First State Drops All COVID-19 Restrictions (VIDEO)

By The Blaze. Texas is fully reopening and the statewide mask mandate will be rescinded this week, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced Tuesday.

“Effective next Wednesday, all businesses of any type are allowed to open 100%,” the governor said at a news conference announcing an end to restrictions imposed to slow the spread of COVID-19. Abbott said declining hospitalization rates across the state and increased distribution of virus vaccines were reasons to end the coronavirus restrictions.

“Texas is in a far better position now than when I issued my last executive order back in October,” Abbott explained.

He indicated that if a private business still wishes to limit its capacity or enforce other virus safety precautions, the business would be free to do so without a government mandate.

“It is their business, and they get to choose to operate their business the way they want to,” Abbott said. “At this time, however, people and businesses don’t need the state telling them how to operate.”

Mississippi Announces Businesses Free To Reopen Without State-Imposed Coronavirus Rules

By Fox Business. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves joined Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday in announcing that all businesses within his state will be allowed to resume unrestricted operations, nearly one year after President Donald Trump declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency.

Reeves acknowledged that restrictions put in place to protect the public health were “unprecedented” and needed to be lifted as soon as possible.

As of Wednesday businesses in Mississippi will be able to resume full operations without any state interference and residents will no longer be subject to county mask mandates.

Dems Move to Mandate Background Checks for Gun Sales

Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Rep. Mike Thompson of California reintroduced legislation Tuesday to expand federal background checks on gun sales, the Hill reported.

The Background Check Expansion Act, if passed, would require a background check of all gun sales and purchases between all unlicensed sellers and buyers. The background checks would not apply to law enforcement officers, loaning firearms for hunting, temporary transfers for self-defense, or receiving a firearm as a gift from a family member, the Hill reported.

The bill is co-sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and 43 Senate Democrats, the Hill reported. Thompson, who reintroduced the legislation to the House of Representatives, is the chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

“For years, the bipartisan House-passed background checks bill languished in the Senate under Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. Now, with Senate Democrats in the Majority, we have the opportunity to act on this overwhelmingly popular, lifesaving legislation to protect American communities,” Schumer said in a press release, according to The Hill.

White House Set to Impose Sanctions on Russia

The Biden administration will slap sanctions on Russian officials and businesses on Tuesday after the US intelligence community concluded that opposition leader Alexei Navalny had been nearly killed by a nerve-agent poisoning attack carried out by a Russian spy agency.

The sanctions will be imposed under the US Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act for 14 businesses.

Administration officials did not identify the Russian officials who would be targeted by the sanctions – the first against Moscow by President Biden.

Biden Taxes: $2,000 per Family and 40-Cents a Gallon

Grover Norquist has seen the coming onslaught of Democratic taxes and regulations before. And despite the likely hit it will have on the economy, personal incomes, and 401(k) retirement portfolios, he sees a potential upside that could stall or reverse the effects.

“Joe Biden is doing exactly what [Bill] Clinton did to lose the House and Senate and exactly what Obama did to lose the House,” said the president of Americans for Tax Reform. “Massive tax hikes, massive spending, and then poking on the other issues,” he explained.

And, he said, while former President Donald Trump also suffered midterm election defeats, any losses in the 2022 midterm elections will be because of the public’s rejection of liberal policies, not presidential tweets and nonstop investigations. . .

In an interview at his downtown Washington office, Norquist mocked Biden’s campaign promise not to raise taxes for people earning $400,000 or less.

Alleged Sex Pest Andrew Cuomo Hires Lawyer Who Defended Harvey Weinstein, Woody Allen

Embattled governor Andrew Cuomo (D., N.Y.) has retained the services of a high-powered criminal defense attorney who defended Harvey Weinstein and Woody Allen against allegations of sexual assault.

