiding measures to stop the spread, remote learning is the right decision,” he added. . .

“They complain their students are suicidal without school or sports,” said Wilson. “As a father daily surviving the suicide of my son, I find these statements ignorant and another expression of white privilege. Tulsi Gabbard Labels Adam Schiff, John Brennan as ‘Domestic Enemies’ of the U.S.

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard issued a dire warning to the American people on Tuesday, expressing concern that “domestic enemies” of the United States, in the national security community and Big Tech industry, are plotting to create a “police state” in America.

Gabbard, who served as the U.S. representative for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District from 2013 to 2021, posted a video to social media in which she spoke out against efforts to expand the federal government’s national security powers after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. In the video, she called out former CIA Director John Brennan and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), two leading proponents of expanding national security powers, labeling them “domestic enemies” of the country.

“The mob who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to try to stop Congress from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities were behaving like domestic enemies of our country,” Gabbard said. “But let’s be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs and the oligarchs in Big Tech who are trying to undermine our constitutionally protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance are also domestic enemies — and much more powerful, and therefore dangerous, than the mob that stormed the Capitol.”

The video cuts to a clip from MSNBC of Brennan saying that members of the Biden administration “are now moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can about what looks very similar to insurgency movements that we see overseas.” Brennan was speaking of individuals and groups like those that formed the mob that laid siege to the Capitol. Why Everyone Is Laughing at the Democrats Minimum Wage Bill Right Now

. . .The Democrats have put forward their bill to raise the minimum wage to $15/hour…by 2025. Yeah, you read that right. Personally, there should be no minimum wage, which The New York Times editorial board supported in 1987. Let the market decide the wages for these low-skill workers:

No wonder, but still a mistake. Anyone working in America surely deserves a better living standard than can be managed on $3.35 an hour. But there’s a virtual consensus among economists that the minimum wage is an idea whose time has passed. Raising the minimum wage by a substantial amount would price working poor people out of the job market. A far better way to help them would be to subsidize their wages or – better yet – help them acquire the skills needed to earn more on their own.

An increase in the minimum wage to, say, $4.35 would restore the purchasing power of bottom-tier wages. It would also permit a minimum-wage breadwinner to earn almost enough to keep a family of three above the official poverty line. There are catches, however. It would increase employers’ incentives to evade the law, expanding the underground economy. More important, it would increase unemployment: Raise the legal minimum price of labor above the productivity of the least skilled workers and fewer will be hired.

If a higher minimum means fewer jobs, why does it remain on the agenda of some liberals?

Flashforward to 2021 and we know which side has won and what it has done for these workers. It’s screwed them—royally. They tried this in Seattle, and it’s ruined the restaurant business. Even USA Today was saying let’s pump the brakes on these minimum wage increases to $15/hour because studies and its application show that it hurts workers, cuts their hours, and kills their employment. It injects steroids into the automation timelines which eliminates a host of these minimum wage jobs as well. Federal Judge Blocks Biden’s 100-Day Deportation Freeze

A federal judge appointed by former President Donald Trump blocked President Joe Biden’s attempts to freeze the deportation of immigrants from the United States.

Texas Judge Drew Tipton’s order, reported by Reuters, temporarily suspends the Biden administration’s 100-day halt on deportations for at least 14 days and follows a lawsuit filed by the Texas Attorney General’s office.

“In one of its first of dozens of steps that harm Texas and the nation as a whole, the Biden administration directed DHS to violate federal immigration law and breach an agreement to consult and cooperate with Texas on that law. Our state defends the largest section of the southern border in the nation. Failure to properly enforce the law will directly and immediately endanger our citizens and law enforcement personnel,” Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement. “DHS itself has previously acknowledged that such a freeze on deportations will cause concrete injuries to Texas. I am confident that these unlawful and perilous actions cannot stand. The rule of law and security of our citizens must prevail.”

To Insults of U.S. Troops, Biden Administration Adds Forcing Female Soldiers to Shower With Men

The newly inaugurated Biden-Harris administration is off to a rocky start with military men and women. Serious affronts have come from Congress as well as the White House, adding insults to injuries with even more damage on the way. . .

As predicted, Biden issued an executive order creating special government privileges for gender identity and sexual orientation, a major policy reversal likely to affect the military first. Biden also reversed Trump’s order ending critical race theory (CRT) instruction programs in all government agencies. . .

President Biden is especially letting down military women, who will be ordered to share their private facilities with biological males who claim to be transgender. Directives issued during the Obama-Biden administration, such as the 2016 “Military Transgender Policy Implementation Handbook,” brushed off concerns about personal discomfort and worse. Women, said the guidebook, will just have to “get used to it.”

Eliminating any doubt, Biden’s order explicitly opens doors to sexual minorities who want “access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports” reserved for the opposite sex. Transgender ideology, which demands acceptance of the unscientific notion that gender is “designated” or “assigned at birth,” disregards psychological and biological realities.
