Student Journalist Fired for Expressing Religious Views Online

A rising senior at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, is suing his college newspaper following his termination for expressing Catholic doctrine on social media.

On June 9, 2020, the editor-in-chief of The Eyeopener, a student-led newspaper at Ryerson University, emailed part-time reporter Jonathan Bradley detailing how his Catholic views on sexuality made him ineligible to write for the publication. Bradley had made comments about what the Bible says about sexuality and transgenderism. He dubbed both a “sin.”

According to email correspondence obtained by The Daily Wire, Editor-in-Chief Catherine Abes terminated Bradley for allegedly creating an “unsafe” space for student journalists by expressing Catholic views online.

“Recently, The Eyeopener’s Twitter was tagged in a thread involving screenshots of a conversation in which you defended the notion that homosexuality as well as being transgender is considered a sin,” the email reads. “I fear that since you’ve made your opinion public, members of our community, especially queer, trans, and non-binary folks, would no longer feel safe if you are associated with the publication.”

Bradley is now suing the publication for alleged discrimination. In a copy of the lawsuit obtained by The Daily Wire, Bradley’s legal representation calls his termination “a dangerous precedent.” (Read more from “Student Journalist Fired for Expressing Religious Views Online” HERE)

NYC Mayor Calls for ‘Full Accounting’ of Cuomo’s Alleged Nursing Home Death Cover-Up

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday called for a “full accounting” of whether Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration withheld information about deaths from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus in nursing homes across the state.

The alleged coverup of New York’s nursing home deaths was first reported by the New York Post. In an audio recording obtained by the Post, Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo’s chief of staff, told a small group of Democratic lawmakers that the governor’s office “basically froze” when they were asked by the U.S. Department of Justice to turn in the data, because they worried that then-President Donald Trump would use the information as a “giant political football” against them.

“[President Trump] starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said during the private call, according to the NY Post. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

De Blasio, who has frequently been at odds with Cuomo over the handling of the CCP virus pandemic, said the Post’s report is “really disturbing” and “very troubling.”

“It’s very troubling. We’ve got to know more. We now need a full accounting of what happened,” de Blasio said on WNYC’s “The Brian Lehrer show.” (Read more from “NYC Mayor Calls for ‘Full Accounting’ of Cuomo’s Alleged Nursing Home Death Cover-Up” HERE)

Poll: Support for Third U.S. Political Party Hits Record High

Some six out of 10 people believe America needs a third political party to jockey with Republicans and Democrats because those parties are doing such a poor job, according to a new survey.

Just 33 percent of respondents said they think the two major parties do an adequate job, while 62 percent answered yes when asked by Gallup whether “parties do such a poor job representing the American people that a third party is needed.”

The figure represented a 5 percent increase from the last poll, in September 2020, and is a record high.

Pollsters found that half of respondents identify as political independents, another record, and that the public opinion of the Republican Party has declined to 37 percent favorable, versus 48 percent for the Democrat Party.

Gallup first asked people in 2003 whether they thought a third party was needed. At the time, 40 percent said yes. (Read more from “Poll: Support for Third U.S. Political Party Hits Record High” HERE)

Two Republicans Who Voted for Trump’s Conviction Were Immediately Censured

By Vox. In the hours after Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy (LA) and Richard Burr (NC) joined five other Republican senators in voting to convict former President Donald Trump on an article of impeachment for his role in inciting the January 6 insurrection, the state Republican parties in Louisiana and North Carolina wasted no time laying down a marker that the GOP still belongs to Trump.

The LAGOP and NCGOP each quickly censured Cassidy and Burr for their votes. In a statement posted to Twitter, the LAGOP wrote that it “condemn[s], in the strongest possible terms, the vote today by Sen. Cassidy to convict former President Trump,” while NCGOP Chair Michael Whatley released a statement denouncing Burr’s vote as “shocking and disappointing.” . . .

Burr was also mostly loyal to Trump throughout his term but is more free than some of his Republican colleagues to vote his conscience since he’s already announced he doesn’t plan to run for reelection next year. As Vox’s Li Zhou has reported, a recent Vox/Data for Progress poll found 69 percent of Republicans say they are less likely to support a senator who voted to convict Trump. Notably, one of the Republican running to fill Burr’s seat, former Rep. Mark Walker, was quick to post a tweet condemning the senator’s vote.

Report: Foreign Nationals Traveling to U.S. to Get Coronavirus Vaccine Before Americans

Foreign nationals from a number of countries, but mostly Mexico, are flocking to the United States to get the vaccine for the Chinese coronavirus even as nearly 90 percent of Americans have yet to receive their first dose.

A report in the Washington Post detailed how likely thousands of foreign nationals are traveling to the U.S. to get the coronavirus vaccine, cutting in line before about 280 million Americans who have not yet been vaccinated.

The Post reports:

One of Mexico’s best-known TV hosts sat in a car, masked, looking straight ahead while a needle was plunged into his bare upper arm. Juan Jose “Pepillo” Origel was the latest Mexican national to get the coronavirus vaccine — by coming to the United States. [Emphasis added]

“I’ve known lots of Mexicans, thousands, who have gone to get the vaccine in the U.S.,” he added. “And nothing happened. In San Antonio, Laredo, all along the Mexican border, Mexicans are going to get the vaccine.” [Emphasis added]

Experts Nationwide Warn Women That COVID Vaccine Mimics Cancer Conditions, Advise Delay of Mammograms

By The Salt Lake Tribune. Health experts nationwide, including a prominent Utah doctor, are warning women who get the COVID-19 vaccine to wait at least a month before getting a routine mammogram — because of a side effect of the vaccine that mimics a condition often seen in cancer diagnoses.

