Dems Have Another Idea To Punish Trump if Senate Acquits Him

As the impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump continues on, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) did not rule out another avenue to punish the former president if he is ultimately acquitted by the Senate.

The New York Democrat indicated that his party could invoke section 3 of the 14th amendment, which allows Congress to ban those who have engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” from running for public office.

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who…shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” the amendment reads, adding that Congress shall “have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions.”

WATCH: House Dem Mocks Republican Colleague’s Impoverished Upbringing

Wisconsin Democratic congresswoman Gwen Moore ridiculed a Republican colleague for sharing the story of his impoverished upbringing during a Wednesday committee hearing.

Rep. Kevin Hern (R., Okla.) began his remarks before the House Ways and Means Committee by recalling his poverty-stricken childhood. Hern noted that he grew up unsure “if the lights would still be on … or if there would be food on the table” when he got home from school, adding that his stepfather developed a “dependence on government aid” that incentivized him to “stay home rather than work.”

For Hern, the anecdote showed that he “personally understood” the GOP’s opposition to a proposed five-month unemployment boost in President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package. For Moore, it was a “boogeyman troll” attempt to ignore the plight of children “languishing in poverty.”

“Listen, colleagues, the lazy stepfather welfare queen boogeyman troll must not be paraded out again to steer us from our imperative to intervene in this national crisis,” Moore said. “These families, these children, need our help right now.”

Biden’s Son-in-Law Added To List of Family Ethical Dilemmas

One of President Biden’s in-laws is walking a fine ethical line with his health tech venture capital firm that’s leveraged his family connections amid the coronavirus pandemic as the new White House deals with a growing list of ethical questions.

Howard Krein’s StartUp Health was reportedly sought by executives from tech firm Yosi Health in December for help pitching its software that aims to streamline COVID-19 vaccine efforts to government officials.

Krein, a head and shoulder surgeon and StartUp Health’s chief medical adviser, has been married to first daughter Ashley Biden since 2012, a year after he co-founded the firm with his brother, Steven Krein, and tech entrepreneur Unity Stoakes. Through StartUp Health, he and his business partners have invested almost $2 billion in more than 350 ventures.

Yosi Health’s outreach was reported by ABC News, but Biden’s support of StartUp Health is a matter of public record. As vice president, he invited StartUp Health executives to the Oval Office to meet his boss, former President Barack Obama. And as a private citizen, he spoke at the company’s conferences. Twitter Goes After James O’Keefe and Project Veritas for Exposing Facebook Censorship

Twitter restricted journalist James O’Keefe’s Twitter account, as well as that of his founding organization Project Veritas on Thursday morning, citing violation of “rules against posting private information.”

This decision by Twitter comes after Project Veritas’s reporting on Facebook Vice President Guy Rosen saying the Big Tech platform intentionally “freezes,” via algorithms, comments where hate speech “may be.”

Project Veritas captured Rosen saying the following during a leaked internal Facebook call meeting. The clips were released Wednesday.

“We have a system that is able to freeze commenting on threads in cases where our systems are detecting that there may be a thread that has hate speech or violence. … These are all things we’ve built over the past three-four years as part of our investments into the integrity space, our efforts to protect the election.”

The moves by Big Tech to silence opinions and voices they don’t like are running rampant. In an announcement on Feb. 8, Facebook claimed it is “expanding our efforts to remove false claims on Facebook and Instagram about COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccines and vaccines in general during the pandemic.”

CDC: Fully Vaccinated People Do Not Need To Quarantine if Exposed To COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now say that fully vaccinated people who have been exposed to COVID-19 do not need to quarantine. . .

Newly updated advice on the CDC website states that quarantining for fully vaccinated people is unnecessary, according to NBC News.

The CDC defines “fully vaccinated” as two weeks passing after a person received the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine.

“In the updated guidance, the CDC said such quarantining is not necessary for fully vaccinated people within three months of having received their last doses as long as they do not develop any symptoms,” NBC News reported.

The CDC’s website states, “Fully vaccinated persons who meet criteria will no longer be required to quarantine following an exposure to someone with COVID-19.” (Read more from “CDC: Fully Vaccinated People Do Not Need To Quarantine if Exposed To COVID-19” HERE)

Illegals Rushing To the Border With Biden in Office as Admin Opens New Tent City

The Biden administration is facing fresh spikes of over 200 percent in illegal border crossings from this time last year and has opened another tent city to detain illegal immigrants in Texas, US Customs and Border Protection has announced.

The Border Patrol revealed in a report released Wednesday that the number of migrants apprehended at the border in the month of January reached nearly 78,000, up from 36,679 in January 2020.

