Biden to Sign Executive Order Raising Federal Minimum Wage

President Joe Biden is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday that would raise the minimum wage for federal contractors and tipped employees working on government contracts to $15 an hour, senior administration officials said.

The raise from $10.95 an hour would begin in January, and agencies would have to implement the measure no later than March. Biden has signed a separate order to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour for federal employees.

The new order also directs federal agencies to raise the tipped minimum hourly wage to $15 by 2024 and to ensure that tipped employees working on federal contracts earn the same minimum wage as other employees on federal contracts.

GOP Senator Mocks Kamala Harris, Saying Her ‘GPS Got Confused’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz joined New Hampshire Republicans in slamming Vice President Kamala Harris for visiting the Granite State before traveling to the southern border.

“GPS got confused….” the Texas Republican wrote on Twitter of news that Harris was traveling to the northern border state.

“Montreal is going to invade,” Cruz added in a separate tweet.

Both Cruz and Harris have some history in Canada. Cruz, 50, was born in Calgary, where his parents lived before moving to Texas when he was a young child. By The Blaze. President Joe Biden’s immigration policies are driving the migrant surge and ensuing border crisis, according to a Customs and Border Protection intelligence alert that was issued earlier this month.

Despite the largest wave of migrants in two decades overwhelming American immigration resources, Biden’s administration has refused to acknowledge the humanitarian crisis unfolding at the southern U.S. border. They have, literally, refused to call the situation a “crisis.”

Instead, the White House blames problems in the Northern Triangle region of Central America — which includes Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador — for the push of migrants north to America.

“The president does not feel that children coming to our border seeking refuge from violence, economic hardships, and other dire circumstances is a crisis,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this week. “He does feel that the crisis in Central America — the dire circumstances that many are fleeing from — that that is a situation we need to spend our time or effort on and we need to address it if we’re going to prevent more of an influx of migrants from coming in years to come. Former Bush, Trump Officials Lobby Joe Biden to Bring More Refugees to U.S.

By Breitbart. Former administration officials who worked for Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump are lobbying President Joe Biden to bring more refugees to the United States. . .

Biden had kept the refugee cap at 15,000 for this fiscal year but following backlash from the refugee and migration lobby, as well as Democrats, his administration reversed course and now says they plan to increase the number of refugees admitted to the U.S.

In a letter to Biden this month, former Bush and Trump administration officials are asking Biden to surge the number of refugees admitted this fiscal year by more than 316 percent.

The letter states:

We are writing in response to your administration’s recent decision to maintain the historically low refugee cap of 15,000 with the expectation that you will increase it by May 15, 2021. We are deeply disappointed that U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) has not yet been fortified, and we encourage your Administration to be more transparent and forthcoming with information regarding increases to the USRAP. ‘I Can’t Get to Central America Soon Enough’: Kamala Says Migrant Surge Will ‘Not Be Solved Overnight’ as She Prepares to Meet With Central American Leaders – but Still Makes No Mention of a Trip to the Border

By Daily Mail. Kamala Harris said in a Sunday interview that she hasn’t visited Central America in her capacity as border ‘czar’ yet because of coronavirus complications.

‘Yes, we’re working on a plan to get there, we’re working through COVID issues,’ Harris told CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ as she pushes her position on addressing ‘root causes’ in Northern Triangle countries that cause citizens to flee to the U.S. ‘I can’t get there soon enough.’

‘That is a big part of what is going on,’ the vice president continued.

Earlier this month, Harris said that she is planning a visit ‘soon’ to Guatemala with a stop in Mexico. Later her administration said the trip is being planned for June.

She said, however, that she will not be visiting the border during that trip because Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is in charge of addressing the crisis there. Revealing Biden’s Hatred of Humanity and Religion

On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, President Biden and his administration filed an appeal in federal court seeking to force all doctors and hospitals in the United States, regardless of religious conviction, to provide transgender surgeries to all patients who request such services. . .

This is not just a story about the Democratic Party’s undeniable disdain for religion and its ongoing war against Judeo-Christian morality. It is not just another sad tale of the progressive left’s relentless attack on our Constitution and its enumerated First Amendment rights. No, this is not just another chapter in the ongoing saga of cultural elites presuming to push their moral nihilism on all of American society. There is another common theme here that is even more disturbing and sinister. . .

At its core, Mr. Biden’s attack on Christian doctors and Catholic hospitals is a story about the left’s hatred of people. It is a story about misogynists who deny women are real. It is a story about misandrists who declare all men to be toxic. It is a story about misopedists who seek to disavow children of their innocence and even take their lives. At rock bottom, this is a story about misanthropy: the general hatred, dislike and contempt of the human species, so much so, that you will deny the very definition of what it means to be a human being.

It is now an irrefutable fact. The Democrats and their socialist Squad hate humanity. They hate boys so much that they teach them it’s better to be a girl, and a little nip and tuck can make it so. They hate girls so much that they tell them they can no longer have their own showers, toilets and sports. They hate women so much that they deny the female is even a fact. They hate men so much that they declare masculinity to be a social disease. . .