“We don’t want patients to get these false positives, to have this sort of alarm,” said Dr. Brett Parkinson, medical director of Intermountain Healthcare’s Breast Care Center.

Parkinson said the center’s doctors, as well as physicians across the nation, have noticed that some people who get the COVID-19 vaccine have had the side effect of swollen lymph nodes in the axilla, or the armpit area. In itself, such swelling isn’t serious, and it usually subsides within four weeks. . .

However, when such swelling in the lymph nodes in the armpit shows up during a routine mammogram, Parkinson said, a doctor likely would call a patient back in for a more detailed examination. Such swelling, he said, can be a sign of metastatic breast cancer — a cancer that has spread beyond the breast — or lymphoma or leukemia. MMR Vaccine may protect against COVID

By Very Well Health. As the world faces a slow start to the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, some researchers have suggested that older vaccines might provide temporary protection. One study from this past November suggests there might be a link between mumps antibodies (which many people acquire through vaccination) and less severe COVID-19. . .

One notable example of the difference in death rates and MMR vaccination efforts in Venezuela. The country recently gained control of a large measles outbreak through a country-wide vaccination campaign geared toward nine million children between 6 months to 15 years.

Gold says that delivering 13 million doses of the MMR vaccine was unmatched with vaccination efforts in neighboring countries such as Colombia and Brazil. By 2019, Venezuela had reduced the number of deaths by 91%—reporting only 548 cases and three deaths.

Gold noticed that increased MMR vaccination appeared to be associated with decreased COVID-19 deaths. “Venezuela has had only 39 deaths per million from COVID-19,” he says. “On the other hand, its immediate neighbors Colombia and Brazil have each had 957 deaths per million and 986 deaths per million respectively.” (Read more from “MMR Vaccine may protect against COVID” HERE)

Unborn Baby Saved After Pregnant Mother Killed in Murder-Suicide

A pregnant woman was killed this morning in an apparent murder-suicide in Scottsboro, but her child was safely delivered.

Scottsboro Police responded to a suspicious vehicle stopped in the intersection of Maple Street and North Houston Street around 6:15 a.m. today. Upon arriving, officers discovered two people dead inside the vehicle from fatal gunshot wounds.

Scottsboro Fire Chief Gene Necklaus said first responders determined quickly that the woman was in an advanced state of pregnancy, and that the fetus might still be viable. . .

Medics transported the woman to Highlands Medical Center where a four-pound baby boy was delivered less than an hour after the discovery, Necklaus said. The child was then transported to Huntsville Hospital. (Read more from “Unborn Baby Saved After Pregnant Mother Killed in Murder-Suicide” HERE)

WATCH: White House Won’t Say Whether Israel Is a U.S. Ally in Latest Biden Disaster

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki committed a major foreign policy fumble on Friday as President Joe Biden faces continued criticism that he is giving the cold shoulder to the country’s most crucial Middle East ally, Israel. . .

During Friday’s briefing, a reporter asked Psaki, “Can you please just give a broad sense of what the administration is trying to achieve in the Middle East? For example, does the administration still consider the Saudis and the Israelis important allies?”

“Uh, well, uh,” Psaki quickly replied before launching into a signature Psaki Circle Back, which is to say, she proceeded to do anything but actually answer this incredibly pertinent question.

Dr. Fauci Has a New Caveat in Order for Schools to Reopen (VIDEO)

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday changed his tuned – yet again – about the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. This time, Fauci said Congress needs to pass President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan before kids return to the classroom. According to the infectious disease expert, schools and teachers need “more resources” in order to safely reopen.

“I think that the schools really do need more resources and that’s the reason why the national relief act that we’re talking about getting passed, we need that. The schools need more resources,” Fauci told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

According to the doctor, the Centers for Disease Control’s new guidelines, which include making vaccines for teachers a priority (but not a requirement) and adjusting hybrid and fully in-person learning based on community spread, is the first time the guidelines have been put on paper.

Top Biden COVID Adviser Wrong About Spiking COVID-19 Numbers (Again)

President Joe Biden’s top COVID-19 adviser wrongly predicted that Florida would experience a large, “house on fire” virus outbreak unrivaled by states with lockdown restrictions due to Gov. Ron DeSantis’s reopening orders.

“Florida is ripe for another large outbreak,” Dr. Michael Osterholm told CNN’s Jake Tapper in October. “What they’ve done is opened up everything as if nothing had ever happened there. And you and I could be talking probably in eight to 10 weeks and I will likely bet that Florida will be a house on fire.”

Osterholm also ragged on North Dakota and South Dakota for maintaining anti-lockdown and mask policies that he labeled as political decisions motivated by “pseudoscience.” Despite Osterholm’s previously failed projections and his drastic vacillations on COVID mitigation strategies, Tapper praised the adviser for “being right the whole time” about COVID-19.

“I wish that at one point you had been wrong in any of the things that you’ve projected and predicted, but you’ve been right the whole time and it just must be maddening,” Tapper said, shaking his head.

Osterholm made a similar mistake in November when he wrongly predicted that hospitals would be “collapsing” by early December. (Read more from “Top Biden COVID Adviser Wrong About Spiking COVID-19 Numbers (Again)” HERE)
