Poll: 56% Favor Trump Conviction

A majority of Americans want to see the Senate convict former President Donald Trump, a CBS News/YouGov survey released Tuesday found.

The survey, conducted February 5-8, asked 2,508 U.S. residents if the Senate should convict Trump for the incitement of insurrection, stemming from the riot that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 as members of Congress gathered to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. The survey asked:

As you may know, the House of Representatives impeached Donald Trump for inciting violence against the government of the United States, and now the Senate will hold a trial. Based on what you know so far, what do you think the Senate should do in that trial?

A majority, or 56 percent, said the Senate should convict Trump, while 44 percent said lawmakers should not convict the former president.

The survey also found the same majority of voters, 56 percent, believe Trump’s words and actions leading up to the protest “encouraged violence at the Capitol.” Thirty-one percent said his words and actions had no impact, and 13 percent said Trump’s conduct “discouraged” violence. Minnesota Shooting: Gunman Reportedly Opens Fire Inside Health Clinic

A gunman opened fire inside a Minnesota health clinic Tuesday morning, leaving at least five people critically wounded — and then at least one bomb went off inside the facility, according to authorities, officials and preliminary emergency dispatch audio.

Police responded to the Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo, about 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis, just before 11 a.m. local time, Wright County spokesman John Holler told The Post in an email.

At least five victims were injured during the shooting and the gunman was taken into custody shortly before noon, Holler said.

A male caller from the scene reported there were multiple explosive devices that went off inside the building, emergency dispatch audio reveals, with one officer on scene saying “we see evidence of that.” . . .

In a YouTube video posted by Punnam Chander Veerati, a gigantic crocodile ate some sharks that appeared to wash up on the beach.

The video’s YouTube description reads as follows:

In Australia, Alligators are common in northern part. In this video, a salt water crocodile came as close to 3 meter from the person who shot the video to eat baby sharks. The person was fishing on the shore. It’s very dangerous in this area and always have to watchful around for these monsters. LIFE AND DEATH ISSUE.

Lincoln Project Knew of Co-Founder Sex Allegations Months Before NYT Report

Senior members of the Lincoln Project were made aware of John Weaver’s interactions with vulnerable young men as early as August 2020, according to a report published Tuesday in the Washington Blade.

Weaver cut ties with the controversial super PAC in January after dozens of young men accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior. Lincoln Project executives, however, did not publicly comment on the scandal until early February, after the New York Times published a story.

Lincoln Project cofounder Steve Schmidt told the Times that the group’s leaders saw social media posts over the summer that suggested Weaver, who is married with children, might have had relationships with young men but insisted “there was no awareness or insinuations of any type of inappropriate behavior when we became aware of the chatter at the time.”

The Blade obtained electronic communications that reportedly undermine Schmidt’s claim about what the Lincoln Project’s leaders knew at the time:

These electronic messages, which date back to August 2020 and include Lincoln Project cofounder Mike Madrid, showed that leadership was made aware of allegations about Weaver from reporters who were investigating it, and had begun discussions of how to respond to any fallout.

Biden’s America: COVID Restrictions for Americans, but Not Illegal Aliens

. . .COVID-19 is something to take seriously if you are in a high-risk category, but now that we have more effective treatments for those who are infected and we have vaccine distribution at an all-time high, you would think Democrats, including President Joe Biden, would be projecting more optimism into finally putting this dark age behind us. Instead, we have got nothing but doom and gloom. The White House recently stated if you are vaccinated, you still need to wear a mask and not gather in groups. The Biden administration has also taken the side of teacher unions who want to stay out of the classroom despite the science showing schools are not epicenters of COVID-19 outbreaks. . .

If you want to fly into the United States, you need to have a negative test before being allowed to enter. But the rules are different if you cross the border illegally. Under the Trump administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection had been using the Center for Disease Control’s Title 42 policy, which allowed border patrol agents to expedite deportations to avoid overcrowding their facilities so COVID-19 can’t spread among those detained. . .

Despite this known risky behavior, the Biden administration has reversed many of Trump’s immigration policies that you would think they would want to keep in place because of the pandemic. Now, in border towns such as McAllen, Texas, we’re seeing the opposite. Groups of migrants who have just crossed are being dropped off at bus stations, oftentimes without being tested for COVID-19. Where they go is up to them and it’s unlikely they’ll be seen again. At the same time, the Rio Grande Valley has been one of the worst-hit areas in Texas.

If Americans engaged in similar behavior, you could imagine how Democrats and the media would react. Except you don’t have to imagine it. Democrats and their allies in the media have been throwing temper tantrums at the sight of people in Florida not wear masks and celebrating in the streets after Sunday’s Super Bowl. Democrats Threaten to Punish Trump for Not Testifying at Impeachment Trial

By Breitbart. Democrats reiterated Monday a threat to punish former President Donald Trump for not testifying at the impeachment trial in the Senate, which begins Tuesday.

In a short filing responding to Trump’s lawyer’s 75-page trial memorandum, submitted Monday, the House impeachment managers — all Democrats hand-picked by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) — wrote:

[T]he House has invited President Trump to voluntarily testify under oath, yet President Trump immediately rejected that opportunity to tell his story. The House will establish at trial that this decision to avoid testifying supports a strong adverse inference regarding President Trump’s actions (and inaction) on January 6.

The Democrats were responding to Trump’s lawyers’ claim that Democrats’ rushed impeachment, which defied all previous procedural conventions governing impeachment in the House, denied the president the constitutional due process of law.