Single adult Mexican citizens accounted for more than 37,000 CBP encounters, a 119 percent increase from this time last year, according to the agency.

Amid the surge, a new “soft-sided facility” was established this week by the agency in Donna, Texas, to hold individuals originally staying at the Centralized Processing Center in McAllen, Texas.

The Donna facility is “weatherproof, climate-controlled, and provide[s] ample areas for eating, sleeping, and personal hygiene,” CBP said in a statement Tuesday. (Read more from “Illegals Rushing To the Border With Biden in Office as Admin Opens New Tent City” HERE)

Georgia’s New Democrat Senator Is Under Investigation for Voter Registration Fraud

Georgia’s newly minted Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock is under investigation for voter registration fraud which allegedly took place during his work with far-left activist Stacey Abrams. Forbes has the story:

The Georgia State Election Board voted unanimously Wednesday to move forward with an investigation of U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) for his role serving as board chairman of a voter registration organization founded by Stacey Abrams that election officials say failed to follow deadlines, in what appears to be the latest legal step in the ongoing feud between the progressive Abrams and the state’s Republican election officials.

Warnock served as chairman of the board for the New Georgia Project in 2019 when election officials claim misconduct took place.

Under Georgia election rules, voting registration organizations like the New Georgia Project have to submit completed voter applications within 10 days they are received from the voter.

Unity: Prof Who Mocked Barron Trump Joins Biden Admin

Stanford Law School professor Pamela Karlan, who mocked former President Donald Trump’s son Barron Trump during his impeachment trial, is joining the Biden administration.

Stanford law professor Pamela Karlan — who is known for mocking Barron Trump during an impeachment hearing — will now act as principal deputy assistant attorney general in President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, according to multiple reports.

In 2019, Karlan fell under scrutiny for invoking the name of Trump’s 13-year-old son in an attempt to criticize the president during the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on impeachment.

“The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” the professor had said during the impeachment hearing.

Karlan’s apparent attempt at a pun earned her plenty of backlash from members of Congress, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Donald Trump Jr., and First Lady Melania Trump, among others. (Read more from “Unity: Prof Who Mocked Barron Trump Joins Biden Admin” HERE)

GOP Senator Forces Dems To Correct False Impeachment Testimony

Democrats presenting their second impeachment case against President Trump have been forced by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to revise their evidence because it was false.

“They are contrary to fact,” Lee said of comments that came from Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I.

Cicilline, as part of the Democrats new impeachment case, claimed that “Lee said former President Donald Trump was trying to convince Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., to delay the certification of the presidential on Jan. 6 as a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol,” according to Fox. . .

“Tonight the House impeachment managers made false statements mischaracterizing Sen. Lee’s account of a phone conversation between President Trump and Senator Tuberville,” A Lee spokesman told Fox. . .

Lee explained he is the only witness, and “Those statements are not true … were not made by me and they’re not accurate.” (Read more from “GOP Senator Forces Dems To Correct False Impeachment Testimony” HERE)

Trump Impeachment Trial Day Two; WATCH: GOP Senators Not Impressed by ‘Disorganized’ Trump Legal Team; Cruz: Impeachment ‘a Lot of Moralizing, Venting ‘Hatred for Donald Trump’

By Townhall. Conservative firebrand Sean Hannity interviewed Trump impeachment lawyer David Schoen on his show Tuesday night and pressed him on whether the former president’s legal team will be better prepared as the trial continues in the Senate.

Hannity isn’t the only one who noticed the team’s lackluster and oftentimes confusing performance. A number of Republican senators, many who are Trump allies, are speaking out about the arguments that were made.

Cruz: Impeachment ‘a Lot of Moralizing, Venting ‘Hatred for Donald Trump’

By Breitbart. . .The Texas Republican lawmaker signified there was room for improvement for Trump’s defense but decried House managers’ impeachment effort as “moralizing” and venting of “hatred for Donald Trump.

“Well, there’s no doubt that lawyers could tighten it up some, but at the end of the day, I think today typified what we’re going to see this week, which it reminds me of Shakespeare,” he said. “It’s full of sound and fury signifying nothing. We’re going to see this week a whole lot of Democrats pounding the table. We’re going to see a lot of moralizing and a lot of really venting their hatred for Donald Trump. In case you haven’t been paying attention the last four years, the Democrats really, really hate Donald Trump, and they’re going to attack President Trump over and over again, every way they can. They’re going to bring in — you know, the idea that they’ve got — you know, Swalwell coming in.” (Read more from “Cruz: Impeachment ‘a Lot of Moralizing, Venting ‘Hatred for Donald Trump’” HERE)