Maybe these champions of science should stop denying science, and maybe in their march against hate, they should admit it’s nothing short of hateful to force Christian physicians to castrate little boys and Catholic hospitals to sexually mutilate adolescent girls. Recently, the Biden administration decided to waive the fines lobbed at noncitizens who have refused to leave. Yet, there seems to be another eye-opening move at the border. Vice President Kamala Harris might not be there, but her children’s book is there (via NY Post):

Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t been to the border to address a crisis she was tasked to help fix — but a children’s book she wrote is waiting there for young migrants who are being welcomed into the country.

Unaccompanied migrant kids brought from the U.S.-Mexico border to a new shelter in Long Beach, Calif., will be given a copy of her 2019 children’s book, “Superheroes are Everywhere,” in their welcome kits.

It’s just the latest open-arms gesture by the Biden administration, whose mixed messaging regarding the border and immigration has been credited with the surge from Central America to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Border czar Roberta Jacobson last month conceded that the Biden administration’s messaging to migrants has been inconsistent, contributing to the unprecedented surge.

Alaska Airlines Bans State Senator for Refusing to Follow Mask Rules

Alaska Airlines has banned Alaska state Sen. Lora Reinbold (R-Eagle River) from flying on the airline for repeatedly refusing to follow mask mandates.

“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” Alaska Airlines spokesperson Tim Thompson told The Epoch Times via email.

“This suspension is effective immediately pending further review. Federal law requires all guests to wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times during travel, including throughout the flight, during boarding and deplaning, and while traveling through an airport.” . . .

Videos on Twitter appear to show the senator discussing the incident with the airline staff.

Reinbold said, in a statement: “I was reasonable with all Alaska Airlines employees. I have been flying on Alaska Air for decades and am an MVP gold. Biden Nomination Would Be Pentagon’s Most Senior Openly Transgender Official

President Biden will nominate a transgender retired Navy commander to oversee readiness at the Pentagon, the White House said Friday.

If confirmed as assistant secretary of Defense for readiness, Shawn Skelly would be the highest ever ranking openly transgender defense official.

Skelly, a former Navy aviator, most recently served on Biden’s Pentagon transition team.

[He] is also the co-founder and vice president of Out in National Security, which advocates for increased representation of LGBT people in the national security workforce.

[His] nomination comes after Biden reversed the Trump administration’s ban on most transgender service members. Late last month, the Pentagon released its new rules allowing open service by transgender troops, essentially reverting to the Obama administration’s open service policy. The grandfather of modern physics, Sir Isaac Newton, has become the latest target of the woke mob in the push to “decolonise the curriculum”, as Sheffield University is reportedly set to contextualise lessons on Newton with claims about him benefiting from “colonial-era activity”.

Students at the university in the north of England will reportedly have lessons on Netwon’s groundbreaking three laws of motion, including the law of gravity, with explainers detailing the “global origins and historical context” of his theories.

Professors in the engineering department of Sheffield University will seek to “challenge long-standing conscious and unconscious biases” among pupils and to confront the supposed “white saviour” and “Eurocentric” view of science and mathematics, according to documents seen by The Telegraph.

A diversity consultant at several top universities in Britain decried the efforts to decolonise the curriculum, warning that the movement is expanding from the traditionally left-wing humanities departments into the hard sciences.

“I’m employed by universities to do this training but for me equality, diversity and inclusion training is equality of opportunity, diversity of thought and inclusivity of action – that’s all,” the unnamed consultant said.

Americans Will Officially Need a Vaccine Passport for at Least One Activity This Year

Americans will need a vaccine passport in order to travel to Europe this summer.

More than one year after the European Union shut down nonessential travel from most of the world, the bloc will reopen its borders to American tourists this summer. There’s one catch: those tourists will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen told The New York Times.

American and European officials have reportedly been in talks on how to create a vaccine certificate to clear citizens for international travel. “All 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that are approved by E.M.A. (European Medicines Agency),” von der Leyen told the Times. Man Kicked off City Commission After Failing to Address Black Professor as ‘Doctor’

The city council of Greensboro, North Carolina, voted unanimously to oust a construction contractor from the zoning commission after a tense exchange in which he failed to address a black professor as “doctor,” the Greensboro News & Record reported.

Council member Sharon Hightower last week said Tony Collins exhibited “white privilege and entitlement. And what I saw last night at the zoning commission meeting was white privilege at its ultimate finest. It was absolutely disrespectful … to dress down an African American female was unacceptable,” WFMY-TV reported.

Carrie Rosario is a Greensboro citizen and an associate professor of public health education at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, the station said, adding that she holds a DrPH — a professional doctoral-level degree in public health.

During the April 19 Greensboro Zoning Commission virtual meeting, Rosario introduced herself as “Dr. Rosario” to the commission before noting her opposition to a planned development near her home, WFMY reported.