The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides that “No person … shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The impeachment trial is not a criminal case; however, many constitutional scholars argue that the same principles ought to apply — there, above all. Schumer, McConnell Reach Deal on Trump Impeachment Trial

By The Hill. Senate leadership announced on Monday that they have reached a deal on the framework for former President Trump’s impeachment trial, which will start on Tuesday.

“For the information of the Senate, the Republican leader and I, in consultation with both the House managers and Former President Trump’s lawyers, have agreed to a bipartisan resolution to govern the structure and timing of the impending trial,” Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said from the Senate floor.

“All parties have agreed to a structure that will ensure a fair and honest Senate impeachment trial of the former president,” Schumer said.

Creepy Joe Gets Flirty With Nurse Running Vaccine Site: ‘You Look Like a Freshman!’

. . .President Biden had an awkward, flirty moment Monday during a video conference event with health care workers in Arizona, during which he stopped to compliment one nurse for her youthful appearance — even gushing that she looks “like a freshman.”

Biden got up to some of his “creepy” old antics when he responded to the nursing supervisor’s detailed description of giving COVID-19 shots by asking her about her age.

“Are you a freshman at the university?” Biden asked Brittney Hayes at the end of a conversation in which she had laid out the process for getting shots to people at the State Farm Stadium vaccination site in Glendale.

“Noo. No,” said Hayes, who had described herself as being from the Arizona State University at the start of the talk — but who made clear she was the “head charge nurse” at the vaccination site.

“You look like a freshman!” Biden said, chuckling.

GOP Senator Compares Trump Impeachment Proceedings to Soviet ‘Show Trial’

By The Hill. Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) knocked Democrats on Sunday over the speed at which the House voted to impeach former President Trump last month, comparing it to a “show trial,” the likes of which he said would have been found in the Soviet Union.

Speaking with host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Cassidy said he believed House Democrats had done an “incredibly poor job” at building a case for impeachment ahead of their vote last month. Ten House Republicans joined Democrats in voting in favor of impeaching Trump over inciting an insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“The president wasn’t there. He wasn’t allowed counsel. They didn’t amass evidence. In five hours, they kind of judged, and boom, he’s impeached,” Cassidy said. “Now, I’m told that under the Watergate, under the Clinton impeachments, there were truckloads of information. Here, there was a video. There was no process. I mean, it’s almost like, you know, if it happened in the Soviet Union, you would’ve called it a show trial.”

Cassidy went on to claim that there was no “defensible process” behind the House’s impeachment vote. Despite the characterization and criticism of the proceedings, Cassidy claimed he would act as an impartial juror. Biden Admin Yanks Maternity Leave From Trump Appointees Days Before Some Give Birth

President Joe Biden’s administration denied multiple President Trump-era aides their previously established maternity leave, some days before birth, reports Politico.

Even though some Trump aides made arrangements for parental leave early in 2021 in advance of their children’s births, multiple federal employees were told shortly before or after their babies arrived that the benefits would no longer be extended to them after Biden and his team took office.

Some families pleaded with the new administration to honor the previous agreements, one couple writing that they were counting on the leave to deal with “unforeseen complications” during the birth of their child.

“[T]he remaining 9-10 weeks afforded to federal employees is critical to our family and livelihoods as we work to raise a strong, healthy boy under unique and unforeseen complications to our birth plan,” the married Department of Homeland Security officials wrote.

But their calls were disregarded by Biden’s transition team, which said the officials’ previously pledged benefits including payroll ended when former President Donald Trump departed the White House. Continuity between administrations is a long-established tradition in the interests of fairness and unity.

BOMBSHELL: Tucker Carlson Alleges Bank of America Tracking Conservative “Extremists,” Giving Away Data to the Feds without Warrants

By Townhall. . .According to Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, the second largest bank in the United States is reportedly assisting federal law enforcement agencies in this effort unbeknownst to its customers.

Bank of America “is actively but secretly engaged in the hunt for extremists in cooperation with the government,” he said. “Bank of America is, without the knowledge or the consent of its customers, sharing private information with federal law enforcement agencies. Bank of America effectively is acting as an intelligence agency, but they’re not telling you about it.”

According to the exclusive evidence his program obtained, BoA allegedly combed through the financial records from its more than 60 million customers looking for those who “fit a specific profile.”

Here’s what that profile was: “1. Customers confirmed as transacting, either through bank account debit card or credit card purchases in Washington, D.C. between 1/5 and 1/6. 2. Purchases made for Hotel/Airbnb RSVPs in DC, VA, and MD after 1/6. 3. Any purchase of weapons or at a weapons-related merchant between 1/7 and their upcoming suspected stay in D.C. area around Inauguration Day. 4. Airline related purchases since 1/6.” . . .

Bank of America identified a total of 211 customers who met these “thresholds of interest.” At that point, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” has learned, Bank of America turned over the results of its internal scan to federal authorities, apparently without notifying the customers who were being spied upon. Federal investigators then interviewed at least one of these unsuspecting people. That person, we’ve learned, hadn’t done anything wrong and was cleared. (Fox News)

Bank of America Gave Private Info To FBI in Capitol-Riot Probe

By WND. The Bank of America has acknowledged it secretly turned over to federal investigators the private financial information of customers who made purchases in and around Washington, D.C., at the time of the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. . .

Responding to a request for comment, Bank of America insisted it was acting in compliance with the law.

“We don’t comment on our communications with law enforcement. All banks have responsibilities under federal law to cooperate with law enforcement inquiries in full compliance with the law,” the statement said.

Carlson noted there’s been “an enormous amount of talk in the last month about violent extremism and the dangerous people who’ve embraced it.”