Elkan Abramowitz, a former federal prosecutor with close ties to Manhattan district attorney Cy Vance, will serve as legal counsel to the governor and his top aides, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

New York attorney general Letitia James is investigating the Cuomo administration on several fronts. Three women have now accused the governor of sexual harassment. Allegations include unwanted kissing and touching, as well as inappropriate or suggestive comments, such as asking a 25-year-old female subordinate if she “had ever been with an older man” while the pair were alone in his office. . .

Abramowitz, who represented Cuomo during a federal investigation into the governor’s decision to prematurely dismantle an anti-corruption panel he created in 2013, will have his work cut out for him. The lawyer has certainly made a name for himself as the go-to legal counsel for celebrity sex pests.

In 2015, Abramowitz made a $2,100 campaign contribution to Manhattan district attorney Cy Vance after Vance dropped groping charges against his client, Harvey Weinstein. FBI Director Refuses To Reveal Cause of Capitol Police Officer’s Death

Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died only a few hours after the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

For weeks, legacy media outlets proclaimed he was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher in the hands of supporters of President Trump. . .

It still remains a secret, according to FBI chief Christopher Wray.

He told a congressional hearing this week: “There is an ongoing investigation into his death. I have to be careful at this stage, because it’s ongoing, not to get out in front of it.” . . .

On Tuesday big pharmacy companies Merck and Johnson & Johnson announced a partnership to work together on Wuhan coronavirus vaccine distribution.

“President Joe Biden will announce Tuesday that pharmaceutical giant Merck will help make Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine, a senior administration official confirmed to NBC News…Under the arrangement, Merck will dedicate two facilities in the U.S. to J&J’s vaccine, the Washington Post reported earlier. One will make the vaccine and the other will provide “fill-finish” services, when the vaccine is placed in vials,” CNBC reports. “J&J declined to comment to CNBC on the deal. In a statement, Merck said it ‘remains steadfast in our commitment to contribute to the global response to the pandemic and to preparing to address future pandemics.'”

During the daily briefing at the White House Tuesday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was pressed on why President Biden is taking credit for the partnership since it was developed during the Trump administration under Operation Warp Speed.

MetaHuman’s first generation of digital androids is about as creepy as you’d imagine, if only because their presentation is so natural. Their facial movements mimic genuine emotions. Watching the demos, you’ll notice tiny pores, subtle wrinkles, hints of tooth crud, and even peach fuzz catching the backlight. The facial palette offers a wide range of skin tones, hairstyles, and bone structures. . .

Ultimately, this software will democratize deepfakes. It starts with innocent pranks, and ends in international scandals. As the fakes pile up, normal people will increasingly approach media with schizoid skepticism—a trend well underway. Any video evidence a person wants to ignore can be dismissed as a “deepfake.”

The inevitable explosion of phony content will also strengthen our self-designated “legitimate news sources” as the sole arbiters of what is real. A video of a woman having a little boy read from “The GayBCs” — a children’s book that uses letters of the alphabet to introduce readers as young as 4 years old to LGBTQ words — has been making quite a stir on social media.

The video begins with the little boy reading aloud the word for letter A: “ally.” Then the woman with him is heard introducing the rest of the letters, beginning with “B is for” — and the tyke answers “bi.”

While some of the words don’t possess immediate LGBTQ connotations — H is for “hope” and M is for “mountain,” for instance — others like “bi” hit right at the heart of it. And little boy with his cute little-boy voice reads all of them[.] . .

Man Accused of Raping Girl, 13, in Government-Run Quarantine Hotel

A 21-year-old Israeli man allegedly raped and beat a 13-year-old girl while they were housed in a quarantine hotel operated by the state’s welfare system, according to reports.

“This is a despicable act,” the girl’s mother said during a virtual hearing Tuesday for the suspect, Yarin Sherf, The Times of Israel reported.

“With my legs trembling and a broken heart I ask to punish the cruel criminal. He has finished off the girl’s life with a cruel act,” she said, explaining that her daughter will “forever be scarred.”

“The criminal should not see the light of day, a beastly man who has no control of his urges,” the devastated mom continued. . .
